Biography of the saint

The life of Matryona Anemnyasevskaya was described by the clergyman Nikolai Pravdolyubov and his brother Vladimir. This woman has a difficult fate. She was considered a saint during her lifetime. The authors of the book about the fate of Matryona were arrested and sent to Stalin's camps in the 30s. Many years later, after the collapse of the USSR, the manuscript was discovered by Archpriest Sergius Pravdolyubov.

Origin and childhood

The real name of the Saint is Matrona Grigorievna Belyakova. The Anemnyasevo healer was born into a poor peasant family in 1864. Matrona spent her childhood in the village of Anemnyasevo, which was part of the Kasimovsky district, in the Ryazan province. Her father Gregory drank heavily. Mother Evdokia looked after the household. The Belyakov family had eight children - 6 daughters and 2 sons. Three girls died in early childhood.

Until the age of seven, Matrona was a healthy child. She helped her parents, played with the children in the yard, and loved to catch butterflies. At the age of seven, the girl suffered from smallpox and became blind. The blind child was trusted only to babysit the babies. True, the girl failed to cope with this responsibility. At the age of ten, she dropped her little sister to the ground. For this, the mother severely punished Matrona, beating her half to death.

During the beating, the Most Holy Theotokos appeared to the defenseless blind girl and began to console her. The Virgin Mary dreamed of Matrona three times. For the last time, she gave the girl a scroll. What was written in it is not known. The Anemnyasevo healer did not tell anyone about this.

The next morning, the beaten girl could not get out of bed. At the age of ten she became disabled and bedridden. From that moment, Matryona began an even more tragic life - the life of a martyr, who was offended by close people, but who turned to strangers for help and glorified her.

Healing Gift

The little blind and non-ambulatory girl clung to life as best she could. Her relatives scolded her and accused her of being a parasite. Matrona did not lose heart, courageously endured all reproaches, prayed to God and simply lived. So she, useless to anyone, rejected by her family, lay there until she was 17 years old. Fellow villagers were surprised how the girl survived in such conditions. We decided that this could not have happened without God’s presence.

One day a peasant came to Matrona who was suffering from back pain. The girl passed her hand, the illness disappeared. The peasant told his fellow villagers about the miraculous healing. Then a neighbor came to the blind girl asking her to pray to the Lord and ask him not to give them any more children. The peasant had 12 mouths to feed, it was not easy to feed them. Matrona fulfilled this request as well.

Since then, and for fifty years, people from different parts of Russia have been going to the blind man. Matrona prayed for their healing. Every day she received several dozen people. Visitors brought her donations (money, food, fabrics). Thus, from a burden, the blind girl turned into a source of income for the family. However, this fact did not save Matrona from a tragic fate.

Martyrdom

A blind girl, bedridden since the age of ten, suffered from those closest to her in early childhood. The father was a drunkard, which is why the girl and the whole family often went hungry. Because of her mother, the blind Matrona also became bedridden and disabled. Until the age of 17, the girl did not hear a kind word from her relatives, only curses and reproaches. Matrona prayed to God and managed to survive in such difficult conditions. Even after the death of his parents, it was not easy for the blind man. The girl suffered a lot from both her sister and brother. Relatives treated Matrona as a source of enrichment. The blind healer's admirers built her a house at their own expense, but the sister managed to sue it in her favor.

Then Matrona went to live with her nephew Matvey, the son of her sister. There the attitude towards her was better. The whole summer and autumn the healer lay in the hallway. For the winter it was moved indoors. One day in October, after rain, the roof leaked, and the blind healer lay in a wet bed all night. In the morning frost hit, and Matrona’s clothes froze. Only in the afternoon did the relatives bring the Anemnyasevskaya healer into the house.

Matrona was a helpless woman and could not take care of herself. The relatives worked hard; they simply had no time to care for the blind woman. Matrona lay in bed, received people asking for help and prayed. The healer knew by heart many prayers, entire akathists and church chants. The blind woman simply remembered everything she heard from visitors.

A priest from a local church visited the healer every month. The confessor confessed and gave communion to the blind woman. Matryona never complained about her fate. My only regret was that due to my disability I did not become a nun. Matrona venerated Blessed Maria Diveevskaya. Some kind of invisible connection was established between these women, who were considered saints during their lifetime, which helped them communicate at a distance.

