History of origin
The religion originated in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born in Mecca. This city was located at the intersection of trade routes and was a center of trade and religion. It was in this place that the main sanctuary for the Arabians was located - the Kaaba and idols, which were revered by numerous Arab tribes.
Islam
Muhammad was of humble origin. The date of birth of the future prophet is known - 570. From an early age he went on trade caravan trips, saw and learned a lot of things. How many tests it passed is unknown.
Important! On one of these trips, a miracle happened to him: an angel in the form of a man declared him a messenger of Allah. Thus Muhammad became the vehicle of the word of God. He insisted that the revelations put into his mouth were the thoughts of the Almighty.
Which faith came first: Christianity or Islam?
To answer the question of what came first, it is necessary to turn to history. Islam was founded by an Arab merchant named Muhammad (in other sources Mahomed) around the 7th century AD.
Christianity appeared much earlier in the 1st century AD on the basis of old Judaism.
Jesus Christ became a prophet in Christianity, from whose birth the chronology is calculated. From this it follows that Christianity appeared earlier.
You should definitely read the advice of priests on how to protect yourself from envy.
Spread of religion
Naturally, Muhammad's revelations caused a mixed reaction and the number of supporters was initially small. But gradually their number is growing. And when the prophet moved to Yathrib, where he tried on two tribes at war with each other, his authority increased sharply. The city was named Madinat an-nabi or the city of the Prophet. This is how the capital of the Muslim world appeared - Medina. And the date of Muhammad’s migration from Mecca marked the beginning of chronology. After 8 years, pagan Mecca became Muslim, and soon Islam established itself among most Arab tribes.
Evils of Islam and Christianity
Sins in Christianity have an eight-step system and include the following vices:
- greed;
- fornication
- anger;
- pride
- sadness;
- vanity;
- despondency;
- gluttony.
As for Islam, its vices include not only moral ones, including arrogance, pride, self-love, hypocrisy, envy, cunning and greed, but also other vices. Which include: sins of unbelief and sins of the body (eyes, ears, tongue, arms, legs, stomach and genitals).
Basic principles of Islam
The Koran is the holy book of this religion. The originality of its content lies in the fact that Muslims believe that the text was “dictated” by Allah. Muhammad, being illiterate, transmitted it orally, and only after the death of the prophet they decided to write down the text . The Koran contains a description of the symbols of Islam:
- God is One.
- Belief in angels: servants of God.
- Faith in the Scriptures.
- Belief in prophets and messengers.
- Belief in Judgment Day.
- Belief in predestination.
A Muslim must observe the following duties:
- Shahada is a testimony of two main truths: “I testify that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.” It is enough to say this phrase in the presence of two Muslims, and you can consider yourself a representative of Islam.
- Daily prayer - namaz: 5 obligatory and any number of voluntary ones, mandatory purification before them, read in Arabic.
- Cleansing alms are a kind of tax in favor of the poor.
- Traditional fasting in the month of Ramadan.
- Pilgrimage to the cities of Mecca and Medina.
Important! After the death of Muhammad, the Sunna arose - the biography of the prophet, created by Islamic theologians.
How is God different from Allah?
To answer this question it is necessary to make a reference to the scriptures.
Thus, Islam teaches that Allah is the almighty Creator and Ruler of everything that exists. Muslims emphasize the absolute unity of God with man, which does not recognize division. God's will is the embodiment of his love and mercy.
However, Allah can also be angry if His Will is not fulfilled. The word Islam means submission. Also, according to Islam, God cannot be considered a father; he does not have a son. Allah does not love sinners (Sura 3: 140).
Like Islam, Christianity teaches that God is the Creator and Ruler of all things. This is where the similarities end. Christians believe in one God who exists in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) who share one indivisible essence. God has only love and mercy in his power. According to Christianity, God the father has an eternal relationship with God the son. God loves even sinners (Romans 5:8).
Islamic states
In the 7th century, nearby countries met the Arabs: the era of their conquests began. The result was the formation of a state that lasted almost four hundred years. The head of state is the caliph. The state is called the Arab Caliphate.
The Muslim world reached a new height of glory and power during the period of the Ottoman Empire. The emergence of this state is associated with the conquests of the Ottoman Turks. They established control over North Africa, the Middle East and the Balkans. The empire lasted from the 15th to the 19th centuries.
Important! In the modern world, states and peoples who profess Islam are widespread in the Asian region, Africa and the Middle East. Their number is also growing in Europe.
How Islam and Christianity are related
Christianity and Islam have been closely related since their inception. These religions originated from Judaism. They are also connected by contradictions, which at all times caused wars between them.
The Koran contains many stories from Christianity: about the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, about Jesus Christ, who had the ability to perform miracles, about his death and resurrection.
Islam, as a younger religion, emphasized much of the knowledge of Christianity, on which the main provisions in the Koran were subsequently based.
Features of Islam
- There are two main branches : Sunnis and Shiites. Briefly summarizing the essence of their differences, it boils down to the following. For Sunnis, the most important thing is to follow the Sunnah. Shiites, recognizing both the Sunnah and the Koran, emphasize the special role of Ali, one of the first imams, relative and successor of Muhammad.
- According to tradition, the service takes place in a mosque - a Muslim temple. The mosque has a minaret. This is the tower from which the muezzin invites you to prayer. It is not customary to depict people in the room. Upon entering, believers take off their shoes, women pray separately. The mosque holds a special place in Muslim communities. She is the center of public life.
- A set of rules for everyday life has been developed based on the Koran - Sharia. Almost all areas of relationships are regulated, strict commandments are defined. Perjury, adultery, theft, polytheism, and gambling are severely punished.
