You must take a stand against the devil before he stands up against you. You are standing on the battlefield (it is no longer what it was last year). Perhaps you are standing in the middle of an army, or perhaps you are standing all alone.
Are you going to just stand there waiting to see what happens? Or are you going to do something that will allow you to gain and maintain an advantage?
King David left us a psalm that should become ours too, so that we can be real winners: “I pursue my enemies, and overtake them, and do not return until I destroy them” (Ps. 17:38). He was a true winner, determined to finally put an end to his enemies, but was always aware that he needed help to do this .
Many of you know about my experiences over the past few years. I was knocked down in the spiritual ring, but I rose again because those who love God are not weaklings. And I intend to never, never, never give up!
Book of Wars
In the book of Numbers I found one interesting phrase: “For this reason it is said in the book of the battles of the Lord” (Num. 21:14). What is this book? The Book of the Wars of the Lord is neither part of the canonical Scriptures nor any of the other books mentioned in the Bible, such as the “book of remembrance” (see Mal. 3:16) or the “book of tears” (see Ps. 55:9) . Perhaps we can view the Book of the Wars of the Lord as a book that is not yet completed, and that we ourselves can help complete it, since we too are involved in the fight against the enemy .
For each of us, the battle will not end until the end of our days. Born in the midst of battle and for battle, we follow our Commander-in-Chief, whose mission is to destroy the works of the devil. We don't fight against our spouses, our children, our bosses or our pastors. We fight against the spiritual forces of darkness that constantly pursue us.
I like to think that our constant war is a sign of life, and proof that we are not defeated. The Lord of Life wages war through us. Our efforts come (or should come) from the primacy of the Son of God in our personal lives.
As we engage in one struggle after another, we not only conquer Satan, but we also are transformed personally and as a Body as a whole. The entire Church is in the process of changing, becoming a new creation in Christ, growing and becoming mature and conquering the darkness of the old regime.

HOW TO OVERCOME THE DEVIL (English) Dr. R. L. Hymers Jr. by Dr. R. L. Hymers, Jr. A sermon preached at the Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles Lord's Day Evening, November 6, 2016 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and did not love their own lives even to the death” (Revelation 12:11). |
Satan and his demonic angels were cast out of heaven. They still had freedom in the skies. Satan was called “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). Demons were still able to enter “the heavenly [places]” (Ephesians 6:12)—and at times they were in the “heavenly places.” This is why Job 1:6 tells us that demons “came... to present themselves before the Lord; Satan also came among them.” But they will no longer be able to do this after the first three and a half years of the Tribulation. The Tribulation is a seven-year period of great persecution against Israel and Christians during the coming of the Antichrist. The Tribulation begins with the Antichrist signing a covenant with Israel (Daniel 9:27).
In the middle of the seven-year Tribulation, Satan and his demons will be cast out from the heavenly realms and cast down to earth! We read:
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought against them, but they did not stand, and there was no longer a place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world, he was cast out to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:7-9).
For this reason, Satan will be furious. For we are told: “The devil has come down to you in great wrath, knowing that he has little time left” (Revelation 12:12).
The devil is beginning to rage more and more even now. He knows that the rebirth of Israel is one of the signs of the end. He knows the signs of the end better than most preachers and theology professors. This is why Christians need to be more aware of the “wiles of the devil.” That is why, as the end of this age approaches, we need to wage more and more “warfare” against him and his demons. This is why we are given the warning: “In the last days perilous times will come” (II Timothy 3:1). The devil already knows “that he has little time left” (Revelation 12:12).
Some people teach that there can be no revival at this time. They say that the power that Satan now has is too great for God to bring revival into our churches.
Lawyer Jay Sekulow recently said: “What is happening now in Iraq and Syria is the ultimate scenario of what will happen to Christians. They are burned alive, crucified and beheaded. And now ISIS is starting to use chemical weapons. This is unbearable mass destruction.” But at the same time, the greatest awakenings of all time are currently taking place in Iran, Iraq and Syria. Mr. Sekulow suggests that they send him money to stop the Muslim terrorists there. I will say that this is nonsense! Nonsense! They don't need money! They need us to pray that God will continue to come to them in revival! This is why they need Christians to pray:
“Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down! the mountains would melt at Thy presence... so that Thy name might be made known to Thy enemies; The nations would tremble at Your presence” (Isaiah 64:1-2).
