History of the Christian Church from Apostolic times to the present day

Welcome to Moscow Church

Our church has been serving people in Moscow since 2011. During this time, we brought more than 2,000 thousand people to Christ. We hold a congregational worship service every Saturday at 11:00 am.

Our worship team opens the heavens and brings God's presence where miracles happen. Every Saturday the living word of the pastor is heard from the pulpit.

Every week, 9 home churches open their homes for the parishioners of our church, where God’s word sounds and an atmosphere of love and acceptance reigns. Our leaders are always ready to support someone in prayer and help in difficult situations.

Every Saturday, our parishioners, together with ministers, serve people in need: they feed them in the square of three train stations. During our entire service, we have fed more than 5,000 hungry people.

We help people experiencing spiritual and emotional problems. If you are in an addiction or difficult situation, we are ready to help you.

Moscow Church of Christ

Dear brothers and sisters, hello!

I have an important announcement to make to you on behalf of the church leadership. Please be careful. We will talk about our meetings and the upcoming celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Church of Christ.

Many people are closely monitoring changes in the epidemiological situation in Moscow. We see that the situation is not developing for the better. In doing so, we not only rely on official statistics, but also see how many brothers and sisters actually get sick. Unfortunately, there are also very severe cases. We cannot help but react to the current situation. We want to take care of the church, we monitor the development of events and try to act appropriately to the current circumstances. And, of course, we are primarily interested in the will of God. We want to live in accordance with His desires.

The prudent man sees the trouble and takes refuge; and the inexperienced go ahead and are punished. (Prov.22:3)

Being bold in your actions and decisions is good. But we also see that wisdom comes from caution. We see that danger is approaching us, and the best thing for us now - as this passage says - is to take cover. We don't need to take unnecessary, excessive risks. We love each other in the church, and that love can now be demonstrated in protecting one another.

First I will talk about Sunday services. Last night the church leadership decided to cancel all Sunday services in the halls. This coming Sunday, tomorrow, June 27, all scheduled services will be cancelled. Also, there will be no in-person services for an indefinite period. We will monitor the current situation and assume that there will be no in-person church meetings until at least the end of summer, and then we will see.

This decision means that we are returning to Sunday online broadcasts, as we did previously. We hope the next Sunday broadcast will air on July 4th. Please keep an eye out for announcements. Obviously, we will also celebrate the church’s birthday online.

Now about the Congress. Friends! It is with great regret that I must announce that the Congress of the Churches of Christ in Eurasia “From Faith to Faith” will not be able to take place this year. A wonderful holiday was planned, we had almost everything ready. But it is obvious that in the current realities, holding a festive event is no longer so inspiring. And it’s not just about inspiration, but also about the fact that we don’t want to endanger your life and your health, dear brothers and sisters.

Just yesterday morning, the organizers of the congress had a different attitude. Until yesterday, we saw the opportunity to hold the Congress, fulfilling all the prescribed sanitary standards without violations. Moreover, when initially choosing the dates for the congress, we were guided by the experience of last year, thinking that July was the safest time. But the situation, as we see, has changed. Mainly, we had to take into account the fact that the number of sick students in Moscow was growing. Therefore, several emergency meetings on this issue were held yesterday. As a result, the leadership of our church, on the recommendation and with the support of the Eurasian Council, decided not to hold the Congress this year.

The information you are hearing right now most likely raises a number of questions in your mind. What does it mean that there will be no Congress this year? When will it be? Will it pass next summer? What will the dates be?

There are also issues related to finances. If I registered for a conference and made a targeted donation, what will happen to my money? Friends, there is no answer to these questions yet. We are looking for the optimal solution, and we hope that we will find it with God's help. If you are registered for the Congress, then in the coming days you will receive an explanatory letter by email in which we will try to answer all these questions.

Brothers and sisters! We made an unpopular decision. We are very sorry that this decision is causing you any inconvenience. And we hope for your understanding. We believe that life and health are more valuable than money and effort. We are driven by a sincere desire to take care of God's flock.

In conclusion, I want to say, friends: “If we are alive and it is the will of the Lord, we will do this or that.” This is a quote from the letter of James (chap. 4). Given the current circumstances and uncertainty, we still have a solid foundation. Our God is our foundation, our rock, our stronghold. He is unchanging, He is with us, He will not leave us. May He bless each of you!

WHO ARE WE?

We are Christians. We love God and each other. We believe that the Bible is God's Word and a wonderful guide for our daily lives. We value the forgiveness of sins that God provides through Jesus Christ and strive to live in accordance with His teachings.

WHAT IS OUR CHURCH?