Death and canonization

After the revolution of 1917, Orthodoxy experienced difficult times. Clergy and ordinary believers were persecuted. People were even arrested, shot, and sent to camps for believing in God. In the 30s, the doctor Sergei Nikitin, simply a believer, somehow did not please the Soviet authorities, for which he was exiled to a camp. In places of detention, the man was in charge of the first-aid post and often released prisoners from work. For this they wrote a denunciation against him.

Nikitin could have been given another 15 years in prison. The doctor was advised to pray to Matrona and mentally ask her for help. Sergei Nikitin did just that. The doctor was released after three years, then went to the Ryazan region and found Matrona, who helped him escape.

In 1933, priest Nikolai Pravdolyubov visited the blind healer and asked about her life. Matrona was reluctant to talk about herself; she liked to talk more about spiritual topics. The priest still managed to obtain information about the life of the healer. He even prepared a book with her biography for publication. Of course, the security officers did not like this fact.

In 1935, in the village of Belkovo, a criminal case was opened against Pravdolyubov, Belyakova and ten other people. Matrona was accused of the fact that she, believing in God, influenced the minds of her fellow villagers and this, according to the security officers, delayed the progress of collectivization. All people on the list were immediately arrested. Only the security officers were afraid to touch Matrona, who was bedridden.

Soon a car arrived for the healer. The chairman of the village council himself decided to transfer Matrona to the car. He lifted the woman from the plank bed, the healer was lying on the boards covered with a sheet, and was surprised at how light she was. For this, Matrona cursed the children of the chairman. All of them stopped growing after the healer’s arrest.

The blind woman was taken to Kasimov prison, then transported to Ryazan, and from there sent to Moscow itself. In the capital, Anemnyasevskaya healer lived for a year in Butyrka prison. In places of detention, the blind woman was revered as a saint. Matryona even healed the terminally ill mother of her investigator. For this, the healer was not killed, but was sent to a Home for the Disabled.

Matrona died on July 16, 1936 from heart failure. This happened in the House for Chronic Patients in Moscow. The healer Anemnyasevskaya was buried at the Vladykinsky cemetery. She lived to be 71 years old. In the 70s, due to the construction of a road in Vladykino, the woman’s ashes were transferred to the Central Cemetery in Dolgoprudny.

In 1999, the healer Anemnyasevskaya was recognized as a locally revered saint of the Ryazan diocese. In 2000 St. At the Jubilee Council of Bishops, Matrona was canonized as a new martyr and glorified for church-wide veneration. The glorification of the saint takes place on July 29. A chapel was built at the burial site of the blessed one in Vladykino.

The Life of Matrona was compiled by priest Nikolai Pravdolyubov during her lifetime

The Life of Matrona was compiled by priest Nikolai Pravdolyubov during her lifetime. For this, its authors were arrested and sentenced for many years. It was discovered by Sergei Pravdolyubov, who had the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsky-Golenischev.

Matryona Grigorievna Belyakova was born on November 6, 1864 in the Ryazan province. Her parents were the poorest people in the village. They somehow lived and ran a household. In appearance they were very frail and weak people. My father drank a lot. The family had 6 daughters and 2 sons. But three girls died in childhood. Matrona was fourth.

Until about 7 years old, she was a simple girl. But her parents didn't like her very much. Her duty was to babysit her brothers and sisters. The blind girl had a very hard time coping with this. One day she accidentally dropped her sister, for which her mother beat her severely. At that moment, the Mother of God herself appeared to the girl’s spiritual gaze.

The girl told her mother about this, but she did not believe her. This happened many times. One day Matryona received a note from the Most Holy Theotokos, but no one knows what was written in it. The next day the girl could not get up, which is how she lost the ability to walk. For the rest of her life she never got up again.

Until the age of seventeen, the girl stayed in her parents’ house. She endured everything. Only in prayer did she find consolation. From that time on, people began to come to her. Many began to receive healing from her. Soon people began to come to her not only from the village, but also from nearby cities. She helped everyone.

Iconography

The Orthodox Church glorifies Matrona Anemnyasevskaya as a saint. An icon was painted in her honor. The woman is depicted lying on a bed and praying to the Most Holy Theotokos. The blessed saint often helps people who pray in front of her image. The miraculous icon of Matrona Anemnyasevskaya is located in the Moscow Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsky-Golenishchevo.

