St. Matrona Moscow
Pokrovsky Stauropegic Convent
Almost all believers who learn about Saint Matronushka for the first time are interested in the question -
how to get to the relics of Matrona of Moscow?
People have a very strong desire to personally visit the righteous old woman and ask her for help. After all, many remember her words: “Everyone, everyone, come to me...”
I must say that once you are in the city of Moscow, you can easily drive to the relics of the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow. The Pokrovsky Women's Stauropegic Monastery at Abelmanovskaya Zastava (Church on Taganka) has been the permanent location of this shrine since 1998. As pilgrims say, when they enter the monastery, their soul immediately becomes calm and joyful. People come here from different parts of the country to venerate the relics of Blessed Matrona, bring fresh flowers, pray and ask for help.
At the entrance to the monastery territory you can see the Church Bench. It is open daily (opening hours from 8.00 to 20.00). Here you can buy icons of St. Matrona of Moscow from the smallest to the largest church icons, books, church oil, candles, church utensils and much more.

Near the entrance to the monastery there is a bell tower, and a little further there is a Holy Spring (or water-sanctuary chapel). Pilgrims can collect holy water here in their own bottles or in bottles purchased at the monastery. It must be said that there is a refectory on the territory of the Intercession Monastery, which is open to everyone. There is a small children's playground.
But, of course, the main place where all pilgrims go is the temple, in which the relics of St. Matrona of Moscow are located in a special tomb (reliquary). The shrine never leaves the Intercession Convent and is available to believers every day. Queues form from early morning until late evening. Another line is lined up for the large icon of Matronushka in the form of a fresco on the wall of the temple, right on the street.

To the Intercession Monastery November 15, 2021
Dear brothers and sisters! I hasten to share with you a story about visiting the relics of Blessed Matronushka! This trip to the Intercession Monastery took place on November 15th. On this day the weather in the capital was cloudy. And even in the morning it was drizzling. And then a barely noticeable snowfall.
Sretensky Monastery
First we went to the Sretensky Monastery. We prayed at the Sunday Liturgy. The choir performed the chants very beautifully and solemnly! I especially liked the singing of “Holy God.” It was first performed by the Sretensky Choir. Russian words alternated with Greek ones - “Agios, Ofeos”. I made an audio recording of this unusual performance of the Trisagion. Let's listen:
After the service my soul felt lighter and warmer! From the Sretensky Monastery we headed to the Intercession Monastery. On the way, we read an akathist to Saint Matrona of Moscow. We only managed to read half of it. Since the travel time between the two monasteries is only 8 minutes. )
Before visiting the Intercession Monastery, as usual, I went to a flower shop. Here I collected a bouquet of flowers you ordered. Namely, from roses, chrysanthemums and carnations. In the center I placed a white lily branch - from all our donors!
Approaching closer to the monastery gates, the children and I noticed a rowan tree. She has already dropped almost all her leaves and is preparing for winter. True, it is still rich in berries and feeds hungry birds)
To the Intercession Monastery on November 15
Once on the territory of the monastery, we did not immediately go to the Intercession Church. It is in it that the miraculous relics of Saint Matrona of Moscow rest.
Approaching the entrance, I saw a woman kneeling. She fervently asked blessed Matronushka for help. It seemed like it was inconvenient to take this shot... But, for our inspiration, I took a photograph. So that we could have someone to follow as an example of sincere and fervent prayer!
We ordered prayer services at the Intercession Church. We bought candles. And with flowers and letters they headed to the cherished shrine. The candles were passed to the candlestick. They also handed the flowers to the servant, who placed them on the relics of Mother. As we venerated the holy shrine, we also included your letters. We believe and hope that Blessed Matrona will read them. And he will intercede for us before the Lord God!
When we moved away from the relics, they gave us flowers and sprigs of carnations. For mental and physical health.
Having once again prayed to Blessed Matronushka, we headed home. And on the way we finished reading the second half of the akathist. There was a feeling in my heart that it was as if we had never left the Intercession Monastery!..

