Angel Day is celebrated by Christians and bearers of the name Ksenia (derivatives Aksinya, Oksana) three times a year, if I’m not mistaken. Meanwhile, some atheists and anti-Christian organizations are still trying to distort both the days of celebration of the birthday girls and the very origin of the name. The origin of the name Ksenia is associated with the ancient Greek word quot; Kseniaquot; - wanderer, stranger. Name days in Christianity are days of remembrance of the Saint, that is, a holiday day for a person bearing the name of the Saint (Saint). For example, a child bearing the name of a Holy person in life, in addition to the Guardian Angel, is also protected by the Saint (Saint) whose name the child is named. Ksenia's name day is celebrated according to the old style: January 24, March 7, May 24, and according to the new style: February 6, March 20, June 6.
A name such as Oksana is Ukrainian and in Orthodoxy is equated with Ksenia, that is, at baptism the name Ksenia is given. Xenia is a Greek name.
Name days are celebrated six times a year - in winter - on January 31 and February 6; in spring - April 16; in the summer - in July on the 8th and on the 26th of August; and in the fall in September on the 15th.
At baptism, all Oksanas are baptized and given the name Ksenia, therefore their name day is celebrated on the day of that saint Ksenia, whose memorial day falls very shortly after the birthday of the baptized slave Ksenia.
There are only three such days a year when all Oksanas and Ksenias can celebrate their name days: New Year's Eve - January 31, February 6 and August 26.
Now I’ll explain with an example how to choose the right Angel Day.
For example, if Oksana/Ksenia’s birthday falls between February 7 and August 25, then her name day, or Angel Day, will be celebrated on August 26.
If your birthday falls between January 1 and February 5, then your name day is February 6.

Angel Oksana Day
Translated from Greek, the meaning of the name Oksana is “wanderer”, “foreigner”. In addition, it is often interpreted as “hospitable.” In addition, it is known that Oksana is a colloquial form of the name Ksenia and is widely used in Ukraine. But many argue that Ksenia, Oksana and Aksinya are different names. As for Ksenia, according to historians, the name comes from the word “xenos” - “foreigner”. But Oksana and Aksinia have special prefixes. At the same time, they say that the prefix “O” to the name Oksana is a modified prefix of the Greek spelling of the Black Sea. It is interesting that from the point of view of writing, the meaning of the name Oksana is interpreted by mentioning Ksenia, but its interpretation and formation are associated with the name Aksinya.
The mystery of the origin of the name
Etymologists attribute Greek roots to the name. ξενία (xenia) has two translation options from ancient Greek - “hospitality” or “foreign citizenship”. Therefore, the name means “hospitable”, “welcoming” or “foreigner”. In the chronicles of Kievan Rus, mention of girls with this name can be found since 988.
There is another version of the origin
. The ancient Greeks, when receiving guests, recited small ironic poems in their honor - “xenia”. The couplets could be very caustic and caustic. Therefore, not everyone liked this tradition, especially people without a sense of humor.
The Slavs use a derivative version of the name Ksenia - Oksana. Although the dispute as to which of them appeared first and which is an abbreviation continues to this day. Another option is used - Axinia. According to one hypothesis, adding a vowel sound to a word starting with two consonants is a characteristic feature of the Russian language.
It is possible that all three names are not the same, but of different origins. This theory is confirmed by two ancient Greek names for the Black Sea - Akseinos (inhospitable) and Yuxeynos (hospitable). Etymology traces the characteristic change of the prefix “yu” to “o” in the second version, which formed the name Oksana. The first name is, accordingly, Aksinya.
Family and marriage
Oksana's view of the Family is quite ambiguous. On the one hand, girls named Oksana often get married quite late. On the other hand, they are ready to do anything for their family. Oksana adores her children and tries to establish close relationships.
Oksana quickly finds a common language with her beloved, creating a harmonious family. At first, she still tries to remake the man for herself, but only after a while she realizes the futility of her attempts. Most often, Oksana will refuse to live with her family and her parents. Her family must live by its own rules; relatives, as well as their views on family life, have no place here.
Character of the birthday girl
An active person who has a lot of energy and at the same time has a desire to apply it somewhere - that’s her. A bright, interesting, active person who is difficult to stop once she has already decided to do something. Extreme situations do not frighten her. She quickly navigates them and easily adapts to changed conditions. In this regard, it is worth limiting Oksana from gambling or her own business. Excessive activity will not withstand the necessary intensity and prudence and pragmatism. Where everything needs to be weighed many times, Oksana will act impulsively, which often leads to collapse.
When choosing a profession, Oksana does not look at the stability of her possible income or its popularity, but at her interests. Work that does not interest her is most often done automatically, leaving the girl dissatisfied and upset.
Due to her character traits, she considers the most interesting work to be a rescuer or a police officer. If no one stops the girl from making an impulsive decision, then soon a new active and reliable team member will appear in their ranks.

