The prototype of Hotei was the Chinese monk Qiqi, who lived during the Tang (618-907) and Later Liang (907-923) dynasties, who preferred crowded bazaars to monastic solitude and wandered around China, making a living by predicting the weather [1]. His only possessions were a staff and a begging bag called a hotei, from which the monk received his nickname. The consolidation of this nickname was also facilitated by the second “bag” - a huge belly[1], which no cassock could cover and in which, according to the Chinese, vital energy was concentrated. The Bodhisattva Maitreya was distinguished by a similar belly, whose embodiment was considered Tsitsi, who was loved by people for his cheerful character and easy disposition and became the hero of many legends and stories[2]. According to legend, where he appeared, good luck, health and prosperity came to people. If anyone asked what was in his bag, he would answer: “I have the whole world in there.” In the 15th century, Hotei, as the embodiment of happiness and carefreeness, was included in Japan as one of the seven deities of happiness [1].

– God of happiness, wealth, fun and prosperity.
Laughing Buddha, fulfilling wishes. God of joy and communication. One of the seven gods of happiness. The most cheerful and positive of all existing gods of all times and pantheons! A figurine of Hotei can be found in the homes of millions of people, regardless of their religion. And no wonder - you won’t meet a more good-natured deity, and you want wealth and happiness! There are several legends about Hotei:
Once upon a time (at the end of the 10th century) in one country (let's call it China) there lived a monk, he was small and fat, and his name was Tse-Tsy.
The monk constantly wandered and his faithful companions were only a large canvas bag and wooden rosary. By the way, the name familiar to everyone came from the bag - Hotei (Ho Tei - canvas bag in Japanese). And in China the monk was nicknamed Budai. In the East, the belly is considered a haven for the soul, so Hotei can be called very soulful, and he (the belly) is also the personification of generosity and breadth of soul. The legend about Hotei says that wherever he came, people immediately experienced health, luck and prosperity. Some people asked what Monk Hotei was carrying in his bag, he said that he was carrying “The Whole World” on his shoulders. Later, the contents of his bag came to be considered the Great Void (Ta-Khun), which personifies the “nothing” from which the great “everything” was born. After the death of the monk, Hotei began to be considered the eighth incarnation of the Buddha, Buddha Maitreya. According to the canons of Buddhism, Buddha Maitreya is a ninth-level bodhisattva, who will be born as Buddha Manushi 5000 years after the death of the great Shakyamuni Gautama, whose arrival will be the achievement of world harmony. Now he lives in the heavenly country of Tushita (Garden of Joy) and, according to Japanese legend, in the form of Hotei he descends to people to please them. Canonized as the god of carefree happiness (one of the seven gods of happiness) in Japan in the 17th century. Another legend tells us about a laughing Chinese:
His name was Budai and he lived during the Tang Dynasty.
He did not want to call himself a Zen teacher or gather disciples around him. Instead, he wandered the streets with a large bag in which he put sweets, fruits or pies. He gave all this to the children who played on the street and gathered around him. He created a kindergarten on the street. If he met a person on the street who had devoted himself to Zen, he would stretch out his hand and say, “Give me a coin.” And if someone asked him to return to the temple and teach others, he would repeat again: “Give me a coin.” One day, while he was doing his play-work, another Zen teacher happened to be nearby and asked him: “What is the essence of Zen?” Hotei immediately dropped his bag to the ground in silent response. “Then,” another asked him, “what is the realization of Zen?” The happy Chinese immediately hung his bag on his shoulder and continued on his way. And another legend:
When Hotei achieved enlightenment, he began to laugh.
He lived after this for almost thirty more years; and laughed all these years. Even in his sleep—his disciples sometimes heard him—he laughed. His whole message to the world was laughter. He moved from place to place, from one market square to another, stood in the center of the market and began to laugh - that’s the whole sermon. He laughed excitingly, contagiously; it was a real laugh, his stomach shook with laughter, Hotei fell to the ground and rolled on it. The people gathered around also began to laugh, the laughter spread further, like tidal waves, and now the whole village was overcome with laughter. People were looking forward to Hotei coming to their village, because he brought them so much joy, so much bliss. Hotei never said a single word. They asked him about Buddha, and he laughed; they asked him about enlightenment and he laughed, they asked him about truth and he laughed. Laughter was his only message. hence Hotei the talisman
They say that in order to enlist the help of Hotei, you need to stroke his stomach every day.
