The life feat of Seraphim of Sarov

Seraphim of Sarov (Prokhor) was born in the mid-18th century in Kursk. His parents were people of deep faith. My father took part in the construction of the local cathedral. The work unfinished by him was continued by his wife Agathia.

There is a story about a boy falling from the height of the bell tower of this temple, where little Prosha followed his mother. The child remained unharmed. He survived after a serious illness, seeing the Mother of God in a dream. All these events strengthened Prokhor’s confidence that he must devote himself entirely to the Lord. And he went to the monastery.

The life of Seraphim of Sarov passed in prayers and labors. This is how, according to the monk, he was protected from boredom. Another case of his divine healing occurred when dropsy formed in Prokhor’s body. Refusing doctors, he completely trusted in prayer.

Seraphim of Sarov (in the world Prokhor Isidorovich Moshnin, in some sources - Mashnin; July 19, 1754 (or 1759), Kursk - January 2, 1833, Sarov Monastery) - hieromonk of the Sarov Monastery, founder and patron of the Diveevo Convent.
Glorified by the Russian Church in 1903 as a saint on the initiative of Tsar Nicholas II. One of the most revered Russian saints. Prayer rule of St. Seraphim of Sarov

Having risen from sleep , every Christian, standing in front of the holy icons, let him read: the prayer of the Lord Our Father three times, in honor of the Most Holy Trinity, then the hymn to the Virgin Mary, Rejoice also three times and, finally, the Creed once.

Having completed this rule, let him go about his business to which he has been assigned or called.

While working at home or on the road somewhere, let him quietly read Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner or a sinner, and if others surround him, then, while doing business, let him speak with his mind only, Lord, have mercy, and continue until lunch. Just before lunch, let him perform the above morning rule.

After dinner , while doing your job, the Most Holy Theotokos quietly reads to the Most Holy Theotokos, save me a sinner, or Lord Jesus Christ, the Mother of God, have mercy on me, a sinner or a sinner, and let this continue until sleep.

When going to bed , let every Christian read the above morning rule again; after that, let him fall asleep, protecting himself with the sign of the cross.”

By adhering to this rule, one can achieve a measure of Christian perfection, for the three prayers indicated are the foundation of Christianity: the first, as a prayer given by the Lord Himself, is a model of all prayers; the second was brought from heaven by the Archangel in greeting to the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Lord; The symbol briefly contains the saving dogmas of the Christian faith.

For those who, due to various circumstances, are unable to follow this small rule, read it in any position: during classes, while walking, and even in bed, presenting the basis for this as the words of Holy Scripture: Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Seraphim of Sarov is one of the most revered holy ascetics in Rus'. He became famous not only for his holiness, but also for his ability to heal diseases and predict the future. They say that Father Seraphim foresaw the October Revolution and other important events. Many of the prophecies he expressed have already come true, but for others, apparently, the time has not yet come...

The future clergyman was born, according to some sources, in 1754, according to others - in 1759, into the Kursk merchant family of the Moshnins and was baptized by Prokhor. One day the boy became very ill. In a dream, he saw the Mother of God, who promised to visit and heal him. Soon a religious procession with an icon of the Mother of God passed by the Moshnins’ house. The mother brought her sick son to the icon. After that he really recovered.

When the boy grew up, he decided to become a monk and turned for advice to Elder Dosifei, who at that time was famous for his gift of clairvoyance. He advised the young man to go to settle in Sarov.

Quotes about physical health

So, I’ll start with Seraphim’s advice for physical health and longevity.

“Eat more greens and you will have strong legs and a resilient heart, like a beast.”

My dears, I have written more than once in my publications about the benefits of green vegetables and leaves. And I will say again that green plants and herbs contain the substance chlorophyll - one of the most important elements for the plant and entire biological world. Chlorophyll is essential for the immune system, digestive organs and blood. This unique substance also has powerful antioxidant, anticancer and antibacterial properties. You can write dissertations about it, but that’s not what my topic is about. :-)

Why I love my robot vacuum cleaner so much: sharing my own experience

“Swim more often and you will feel on land like a fish in water.”

