Thesis five: The commandment to honor parents does not justify parental sins

In a situation of conflict, reminding a teenager the commandment to honor parents should also be done with great caution. In the New Testament, the principle of mutual responsibilities between children and parents is stated openly, leaving no room for discrepancies: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is what justice requires. Honor your father and mother - this is the first commandment with a promise: that it may be good for you, and that you may live long on earth. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:1-4).

Parents are capable of irritating their children, capable of offending them and even driving them to despondency, as the Apostle Paul writes about this in another of his epistle: ... fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, so that they do not lose heart (Col. 3:21). Therefore, if we appeal to the Holy Scriptures in this painful issue for many, then this should be done taking into account the possible sins of parents before their own sons and daughters. And what these sins are, each of the parents probably knows much better than any outside observer. Saint Theophan the Recluse, in his interpretation of this passage in the Bible, listed the most common examples of this kind:

“...Do not provoke your children. By the way you act on them, do not bring them to the point where they can become displeased, angry, annoyed, or angry with you. Anger is generally sinful; Anger at parents is even more sinful. Don't lead them into this sin. This happens from excessive severity, from indiscriminate exactingness and any injustices - from which all children sometimes feel more cramped than slaves.”

Compromising evidence and rumors

Like all representatives of the Servant of the People political force, Alexander Tkachenko was more than once accused by the press of the fact that the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky is behind all the actions and thoughts of the party’s future politicians.

The famous journalist Savik Shuster also considered it necessary to express his opinion, calling Alexander Tkachenko a “servant.”

However, the media manager himself responds to such accusations by saying that acquaintance with many businessmen, including Kolomoisky, does not make him a person controlled by a businessman.

The general director of the holding denied the information that during the nationalization of Privatbank it contained shares of the 1+1 holding.

The last day of 2021 was remembered by many Ukrainians and viewers of the 1+1 TV channel for the unexpected address to the people by the leader of the “Kvartal 95” project, Vladimir Zelensky.

Alexander Tkachenko

Zelensky’s speech replaced the traditional congratulations of the president, causing an unprecedented resonance. The general director of the TV channel said that he does not see anything outrageous in this situation, noting that the tradition of celebrating the New Year with the so-called “chime” has long been outdated. It is noteworthy that the Head of the Supreme Council of Ukraine Committee on Freedom of Speech also noted that the TV channel had not committed any violations.

In the spring of 2021, Alexander Tkachenko announced his decision to sue the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The reason for this was the unproven accusations of “intimidation of journalists” made by the president against the 1+1 TV channel in the past. In addition, according to Tkachenko, Poroshenko “shamefully burst into” the air of the “Right to Power” program, which took place on April 11, 2021. The general director of 1+1 noted that the president clearly took advantage of his status as head of state, and that none of the presidential candidates were invited to the broadcast. Tkachenko posted his full comment on his Facebook page.

Tkachenko refutes near-political rumors that he is allegedly considering the opportunity to take the post of mayor of Kyiv. In an interview with TheBabel, he denied insinuations regarding his political plans and noted that at the moment he is focused exclusively on the parliamentary campaign.

Also in an interview with Novoye Vremya, Tkachenko noted that Igor Kolomoisky is not going to look for a new general director for “1+1 Media”; the general director himself will remain in office until the day of the 2021 parliamentary elections.

Declaration

Due to the fact that Tkachenko has never held public office and is entering politics for the first time, he is not required to declare his property. According to information from the shareholders of the 1+1 Media holding, Tkachenko is the third largest shareholder (he owns 22.4 percent of the shares of the foreign enterprise 1+1 Production) and co-owner. Recently, Tkachenko managed to exercise his option, issued several years ago by shareholders, and now become a co-owner of the 1+1 channel.

Answered by Alexander Tkachenko, psychologist, father of four children

A person who is criticized for something he does feels guilty. And the inevitable companions of guilt are fear, shame, pain. Fear that you have turned out to be bad and will now be rejected by others. Shame - for others knowing how bad you are. Pain - because by your misconduct you, as it were, “torn off” yourself from the community of good people living according to the rules accepted by all, and now the mental wound at the site of this “separation” does not allow you to live in peace.

All these feelings have very specific external manifestations that are difficult to confuse with anything: a guilty person stands dejectedly, lowers his head, looks away to the side, and finds it difficult to look other people in the eyes. Simply put, a person feels bad and it shows in him. And therefore, the surprise of someone who sees how a guilty person suddenly begins... to smile is understandable. What is the reason for his reaction?