Dear brothers and sisters! Here is an instructive story from Olga, a visitor to our site. This story will deal with the theme of life and death. Moreover, it is tragic. So get ready to read a story that will remind you that life on earth is not eternal. And life is eternal there, in the Kingdom of Heaven!..
A story about a miraculous escape from death!..
Good evening! Today is my birthday! More precisely, the second birthday, according to the prayers of Saint Matryona!!!
From November 6 to 7, I, a friend and her son, were planning to go to Moscow. They go about their business, and I go to Matrona at the Pokrovsky Monastery. We live far away, in the LPR – it’s 1000 km. And before that, I read the akathist for more than 2 months and sent notes through your website. But there was no help or answer to my question. I read stories about miracles posted on your site. The situation was not as easy as it seemed to me at that time.
And then I decided to go. But on the day of the trip, my brother called and said that he could not meet me. The station where we were supposed to arrive was very far away. And since I live in another country, I don’t have a Russian SIM card. Therefore, I won’t even be able to call and get a taxi. In the morning I told my friends (we work together) that I would not be going. And she tells me, so let’s take you to the place you need, where your brother will meet you. I called him again, and he said: “No, I can’t take time off from work.”
Upset is an understatement. I think Matrona doesn’t want to hear me or see me because of my sins. I think it’s possible that it helped millions, but it doesn’t work here. And this is the second time in a month that a trip with these people has been disrupted. What blasphemy, insult, God forgive me. I cried all weekend, screamed out of hopelessness and resentment. But she didn’t stop reading the akathist.
God's providence
I read the stories people left on this site. But without ecstasy, it’s as simple as that. And such doubts and criticism. Lord have mercy. This is all I'm getting at. I came to work today, and they told me that my friends, mother and son, died in an accident! And exactly when we were going to Moscow. And they also took with them a male travel companion (33 years old). 3 people died at once, instant death! And I should have been 4th...
The driver lost control and crashed into the truck at full speed. The car was soft-boiled... They cut it to get it out from under the truck. It's a pity that you can't attach a photo. It's just awful!!! There was nothing left of the car, and it’s scary to even think about the passengers. May the Lord rest their souls and pray to the Holy Intercessor for them before the Lord and help them go through the ordeal.
My whole body is still shaking. Because of the horror they saw, this terrible accident near Voronezh was posted on the Internet. And tears of gratitude. So that’s why you didn’t let me in and what you saved me from, my dear!!!! I simply have no words... I really prayed to Mother so as not to die without confessing. I really asked her to help me confess my sins. Not for a moment, do you hear, do not doubt, do not anger the Saints. We just don't know when death will overtake us! And with what will we appear before them and the Lord!
Olga's conclusion
And I, like many readers of this site, doubted and despaired. I have no words to express my gratitude! That Mother begged me before the Lord and gave me time to repent. And she showed how much we, people, worry, ask and get upset if we don’t get what we ask for. And the Lord has His own plans for us. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Especially for those girls who ask Matron for unhappy love. I am one of them. Therefore, I say how futile our desires and requests are. The main thing is that the Lord manages everything, through the prayers of Matronushka. He knows better where and with whom we should live, with whom we will find happiness, and with whom we will lose our soul!!! And when our earthly journey is over. Live and don’t be discouraged (especially because of your “loved ones”). We have one life!!!!! Thank the Lord for everything!!! And forgive me, R.B Olga

This is such a touching and instructive story. Olga made the right conclusion. Reminded me of gratitude to God for life. She talked about the need for confession. And she warned against unhappy love.
We wish Olga the mercy of God and the protection of Blessed Matronushka!
Dear brothers and sisters! Finishing my story about the trip to the Intercession Monastery on November 15, I remind you that November 22 will be a big holiday! Birthday of Saint Matrona of Moscow! We are planning to organize a holiday pilgrimage! The opportunity to donate letters, candles and flowers will open on Wednesday – November 18th.
Stay with God! And may the merciful Lord help you in all your cherished petitions, through the zealous intercession of the holy blessed Matrona of Moscow!
Why do they wait for hours to see Matronushka?
Judging by the pandemonium in the Pokrovsky Convent, Muscovites value most of all the apostles and relics of the power of the blessed Matrona.
Two lines: one, long, to the icon on the wall of the temple. The other, even longer, goes to the relics. They stand for one and a half to two hours on a weekday. On holidays - twice as long, despite the rain, as, for example, on Palm Sunday. Because of the bad weather or perhaps the long wait, people were not in the mood for conversation.
But on the Internet, admirers of the blessed one willingly share their expectations and results of the pilgrimage. Here are the most common messages on Orthodox forums.
Marina: “Mother Matronushka, please help me and my husband with an apartment! If only everything worked out! Send me and my husband wisdom in conflicts!”
Lyubov: “Through the prayers of my mother to Matronushka, I entered the university, and my brother entered the institute, another brother successfully served in the army. Mother Matronushka hears us, prays for us, is constantly with us, and does not forget anyone! The Lord is wonderful in His Saints!”
Irina: “I ask you to heal my husband from drunkenness. Pray before the Lord for peace, love and prosperity in our home. I pray every day for a job that I would love.”
Nina: “Matronushka, may everything be fine for me and my loved ones, I don’t ask for anything more, just good health. Thank you, Matronushka."
Lyudmila: “Matronushka, I am so grateful to you for helping me. I want to tell all people: believe, pray to Matronushka, she really helps. I couldn’t get pregnant for a long time, I read a prayer to Matronushka, and within a month I became pregnant.”
…I had to hear that dreams of new cars were realized after turning to the blessed one.
It is no secret that the “cult” of Matrona irritates the church intelligentsia and theologians. A poem parodying the false elders recently appeared on the Internet. Among other things, fans of Matronushka also got: “My dear child, If you want to be saved, / You don’t need to get a passport, beware of your Taxpayer Identification Number, / Cut out the sinful barcode from everything you see, brother. / This is your spiritual feat, this is the path to the Heavenly City./ Chew zemlyutsa from Matrona, Eat Diveyevo crackers./ This is how the faces of the saints were saved, this is how the ancestors taught of old.”
How does the Church explain the phenomenon of mass love for Matronushka? Representative of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, priest Georgy Ryabykh, believes: Matronushka’s life itself finds a special response in the Russian heart. She was blind, endured poverty and beatings, but did not lose her love for God and her neighbors - this is an example of true holiness. At the same time, Father George does not consider the intense interest in Matronushka to be an unprecedented phenomenon: “After canonization there is always such a surge. This was the case with Tikhon of Zadonsk and Seraphim of Sarov at the beginning of the twentieth century. Then everyone gradually calms down.” At the same time, the priest reminded that the veneration of some saints should not turn into oblivion of others: “Neglect of other shrines is ingratitude to God, who has shown His mercies through them, it is a sin before the Lord.”
