Collection - Akathist to the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow

Matrona of Moscow is one of the quick-helping saints. Why and in what cases should the akathist be read? There are documented cases where an akathist to Matrona helps to heal or solve a complex problem. The holy old woman is especially merciful to those who want to start a family, get pregnant and give birth to a healthy child, and instruct the child in mind. It is also known that during her lifetime she healed a man with paralyzed legs who crawled to her village, as well as a paralytic – the brother of a pure and pious woman. The mother of the sick man believed in the Lord when, before her eyes, in a matter of minutes, the holy righteous woman healed her son of madness, expelling the demon from his brain. There are numerous cases of vision being restored to sick children.

What is Akathist?

An akathist is a song of praise or a solemn hymn that is written in honor of Christ, the Mother of God or a saint. It is read when addressing a specific saint, so that he can help in resolving some matters or simply for consolation.

Most often they pray:

  • about health;
  • about a successful marriage;
  • to get pregnant;
  • for children;
  • to preserve the family;
  • for the return of the husband;
  • for healing from serious illnesses;
  • to preserve or restore reason.

Appealing to Matronushka is also effective for many other everyday problems.

The Akathist can be read in Russian or Church Slavonic. You can pray for health for a person of any religion, even a pagan - Matronushka of Moscow has mercy on all people. There are often cases when non-Orthodox people - a healed man or a pregnant woman - behold a true miracle and accept Christianity.

How to read the akathist correctly at home?

Most often like a magpie, that is, forty times within 40 days. During this period, one should give alms, visit temple, confess and take communion.

The 13 kontakia and 12 ikos included in the sorokoust are:

  1. you can't read while sitting
  2. should be pronounced meaningfully, delving into what is written,
  3. Before reading, candles or a lamp are lit in front of the icon of this saint.

When to read, at what time - each believer determines for himself. But on the day of remembrance of the righteous woman, May 2, this is done without fail.

The reviews from those who read the akathist to Matrona 40 days are impressive: a relative stopped drinking, the pain stopped for the sick, a couple with many years of infertility conceived a child, peace reigned in the family, a son who disappeared six months ago was found, the old man’s back straightened and dark hair began to grow, a lung appeared in the house the smell of myrrh... Each one is rewarded according to his faith.

Not every home has a collection of akathists (a Moscow akathist is needed!). But modern media allow you to either go to the official website with the text, or download it in any format convenient for the believer (pdf, fb2, mp3, epub), moreover, there is also a pdf format with accents.

With a repentant soul, with a true desire to find help, any option is suitable. The text can be read online, but it is better to print out the appeal to the righteous Matronushka and read it first for yourself, delving into every word, achieving clear pronunciation. The version in Russian with accents is ideal, allowing you not to distort a single letter of the akathist being read.

After the akathist, a prayer is read: Prayer to the Blessed Matrona of Moscow

To achieve greater success, the church fathers recommend prayer to Saint Matrona by agreement. If it is not possible to gather for conciliar prayer, believers write or call each other and begin reading at the same time - this is an agreement. It should be read in a chant, slowly, so that every word reaches the throne of the Lord and the saints sitting at His foot. General, consonant reading by true believers will help not only themselves and their loved ones, it will make the spiritual atmosphere of the places where worshipers live more pure.

Saint Akathist

It was written in 1999, when Matrona was canonized locally. On April 20, 2000, the text was approved by the Holy Synod.

Akathist to Saint Matrona of Moscow in pdf format;

The word “akathist” is translated as “non-seated singing,” so it must be read while standing in front of the icon. You can read at home, but always with a reverent feeling. The akathist was created for praise and glorification of the saint. You should read it when you feel especially grateful for a good deed or need the help of this saint.

The Akathist, as usual, consists of 13 kontakia and 12 ikos. Kontakia alternate with ikos. The kontakia ends with the singing of “Alleluia” three times, and the ikos end with the words: “Rejoice.” The word “alleluia” is translated as “the Lord is coming, give thanks,” and “rejoice” means greeting. This is how people greeted each other in ancient times.