Dr. Lloyd-Jones says, “This is the most that can be asked for in revival prayer... an urgent, urgent prayer for the coming of God's Spirit in revival. There are no words that could better express this [prayer] than the words of Cowper’s hymn: “Dissolve the heavens, come down, and receive thousands of souls to yourself” ... The children of Israel ... were to meet hostile nations, they were to be surrounded by enemies, but what happened to them before that? Here is a God with them who can move mountains, and that is what [we need] to pray for” (Lloyd-Jones, Revival, Crossway Books, 1994 edition, pp. 305, 307).
When you read about the horrors committed by Muslims against Christians, don't send money to a lawyer in America! How can he, or anyone else on this earth, help them? They are already having an awakening and hundreds of Muslims are turning to the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't send money. This won't help them at all! Send powerful prayers to God Almighty. He and only He can save them. Even when these Christian converts are burned alive, crucified, and beheaded, God receives them with open arms into eternal heavenly joy. And these martyrs, through their suffering, inspire more and more Muslims to turn from terrorism to the crucified Christ who died on the Cross to save their souls. As Tertullian said in the second century about ancient Christians who were persecuted by the pagan Romans: “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.” We hear that Muslim leaders are already in fear because many of their followers are turning to the Lord Jesus Christ. The great reformer Luther wrote a hymn for the persecuted Christians of his time. This is number 7 on your song sheet.
Our stronghold is the eternal God, He is strength and protection He helped us get out of troubles, Our life is hidden in Him... Our ancient enemy does not sleep, He threatens us with death; He always lives on earth only to harm, He is the most terrible in the world. For centuries we will not defeat the formidable enemy ourselves. Only one can, without difficulty, bind him with chains. Who is he? - the question sounds. Lord Jesus Christ! He was, is and is to come, He is the same to all generations - the All-Powerful Victor. (“Our stronghold is the eternal God” Martin Luther, D.D., 1483-1546).
And this is exactly what happened in China. Communist dictator Mao Zedong expelled foreign missionaries from China. During the Cultural Revolution, churches were burned to the ground. Pastors were thrown into prison. Thousands of Chinese Christians were tortured, killed or imprisoned. But God was with them. The great awakening of Christianity began. The communists tried everything they could to stop the spread of Christianity. But they failed. There are currently more than 150 million Christians in China. Today there are more people in the churches of China than in the churches of all America, Canada and Europe! The same God who did it in Communist China can do it in the Middle East! In fact, He already does! Pray that God will raise up tens of thousands more Christians in these Muslim countries! As Martin Luther said:
Let our enemies deprive us of Freedom and family, May troubles, death and darkness await them on crooked paths, And the Lord will give us the kingdom.
Exactly the same thing will happen to true Christians during the approaching Great Tribulation. Satan will make violent attacks on them.
The enemies of Christ will come and imprison and execute thousands of Christians. But they will still defeat Satan! How?
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and did not love their own lives even to the death” (Revelation 12:11).
“Blood of the Lamb.” The blood of Jesus Christ will preserve them forever. Even today, when Satan attacks you, when he brings sadness and hopelessness into your heart, remember the Blood of Christ. When you look to the Blood of the Savior, you, like the Tribulation Christians, will be delivered from self-pity and fear. You will overcome Satan by the Blood of the Lamb of God, which takes away all sin and sorrow.
They will also defeat Satan
“by the word of his testimony.” They will testify about Jesus their Savior. Martyrdom is a great victory over Satan. “The blood of the martyrs is [truly] the seed of the church.” Pastor Samuel Lam was repeatedly imprisoned in China. Finally, he said, “The communists stopped arresting me. They stopped arresting me because every time they sent me to prison, our church grew. More persecution means more blessings!”
Stand up and sing number 8 on your song sheet.
Faith is alive and will not die, neither at the stake nor by the sword. How the heart sings joyfully, If faith in us is ardent! Living faith, we need you now even in the hour of death. (“Living Faith” Frederick W. Faber, 1814-1863).
