  1. About help in finding a job, about getting a promotion or getting rid of financial problems.
  2. About help in creating a family, about peace and tranquility between relatives, about their well-being.
  3. If it is impossible to conceive a child.
  4. About healing from illness.
  5. During life's difficulties, due to which an Orthodox Christian has lost courage and faith.

You can also turn to a saint to receive God's forgiveness.

How to read correctly

There are no strict rules for reading the akathist. The main thing is that the conversion comes from a pure heart, and that the believer has good intentions. Reading “for show” is not suitable.

It is recommended to follow several rules:

  1. Read the akathist while standing. Only those who, due to age or health, cannot stand can sit.
  2. You need to contact the icon of Mitrofan of Voronezh. If it is not there, you should turn to the window.
  3. For the first time, you don’t have to read the akathist, but listen to it in a recording to make it easier.
  4. Before the akathist, an opening prayer is read. It can be supplemented with a prayer to the Holy Spirit and “Our Father” (read 3 times). At the end there should be a prayer “It is worthy to eat” or an appeal to the guardian angel.

If desired and if possible, before reading, the believer can confess and receive communion.

When and why to read

You can turn to Saint Mitrofan any day when a believer feels the need for it. There are no restrictions on days or quantity, but during Lent akathists are not read. In churches, the akathist to Mitrofan of Voronezh is usually read on the days of his memory at Matins or at Prayer Service. You can do this at home any day.

It is worth remembering that the akathist often takes a lot of mental strength and may turn out to be too difficult. If you wish, you can ask your confessor for permission to read in advance.