The thirteenth kontakion is read three times. Then the first ikos is read, and then the first kontakion. After the akathist, a prayer is read. Previously, the entire akathist was sung, but now only “Alleluia” and “Rejoice” are sung at the end of the ikos.

Also be sure to read: “Kontakion and Troparion to the Holy Matrona of Moscow.”

The Akathist to Saint Matrona is imbued with love for the saint and awareness of her feat, gratitude. Usually, akathists trace the line of life and briefly tell the main facts of the saint’s biography. The Akathist to Saint Matrona also contains such moments.

The second kontakion tells of the miracle that occurred during the saint’s baptism:

Seeing the people and the priest, when you baptized you, blessed one, the wonderful pillar of cloud over your head and smelled the great fragrance, I marveled that this young lady would be, I sing again to God: Alleluia.

The second ikos mentions that she had a cross-shaped indentation on her chest:

Rejoice, you who had the cross sealed on your chest.

The fourth ikos tells about her feat of helping people and healing the sick:

Having heard people, Mother Matrono, that you give help in ills of soul and body, they come to you with hope and, the advice is favorable and they receive healing, thanks to God, singing to you.

The sixth kontakion describes the meeting of the saint with St. John of Kronstadt:

Herald of the holiness and righteousness of your life, blessed mother, the holy and righteous father John of Kronstadt appeared, when he saw you in the temple and named you his successor, that And wash away the pillar of Russia. All the same, having heard this, they glorified the Lord, singing a song to Him: Alleluia.

The eighth ikos describes the cross of persecution, reproach, and insults from people that the saint endured. After all, they not only revered her, but also tried to offend her in every possible way. She never took offense at people, she was always kind and unforgiving, praying for her offenders according to the commandment of Christ:

You, blessed mother, endured all kinds of annoyances and insults, expulsions and reproaches, not complaining about it, but thanking God for everything. By this you teach us to patiently bear our cross, and give you the same praise.

The ninth kontakion tells of the saint’s tireless struggle against dark forces, of prayerful work and helping people:

You have also endured all kinds of sorrows and illnesses, Mother Matrono, constantly waging war with the forces of darkness, exposing their intrigues and deceits and driving out demons from the possessed, both Until the end of your days, you helped the suffering, the sick and the mourning, singing to God always: Alleluia.

The tenth ikos says that the saint, even after her death, does not cease to help those who turn to her in prayer:

You were a wall and a covering in the days of your life, blessed mother, to all who came running to you, and after death you did not cease to intercede before God for the people who flow with faith to your tomb. Moreover, today hear us, sinners, overcome by sorrows, illnesses and many sorrows, and strive to help with your prayers all those who cry out to you.

In the twelfth ikos, Matrona is called the pillar of piety, because she truly preserved the faith in difficult times of persecution and taught people this:

Singing a lot and your wild miracles, Matin, we praise the god, granted the grade of Moscow and the paternalism in the days of beelessness and chasonia, the unwavering hundreds of confidence and beliefs and beliefs. Now, blessed mother, with a grateful heart we sing to you.

In the final kontakion, the saint is asked for forgiveness of sins, the Christian end of life and a good answer at the Last Judgment:

Ask us from the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins, a Christian peaceful death and a good answer at His Last Judgment.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the prayer: “Canon to the Matrona of Moscow.”

How to order a prayer service with an akathist in a church

As mentioned above, it is conciliar prayer that is especially powerful. And sometimes in life such troubles, troubles and illnesses happen that it is simply impossible to cope alone.

To read the akathist conciliarly, in church, you must come in advance, before the Liturgy. You can find out what time it starts either in the temple itself or on its website. And order a prayer service with an akathist behind a candle box. In this case, after the Liturgy, the prayer service you ordered will be served.

In the Church of the Intercession, prayers are served daily after the liturgy at the relics of Blessed Matrona.

But there is one “but”. You shouldn’t count on the priest to do all the work for you, and all you have to do is get what you ask for. Without your active participation, most likely, nothing will work out.

If there is such an opportunity, you can visit the Intercession Convent in Moscow, where the relics of the holy blessed old woman are located.