After the death of her parents, Matrona was taken in by her nephew Matvey Sergeevich

After the death of her parents, her sisters and brothers looked to her as a source of income, as people who came to her left donations for her. Soon, with the help of Matvey Sergeevich, Matrona’s nephew, she moved to live with him. He was a very kind and religious man. But Matrona Belyakova had difficulties here too. My nephew's children grew up and they began to be teased. Matrona was tormented that people were suffering because of her.

She was lying in a separate room, which was curtained. In the summer she was moved to the entryway. She herself never asked to be carried back. One day she remembers how it was raining and she got very wet:

“...By morning there was a frost, I was terribly cold, and my clothes were all frozen. In the morning, my sister saw this, took pity and took me to the hut, for which I am grateful to her.”

She survived only with the help of constant fasting and prayer. Every month Matrona of Ryazan took communion. To do this, they called a confessor from a nearby church.

Texts of prayers and troparia

Believers have compiled special prayers, the words of which are preferably addressed to the Holy One. They pray to the blessed one to help strengthen faith in God and ask the Almighty to forgive sinners. There is a special prayer in which believers ask the saint to grant them the miracle of the birth of a child.

The troparion says that the blessed Matrona, like a lightning of heavenly fire, shone in the Ryazan side. Believers ask for the saint's intercession before Christ in illnesses and troubles, and also to grant people the mercy of God.

Prayer 1

Oh, glorious and blessed mother Matrono, your life has been filled with sorrow, but looking at your humility, we pray to you, the saint of God, beg the all-merciful God to bestow upon us, the unworthy, His mercy, and, moreover, to confirm and strengthen us in bearing our cross, so that we may reject ourselves and let us follow the path of salvation following Christ, having humbled ourselves under the strong hand of God, accepting everything from His hand: we know that the Lord alone can raise up the fallen, and bring back the lost, and correct those who have been tempted, and make sinners righteous. Protect us, Mother Matrono, with your prayers from the snare of the evil one, so that we will not be seduced by him and return back. We also pray to you, as you who have great boldness towards the Lord, pour out a warm prayer for us, sick and sad, and ask the Lord for something beneficial for everyone, so that the Lord will give us, like you, patience and complacency in troubles and sorrowful circumstances, so that we may live according to our will We have known Him all the days of our life, as the message of our Heavenly Father, which we demand before our petition. Oh, blessed Mother Matrono, honored by the many-named host of Russian new martyrs, pray with them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, may he preserve the Orthodox Church from temptations, heresies and schisms, may the Lord protect our country from all slander of visible and invisible enemies and take it out of the abyss atheism: we know that we live now only for the sake of the blood of the martyrs, but the Lord grants us to fear nothing, but to be faithful to Him even to death, and as a martyr-lover like the martyrs, we will rejoice in the Kingdom of Heaven. Hey, Mother Matrono, ask us from the Lover of Mankind for a time of repentance, so that we may not pluck out the tares before the harvest, may we not perish in evil, but may he cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, so that we may appear to us on the day of judgment undefiled and blameless before with His face, and with a pure heart, as a true child of God, let us joyfully cry out to Him: do not reject us, Lord, and accept us into Your Kingdom, where You reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2, for the gift of children

O blessed mother Matrono, we resort to your intercession and tearfully pray to you, as if you have great boldness towards the Lord, shed a warm prayer for your servants who are in spiritual sorrow and asking for help from you. Truly is the word of the Lord: ask, and it will be given to you, and again: for if two of you take counsel on earth concerning every thing that you ask, it will be given to you by My Father who is in Heaven. Hear our sighs and bring them to the Throne, Master, where you stand, we know that the prayer of a righteous man can do much before God. May the Lord not completely forget us, but look down from the heights of Heaven on the sorrow of His servants and bestow the fruit of the womb for something useful. Truly, God, wherever the order of nature wants to be conquered, He does as He wills: as the Lord did to Abraham and Sarah, Zechariah and Elizabeth, Joachim and Anna, pray with them, so may the Lord God do to us according to His mercy and ineffable love for mankind. May the Name of the Lord be blessed from now to eternity. Amen.