Whether fish get sick or not, I don’t know for sure, although I believe that yes (they are alive), and humans, unfortunately, are susceptible to many ailments. No one will dispute the health benefits of swimming.

  • this is the only way to maintain a figure and tone the body, even when other types of training are prohibited for health reasons.
  • swimming is a cardio workout, which means its benefits for the heart and cardiovascular system do not need proof.
  • With the help of swimming, tight muscles and weak, inactive joints and ligaments are developed; swimming is recommended by all experts during the recovery period after injuries and operations.
  • swimming reduces the risk of the occurrence and development of severe forms of such a dangerous enemy of humanity as diabetes.

Swimming for health and longevity is also a huge separate topic. And I will return to the words of the great miracle worker.

My dear readers, literally all healers and saints insist that healing physical ailments begin with adjusting (if I chose the right word) mental qualities and feelings. The following are Seraphimushka's advice on spiritual healing.

Wisdom from Seraphim of Sarov and the Diveyevo miracles

A friend sent me these tips from Seraphim of Sarov on Skype, and I again remembered that wonderful spring trip to Diveevo last year. How many miracles happen in my life! Thank you, Universe! But it was at that moment that the density of miracles per unit of time simply went off scale.

It’s unlikely that everyone will be interested in reading the wonders of my trip to Alicia Khshanovskaya’s seminars... It just so happened that literally a few days before leaving for Moscow, I realized that I also needed to go to Diveevo.;) Just an impulse... And everything was decided almost instantly. If you want to go through Nizhny Novgorod - please, Sphinx, a friend of mine from Belvaspata, offered to help and even organize an excursion.. If you want to go through Arzamas - please, here are your round-trip tickets the day before departure, and you can buy them in Minsk... It turned out that I arrived in I was in Diveevo on Easter, it was still Easter week. In general, if I tell you all the wonders of that trip, then I will write only about it for another month, there are too many of them, and I’m not sure that it’s possible to write about everything...

But I’ll write about a meeting with one granny. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name. It seems like Vasilina, Vasya... But I will never forget her image, kind, bright, radiant eyes, optimism and joy of life. The train from Moscow left late in the evening to arrive in Arzamas around 5 am. I noticed my grandmother with a heavy bag while still in the carriage. We got off at the station together. I helped her lower her bag onto the platform, fortunately I have enough strength. The bag contained cereals, sugar, tea, matches in a plastic bag and briquettes for heating the stove. She told me this when I asked what was so hard about it. I can’t imagine how she carried this weight, it’s good that the bag was tied to a wheeled cart...

The nearest bus to Diveevo was several hours away, we started talking, and then we rode side by side all the way to the place where she got off. It turned out that she was over 70, she was traveling alone, from afar, and for the past 8 years she had been coming to Diveevo at least every year for Easter. After some time, I was planning to go to St. Petersburg for one of the following church holidays.

She lives on a pension... Why, she says, sit on a bench under the windows, husk seeds and discuss everyone and everything. :)) She stays every year in the same house in the village, not far from the place where the stones are located, near which Seraphim of Sarov prayed. She gave me a lot of advice, literally planned my trip, because I only had one day to do everything. The next morning I was supposed to be in Moscow at Alicia’s seminar.

Grandma’s story about her first visit to Diveevo shocked me to the core. At that time she was very sick, she suffered from stomach pain, she was twisted in pain. Having reached Diveevo, she was unable to reach the Cathedral. She sat down on a hillock and cried in pain. There's no one around. Suddenly, out of nowhere, an elderly man walks along the road in a strange attire, an old one or something, a colorful shirt, something like a camisole... he approaches her and sits down next to her.

- What, are you suffering from stomach pain? Everything you have there is black, black... Throw out all the pots you have at home with chipped enamel, buy new ones, eat healthy food, cereals. Pray... Go to the stones, lie on them for three days and three nights, you should feel better... And... disappeared.

Grandma did just that. After three days everything went away. At all…

Since then, every year she comes to the stones...

I didn’t get to those stones, but thanks to my granny and one young priest, who told me in time where to get the LAST ticket for the additional monastery bus, which departed at 7 pm... two hours later than all possible ones, I managed to do so much, I’m surprised myself)

Here's the story...
