I asked one confessor engaged in social activities with a whole bunch of spiritual children: “Do you know anything about the blasphemous film?” He answered me: “I don’t know anything.” I didn’t know anything, but I myself serve in a big city. They put people to sleep, leave them as they are, so that they don’t worry and have fun. Look, don’t under any circumstances say that there will be a war or that there will be a Second Coming and therefore we need to prepare, make sure that people don’t get excited under any circumstances! It’s the same as those old women who, as if death does not await them, lament: “Don’t talk about death, only about holidays and christenings,” and thus experience false joy. And if they thought about the fact that an old man who lived nearby died yesterday, that another was dying and would also die, that the day after tomorrow there would be a memorial service for someone who was much younger than them, then they would think about death and say : “I need to confess, I need to prepare spiritually, because perhaps Christ will soon call me to another life.” Otherwise, death comes and takes them away unprepared. And others speak out of falsely understood “kindness.” “Do not tell heretics that they are in delusion, to show our love for them,” and so they equalize everything. Yes, if they had lived in the first years of Christianity, we would not have had a single saint! Christians were told then: “Just throw the incense on the fire, and don’t give up on Christ.” Christians did not accept this. “Just pretend to quit.” They didn't accept it. “Don’t talk about Christ and go wherever you want, free.” Christians did not accept this either.