Troparion, tone 8

Like the lightning of heavenly fire that has risen in the Ryazan country, the blessed eldress Saint Matrona, who is creating memory today, let us sing to Christ God, begging Him to grant us patience through intercession in illnesses, troubles and sorrows, and great mercy to our souls.

Kontakion, voice of the same

In weakness you found strength, in blindness you found incorruptible eyes, you were on your sick bed, you flew everywhere like a bird in spirit, you were the mother of the grieving and betrothed in your infancy in body. Also, do not leave those who honor your memory in prayers, and help us get rid of sins through repentance, and gain the Kingdom of Heaven with you.

Blessed Confessor Matrona (Belyakova), Anemnyasevskaya (1936)

Memorial Day: July 29

Troparion to the blessed Matrona of Anemnyasevo, Kasimovskaya voice 8 Like the lightning of heavenly fire rising in the Ryazan country, the blessed old woman holy Matrona, who creates memory today, let us sing to Christ God, beseeching Him yes Give us patience through our intercession in illnesses, troubles and sorrows, and great mercy for our souls.

Kontakion to the Blessed Matrona Anemnyasevskaya, Kasimovskaya voice 8 In weakness you found strength, in blindness you found imperishable eyes, being on the bed of illness, you flew everywhere like a bird in spirit, infancy in body, you were You are the mother of those who grieve and are overwhelmed. Moreover, do not leave those who honor your memory in your prayers, and help us get rid of sins through repentance, and gain the Kingdom of Heaven with you.

Matrena Grigorievna Belyakova was born on November 6, 1864 in the village of Anemnyasevo, Kasimov district, Ryazan province. Her parents Gregory and Evdokia were perhaps the poorest people in the village and somehow managed their peasant farm. My father drank a lot and was known in the village as a drunkard. They had a large family - six daughters and two sons. Three sisters died in childhood, Matresha was the fourth.

For some reason, Matresha’s parents disliked her from early childhood, and she had to endure insults, abuse, and beatings more than any of her brothers and sisters.

At the age of seven, Matryosha fell ill with smallpox. Afterwards the girl recovered, but remained blind forever.

Her duty was to nurse her younger sisters and brothers. One day, ten-year-old Matryosha accidentally dropped her little sister from the porch onto the ground. Seeing this, the mother grabbed Matryosha and began to beat her severely. At that moment, the Queen of Heaven appeared to the girl’s spiritual gaze. Matryosha told her mother about this, but she continued to beat the girl even harder. The vision was repeated three times. During the last vision, the Most Holy Theotokos gave Matryosha a consoling note. Blessed Matrona never talked about what kind of note it was and what was written in it.

The next morning, the mutilated girl was unable to rise from the stove. Having forever lost the ability to walk and do anything, she never got out of bed for the rest of her life.

Fellow villagers knew about the girl’s suffering life, treated her with a sense of reverent respect and considered her pleasing to God, coming with their needs, sorrows and illnesses.

The first to come for help was a peasant from her own village, a sawyer by profession. “Matrosha,” he said, “the way you’ve been lying for several years, you’re probably pleasing to God.” My back hurts and I can’t saw. Touch your back, maybe it will go away for you. I was treated - the doctors are not helping. Matryosha fulfilled his request - the back pain really stopped, and he was able to work. This peasant told his neighbor about his healing, and he said: “I’ll go to her too: our children have tortured us, the twelfth will be born soon; I’ll ask her to pray that the Lord will stop having children with us. He came to Matryosha and asked to pray. Matryosha prayed, and they had no more children.

Since then, more and more people began to come to Matryosha with their needs, sorrows and illnesses. Over time, these visits took on the character of a real pilgrimage: not only residents of surrounding places, but also distant, sometimes even the most remote places of our Fatherland, came to the girl. Moreover, they came in a continuous stream for more than fifty years in the amount of several tens and sometimes hundreds every day.

Visitors from afar brought her various donations for her prayers, but her father usually took it all away for tobacco or vodka.

After the death of her parents, Matresha had to endure a lot of grief from her brother and sister, who looked at her solely as a means of income. The sister subsequently sued Matrona for a house built by admirers of the blessed one.

From her sister, Matresha moved to live with her nephew Matvey Sergeevich. Here Matryosha usually lay in a small separate room of a peasant hut, in a small crib, which was always covered with a curtain. In the summer, when it became stuffy in the hut, she was taken out into the hallway, and there she lay until winter. She herself never asked to be moved to the hut, and patiently endured the autumn cold.

