Pilgrimage service "Nazareth", Optina Pustyn, pilgrimage and trips to Optina Pustyn. — Nazareth Pilgrimage Service

The Voronezh region is rich in shrines; individual churches and entire temple complexes are found everywhere. Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, Seraphim of Sarov and many other revered ministers of the cult performed their glorious deeds on Voronezh land.

Those who want to touch relics that breathe history and sincerely pray can choose any pilgrimage trip from those organized by the diocese. The choice is rich and all that remains is to decide on the purpose and date.

Upcoming trips from Voronezh

Those who have a car and are more or less familiar with the surrounding area can go on an independent tour. But it’s easier to trust the professionals. Thus, the Pilgrimage Service of the Voronezh Diocese has existed in the city for several years.

You can go there through the website or in person by going to the Intercession Cathedral, where the service is located. She organizes trips that include visits to holy places, meals and overnight stops (if necessary).

Diveevo

Diveevo is considered a true miracle of the Nizhny Novgorod land; it is a place of prayer; believers from all over Russia flock here. Pilgrimage trips from Voronezh to Diveevo can be one-day, but it is better to choose a multi-day tour that will allow you to touch several revered Orthodox shrines at once.

The pilgrimage service offers a 4-day journey, which will begin from the walls of the Intercession Cathedral (a prayer service for the travelers will be served here before the group sets off).

Diveevo is one of the main destinations for pilgrimage trips from Voronezh

The cost of the tour is 4,500 rubles, the date of the next trip is usually indicated in the schedule. You don’t have to worry about accommodation and food: everyone will be accommodated for the night in a private guest house, and you can eat in the monastery refectory.

The trip includes an overnight transfer (after the prayer service, which begins at 19.00). This must be taken into account, because not everyone tolerates a night on a bus equally well.

The plan for this trip is as follows: in the morning, pilgrims will arrive in Murom, where they will be able to attend the liturgy, observing the sacrament of the Eucharist (the transformation of wine and bread into the blood and body of the Lord). Then there will be a tour of the Annunciation Monastery and the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery.

The next stage of the journey is moving to Diveevo. The village with this beautiful name, founded by the Tatar Murza in 1559, is located in the Nizhny Novgorod region, today it is a small settlement with hospitable residents. They have long been accustomed to the constant stream of believers flocking to local shrines.

The Seraphim-Diveevo Monastery has been known for several centuries. Here, the nun Melgunova, who was stopping for the night, once had a vision, from which it followed: a monastery should be built on this place. Mother Agafya (Melgunova in the world) heeded the voice from above and founded a women’s monastery, which later received the blessing of Seraphim of Sarov.

The saint wanted the monastery to acquire the status of a women's monastery. He liked the place; after the death of the saint, he was buried here. True, the remains were later lost, but then found and returned to their final resting place.

In Diveevo, travelers will be accommodated in a hotel, will be able to attend evening services, and will have dinner in the refectory. They will be given a tour of the monastery and told about Mother Agafya and Seraphim of Sarov. Free time will be provided for walking and reflection, as well as visiting holy springs.

One of the sources bears the name of the healer Panteleimon, who is especially revered for the help he provides for various diseases. There are baths near the springs. Next, from Diveyevo the group will go to the source of Seraphim of Sarov in Tsyganovka, after which it is planned to depart back to Voronezh.

Divnogorye

Pilgrimage trips from Voronezh to the true miracle of the Voronezh region, Divnogorye, are carried out regularly, however, due to the specifics of this shrine (it is a cave monastery complex in chalk rocks), this is only possible in the summer or warm spring-autumn months. Therefore, those wishing to get to Divnogorye should check the website of the Pilgrimage Service so as not to miss the date.

Excursions are one-day, they begin at 7.00 am. After a prayer service for the travelers, the group will go to the Divnogorye Nature Reserve.

The cave complex of the Divnogorsk monastery arose in 1640. The appearance of this Orthodox shrine is associated with the names of schemamonk Xenophon and Josaph, who settled on the site of the future monastery and began construction and improvement.