And if you rub the Hotei figurine on your stomach exactly three hundred times, thinking about your most cherished desire, rest assured: your desire will come true. Therefore, stroking the belly of the Laughing Buddha has become a habit among many Chinese businessmen. Others believe that the Laughing Buddha is the Buddha of Happiness because nothing brings him more joy than collecting all the world's misfortunes into his bag. This is the reason for his fun: he takes on what he loves most in the world - other people's problems. According to Feng Shui, you should place a figurine of Hotei in the living room, preferably so that his gaze is directed towards the front door; and the figurine should be as large as possible. The presence of the Laughing Buddha will have a beneficial effect on any room, as the image of this deity is believed to radiate positive Qi. Moreover, Hotei is able to absorb all the negative and deadly Qi inside the house, it is a good antidote to the annual invasion of flying stars, bringing with them illnesses and losses. If you decide to purchase a Hotei, choose a figurine made from a material that will not disturb the harmony of the place where you intend to place it, or from a material considered most favorable to you. As for the Hotei figurines, they can be golden or white with various attributes. If in your Hotei’s hand on a ginseng staff there is a pumpkin, a gourd and a bunch of six ancient Chinese coins of happiness, this promises you financial well-being, success, a happy long life, purity of family relationships and well-being for your descendants. The peach, a symbol of immortality, held in the left hand promises many years of healthy life. If Hotei holds a fan, it means that all obstacles that complicate your path to your cherished goal will be swept away from your path. When Hotei sits in a pyramid, among coins and golden sand, then such a paperweight will calm the “workhorse”, help him concentrate, get into a working mood, and, of course, earn more. Sometimes you can meet Hotei with a magic pearl in his hands. This is a symbol of both material and spiritual wealth. If Hotei holds a rocker, and on it is a lucky coin and a basket of gold bars, this is a justified expectation of great wealth, and the necklace around his neck (it shows the hieroglyph “Fuk”) is a promise of happiness and good luck. When Hotei is depicted with the Dragon, this is a guarantee of attracting solid capital, successful development of a business, or the opportunity to open your own business with the attraction of serious financial investments. The pose of the Hotei figurine doesn't really matter, but take your time and choose the figurine you like best. Whenever you feel down, rub the Laughing Buddha's belly and look into his eyes. You will find that his joy is contagious and his smile will lift your spirits. from here Tags:

How to make wishes
The seed contains the ideal image of the future perfect flower. It is destined to increase, unfold and blossom. If this internal image is thought out to the smallest detail, the flower will be beautiful.
I will not reveal anything new if I say that every person has desires. Many people get upset because their wishes don't come true. I can assure you that this is not the case. Your wishes come true. But only those that you have clearly formulated.
First, look around you. All the things that surround you are your desires. Everything you acquired was your desire. I hope you agree with this. Every day you eat is also your desire. The hungrier you are, the more you think about food, i.e. your concentration on an item of food or some thing increases. But since a person is a creature (for the most part) with weak concentration, a person cannot concentrate on one desire for a long time, but immediately jumps to another, and most often he desires many things at once. If a person desires a lot, he does not clearly formulate his desire, everything turns out abstractly, and desires are fulfilled abstractly.
You can object, and that is your right. You will say that this is not so and I agree with you. This means that your concentration is sufficiently developed, and you clearly know what you want. Then I congratulate you! You don't have to read any further in this article. But suddenly you want to check...
So, the fulfillment of desires depends on the proper degree of your concentration and, of course, on the proper degree of energy concentration. With energy, the situation is simpler - where your attention is concentrated, energy immediately accumulates there. So the key to the method I'm describing here is concentration. The ability to concentrate on your desire.
How the method works.
