How to prepare for communion
When choosing the day for the Sacrament of Communion, take into account that in addition to the main actions, you will need to calculate the time and allocate another 7 days in your work schedule. This is how much is required to prepare for the canon of the Guardian Angel before communion. The main tasks that a believer must solve during this period:
- follow the prayer rule;
- analyze the degree of sinfulness of your actions and thoughts, change your character.
A prayer rule may include different texts. Among them:
- morning prayer;
- evening prayer;
- Holy Scripture;
- Akathists;
- Psalter.
Despite the established rules, you can slightly change the order in which the texts are read. So, they take into account their own capabilities: if there is not enough time, you can slightly change the volume of the spoken text.
For this reason, it is recommended to seek the advice of a clergyman,
to avoid mistakes.
There are recommendations for exactly when to read various prayer texts:
- Saturday - an akathist addressed to Jesus, as well as the Most Holy Theotokos and Guardian Angel;
- Sunday - read Saturday texts twice;
- on Monday they move on to other sacred words - “prayer to John the Baptist and Intercessor,” but this text does not stand alone, it is read along with what was said the day before (on Saturday and Sunday);
- Tuesday – read prayer rules and a prayer (at the believer’s choice from those recommended by the clergyman);
- Wednesday - the penitential canon (Jesus Christ, the Mother of God and the Intercessor Angel), on the same day the sacred text to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is added;
- Thursday: prayer to the Holy Cross, the Two Marys, and also to the Protector (good spirit Angel);
- Friday: sacred texts that were recited on Saturday.
That part of the prayer service, which is called the Penitential Canon to the Guardian Angel,