However, there is another version. According to it, the monastery walls are much more ancient, dating back to the times when there were constant skirmishes between the Russians and the Tatar-Mongols carrying out their devastating raids.

The Divnogorsk Monastery is full of mysteries; it has many underground passages, narrow cells where hermits lived, and various “divas”. The main “miracle” and one of the main shrines for which people travel to Divnogrie is represented by the “Sicilian Icon of the Mother of God,” according to legend, found by miracle: it was discovered on a chalk pillar.

From the moment the icon entered the monastery until today, it has been surrounded by special veneration, since it brings relief to those who suffer and heals ailments. It is believed that she repeatedly stopped pestilence. Hence its second popular name – “Iscelian”.

Pilgrims will be told the history of the monastery, given the opportunity to walk through the caves of the complex and have lunch in the monastery refectory. Then, at about 19.00, departure to Voronezh follows.

Dace

Trips from the diocese to Yelets go on all year, regardless of weather conditions. The “Voronezh Pilgrim” offers trips on a monthly basis.

The trip will cost 1,200 rubles and includes the following services:

  • transport;
  • food (meal at the Znamensky Convent);
  • excursion service.

Not only believers can go on the tour, since in Yelets, if you wish, you can independently visit the museum named after. I. S. Bunina (for an additional fee).

There are many churches in Yelets. A visit to the Resurrection Cathedral will be obligatory, and then pilgrims will visit the ancient temple - the Grand Duke Michael-Alexandrovskaya Church. It is dedicated to Mikhail Tverskoy, who laid down his life in the fight against the Tatar-Mongols and accepted martyrdom, and to the great Alexander Nevsky, and it was built in memory of the day of the assassination of Alexander II.

The temple is magnificent: it is crowned with golden domes decorated with artificial crystal. They appeared after the restoration of the temple, as well as a new luxurious iconostasis with beautifully executed figures of angels, and stained glass windows and some other details in the interior remained from earlier times.

The Znamensky Monastery knew good times, was once rich, and then, according to the decree of Catherine II, who raised the issue of reducing monastic holdings throughout Russia, it was abolished.

After a major fire in Yelets, only 2 nuns remained in the practically disappeared monastery (the rest were transferred to other monasteries after abolition). They continued to conduct services, living in the surviving cellar.

After some time, novice Melania, a local ascetic, came here. Around then the monastery began to be restored. By the 19th century it was already a large complex, in which 400 inhabitants lived: workers, nuns and novices.

The monastery possessed an amazing shrine - the image of the Most Holy Theotokos “The Sign”. Whoever approached the image with faith and prayer, he gave healing to everyone. Legends speak about this. The image of Christ the Savior was also especially protected.

During the period of the struggle of the Soviet regime with Orthodoxy, the last abbess of the Znamensky Monastery was brutally tortured, and services ceased for many years. Today prayers are heard here again, everything has been restored. After attending services and a tour of the complex, pilgrims are given the opportunity to plunge into the font (it is located at the foot of the monastery).

Zadonsk

Pilgrimage trips from Voronezh to shrines are organized not only by pilgrimage services, but also by ordinary, “secular” travel agencies. So, together with a guide from “Mari Nika-Tour” you can visit the city of Zadonsk. Travelers will hear the author's excursion as part of the “Spiritual Shrines” series.

The first point will be the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Monastery, which began in the 17th century. elders Kirill and Gerasim.

Nativity of the Virgin Mary Monastery in Zadonsk

The incorrupt relics of the elders were kept in the monastery for a long time and were revered as a special shrine, and during the period of struggle against religious “obscurantism” they were taken by NKVD officers to the local cemetery and somehow buried there. Subsequently, the relics were found and returned to their original resting place.

