Feng Shui Basics

The phrase “made according to Feng Shui” (or “not made according to Feng Shui”) has long been a proverb. You have probably heard such statements even from those who are not familiar with this teaching.

This happens because many people live according to the basics of Feng Shui intuitively, without even knowing they exist. When you regularly clean your home, get rid of old junk in the pantry, use lighting and colors in the interior, these are already the basics of Feng Shui. You probably know families and homes that you want to visit again and again. They say about such a house “full cup”; the owners in it are an example of a happy family. So, Feng Shui foundations in your life can be spontaneous, random, or they can be conscious.

What is Feng Shui, what is its power? What tools and methods are used, how and why do they work? Why have various Feng Shui schools been so successful all over the world for several millennia? How can you ensure that your efforts are rewarded and that everything around you works for the success and prosperity of you and your family? How can the space in which we live and work help make our deepest dreams come true? What should your house be like, what kind of landscape around it will suit your family?

The ancient Chinese science of Feng Shui will answer all these and many other questions. There are several schools of Feng Shui that work with different tools, but they have had the same goal for several millennia - through the harmonization of external space, to help a person find balance, confidence and success in all areas of his life. Therefore, the division of schools into different directions is rather arbitrary: they simply look at the connection between man and nature from different angles and teach to understand these connections using tools familiar to each of the schools.

Classical schools of Feng Shui

Feng Shui

In Feng Shui, the basics are reflected in several schools, which are basic. Feng Shui originally has Chinese roots, drawing on Taoist, Buddhist and other ancient traditions. There are several main schools, many of which date back to ancient times. These include the Feng Shui Landscape School and the Compass School. They are also often divided into several other directions, but this still remains the classical school of Feng Shui.

Other schools appeared relatively recently, about 100 years ago. For example, the emergence of the Bagua school is attributed to this period. That, however, did not prevent this school from becoming a modern classic, incorporating knowledge of traditional trends.

There are also many other schools, which are rather branches of the main ones. Their main differences are the tools for work: hexagrams of the Book of Changes, changes in nature over time - in the School of three periods; harmony of the energies of Heaven, Man and Earth in the School of Three Harmonies and so on.

Modern Feng Shui masters also create their own schools and directions. They usually combine the knowledge and practical skills of several schools, interpreted or supplemented in their own way. These include, for example, the schools of New Age Feng Shui or Zen Feng Shui. In general, the variety of schools and directions is great, but the most popular and in demand is still the time-tested classic.

To this day, 3 schools have survived in their almost unchanged form: Landscape School, Compass School and Bagua School. Many methods of modern Feng Shui are based on them.

School of Forms (Landscape School)

An ancient teaching based on knowledge about the influence of the area, its energy on a person and his home. School of Form methods are used to determine the most favorable locations for construction. And not only residential premises, but also bridges, roads, the optimal location of urban natural areas, parks and so on.

The school's methodology is based on the theory that any landscape produces energy, which is possessed by mountains, rivers, hills and plains. This energy can and should be used to achieve absolutely specific goals in various areas of life. Supporters of this school are convinced that the correct relationship between the landscape and a certain side of the world, as well as a structure that will fit this landscape, will help a person live in harmony with himself and the space around him.

The school works with such basic Feng Shui concepts as the five elements (water, earth, fire, air, wood), five mythical animals and their characteristics (black turtle, green dragon, red phoenix, yellow snake and white tiger), energies Yin and Yang, circulation of Qi energy.

Masters of the landscape school carefully analyze the terrain according to several parameters, determining the movement of energy. For example, in mountains and hills their height, steepness or flatness will be important. Particular importance is attached to bodies of water, their proximity to the home, the strength of the current and its direction. The results of such an analysis will help you choose the best place of residence for a particular family. Living in “your” area, you will be calm, joyful, and your goals will be achieved faster and easier.

Compass School

Compass Lo Pan

This school of Feng Shui is sometimes also called the School of Three Periods. Many Feng Shui masters (for example, Lilian Tu) consider this school to be the simplest and most understandable, and its tool, the Lo Pan compass, is the most effective Feng Shui tool.

