Temples of my city. Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Krapivniki.

The Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Krapivniki is located next to the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery. And this is no coincidence.

It is known that many lay people worked in the monastery. And since it is impossible to marry or baptize within the walls of the monastery, a temple was erected nearby, which was later consecrated in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The temple has many names assigned to it, each of which is understandable.

Thus, the shrine was called the church “in Starye Serebryaniki” because silver workers used to live on this place.

“At Truba on Petrovka” - because the temple is located between Trubnaya Square and Petrovka Street.

As for the name “in Krapivniki,” there are several versions: either a lot of nettles grew at the site where the temple was built, or Krapivensky Lane, which later gave the name to the shrine, belonged to a person with a similar surname.