And Tribulation Christians will defeat Satan by their willingness to die for Christ. “And they did not love their own lives even to death.” They did not love their lives so much that they could, if necessary, die for Christ. This is how they defeat Satan. Stand up and let's sing number 8 again:
Faith is alive and will not die, neither at the stake nor by the sword. How the heart sings joyfully, If faith in us is ardent! Living faith, we need you now even in the hour of death. The fathers went to prison for their faith, but the world could not overcome them. May God grant to young hearts such fidelity to the end. Living faith, we need you now even in the hour of death.
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and did not love their own lives even to the death” (Revelation 12:11).
The people who are victorious over Satan today are the people whose lives today are the fulfillment of these words. For 42 years we have prayed for God to bring revival to our church. But awakening never came. The reason is clear to me. People walked for a while, then stopped because they returned to sin. How could such unconverted people ever experience a revival? This would be impossible. Year after year they left so they could live sinful and selfish lives. Eventually, these departures stopped. Eventually, some of our children were truly converted. Then, gradually, others came and were also truly converted. At the end there were only four or five “church” children left who were still unconverted. And then God finally answered our prayers. When the wicked left, God sent us a revival.
One of the girls began to truly, sincerely pray for awakening. Then one of the women could not stand it and also began to pray with tears for awakening. Around the same time, three young men came to my home to pray together for revival. And finally, when almost all the worldly, lost people left, we received an answer to our prayers. Within a few weeks, we hoped 24 people had converted! They experienced deep conviction of sin. They cried, groaned and came to Jesus. Two of them were already over 80, which is quite unusual these days. Thirteen of them were college-age youth. One of them was a Southern Baptist man who died. For many months he argued with me, proving to me that he was saved. But he became truly saved this year, during the awakening! We have never seen 24 people apply in such a short period of time. We all felt God's presence at these meetings. In just a few weeks I'm going to baptize some of them.
This will be a very joyful moment, it will be a time of giving thanks to God for such an outpouring of His Spirit, for drawing these people to Christ, for the sake of their cleansing from sin through the Blood shed by Him on the Cross. Next Saturday night, be ready to testify of what God has done for you!
We'll probably see a few more encouraging calls before the end of the year. Last night we had another call. And I am sure that we will always remember this year 2021 as the year of our first God-sent awakening.
It should not be assumed, however, that the church will always be in a state of revival. It may be many months or even years before God sends him to us again. In the meantime, we need to thank God for this great outpouring of His Spirit. We do not need to seek a constant state of awakening, otherwise we will end up in sadness and disappointment. The church cannot live in a constant state of revival. It would turn into a revival on steroids! It would simply burn us out. So let us pause for a moment to simply praise God for these 24 conversions. New requests will occur from time to time. And I believe that in the future, there may well be another awakening, much greater than this. But throughout the rest of this year, let us rejoice in God's power and in the Blood of Christ. And may we all pray together for these new believers, that they, like the Tribulation Christians, may “conquer [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and love not their own life even to death” (Revelation 12:11). Let us stand and sing this song, the theme song of this God-sent revival. This is number 9 on your song sheet.
Be my vision, Savior, so that I may walk the path with Jesus; May you lead me through the valley, May you embrace me with glory in the middle of night and day. With your vision, Lord, abide, illuminate my spirit with Your glory. Be my vision, and let everyone see Your holy image in me. Fill my gaze, so that I wish for Your Glory, and break with the world. May perfection and Your love fill me with Heavenly Light. With your vision, Lord, abide, illuminate my spirit with Your glory. Be my vision, and let everyone see Your holy image in me. Fill my gaze, do not let sin into my heart, where Your light has created paradise for me. Let me see Your blessed face, And satisfy my spirit with grace. With your vision, Lord, abide, illuminate my spirit with Your glory. Be my vision, and let everyone see Your holy image in me. (“Fill my gaze” Avis Burgeson Christiansen, 1895-1985).
And if you are still not saved, we urge you to repent of your sin and turn to Christ - trust Him, and be cleansed of your sin by the Blood He shed for you on the Cross. You need to feel your sinfulness. Then you need to trust Jesus to wash away your sins with the Blood He shed on the Cross. Amen!