We are a large church with a total attendance of about 1,500 people on Sundays. Our meetings are regularly held in different places in the capital.

Our church has many programs to meet a variety of spiritual needs: youth and student groups, programs for single and married Christians, senior ministry, and children's programs.

A small group is a place where you can meet Christians of your age, social status, or in your area.

WHAT ARE WE STRIVING FOR?

We believe the world needs Jesus and His healing Word. God desires for every person to be able to hear the words of truth and find salvation (1 Timothy 2:3-6). We strive to help people living in Moscow and the Moscow region find salvation. We trust the words of Jesus, who called us as His followers to spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God and salvation, and to baptize the nations, teaching them everything that Jesus Christ commanded. Our dream is for many people to be reconciled with God and find hope of eternal life.

History of the Christian Church

In terms of the number of followers, Christianity is the largest religion in the world. According to research, adherents of Christianity make up 33% of the world's population.

Just over half of all Christians (more than 1.2 billion) are Catholics. The second (in terms of the number of believers) direction of Christianity is Protestantism. Currently there are about 800 million Protestants in the world. The third major direction of Christianity unites Orthodox believers and has about 314 million adherents.

What are “Confessions”?

Confessions are different branches of Christianity, united in basic dogmas, but differing in details and form of worship. Protestantism is one of the three, along with Catholicism and Orthodoxy, main denominations of Christianity, which is a collection of independent churches, church unions and denominations.

Where did the Protestant movement originate?

On October 31, 1517, in the city of Wittenberg (Germany), priest Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to the gates of the local church in protest against violations of the Biblical commandments by the Catholic Church of that time. This event marked the beginning of the emergence of a movement for the Reformation of the Church, which received the name “Protestantism,” which (from the Latin - protestans) means “publicly proving.”

Protestantism did not try to reform Catholicism from within; the new movement broke away from this Church and defined itself as the Reformation (from the Latin reformatio - “restoration in its original form”).

Protestants considered themselves not so much innovators who brought new teachings, but rather adherents of ancient traditions who rediscovered ancient truths that had been lost during the centuries of the Middle Ages.

Basics of Protestant Doctrine

The Protestant doctrine was based on five theses, formed during the Reformation and called “Five*only*” (translated from Latin - Quinque sola):

1. “Only the Bible.” The only and absolute rule and standard by which all doctrines and all teachers are to be judged are the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

2. “Only by faith.” Justification can only be by faith, regardless of the performance of good deeds and any external sacred rites.

3. “By grace alone.” A person cannot earn salvation or somehow participate in his own salvation. Salvation is a good gift from God to man.

4. “Only Christ.” Only Christ is the only mediator between God and man, and salvation is possible only through faith in Him.

5. “Glory to God alone.” Man must honor and worship only God, since salvation is granted only through His will and actions.

Form of service in the Protestant church

Protestant houses of worship are generally free of opulent decoration, images and statues. The temple building can be any structure that is leased or under construction. Protestant worship centers on preaching, prayer, the singing of psalms and hymns, and communion.

The Protestant movement has been successfully developing throughout the world to this day. In 92 countries of the world, Protestantism is the largest denomination of Christianity, including in 49 countries, Protestants make up the majority of the population. And countries professing Protestantism are economically and culturally developed.

Not flesh and blood opened

That is, without philosophizing, research with the help of some special techniques brings bliss. Revelation from the Father. Who revealed this truth to Simon that Jesus is the Son of God? Father and Son are one. Jesus is the Word. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit who

– the Word reminds us

- testifies of Christ and glorifies Jesus, because it takes from Him and tells us

- teaches us everything, guides us to all Truth.

This means that the Father, the Word, the Holy Spirit revealed to Simon the truth that became fundamental.

God, the Holy Spirit gave birth to our new spirit, our new man. The Holy Spirit bears witness to our spirit.

Revelation. Peter. Cephas.

The story surrounding the change of Jacob's name to Israel is very informative.

Literally, the nation today is called Israel, the name that God gave to Jacob when he performed the specific act described by that name.

– The person did a certain action

– God gave this action a name

– God gave a name that describes this action to the person who performed it (because the name was previously given for a reason)

– People today live in the state of Israel, which was NOT built ON JACOB (Israel). These people associate themselves with the action of God and towards them. They consider themselves Israelis.

Let's make an analogy

– Simon accepted the revelation from God and voiced it

– God called Simon by a name that symbolizes this action – Stone, Peter

– Jesus promises that on this “ROCK” (the revelation that Jesus is the Son of God) He will build His congregation (church)

– Today a person becomes a believer, born again, one who is part of the Assembly (church), only by receiving the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God.