Everything is very simple. You take 7 sheets of A4 format (standard sheet for copiers and printers). And describe your desire on these seven sheets . You describe everything there is to say about him, every little detail. You cannot take fewer sheets, but you can take more. Having described your desire, everything that can be written about it, you will thus eventually formulate it or clarify it, if before that you did not know very clearly what you want. Then we begin to compress the entire description into one sentence. Don't rush to do it all at once, try to do it in stages. Trust your intuition, your inner feeling. Sometimes that final sentence doesn't turn out exactly the way we formulated it in the first place. Do this work consciously. After the work has been done, after highlighting a sentence from which not a single word, not a single letter can be deleted, words cannot be rearranged or a punctuation mark will be thrown out, put your piece of paper aside and forget about it . Sometimes the wish comes true during this work, and sometimes - immediately after its completion. It happens that it takes some time to complete it. It all depends on the complexity of the desire. As practice shows, it is better to start with simple desires in order, firstly, to make sure (believe) that the method works, and secondly, it is easier to learn from simple examples.
One of the immortal Masters of India said: If your desire has not yet taken on a visible form, it is not God who is to blame, but you yourself. No need to start all over again: just insist on your own. Stretch out your cup, as the prophet Elijah held it out, and it will surely be filled. No matter what doubts you may have, constantly thank the Lord. Do not stop! One more effort and your faith will be rewarded; your faith will become knowledge. Let's say you want ice. If you start calling every object in a row the word “ice,” you will waste your energy and achieve nothing. You must mentally imagine the object of your desires and hold it in memory until it acquires clear outlines, and then completely distract yourself from this image and look into the Universal Divine Substance. Do not forget that the Substance is a part of God, and therefore a part of yourself, and this Substance contains everything you need; that God supplies you with this Substance as quickly as you can use it; and that its reserves are inexhaustible. Every person, consciously or unconsciously, draws material from this Substance. Concentrate your thought and vision on the one central atom—God—until your desire is imprinted on it. When you lower the vibration of this atom, it will turn into ice. All neighboring atoms will readily obey your desire. Their vibrations will gradually decrease, and they will stick to the central particle. And here is a piece of ice. You didn't even need water. The main thing is to have an ideal.”
If a desire is correctly formulated, it will certainly come true. Desire is a form of prayer . A prayer that is always heard is a true, and therefore scientific, prayer that corresponds to an immutable law. Immerse yourself in a perfect state and accurately formulate your request. Then plant the perfect idea in your soul. Ask yourself for health and healing from all illnesses; ask for harmony and abundance, deliverance from strife, poverty and deprivation. Throw off everything unnecessary, like old clothes. It has long worn out, you have outgrown it; part with her cheerfully. Don't even look at this pile of cast-offs. This is nothing more than nothing. Fill the resulting voids with thoughts of the Infinite and Eternal God. Then remember that the word “God” is a seed. And let it grow.
Rely on the Lord for everything. All you have to do is praise Him and tell Him what you want. Leave everything else to the Father. Remember: He will do everything for you. Fulfill your role to the end, and He will fulfill His. Ask. Insist. Ask God for everything you need, and God will meet you halfway. Constantly think about God's abundance. If extraneous thoughts come, banish them and bless the abundance of God. Give thanks to God continually . Bless Him and give Him praise for what He has done for you, through yourselves; for what you received, what you wanted, and you only wanted good things, which you wanted to share with everyone. Thank the Lord silently and secretly. Pray to your Father in secret, and the Father, who reads in the recesses of your souls, will reward you openly.
You will remember this event with joy and reverence. By testing God's great law for yourself, you will understand the power of your own words spoken in prayer with faith. Remember that the Lord has fulfilled His plan. He has lovingly poured out and continues to generously pour out upon us the goodness for which we pray. He said, “Test Me…whether I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour out blessings upon you to the fullest?”
How is God portrayed?
The god Hotei with a bag in his hands is considered a trivial image. Today, manufacturers are ready to offer customers figurines in various poses and with various objects. The choice of one or the other depends on the wishes of the future owner. It is worth paying attention to the following:
- A figurine with a lot of money lying around Hotei: for those who want to get a big income. The option with a money bag on the shoulder or in the hands is also perfect for them.