Why is Satan persecuting you?
Don't you sometimes feel like the devil has drawn a target on you? What did you do to attract his unwanted attention? I gained a redeeming perspective on why I go through so many battles. Let me share some thoughts I've learned along the way.
First, you are a friend of God. God created you for His pleasure, and He delights in you (see Rev. 4:11). He finds so much joy in you that He sent His Son to redeem you from the hands of His enemy, to accept you as His child. He takes such delight in you that He beautifies you and makes you capable of reflecting His image, which is what you were created to do.
And since Satan cannot attack God directly, he attacks His friends. He is trying to pull the rug out from under your feet. The devil is trying to paralyze your plans, abort your dreams and dissolve your hope. He opposes everything that can help you get close to God's heart.
The true situation is that the devil is terribly jealous of you. Who do you think you are, giving glory to God, submitting yourself to Him as your Father and Lord, and resisting evil at every turn?
What are Satan's favorite tactics?
He carries out his evil plans in certain predictable ways. With his limited range, all he can do is mix standard ingredients of the same recipe differently.
Here is a short list of his favorite tactics against human beings:
1. Delay . Weaken and wear you down. Cause you to go astray (see Dan. 10:2-14).
2. Trick . To thwart God's plans by turning principles into law. To move you from the stability of truth to the instability of error (see Rev. 12:9).
3. Absent-mindedness . Lose your focus. Force you to focus on only one side of an issue. A time of great intimacy with God can turn into great conflict (see Proverbs 4:27).
4. Disappointment . Exaggerate the weaknesses of others, offend and embitter you.
Delay, cunning, distraction and frustration - each of these tactics is slow-acting. You may not even see it right away. Sometimes it seems that Satan is more patient than you as he encroaches on your peace inch by inch. It may not come at you instantly, although it may seem sudden when it does.
New in blogs
I respect people of faith - those who believe in a single Creator who created our universe, our reality. Who believe in the Truth, in the knowability of this wonderful world, who continuously improve spiritually, intellectually and physically, do good, encourage those who do good... Who strive for peace on Earth, for prosperity and harmony, for general prosperity, the Kingdom of Heaven - and believe in its achievability.
Let them call the Creator by different names - each in their own language, but everyone recognizes that there can only be one Creator, otherwise this world would be completely unknowable and chaotic. We see something completely different in the world around us (and in ourselves) - harmony, regularity, evolution... This is what strengthens us in faith and allows us to study and comprehend this world with our minds, feelings, and our whole being.
The Creator is omnipotent and above everything, including time and space. He does not need anything or anyone - neither our worship, nor our sacrifices and rituals... However, this does not mean his indifference and detachment: He monitors the development of events, and if some processes become destructive and dangerous for surrounding world, then He can intervene and change the course of evolution. This is not difficult for him, because... He has power over both time and space.
Such faith in the Creator does not contradict science, does not limit a person’s ability to think and logic, but, on the contrary, contributes to his development. True faith has nothing to do with religious obscurantism and blind, thoughtless worship and ritual performance.
This path leads to Truth and Love, to the understanding that everything in this world is good from our Creator! All matter, all reality is good, wealth given to us by the Creator! There is no evil in nature!
Where did man's division of the world into good and evil come from? The scriptures claim that this happened after eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And a certain Devil seduced the man.
Thus, it becomes clear that the Devil is not something real, unlike the Creator. This is just an illusion, a deception. He has no real power over us, but is only able to seduce us. But it depends only on us whether we will be tempted or not! It is we who give him power over ourselves and become an instrument in his hands when we divide our world into good and evil! When we call some qualities of people good, and others - bad, when we evaluate people according to the principle of “us or foe”, “good or bad”.
Those who believe in the existence of evil, who fear the Devil more than God, worship the Devil! It is they who give him power and contribute to his materialization, his embodiment in this world! It is because of them that wars, violence, and terror do not end on Earth!
They kill each other not in the name of God, but at the behest of the Devil! But they themselves don’t realize it.
There is an ancient legend about a monster, a dragon, who torments the people and whom no one can kill. Because the one who kills this dragon turns into it himself.