In appearance, Matryosha was so small that she seemed like a ten-year-old child. Her dress, a gift from one of her admirers, which covered the blessed one completely with her legs, was only 90 centimeters in length.

Matryosha observed the fasts especially strictly. She hasn't eaten meat since she was 17. In addition to Wednesday and Friday, I observed the same fast on Mondays. During church fasts I ate almost nothing or ate very little. In addition to the feats of fasting and prayer, the blessed one, as already mentioned, voluntarily endured the cold, and also sorted and rearranged stones brought by her admirers from various holy places.

She spoke easily and freely and sang sacred chants in a surprisingly clear and sonorous child's voice, knew by heart a lot of prayers, many akathists and church chants. During conversations with her visitors, she often read aloud various prayers appropriate in content to the given occasion. Sometimes I read entire akathists, reading quickly, confidently, in a loud voice. She sang church hymns, completely correctly maintaining the peculiarities of voices and chants.

To the question of one of the surprised visitors, who asked how she, being blind, knew even entire akathists by heart, Matryosha replied that “a good person will come and read something, and I will remember with God’s help.”

In a conversation with one of her deep admirers, Matryosha said that “you need to pray incessantly”, that “incessant prayer can do everything.” At the same time, she said about herself that she herself tries to pray incessantly and prays with the rosary, which is always in her hand; that she also prays while talking to her visitors; that during these conversations he touches his rosary, but prays secretly, silently, unnoticed by visitors. Visitors do not see her rosary, which is always hidden from their eyes.

Through the prayers of Blessed Matrona, healings were made from many serious illnesses, when even doctors did not believe the recovery, since they had recently seen an unfavorable outcome. Those who resorted to the blessed one were healed both from drunkenness and from spiritual illness—possession. Anna, a young girl of 19 years old from a neighboring village, married against the will of her parents, religious and kind people. Soon after this, Anna lost her arm and leg. The girl lay motionless at home for six weeks, and the doctors could not help her. Mother took Anna on horseback to Matryosha. The blessed one anointed the girl with oil from her lamp, and Anna gradually began to recover and began to walk, but there was no complete recovery. Two years later, Matrona blessed Anna to go to Sarov and Diveevo. On the way to Sarov, mother and Anna spent the night at the home of a pious woman who had a shrine from Jerusalem at home. Then it was discovered that the girl was possessed by a demon - she was afraid of the shrine, screamed and started running. In Diveevo, after visiting blessed Maria Ivanovna and bathing in the spring of St. Seraphim, Anna was healed mentally. After this incident, Anna became a deeply religious person and greatly revered Matrona.

Matryosha especially loved nuns and girls in general. She placed nuns above the worldly, forgave them everything, and was with them like a child. “After all, I didn’t have to be there, in the monastery,” she more than once expressed regret in her conversations with them. “Nuns,” she said, “how many times will they fall?” They will fall, and yet again they will rise. But in the world, man has fallen, and he has no time to rise. Everything in the world is temptation, everything is somehow awkward. We are all incontinent, sometimes you cannot do without sin, sometimes you will cry...

Starting from Lent in 1933, Matresha changed noticeably. If earlier she behaved very simply with everyone, pitied everyone, delved into the grief of each person, talked for a long time and willingly, discussing all sorts of everyday matters, now the blessed one seemed to have completely ceased to be interested in earthly life. She began to speak rarely and reluctantly about everyday matters, only in exceptional cases. But she was ready to talk about spiritual life, especially about the future life, day and night. She very willingly and lovingly received people who came to her with spiritual questions.

In the summer of 1935, the “case of the priests Pravdolyubov and the sick degenerate Matryona Belyakova” was opened in Belkovo. It began with a denunciation by one resident of the city of Kasimov against the priest Nikolai Pravdolyubov in connection with a handwritten book - the biography of Blessed Matrona. The book was signed by him and his brother, priest Vladimir Pravdolyubov, and prepared for printing. Ten people were arrested. According to the list, Blessed Matrona should also have been arrested. All those arrested had already been sent to Ryazan and Moscow, but they were afraid to touch Matrona.

