All-Russian Literary Prize “In the Beginning Was the Word” is a competition for a literary prize for aspiring poets and prose writers, the competition is held with the assistance of the all-Russian public organization “Union of Writers of Russia.”
The goal of the All-Russian Literary Prize “In the Beginning Was the Word” is to maintain the completeness of the national literary process in Russia, preserve the spiritual, moral, creative and professional traditions of Russian literature, their development and transmission to new generations of poets and prose writers. The main objective of the prize is to find talented authors and popularize their work. Participants in the literary prize can be citizens of the Russian Federation and another country who create works of art in Russian (age up to 45 years inclusive). The nominations of the competition for the All-Russian Literary Award “In the Beginning Was the Word” are “Poetry”, “Prose”, “Literature for Children”.
Conditions for participation in the competition for the All-Russian Literary Prize “In the Beginning Was the Word”
One author in each nomination is given the opportunity to propose for the competition: - no more than ten poems in the “Poetry” nomination; — one or more works with a total volume of no more than 25 thousand characters in the “Prose” category; - no more than ten poems, or one or more prose works with a total volume of no more than 25 thousand characters in the “Literature for Children” category. Mandatory requirements for the design of manuscripts: file in Microsoft Word format (doc. or rtf). Font - Times New Roman. Font size - 14. Page parameters (margins): top - 2 cm, bottom - 2 cm, left - 3.5 cm, right - 1.5 cm. Line spacing - single. The application requires the author's information, creative biographical information, and contact information. Dates of the All-Russian Literary Prize “In the Beginning Was the Word”
Acceptance of works for the award is carried out until April 25, 2020 inclusive; The qualifying stage in the regions of the Russian Federation, the formation of a long list of the award will take place from April 26, 2021 to May 31, 2020 inclusive; The long list of awards is published - June 01, 2020; Final selection, formation of a short list of the award from June 2, 2021 to June 30, 2021; Publication of the short list of the award - July 1, 2021; During the period 01 - 02 August 2021, an all-Russian literary seminar will take place, summing up the results of the award and awarding the laureates.

Regulations on the Schoolchildren Olympiad “In the beginning was the Word...”
General provisions
1.1. These Regulations on the Olympiad for schoolchildren “In the beginning was the Word...” (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) were developed on the basis of Federal Law dated December 29, 2012 No. 273-FZ “On Education in the Russian Federation”, order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated April 4. 2014 No. 267 “On approval of the Procedure for holding school Olympiads” (hereinafter referred to as the Procedure for holding school Olympiads), order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated December 10, 2014 No. 1563 “On amending the Procedure for holding school Olympiads, approved by order of the Ministry Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated April 4, 2014 No. 267” and determines the procedure for organizing and holding the Olympiad for schoolchildren “In the Beginning Was the Word...” (hereinafter referred to as the Olympiad), its organizational and methodological support, the procedure for participation and determination of winners and prize-winners.
1.2. The Olympiad is held in accordance with federal laws, other regulations containing norms governing relations regarding the conduct of Olympiads for schoolchildren, as well as local regulations.
1.3. This Regulation is valid during the 2020–2021 academic year.
1.4. The main goals of the Olympics are:
- identification and development in students of general education organizations mastering educational programs of basic general and secondary general education, including persons mastering the educational program of secondary general education in the form of family education or self-education, as well as persons mastering these educational programs abroad, creative abilities and interest in research activities, in the study of the “spiritual foundations” of subjects studied in the school curriculum;
- creating the necessary conditions to support gifted children;
- dissemination and popularization of scientific knowledge among young people;
- vocational guidance for young people in the early stages of personality formation;
- advanced training of teaching staff, students, undergraduates, graduate students, researchers taking part in the Olympiad.
1.5. The organizer of the Olympics is the Autonomous non-profit organization of higher education "Russian Orthodox University of St. John the Theologian" (hereinafter - the University) with the support of the Religious organization "Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church", the Commission for Interaction with Universities and the Scientific Community under the Diocesan Council of Moscow and Moscow International Higher School of Business "MIRBIS" (Institute).
State authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation may be involved in the organization and holding of the Olympics; dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church; organizations carrying out educational activities; scientific organizations, the media and other organizations on the basis of cooperation agreements in the field of holding Olympiads for schoolchildren.
1.6. The Olympiad is held in general education subjects: Russian language, literature, history, social studies .
1.7. The working language of the Olympics is Russian.
1.8. The official portal of the Olympics is located on the Internet at the address: https://olimp.rpu.rf (hereinafter referred to as the Olympics portal).
1.9. Financial support for the Olympics is provided by the Organizers of the Olympics. There is no fee for participation in the Olympics.
Organizational and methodological support for the Olympiad
2.1. For organizational and methodological support of the Olympiad, the following are created annually: an organizing committee (hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee), a jury and methodological commissions of the Olympiad.
2.2. The organizing committee, jury, methodological commissions of the Olympiad are formed from the teaching staff and other categories of employees of the organizers and partners of the Olympiad, as well as representatives of government authorities, philanthropists and members of the public.
2.3. General management of the preparation and holding of the Olympics is carried out by the Organizing Committee of the Olympics.
2.4. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympics is the Rector of the Autonomous non-profit organization of higher education “Russian Orthodox University of St. John the Theologian”.