This dragon is the embodiment of universal evil. And before you fight it, you need to kill the evil WITHIN YOURSELF. We need to stop dividing the world into good and evil, and see it holistically, objectively, as it is! Only such a person can defeat the dragon without turning into one!
I wish you success!
How do I overcome these strategies?
For each of the enemy's tactics, there are certain steps we can take in the opposite direction. Like the antidote used against the venom of snakes, these strategies will help you resist and defeat the devil's wiles:
1. Act on God's Promises (Versus Delay).
As a friend of mine said: “Successful people act quickly and change their minds slowly.” God's promises are true today and every day. So while the timing of some promises is important, you can always act on what you know to be true. Declare His promises loudly until they take root in your soul. And then act on the eternal aspects of God's character that He wants to manifest in you. Focus on demonstrating love (and all the other fruits of the Spirit) in your relationships with others by spending time in prayer, witnessing God's goodness to those around you. These actions are always acceptable and will block the delay effect.
2. Immerse yourself in God’s Word daily (versus deception).
There is no substitute for having the Word of God in you. This is one of the most important ways to recognize the enemy's subtle lies. Bank tellers effectively learn to recognize counterfeit money by studying real money. And this way, when something fake comes in, they immediately see the difference. Spend time in God's Word and store it in your heart. Then it will be much easier for the Spirit to be able to arouse and warn you about the deception of the enemy.
3. Focus on the Lord and His commands (as a counterbalance to distraction) .
What is the last thing the Lord told you to do? You do it? When we wait for a specific promise to be fulfilled, the more time passes, the easier it is to become disappointed. A helpful antidote is to focus on the Lord Himself and then actually DO what He has already told you to do. I am reminded of Jehoshaphat's petition to the Lord when the enemy was coming against him in Par. 20:12 “Our God! You judge them. For we have no strength against this great multitude that has come against us, and we do not know what to do, but our eyes are directed to You!”
4. Thank God for all the victories He has already achieved in your life (as a counterbalance to disappointment) .
There is nothing like thanksgiving to break the spirit of depression (what disappointment can lead to if left unchecked). God loves a grateful heart, and it enlightens the spirit. Don't wallow in something that hasn't even happened yet - list all the ways the Lord has already walked in the past! You will find that your heart will be strengthened and your soul will be strengthened as each story is remembered. God loves a grateful heart!
Do you feel like the devil is already on the run as these truths take root in your heart? Don't take these antidotes as just a passing thought. Deepen and root them in your daily life. Take action and suddenly you will see the backs of enemies running away from you.
From conversations of Archimandrite Boris KholchevThe essence of the leader of the dark forces - Satan or the devil - and his influence on humanity in general and on each person individually are illuminated to the required extent in the conversations of Archimandrite Boris Kholchev “On the Lord’s Prayer.” Below are abbreviated excerpts on this topic.
“The devil or the “evil one” is repeatedly spoken of in many places of Holy Scripture, starting with the first book of the Bible - the book of Genesis, and ending with the last book - the Apocalypse.
It speaks of the devil as the greatest opponent of our salvation, as the one who creates the greatest obstacles on man’s path to God.
In the 1st. conciliar message of St. Peter, addressing Christians, says: “Be sober and watchful, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
A wonderful place in the epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians: “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph. 6:12).
Holy Scripture reveals to us that the devil was not the devil in the beginning. Having been created by God as one of the great angels close to God, he was endowed with great grace-filled gifts.
But at the beginning of world history a terrible catastrophe occurred - this luminous angel fell, and the cause of this fall was pride. He admired his virtues and the gifts that God had endowed him with, and he had a crazy thought that he himself was the cause of these gifts.
He had the idea that he did not need God. This crazy thought destroyed him; he wanted to be equal to God. When he became proud, he turned from a luminous angel into a devil. His entire inner being changed: instead of love for God, blasphemy arose in him; Instead of the joy of Communion with God, he had a desire to move away from God and exist separately from God.
He infected other angels with this madness and some of the light angels became dark forces. This first crime was followed by a second crime.