Then we plan to visit the Mother of God-Tikhonovsky Monastery (it is located in the village of Tyunino, 5 km from Zadonsk). The last stop on this excursion is the Transfiguration Convent (also built at a distance of 5 km from Zadonsk). Pilgrims will be invited to swim in 3 fonts located at the springs next to the temple complexes.

In Zadonsk, travelers will be told a lot about the local clergyman Tikhon of Zadonsk. This elder has come a long way from a boy from a poor, practically destitute family to the Bishop of Voronezh and Yelets. He lived in the 18th century, the family was so mired in poverty that his mother wanted to give Tikhon up for adoption, so that there would be at least one less mouth to feed in the house.

Tikhon's older brother objected. The boy was sent to study, and he showed brilliant abilities. Having come of age and having received a good education, Tikhon became a respected man, later deeply revered for his numerous good deeds, zealous care for his spiritual flock, and righteous life.

Kostomarovo

Pilgrimage trips from Voronezh are also organized by the Russian Palestine Travel Agency, which offers to go to the temples of the Kostomarovsky Convent.

The cost will depend on the number of participants:

Number of people in the groupPrice per excursion (per person in rubles)
72600
201800
40900

The Kostomarovsky Monastery is one of 40 amazing cave temples that are located near Voronezh. Monks and travelers who have already visited these places assure that the landscapes here are reminiscent of the places where Jerusalem is located.

The Kostomarovsky monastery has its own Garden of Gethsemane, its own Jordan River and Mount Tabor. The chalk temples and underground passages of the local monastery complex have an ancient history. They may be over 1000 years old. In any case, when they came here in the 17th century. Kyiv monks (they were forced to hide from persecution), they discovered ready-made churches with cells and passages.

Particularly revered local shrines: the icon of the Mother of God and Child, which recently began to bleed and leak myrrh, and the icon of the “Holy Family,” which provides assistance in family life.

There is a cave temple of Seraphim of Sarov in the complex, there is a cave of repentance, which can only be reached by bowing deeply, since the entrance gradually narrows.

The Kostomarovsky monastery was relatively lucky: it was not destroyed, like Divnogorsk and Belogorsky, but continued to receive believers even in the 30s. last century.

From 1946, for more than 10 years, the authorities officially allowed religious services to be held here. True, then a ban was imposed anyway, and the revival began only in the 90s. During this period, nuns came here, and since then the monastery has lived, providing help and support to the suffering.

There are excursions around the temples, but you need to dress warmly: all year round the air temperature remains no higher than +130C. Pilgrims will see cells, very ascetically equipped, with walls covered with green mold (cold and dampness take their toll). Monks lived in these cells, and one of them was a stylite: he did not allow himself to sit or lie down.

Pilgrims will have the opportunity to attend the service, venerate the “Execution Icon,” and hear the story of Seraphim of Sarov.

In summer, from Voronezh you can go to the Belogorye monastery cave complex, founded in the 17th century. The length of the caves, including internal passages, is more than 2 km. They are located at a depth of more than 75 m. Once there, travelers are immersed in an amazing atmosphere, detached from all earthly problems and worries.

Such trips are organized by the travel agency Estragid, starting in July. On the way to Belogorye, travelers will examine a monument of secular architecture - the Pavlovsk shipyard.

The “Voronezh Pilgrim” invites Orthodox Christians to go to the village of Voron-Lozovka, in the Lipetsk region. In one day (price 600 rubles) you can visit the ancient church of the Archangel Michael, built in 1882, famous for its miracles: recently an icon began to stream myrrh here, and then church utensils. Science cannot yet explain this phenomenon.

You can also go on a one-day trip to Izbishche (cost 500 rubles) - Upper Turovo, where you can listen to a service in the Holy Resurrection Church. Once this church was so large that it could accommodate 1000 people. The ancient architectural masterpiece was blown up by the Germans during the Second World War, but the bell tower remained. The temple moved into it, and now all services take place in the bell tower.

Among the many pilgrimage trips, you can choose the one to which your soul lies, and go from Voronezh on a short trip to see new, interesting places and heal your soul by touching shrines.