2.5. Organizing Committee of the Olympics:
- develops and annually approves the Regulations on the Olympiad, the Regulations of the Olympiad and the Regulations on the procedure for filing and considering appeals for the current academic year;
- establishes the form and timing of the stages of the Olympics;
- ensures the direct holding of the Olympics;
- forms the composition of the jury, methodological and appeal commissions of the Olympics;
- approves materials for Olympiad assignments;
- approves the evaluation criteria for completed tasks;
- hears reports from the Olympic jury;
- approves the list of winners and prize-winners of the Olympics;
- considers, together with methodological commissions and jury members, appeals of Olympiad participants;
- publishes on the Olympiad portal lists of winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad, as well as the works of the winners and prize-winners of the final stage;
- awards winners and prize-winners of the Olympics;
- provides free access to information about the conditions and requirements for holding the Olympics via the Internet through the Olympics portal;
- organizes information support for the Olympics;
- approves and submits to the Russian Council of Olympiads for Schoolchildren (hereinafter referred to as RSOS) a report on the results of the Olympiad (if the Olympiad is included in the list of RSOS for the current academic year);
- enters information about the Olympic medalists and winners into the federal information system;
- approves and submits to RSOSh an application for inclusion of the Olympiad in the List of Olympiads for schoolchildren for the current academic year;
- carries out other functions and powers necessary for organizing and holding the Olympics.
2.6. For the period of all stages of the Olympiad, methodological commissions of the Olympiad are created for each general education subject.
2.7. Methodological commissions of the Olympiad:
- develop materials for Olympiad assignments for each general education subject for all stages of the Olympiad;
- develop criteria for evaluating completed Olympiad tasks for each general education subject for all stages of the Olympiad;
- consider appeals of Olympic participants together with the Organizing Committee and members of the jury;
- ensure the confidentiality of Olympiad assignment materials and non-disclosure of their content;
- submit proposals to the Organizing Committee to improve the organization and holding of the Olympics;
- carry out other functions and powers necessary for organizing and holding the Olympics.
2.8. For the period of all stages of the Olympics, an Olympic jury is created.
2.9. Olympic jury:
- checks and evaluates the results of the Olympiad tasks by the Olympiad participants;
- submits proposals for candidacies of winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad for approval by the Organizing Committee for each stage of the Olympiad;
- considers, together with the Organizing Committee and methodological commissions, appeals of Olympiad participants;
- submits proposals to the Organizing Committee to improve the organization and holding of the Olympics;
- carries out other functions and powers necessary for organizing and holding the Olympics.
2.10. An appeal commission is created to consider appeals based on the results of the final stage. The procedure for filing and considering appeals is determined by the Regulations on the procedure for filing and considering appeals for the current academic year.
The procedure for organizing and holding the Olympics
3.1. The Olympiad is held on a voluntary basis for students in grades 8–11 studying in the educational program of basic general and secondary general education, including persons mastering the educational program of secondary general education in the form of family education or self-education, as well as persons mastering the specified educational programs abroad.
3.2. Participants of the Olympiad must go through the registration procedure on the Olympiad portal in the manner prescribed by the Olympiad Regulations.
3.3. The Olympiad is held in two stages :
- qualifying stage – in absentia (using remote technologies);
- the final stage is in person.
3.4. The dates for the qualifying and final stages of the Olympiad are determined by the decision of the Organizing Committee and are published on the Olympiad portal.
3.5. The final stage of the Olympics is held in Moscow and other regional venues, the list of which is annually established by the Organizing Committee and published on the Olympics portal.
3.6. Based on the results of the final stage, Olympic participants can file an appeal.
Summing up the Olympics
4.1. The results of the Olympiad are summed up based on the individual results of the participants.
4.2. The winners and prize-winners of the stages of the Olympiad are determined from among the participants in the corresponding stage of the Olympiad.
4.3. The number of winners and prize-winners of each stage is determined in accordance with the Procedure for holding Olympiads for schoolchildren.
The number of winners of the qualifying stage of the Olympics should not exceed 45% of the total actual number of participants in the qualifying stage of the Olympics.
The number of winners of the final stage of the Olympics should not exceed 8% of the total actual number of participants in the final stage of the Olympics.
The total number of winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the Olympics should not exceed 25% of the total actual number of participants in the final stage of the Olympics.
4.4. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympics are determined based on the results of the final stage of the Olympics. The winners of the Olympiad are the participants of the Olympiad who were awarded first degree diplomas. Olympiad participants who are awarded II and III degree diplomas are considered Olympic winners.
4.5. Lists of winners and prize-winners of the final stage are posted on the Olympics portal.
4.6. Winners and medalists of the Olympics are awarded diplomas and memorable gifts.
4.7. Participants in the final stage of the Olympiad who showed good results, but were not included in the list of winners and prize-winners, by decision of the Organizing Committee, may be awarded certificates of commendation and/or memorable gifts in additional nominations.
4.8. The awarding of diplomas to the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad is carried out within the time limits established by the Organizing Committee. Information about the date, place and time of presentation of diplomas to the winners and prize-winners of the final stage is posted on the Olympiad portal.
4.9. Winners and runners-up of the Olympiad can receive an electronic copy of their diploma on the official RSOS portal (if the Olympiad is included in the List of Olympiads for schoolchildren for the current academic year).
Special rights and benefits for winners and runners-up
5.1. Upon admission to study in educational organizations of higher education, by decision of the educational organization, winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad may be granted special rights provided for by the regulatory documents of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and other regulatory legal acts of educational organizations of higher education (if the Olympiad is included in List of Olympiads for schoolchildren for the current academic year).
5.2. The status of winner or prize-winner of the qualifying stage of the Olympiad or the final stage in the general education subjects “Russian Language”, “Literature”, “Social Studies”, “History” is counted as an individual achievement when admitted to the Autonomous non-profit organization of higher education “Russian Orthodox University of St. John the Theologian”. The procedure for taking into account individual achievements is established by the University Admission Rules.
