That is, the townspeople thereby wanted to show God how much they ask for his forgiveness. In the modern world, in some peoples of the Caucasus, the tradition of fasting after the death of a person has remained, thereby people want to “cleanse” his soul from sins. That is, magpie is not only prayer, but also spiritual deeds that can testify to true faith.”

Lay people sometimes confuse these concepts. Is it possible to order Sorokoust to an unbaptized person if it seems necessary? More likely no than yes. This simply does not make sense, since those who have not accepted the Cross are deprived of faith that what is required will help; he does not seek to communicate with God. But there is a way out of this situation: if it is obvious that a person really needs help, you can take a church candle and pray to God at home, so that He will enlighten you and guide you on the right path. Such prayers and conversations with the unbaptized often lead to the adoption of Orthodoxy.

If we talk about non-believers, then a situation is possible when a person was baptized earlier, but for some reason he moved away from the beliefs and principles of life of an Orthodox Christian.