A worthy replacement for St. John of Kronstadt

An amazing saint of the last century was born in 1881 in the village of Sebino, Tula province . Her mother had a revelation that her daughter would be a difficult person. The girl was born without eyes, but from childhood she showed wonderful prophetic abilities. She predicted the future, prayed a lot, and healed people.

The Lord deprived her of physical vision, but gave her internal, spiritual vision. People learned about the wonderful girl and traveled to her from afar. After her brothers became communists, Matrona had to leave her native village. She moved to the capital and lived there until the end of her life. For this she was nicknamed “Moscow”.

The saint is considered the patroness of Moscow. Crowds of people came to her, and Matrona helped everyone, although she herself was very sick. She died in 1952.

Saint's Memorial Days:

  • March 7 in non-leap years;
  • March 8 in leap years;
  • May 2 (discovery of relics).

The saint was canonized in 2004, but local canonization took place in 1999.

Preacher of the holiness and righteousness of your life, blessed one, Holy Father John of Kronstadt appeared, commanding the believers in the church to part and let the young girl Matrona pass to him, calling her his successor and the eighth pillar of Russia. And those who heard about this glorified the Lord, shouting to Him the heavenly song: Alleluia.

Ikos 6

In the hearts of those who do not know God and the many sins of those who anger Him, the light of God’s grace shines through your prayers, and, seeing the miracles you perform, I turn to the Lord, pleasing the blessed old woman with these praises: Rejoice, glorifying God with your miracles; Rejoice, thou who revealest to us the greatness of God and His glory in them. Although the merciful Lord sends His saints into the sinful world to save His creation in these last times, when all the power of the enemy, for departing from God and unrepentance for numerous sins, rises up against God’s creation, such an ascetic and prayer book appeared to the blessed Elder Matrona. Let us glorify God’s mercy towards us sinners, singing to Him with gratitude: Alleluia.

Ikos 7

The Lord has given the Russian people a new and wondrous intercessor, a prayer book, a healer and an intercessor for them to God for those who have departed from this world, the elders of Optina Hermitage, Saints Leo, Macarius and Ambrose, and the holy righteous John of Kronstadt, urging everyone to sing to His saint, the blessed Elder Matrona. sice: Rejoice, intercessor of our salvation to God; Rejoice, for the forgiveness of our sins by the Righteous Judge, propitiator. It is a strange miracle for the unbeliever and the unreasonable, how a blind woman can see and know not exactly the present, but also the future, not knowing the power of God, which is accomplished in the weakness of mankind, nor singing to God: Alleluia.

Ikos 8

All the saints who were in God, even if they were in body and in this sinful world, were always surrounded by many faithful and unfaithful, pious and wicked, I would reject anyone from myself without participation and consolation, suffering from many annoyances and insults, persecution, sorrow and reproaches, not lamenting about this, but thanking God for everything, forcing us to patiently bear our cross. We offer her the following praise: Rejoice, you who endured many sorrows and illnesses for the healing of the sick; Rejoice, you who spent your entire life fighting against unclean spirits. Rejoice, you who lost your walk from evil people for this walk; Rejoice, you who constantly remained in fervent prayer. Rejoice, bowed on your fist, and thus resting your gray hairs; Rejoice, vigilant in spirit, who spent all the night in prayer. Rejoice, blessed Elder Matrono, wonderful wonderworker.

Kontakion 9

You have endured all sorts of sorrows and illnesses, Mother Matrono, constantly fighting the forces of darkness, driving them out from those possessed by unclean spirits, exposing their intrigues and deceits, and you have never grumbled, until your death you help the suffering, the sick and the grieving, singing to the Lord God, who strengthens you by His power: Alleluia.