Finally, a collective farm meeting was held, at which it was decided to “remove” Matrona Grigorievna Belyakova as a “harmful element.” Twenty-four activists out of three hundred village residents signed up. The village council gave a description of “M. G. Belyakova,” in which she is directly and openly called a saint without any quotation marks or irony: “This citizen is a harmful element in the village, with her holiness she greatly influences the dark masses... In view of this, s/s (village council) is delaying the progress of collectivization.”

After the prisoners were sent to Ryazan, a car was sent for Blessed Matrona. We drove up to her house during the day without hiding. We entered. On duty, the chairman of the village council approached and, overcoming fear, lifted Matryonushka from her plank bed. Matrona screamed in a thin voice. The people were numb. The chairman began to make a decision. At the door he said: “Oh, how light!” Matrona said: “And your children will be so light.” All the children of the chairman stopped growing after the arrest of Blessed Matrona. He himself died very hard a few years later. It was summer. The house stood with the windows open due to the heat. He screamed so loudly in pain that half the village could hear. People said: “It’s not for you to raise Matreshenka!” But he called the priest and sincerely and fervently repented of his sins and died in peace with the Church.

Blessed Matrona lived in Moscow for almost a year. Presumably, she was imprisoned in Butyrka prison. But she did not stay there long, because she became an object of veneration by almost all, without exception, the prisoners, who began to sing akathists and pray. She had to go somewhere. They were afraid to kill, and the example of prison prayers of the prisoners did not allow them to be sent to a camp.

It is documented that Blessed Matrona died of heart failure on July 16 (29), 1936 in the House of Chronicles named after A. N. Radishchev in Moscow, not far from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vladykino. Since there was a large Vladykinsky cemetery nearby, partially preserved to this day, we can make the assumption that Blessed Matrona was buried in this cemetery.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and All Rus', the glorification of the holy blessed Matrona of Anemnyasevo was performed on April 9/22, 1999 by Archbishop Simon of Ryazan and Kasimov with a council of clergy of the Ryazan diocese. Blessed Matrona Anemnyasevskaya was first glorified as a locally revered saint of the Ryazan diocese, and at the Jubilee Council of Bishops in 2000 she was canonized as a new martyrs and confessor of Russia for church-wide veneration. The feat of her holiness combines both an example of extraordinary patience, fasting and prayer, and an image of confession.

The Holy Blessed Matrona of Anemnyasevo today, like 70 years ago, gives gracious help in response to prayers.

The rector of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Trinity-Golenishchevo, Archpriest Sergius Pravdolyubov, and many parishioners testify to modern miracles through the prayers of the newly glorified saint.

Servants of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsky-Golenishchevo, Anatoly and Ioanna did not have children, having been married for 8 years. The couple asked the blessed one for the gift of a child, and in response to the prayer, a daughter was born to them.

Galina, a parishioner of the Trinity Church, had severe pain in her legs. It was difficult for the elderly woman to attend church services, for which she greatly grieved. Galina fervently prayed to two blessed Matrons: Anemnyasevskaya and Moscow. In response to her prayer, the paper icons began to exude droplets of fragrant liquid. Many parishioners of the Trinity Church visited Galina’s apartment, venerated the myrrh-streaming icons of both saints, and were anointed with the myrrh flowing from them. Galina felt much better, her legs stopped hurting.

The rector of the Trinity Church, Archpriest Sergius, was driving a car along Berezhkovskaya embankment. Suddenly an emergency situation arose. According to Father Sergius, the only thing that saved him from falling into the Moscow River was that he instantly managed to call Blessed Matrona for help.

In the city of Kasimov, an elderly woman suffering from radiculitis was grieving because she was unable to get up and go to work. She fervently begged Blessed Matrona for help. Suddenly her whole body was engulfed in heat, and when it passed, the woman felt healthy, got up and went to the temple.

In front of the revered icon of the blessed Matrona, which is located in the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsky-Golenishchev, many candles are always burning, so it is difficult to find a free place on the candlestick. The candlestick in front of the icon is a gift from the family of parishioners, admirers of the blessed one. The icon is decorated with decorative butterflies as a sign of gratitude from people who received help from Matrona. Believers constantly order the blessed prayer service. On Sunday evenings, an akathist is read to Matrona Anemnyasevskaya. Many, having heard about the miracles of Blessed Matrona, come from afar.

