On February 2, 2021, in the Cathedral Chamber of the Moscow Diocesan House - the main building of the Orthodox St. Tikhon's Humanitarian University, an in-person round of the XV Multidisciplinary Olympiad of PSTGU "Axios" was held, in which about 650 students from 33 regions of Russia took part.

Traditionally, the full-time round of the Axios Olympiad, which was conducted by eight faculties of PSTGU, was dedicated to the memory of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia: this year, February 1 marks the 155th anniversary of his birth, April 7 marks the 95th anniversary of the saint’s death.

Before the start of the Olympics, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Church of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir in the Moscow Diocesan House. Deputy Dean of the Theological Faculty for Educational Work, Priest John Vorobyov, addressed the participants of the Olympiad with a welcoming speech. He reminded those gathered about His Holiness Patriarch Tikhon and the historical Local Council of 1917-1918, which took place within the walls of the Cathedral Chamber, and that many participants in the Council accepted the feat of confession. Father John called for prayer to the new martyrs and turning to them in difficult situations. He also emphasized that the Church needs educated people and expressed hope to see participants in the Olympiad among the university students. In conclusion, the priest wished those present success in completing their tasks.

Before the start of the tests, excursions to the Museum of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia were organized for the participants of the Olympiad; adults accompanying the participants were able to visit the museum while the schoolchildren were completing their Olympiad tasks.

The full-time tour for schoolchildren in grades 6-11 was held in the following fields: fundamentals of Christianity, Russian language, English language, Church Slavonic language, literature, social studies, Russian history, mathematics, music, painting, geography.

Additional tests in sociology, pedagogy and economics were organized for schoolchildren in grades 9-11.

Traditionally, participants are given 2.5-3 hours to complete the tasks of the Olympiad, while those who wish have the opportunity, after passing one work, to try their hand at another area of knowledge. Many participants write two papers, but there are also those who complete assignments in three or even four subjects.

The results of the full-time round will be published on the PSTGU website in early March. On March 15, the closing ceremony of the XV Multidisciplinary Olympiad of PSTGU “Axios” will take place.

The Olympiad is held on the basis of general education school programs and includes two rounds - full-time and extramural. Participation in the Olympiad is taken into account when entering PSTGU. The Olympiad profiles “Literature” and “Social Studies” are included in the list of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, which allows participants to receive additional points when entering other universities.

Participation in all rounds of the Olympiad is free. All participants receive certificates, prize-winners receive certificates, winners receive certificates and prizes. Teachers who trained the winners and prize-winners are awarded certificates of gratitude; Letters of gratitude recognize the success of schools whose students regularly show good results.
