Flying stars: stones and stumbling blocks
Gone are the days when simply calculating a star map was perceived as an event. (If you come across a Feng Shui consultant on the Internet who proudly writes about himself “I know how to build a map of the stars” - pass by :). Any calculator can build a map; they are in reference books, telephone programs, and websites. The question is what to do next with the map.
There are several “stumbling blocks” in the star system - controversial issues that can confuse a beginner, and in some cases, even stump a novice consultant. Let's talk about this.
The map of flying stars is constructed based on 1) the period of construction 2) the direction of the facade.
Construction period
It is not necessary to know the exact year; it is enough to fall into a 20-year period. 1984 – 2003 – 7th period, 2004 – 2023 – 8th, current period, the ninth will begin in 2024. Be careful - most often we are talking about the time the first residents move in. One of the components in the stars is human qi, and it cannot be ignored. If the house was built in 2003, but the first residents began to move in in 2004, take the 8th period as a basis.
If you don’t know the year of construction, you won’t be able to build a star map, and you won’t be able to apply the system either (only in a truncated version, with annual and monthly stars). Also, carefully ask whether the house has undergone a major renovation with the demolition of walls, replacement of the roof, door and floor - the period may have changed.
Facade
The facade is the “face” of the house. Previously, construction was quite clear - a beautiful architectural facade, a front door (most often on the facade). Nowadays, quite often there are quite strange versions of houses, either identical on all sides, or with two or three facades. Sometimes, even with a private house, the architect will be so clever that at first glance it is not clear where the “face” of the house is. Often in apartment buildings the role of the facade is played by the side where the entrance is located. But in any case, to form a clear energy picture, a well-defined façade is needed.
Quite often in books there is a suggestion to look for the facade on the side where the environment is most active, yang, where there is a road or water. This doesn't always work. When we define a facade, we are talking specifically about the house, and not about its surroundings. Imagine a person who in a restaurant can sit either facing the street or sideways, with his back to it. In the same way, a house can stand sideways to an active space, the sea or a river. External activity does not define the façade.
Measurements
Suppose you have found the facade, now you need to measure its direction in degrees. There is also diversity here: someone stands with their back to the door, someone with their face at a distance of one and a half meters, someone even uses Google. An apartment door can only be measured if it is located on an open balcony or terrace. Practice shows that in most cases, qi measured directly from the door, and the external door (entrance door) is triggered! How to measure it - I already wrote earlier. Moreover, our reference point is the door, but we measure the direction of the facade. Therefore, if the door is located at an angle to the facade, for example, on the side of the house, there is no need to mechanically read the compass readings “at the belly” (as is usually advised to beginners). Place the compass against the door as described in the article, but look exactly in the direction in which the facade is facing.
We must understand that earlier, when the Flying Stars system was actively developing, people lived somewhat differently. There were no huge apartment buildings, underground parking lots, strong man-made influences, and measurements on the door most often coincided or only slightly differed from measurements next to the door. Differences within one gua (45 degrees) are considered normal. Therefore, the master calmly measured the direction of the facade according to the door (mountain 15 degrees), the rear according to Xuan Kong Da Gua, and did not think much about how these measurements differed from the real cardinal points - more or less the directions coincided. It would be very tempting to do the same now.
However, not all so simple. Practice shows that sometimes the star map works not according to the dimensions of the door, but according to the measurements next to the door (the so-called universal qi). This happens in cases where the door greatly distorts the qi. For example, the house itself faces south, but measurements on the door show west. In such cases, verification is necessary. I recommend that you take the door measurements as a basis, but be sure to clarify the main events and compare them with the star map. It’s always useful to think.) Picture clarity
When:
- severe distortion of qi
- unstable measurements (when different values are obtained all the time)
- several possible facades
- confusion of the qi at home (when you can enter one entrance and exit from a completely different one)
- houses without entrances with entrance from underground parking
- and so on.
another problem is added. Sometimes the qi is so confused that a clear picture (a clearly functioning star map) is not formed. In such cases the system is not applicable. Then I usually use the Bazi Feng Shui system, which takes the actual directions of the cardinal directions. This system has never let me down; Moreover, even with a clear picture from the stars, I would not ignore the influence of housing on specific bazi (a person’s birth chart). Despite the beautiful timely stars, unfavorable qi for a person entering the door or affecting the place of sleep leaves its mark.