- Sitting or lying down and smiling: for those who want to get rid of life's difficulties and adversities.
- The Buddha of Abundance with a lot of jewelry around the figurine and on himself: for those who strive for a luxurious and lush life.
- Hotya with a cane: for those who want to regain lost health.
If the buyer does not have a clear goal of what kind of help he wants to receive, then he just needs to buy the Hotei statue he likes. In any case, the bulk of the trinkets are accompanied by an abundance of jewelry or coins, as well as a wide smile on the god's face.
Story two - how Tara helps women's desires
“Nothing helps, even cry! — a friend shared with me last year. I knew that her main desire in life was to become a mother and give birth to a child. After many years of visiting doctors, nothing serious was revealed, she and her husband were healthy, but they could not get pregnant. And suddenly a message: “You can congratulate!!! I’ve been waiting for a girl) for 7 months already!” A friend admitted that the miracle became possible thanks to the Goddess Green Tara. She began to recite her mantra OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA and her wish came true!”
Yes, sometimes it seems that desire is impossible to fulfill, despair is overwhelming and there is no way out. Often, in pursuit of a dream, the feeling of joy and peace in the soul is lost. Then the mantra of desires for Green Tara helps! Put all your soul and energy into the sacred words OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA, whisper it, read it, sing it, scroll it in your head.
I know many women, not just my friend, for whom the Green Tara mantra of wish fulfillment has shown real miracles! She bestowed mutual love, a long-awaited pregnancy, healing from illness, and solutions to complex problems. Moreover, it helps very quickly, since it is the embodiment of the power of the wind. Just ask from the heart!
The wise Chogye Trichen Rinpoche writes: “Thanks to prayers to Tara, all difficulties and obstacles cannot harm you; they go away naturally. You become impenetrable, invulnerable. All your wishes will be fulfilled: if you need a child, you will find one. If you have financial needs, they will be met. Whatever desires you have, they will all be fulfilled by praising Tara. In fact, nothing more than this practice is needed; she accomplishes everything!”
How to Practice the Powerful Tara Wishing Mantra
Green Tara is loved, worshiped and prayed to all over the world, regardless of nationality and religion. The practice is simple: say your wish, request to Tara, fold your hands in the Namaste gesture at the level of the heart chakra and read the great mantra OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA 108 times. Do this daily for at least 30 days. And, believe me, the day will definitely come when you will thank her for fulfilling your desires in the most wonderful and amazing way.
How to use this wish fulfillment mantra
It's simple:
- Address Ganesha in your own words and express your intention-request. For example: “Great Ganesha, I direct all the fruits from reading this mantra to the fulfillment of my desire - a profitable and quick sale of an apartment without problems for me and my family. Thank you for your help in making this wish come true!”
- Next, we read the mantra OM GAM GANAPATAYE NAMAHA 108 times. It is better to read it in the morning or evening, alone, in a secluded place where no one will disturb you. When reading, it is advisable to turn your face to the east. We count the number of repetitions on a rosary.
This is how to read the mantra.
Mantra of desires: listen
- Important! If you are interrupted or distracted during repetition, the mantra must be started again and read 108 times in a row, without interruption.
- If possible, place a figurine or image of Ganesha next to you and look at it while reading. The image of the elephant-faced Deity can also be visualized.
- This mantra of wish fulfillment is very powerful, so 30-40 days of daily reading is enough for “progress” to begin and results to appear.
- When your wish comes true, do not forget to thank Ganesha. You can make a small offering in front of his figurine/image - candy, cookies, condensed milk in a plate. Ganesha loves all this very much and will be happy.
Best position
How to correctly make a wish for love, about feelings, for a man, to get married sooner, for money, to win the lottery, or simply for the fulfillment of some blessing?
It is necessary to raise your eyes upward at an angle of 15-20 degrees above the horizontal. For the first time, to make it more comfortable for you, you can raise your two hands up and direct your gaze there. Then your body will get used to this position and will independently correctly determine the desired point. The eyes should be closed.
Correct eye position has a beneficial effect on the brain, and it automatically goes into alpha mode. The brain thinks that everything you dream about in this position needs to be achieved and realized as soon as possible.