The story of Saint Oksana
The sixth of February is the day of St. Oksana (January 24 in old times) and we decided to find out more about the name of this saint and share it with you. At the beginning of the fifth century, there lived in Rome a wealthy and famous senator who had a daughter, Eusebia. When she grew up, he betrothed her to the son of a rich and noble family. However, the engagement was not nice to young Eusebia. Brought up among wealth and luxury, she did not find happiness in those luxurious things and was in no hurry to give her girlish heart even to the best young man. Innocent and extremely pious Eusevia dreamed only of always belonging, soul and body, to Jesus alone, whom she loved with all her pure heart from childhood more than anything else in the world. Knowing that her parents would not agree to their rich daughter spending her life as a wench until her death, Eusevia hid her holy secret at the bottom of her heart and did not say a word to her parents about her intentions, she only thought about how to get out of her annoying situation. . Meanwhile, the parents, who had no idea about their daughter’s holy intentions, were already preparing for the wedding. They even set a wedding day. The time was coming when Eusebia had to take the decisive step. Confident that Jesus was calling her to a more perfect life, Eusebia revealed the secret of her heart to two of her maids, whom she trusted, telling them that she wanted to leave her parents’ home and her betrothed and go to someone else’s distant land, so that there, alone, she could devote herself to the service of God. . The pious servants agreed to go with their young lady, all three dressed in men's clothes and on the eve of Eusebia's marriage they went to the sea at night, where they boarded a ship and sailed in the direction of Alexandria. Eusevia took with her some jewelry, money for travel and food. In order to cover up any traces of themselves, they settled on the sparsely populated island of Koa, not far from the Carian city of Alikarnassus. When they were no longer afraid of pursuit, they changed into women's clothing again and began an incredible righteous life. Eusevia called herself Xenia, that is, a stranger , and asked her friends never to tell anyone who she was or where she was from. Having rented a small house, which stood apart from other houses, they began to live only for God in prayer, fasting and work. But since this was not easy for them, because they were not completely adapted to such a way of life, they repeatedly asked God to give them his help. When all three devout girls, completely surrendered to God's Providence, were living out the days of their harsh lives on the island of Koa, God sent them a man who became their best guardian and spiritual guide. This was Apostle Paul, abbot of the monastery of St. Andrew in the Carian city of Milassi.
Hegumen Paul, having heard about the pious girls, visited them during his return from Jerusalem, and seeing that they did not have a spiritual guide, he took them with him to Milassia, where Ksenia bought a house not far from the church and converted it into a monastery. Soon several more outside girls expressed their desire, and so a much larger group began to lead a monastic life together; their new monastery began to be called Koa. Now Saint Xenia could think without hindrance and try only to please God most of all. I started fasting very strictly. She spent whole nights praying on her knees with her hands raised to the sky. She was always extremely soft, quiet, full of love and silent. At that time, Bishop Milassi died, and Abbot Paul became his successor. Then, following the long-standing Christian custom, he ordained St. Ksenia became a deaconess to do various services in the church, and most importantly take care of the women. But Saint Xenia did not serve God on earth for long. The Lord very soon called her for a heavenly reward. When one day Bishop Paul went with all the clergy to the village of Levkin, where a celebration was taking place at the relics of St. Ephraim, the former bishop of Milassi, St. Xenia called all the sisters to the monastery church and told them that the time had come for her separation from them. Then she asked to pray for her, and she also prayed before the throne of God for them and for Bishop Paul. Having said goodbye to them, she asked them to leave her alone.
When everyone had left, she knelt down and prayed; Subsequently, she fell crosswise to the ground and remained in conversation with God for a long time. Suddenly a clear light shone in the church, and a pleasant smell began to come from the church. Then all the sisters ran to the church, and when they saw Saint Xenia on the ground, they wanted to raise her, and saw that she was dead. This happened on Saturday, January 24, 450 (February 6 according to the current calendar). Then a brilliant cross in a shining wreath appeared above the monastery. Those miraculous phenomena were seen by the Milassians who were returning from the divine service with Bishop Paul. They were surprised and did not know what this could mean, only Pavel understood the meaning of the phenomenon and said: “Abbess Ksenia has died.” Everyone was convinced as soon as they arrived in the city. Many people came to the funeral of the Reverend Mother Ksenia, who wanted to see Ksenia at least after her death. When the relics of the late abbess were carried to the tomb, people saw a new miracle: that wreath with a cross that appeared over the monastery accompanied them right up to the place where they buried that holy maiden, who, out of love for Christ, renounced the wealth of the world and all earthly possessions. luxury, but chose a life of purity and prayers to God. Later, both at the relics and at the tomb of Saint Xenia, many more miraculous healings occurred.
The mystery of the name
The secret of a name can be considered a character trait that does not allow one to admit one’s own mistakes. When the situation gets worse, she will not check what she screwed up, but will immediately rush to look for the culprits around. Sometimes this can reach the point of outright nonsense. When communicating with her, you need to feel the line and know when to wash your hands, otherwise all the blame will fall on you.
There is a second secret. No matter how rich the inner world of girls with that name is, they do not allow anyone into it. Even loved ones. You shouldn’t pry out her secrets; you won’t succeed anyway.