On the site of Matrona’s house in Anemnyasevo, a chapel was built with the diligence of Archpriest Seraphim (Pravdolyubov) and local residents.

The biography of the ascetic was compiled during her lifetime by priest Nikolai Anatolyevich Pravdolyubov and his brother Vladimir Anatolyevich Pravdolyubov.

For this handwritten book, its authors were arrested and sentenced to many years in the camps. The author's manuscript was discovered these days in the FSB Archive by Archpriest Sergiy Pravdolyubov, rector of the Moscow Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Troitsky-Golenischev.

Akathist to the BLESSED MATRONA ANEMNYASEVSKAYA

Kontakion 1 Let us praise the chosen servant of Christ, who has shone forth in the lands of Ryazan, and the extraordinary prayer book for our souls with songs, blessed Matrona: for you have endured your life with much patience, and having been adorned with suffering, you have appeared pleasing to God. Moreover, having acquired boldness towards the Lord, pray to Him to deliver us from all evil, with love honoring your memory and singing to you: Rejoice, Matrono, who helps us in sorrows and misfortunes. Ikos 1 Having lived like an angel, blessed Matrono, through bodily suffering you have whitened your soul and you have been granted heavenly joy as a participant in being. And now, being in the Kingdom of Heaven, together with the faces of the angels and all the saints, constantly praying for us, singing with tenderness the following: Rejoice, praise to the land of Ryazan; Rejoice, new Russian prayer book. Rejoice, thou who has pleased God with thy life; Rejoice, who through patience has whitened the soul. Rejoice, adorned with suffering; Rejoice, thou crowned with the crown of glory from God. Rejoice, you who pray boldly to the Lord; Rejoice, glorified on earth. Rejoice, for now you stand before the King of kings; Rejoice, for you remember those who honor you before God. Rejoice, you who dwell in Heaven with all the saints; Rejoice, you who pray to God for those who glorify you. Rejoice, Matrono, who helps us in sorrows and misfortunes.

Kontakion 2 Seeing how the Lord chose you through illness from childhood, for His strength is made perfect in weakness, we rejoice in God’s care for you, crying out to Him: Alleluia. Ikos 2 Understanding God's will, from your youth you committed yourself to the Lord, and having taken up your cross of bodily illnesses, as if from the hand of Christ Himself, through all your life you irrevocably followed Him. We, the Lord, who chose you, glorify and joyfully cry out to you: Rejoice, chosen by God; Rejoice, unconvinced of Christ. (This kontakion is read three times, then ikos 1 and kontakion 1)

First prayer O glorious and worthy mother Matrono, your life is filled with sorrow, but looking at your humility, we pray to you, the saint of God, beg the all-merciful God to bestow His mercy on us, unworthy, and, moreover, confirm and strengthen us in bearing our cross, Let us deny ourselves and follow the path of salvation after Christ, humbled by the mighty hand of God, accepting everything from His hand: we know that the Lord alone can raise up the fallen, and bring back the lost, and correct those who have been tempted, and make sinners righteous. Amen.

Prayer for the gift of children O blessed mother Matrono, we resort to your intercession and we tearfully pray to you, as one who has great boldness towards the Lord, pour out a warm prayer for your servants, who are in spiritual sorrow and asking for help from you. Amen.

Matrona performed many miracles during her lifetime

Saint Matrona performed many miracles. Since 1933 it has changed noticeably. If earlier she listened to those who came to her and talked, now she seemed to have ceased to be interested in earthly life.

She spoke quite rarely and reluctantly about everyday matters. But she was ready to talk about spiritual life for hours.

Nikolai Pravdolyubov often came to Matrona, and she sometimes talked with them for a very long time.

In 1935, a case was opened against priest Nikolai and his book. 10 people were arrested, although 12 should have been arrested. Matrona was also arrested according to the list. Everyone had already been sent to Ryazan and Moscow, but for some reason they were afraid to touch Matrona. But soon at the meeting it was decided to “remove Matron as a harmful element.” When they came for Matrona, they began to carry her out and were surprised that she was very light. Then she told the chairman that all his children would be just as easy. From that moment on, all his children stopped growing.

Then the car broke down very often on the road to Kasimov. From there she was taken to Ryazan, and then to Moscow. One day this chairman was dying. Still, they told him that such a difficult death was because of Matronushka. After which he confessed his sins and went to the Lord.