Qi distribution
We have completed the construction of the map. But “the map is not the territory,” that is, you cannot mechanically transfer the squares of the star map to your home. Also, the wrong picture is obtained if you divide the premises into sectors (like a pie).
Why? Let's figure it out.
To begin with, let us remember that a square is associated with the earth, and therefore location, and a circle is associated with the sky and directions. Therefore, the cardinal directions painted on a circle show only directions, but not the distribution of qi in an apartment or house.
The influence of flying stars is the special characteristics of the qi of a particular place. Energy cannot be distributed along lines on paper; it fills the entire room, just like water fills an entire bottle. Perhaps the association with the smell will help you understand this - it also fills the entire room without suddenly stopping at some virtual boundary. Therefore, it is not surprising that the rules for the distribution of qi say that in one room there can only be one energy, one combination of stars. And it may turn out that there will be the same qi in adjacent rooms, and there will be no room for any combination at all.
How exactly the stars are distributed throughout an apartment or house is the topic of a separate large article. Usually, during the course on Flying Stars, we spend at least half an hour just explaining the rules and much more on practicing with specific examples, because the distribution of energies depends on the configuration of the apartment, the presence of windows and doors, the direction of the facade, and so on.
Small tai chi
For many practitioners, small tai chi is a somewhat mysterious topic; its use is often ignored, but in vain.) It’s just that quite often small tai chi is explained incorrectly, hence the lack of results. In fact, this is not a square in the room :), it is a starting point. You cannot find small tai chi in an empty room. But as soon as an object appears - a bed, a table, a stove - you can look at small tai chi in relation to this object in order to understand what combination of stars is activated. You can also immediately check how the door to the room or the entire apartment affects the bed.
Support by external forms
This is also often forgotten, considering all combinations in the house to be equivalent. In fact, everything depends on the external environment! It happens that 25 on the front door has less influence than 88, activated by a crossroads or confluence of rivers. Don’t forget about the increase/decrease of the landscape: even a slight decrease, a difference in heights, already supports the water (front) star in the combination.
Magnetic declination
There is nothing permanent in this world. And magnetic declination, unfortunately, is no exception. The degree of direction of the façade may change over time. The reason may be natural changes in the earth's magnetic field or a change in the environment (a house built nearby, a road). In any case, before doing an annual audit (seeing how the flying stars of the year and months will affect the house), it is useful to retake the measurements.
The interactions between stars are actually more complex.
It is important not only what combination is in the room or on the bed. It is important how the door to the bedroom, the entrance door to the apartment, and the way people walk around the house affect the bed. Sometimes even the direction of the wind and the time of year are important. The influence of stars is more diverse than it seems at first.
That is why, after becoming familiar with the star system and a certain amount of practice, we can talk about more subtle nuances of application, complex cases and questions that have arisen.

From this narrative it becomes clear to some, and to others who do not really want to understand, that the Flying Stars of Feng Shui | Feng Shui can also become a dangerous tool, the use of which can be the result of irreparable mistakes or simply throwing dust in the eyes.
So, before you use what you inadvertently heard or deliberately heard, make sure whether you heard correctly, and whether it is worth burdening yourself with all sorts of textbooks about Flying Stars, in which there is not even a shred of true knowledge about these stars, and whether the person told you about it.
And in conclusion, I would like to dispel the myth about two-tier beds, which are attributed to bad feng shui . It is with the help of the Flying Stars technique that they determine for whom of those who want to settle on it, the first or second tier is better suited.
The same applies to high-rise buildings, but here there is a different technique...