Among God's creations was man. Man was a beautiful creation of God. He was like an angel in his soul, he was close to God and was also endowed with diverse gifts.
The devil, out of his enmity towards God, decided to infect man with sin in order to desecrate God’s creation and remove him from God. This was the devil's second greatest crime.
Of course, man's guilt was in some ways less than the devil's. The devil himself withdrew from God, and man withdrew from God by deception, carried away by the devil.
When humanity moved away from God, the devil and dark forces acquired great influence on the life of each person and on the life of humanity as a whole.
One great saint, St. Anthony the Great had an amazing vision, full of deep meaning. He saw the devil's snares that engulfed all of humanity. They seemed insurmountable to him.
What kind of devilish networks are these?
When a person became infected with sin, the person’s soul seemed to open up to the influence of the devil, and the devil gained access to sow all kinds of evil into the person’s soul, and first of all, he got the opportunity to sow pride, sinful passionate thoughts and aspirations into the person’s soul.
The devil affects not only the human soul, but also the human body.
In the Gospel narrative there are stories about those possessed by demons, the so-called “possessed.” These are people whose enemy has influence and power not only over their souls, but also over their bodies.
If a person is subordinate to the devil, if he fulfills his will in everything, if he commits sin and lawlessness, then when we meet such a person, he can infect us with his inner sinful content. This person can be like an instrument of the devil through which he traps us in his net.
This is how diverse, how terrible these devilish networks are, which seem to be spread over the whole world.
At. Anthony the Great, when he saw these nets, was horrified and exclaimed: “Who and how can escape these nets?” - And he heard the answer: “Only humility can escape the snares of the devil.”
In this answer, which was heard by Rev. Anthony the Great, is the revelation of the great secret of spiritual life. The devil became a devil from an angel through pride, therefore the most powerful weapon against him is humility.
If a person carries out the greatest work, the greatest fasting, the greatest feat of prayer, if a person is full of selflessness towards other people, but if there is no humility, he cannot defeat the devil, he will probably be a victim of the devil and will be defeated.
When we say the petition: “But deliver us from the evil one,” we pray to God, the Heavenly Father, to deliver us from these devilish snares, so that we do not get entangled in these snares and become victims of the devil. Therefore, let each of us try to overcome pride in our souls, carefully notice and study our sins and shortcomings, and stop disdaining and despising other people.”
And here is more information about the characteristics of the dark forces - Archbishop John Shakhovsky: “Evil spirits cruelly deal with their allies. Being vengeful and not being able to take revenge on their enemies - God's people, they always take revenge on their friends... This discovery of evil in the world is allowed so that a person is repulsed from it. Those who do not believe in God do not believe in the most complete deceit, in the suicidality of evil.”
So who is the winner?
The enemy is always trying to thwart God's plans. Even with only partial knowledge, he knows when someone is destined for greatness. Likewise, the enemy hits hard when a special miracle comes from the hand of God. When you make the effort to stand up, the degree and intensity of the spiritual struggle may be proportional to the territory you are about to conquer.
Put on the spiritual armor of God day by day by faith:
“Therefore put on the whole armor of God, so that you will be able to withstand and not give up in the evil day (danger), and having done everything (which the crisis requires), to stand (firm in the place)” (Eph. 6:13 Amplified).
So, be on the lookout! You are winners, the devil is not! What you are going through is only temporary. And know that you and I are not fighting for victory - we are secured by a victory that has already been won. We are already winners in Christ Jesus!
And this applies to you too!
Take a position!

Live in His Presence
Spending time in God's presence is another way to resist the devil. The truth is that we spend our time and money on what really matters to us. And when God is our main priority, we live in such a way that He occupies the main place in life; we plan our lives around our time with Him rather than trying to squeeze Him into our busy schedule.
When we live with Jesus, people know that there is something unusual about us. We are full of peace, and our actions show that we are Christians. Did you know that when you pray and study the Bible, you are participating in spiritual warfare?
Psalm 30:21 says, “You hide them under Your cover from evildoers, and in Your habitation from tongues cloven by evil.” I love this scripture. It shows that I am protected when I spend time in God's presence. I know that He is an omnipresent reality, and I have victory when His presence surrounds me.