Important! Sharia is the basis of Islamic law.
Difference between Christianity and Islam
Although there are some similarities and relationships between these religions, their differences are more obvious and significant. So, Islam differs from Christianity in the following areas:
- The emergence of religion: as mentioned above, Islam appeared almost 600 years later than Christianity.
- Prophets: Muhammad in Islam had several wives, whom he beat, raided and plundered caravans, called for the killing of people of other religions, enslaved women and children in Medina. On the contrary, Jesus never married, did not kill anyone, and did not engage in raids or plunder.
- Sacred literature: for Christians it is the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, and for Muslims it is the Koran.
- Place for prayer: Islam - mosque, Christianity - church.
- Holy City: Christianity - Jerusalem; Islam - Mecca.
Main Book of Muslims
The main book of all Muslims is the Koran. It is believed that it is necessary to read it in the original, because any translation somewhat distorts what is written there. The Koran consists of 114 chapters, which are called suras. It is in this book that you can find the answer to the question of what differences exist between Islam and Islam. A true Muslim who knows the Koran will not name a single one. All people who profess Islam are Muslims. These concepts are synonymous.
Wahhabism
Speaking about Islam and Islam, about the difference between these concepts, one cannot help but recall Wahhabism. This movement arose in the 18th century in Saudi Arabia. The main goal of Wahhabism is to return Islam to its original purity and preserve it as it was during the time of the righteous caliphs. It was the representatives of this movement who were the first to propose getting rid of infidels, considering as such even Muslims who at least disagree with them on something. It was the Wahhabis who exterminated a large number of Shiites and plundered their holy places, tombs and mosques. Probably, it was with the advent of Wahhabis in the world that they began to wonder what the difference between Islam and Islam was. But this question cannot be considered ideologically correct. Wahhabism is also one of the currents of Islam, and representatives of this movement call themselves Muslims. However, the attitude of other representatives of the Muslim world towards the Wahhabis is ambiguous. Many consider them sectarians and accuse them of narrow-mindedness and excessive fanaticism. Orthodox Muslims speak out categorically against the Wahhabis, believing that their main object of worship is not the Holy Quran, but money and power. Currently, the concept of “Wahhabism” is associated exclusively with death, terrorism, and murder. Its spread led many people to doubt Islam. Now it is believed that Islam brings nothing but blood and destruction, although in fact the main shrines of this religion are peace, obedience and prosperity. The history of Wahhabism is war, deception, bribery. In other words, everything that has nothing to do with Muslim morality. Therefore, there is no need to separate Islam from Islam. There is no difference between these concepts; both words are directly related to the same religion.
Types of male Muslim names for boys
In general, all Muslim variations of names available in the modern name book can be divided into two categories, namely:
- Names derived from the 99 names of Allah. It is important to remember that in Islam a person does not have the right to pronounce the names of God, and therefore prefixes are always added to variations. For example, we are talking about the prefix “Abd”, with the help of which many names are formed (Abdullah or Abdurrahman);
- Derivatives from the names of the Prophets. It is believed that the bearers of these names are protected by patrons throughout their lives. By the way, the most popular among them is the Muslim name for boys Muhammad, which belongs to more than fifteen million people - most of them are the companions of the Prophet Saifullah.
How to choose a suitable Muslim name for your child?
Choosing a Muslim name for a boy is quite easy. They are often chosen from among the names that belonged to famous personalities, righteous people, and those who simply committed a significant act towards the Muslim people. But, as mentioned earlier, one must take into account the current: Shia, Imam, etc. And the main thing is that it has a noble meaning...
Female Muslim names are even easier to choose. Particularly popular in Muslim families are the names of women who once appeared in the life of the Prophet Muhammad. Also popular are the names of women who were famous in their time for their piety.
And no less popular are female Muslim names that mean the names of flowers. These include Gulnara, Reykhana and Aigul. In general, there are a lot of beautiful female and male Muslim names, and each has not only its own meaning, as in the case of Orthodox names, but also its own history, its own character, its own unique energy.

List of Muslim names
- Agathon
- Gulmira
- Dinara
- Irakli
- Lina
- Marat
- Maria
- Moses
- Ryan
- Renat
- Ruslan
- Rustam
As for the meaning, everything is quite simple. The Prophet Muhammad once called on Muslims to give children only names with noble meanings, because they will carry blessings and protect the child from harm. In addition, based on his own words, the meaning also plays a role due to the fact that “on the Day of Resurrection” Muslims will be called by the names of their fathers and their personal ones...
There is a tradition of calling boys and girls born in a Muslim family with Muslim names that belonged to great caliphs, imams, righteous people or ordinary outstanding personalities from among their ancestors. By the way, sometimes male Muslim names combine two names at once, and therefore two meanings - although, by and large, this practice is not welcomed by religion.
Female Muslim names
In the case of female Muslim names as such, there is no clear division into categories. There is only one thing in common among all variations - they should all be distinguished by softness and sonority, as well. should emphasize the dignity of a woman. As an example, here are several well-known female variations:
- Ayla – moon-like;
- Aliya – tall and sublime;
- Zakiya – innocent;
- Camila is perfect and whole.
But there are other variations of names that fall into the category of those derived from the names of revered plants (flowers). This:
- Gulnara – pomegranate flower;
- Zahra – flower, rose;
- Sidra - lotus.
In general, there are more than enough options, and all are beautiful and attractive in their own way. But nevertheless, you need to be careful when choosing a name for a child who is being taught the Muslim religion.