Ikos 9

The branches of multi-proclamation will not be able to adequately comprehend the gifts of grace of the Holy Spirit given to you by God from above and describe and glorify all the holiness of your life and the miracles performed by you by the power of God. Moreover, how can we, blind with spiritual eyes, comprehend the fate of God that is being committed on you, and with our sinful lips sing and glorify you, blessed mother? But wanting, according to the word of the psalmist, to praise God in His saints, driven by heartfelt love for you, we dare to this praise and call you: Rejoice, poor in spirit, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven; Rejoice, thou who walked the narrow and thorny path. Rejoice, like a bird of heaven, flying from place to place; Rejoice, even if the birds of heaven have nests, but you have not acquired temples lower than treasures for yourself on earth. Rejoice, for you have become like the Son of God, who had nowhere to bow your head, on earth; Rejoice, for you have now dwelt in Heaven with Him in the heavenly abodes. Rejoice, blessed Elder Matrono, wonderful wonderworker.

Kontakion 10

Wanting to save many people from the suffering of bodily and mental ailments, you spent all the night, O righteous woman of God, on your knees in prayer, asking for help and strength from our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His earthly journey knelt in prayer before the Heavenly Father, singing with the Angels to Him: Alleluia.

Ikos 10

You were a wall and a covering during your life, blessed mother, to all who came running to you in need and sorrow, but even after death you did not cease to intercede before God for the people who come to you with faith. Hear, O good mother, now us, many sinners, overcome by sorrows, illnesses and many sorrows, and strive to help us with your holy prayers, propitiating the gracious Lord for all who cry to you: Rejoice, warm prayer book for us to God; Rejoice, zealous for us sinners, intercessor to God. Rejoice, you who gratefully admonish us to endure illness and sorrow; Rejoice, you who put good thoughts in our hearts in our perplexity. Rejoice, through your prayer you help us to be saved; Rejoice, you who are far away in body from you, but who do not abandon those who earnestly call upon you from the heart. Rejoice, blessed Elder Matrono, wonderful wonderworker.

Kontakion 11

Hear the unearthly, angelic singing now, O honorable mother Matrono, who, while still living on earth, was vouchsafed, invisibly to those around her, to converse with the heavenly angels. Teach us, unworthy ones, how to glorify God, who is revered in the Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, to whom the heavenly hosts continually sing with a loud voice: Alleluia.

Ikos 11

Your life shines with a luminous light, blessed old lady Matrono, illuminating the darkness of this busy world, and attracts our souls to itself, so that they too may be illuminated by even a small ray of God’s grace, and be able to walk the sorrowful and cramped path of life in a God-pleasing manner, and reach the gates of the Kingdom of God, where You, mother, now, we believe, you have moved in. Hear the voice of those calling you: Rejoice, lamp of God, enlighten us even after death; Rejoice, honorable bead, illuminating us with the brilliance of your shrine. Rejoice, strengthening us in Orthodoxy with the light of your good deeds; Rejoice, fragrant flower, scent our souls with the Holy Spirit. Rejoice, for all your life is holy and righteous; Rejoice, for your death is honorable before God. Rejoice, blessed Elder Matrono, wonderful wonderworker.

Kontakion 12

You have received the grace of God abundantly from the shrouds, O blessed mother, and this will remain with you all your days: you healed ailments, you cast out demons, you, invisible and far away, foretell and instruct the salvation of all. We undoubtedly believe that after death this grace most of all remains with you, for this reason we pray prostrately: do not deprive us, who are still wandering on earth, of your help and intercession, asking the Lord to have mercy and save all who diligently offer up solemn singing to Him in our holy churches: Alleluia.

Ikos 12

Singing your miracles, Mother Matrono, we praise God, who has given you such grace, and with the prophet David we cry out in psalm, for praise is due to the righteous: Rejoice, for the Lord loves the righteous; Rejoice, for the Lord makes the blind wise. Rejoice, for the Lord protects all who love Him; Rejoice, for the Lord takes pleasure in His people. Rejoice, for the Lord will do the will of those who fear Him and will hear their prayer and save them; Rejoice, for the saints will be praised in glory and will rejoice on their beds. Rejoice, blessed Elder Matrono, wonderful wonderworker.

Kontakion 13

O blessed mother, hear now the singing of praise and prayer sung to you, who promised even after death to hear those crying to you, and ask our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of our sins, the Christian end of our life and a good answer at His Last Judgment, and we too With all those who have been pardoned by God, let us be honored in the villages of paradise to glorify the Holy Trinity with red singing: Alleluia.