It is based on knowledge about the zonal distribution and movement of energy in the home itself in accordance with the cardinal directions and time. Work begins with determining the horoscope of the residents and their type. Next, the zones favorable for living in the house are calculated.

The main tool of this school is the traditional Lo Pan compass. This is a rather complex device with which a number of mathematical calculations are performed. It is more complex than a conventional compass; on its scale a large number of hieroglyphs, signs and symbols are located in a strictly defined sequence. In total, the compass has 3000 symbols, it is quite large, at least 20 cm. But at the same time, thanks to the huge number of ready-made graphs with interpretations of all symbols, even a beginner can work with it.

The Compass School is sometimes divided into several separate areas: the School of Flying Stars and the School of Eight Houses. Each of these schools uses its own Lo Pan compass.

The San Yuan School of Flying Stars describes the state, distribution and movement of energy in the house. The methods of this school are very popular nowadays.

The school of eight houses is eight trigrams, each of which shows the direction of the four main cardinal directions (north, south, west, east) and four intermediate ones. Each side represents a certain quality of life. It is the Lo Pan compass that helps to identify and properly arrange each zone.

Bagua School (School of Eight Palaces)

Despite its relative youth (according to various sources, it is 100-300 years old), this school has many admirers in the West. Its basics are easy to understand, and its tools are accessible to all of us. It is often referred to as the School of the Compass, since the work is also based on the Lo Pan compass. There are two methods of working with it: from the front door and to the cardinal points. Thus, the Bagua school combines the knowledge of both schools: Landscape and Compass.

The school monitors the interaction of the premises and family members, manifesting and developing their life aspirations.

The work is based on a simple principle. The room is divided into 9 zones, each of which corresponds to a person’s life goals: good health, success in business, partnership, education, and so on. Proper arrangement and support of these zones contribute to the normalization of the desired sector. Activation of zones can be achieved using objects, colors, symbols and lighting.

The Bagua school also distinguishes between Eastern and Western people. Depending on the type, it is further determined who and where is better to live, work or study. It is believed that by working correctly with the Bagua symbol and correctly correlating a person and a place with one of the trigrams, you can balance your energy and the energy of the Universe. And this will bring peace, happiness and prosperity to the family.

The universality of knowledge of Feng Shui schools

Chinese lantern

If earlier schools competed and argued among themselves about the correctness and effectiveness of their methods, now the boundaries are erased, knowledge becomes universal and generalized. Therefore, it is impossible to say for sure that one or another school is better or more effective. Feng Shui is so diverse that everyone will choose the right tool for the job.

People who have dedicated their lives to studying Feng Shui and applying it in practice are called masters. As a rule, good masters are not limited to the knowledge of one school. They try to use the entire arsenal, including the parameters of interaction between time, place, environment, natural objects and humans. Modern craftsmen select specific tools to solve specific problems for each person. Therefore, the boundaries between schools are now quite arbitrary, and the tools and knowledge are universal.

The Feng Shui Master is in each of us

If you want to learn how to “live according to Feng Shui,” you have two options. The first is to seek the help of a Feng Shui master who will organize your space and help you achieve your goals. The second option is to become a master yourself. No one knows you and your family better. Yes, it will require time and effort from you, but soon you will be able to organize your life and the lives of your loved ones. It doesn’t matter whether it’s “household” Feng Shui, which is familiar to many (throw away old broken things, fix the taps in the house), or whether you go further. The main thing is that this knowledge will help you be happy.

Let's not wait for someone to come and make you happy and your life fulfilled. Learn to do it yourself. And in our articles we will tell you how to do this, introduce you to the basics of Feng Shui, its schools, tools and, most importantly, teach you how to use them in everyday life.

The knowledge that you can gain at the Feng Shui Academy came to us from Hong Kong through the ancient tradition of oral transmission of knowledge. The head of the Academy, A. G. Anishchenko, studied with one of the five leading masters - carriers of knowledge of the ancient school of Imperial Feng Shui

.
The teacher of Alexander Georgievich Anishchenko, Master Chan Kunwa, after completing his training
was sent by his teacher to England to study how to correctly apply the laws
of Feng Shui
in the Western world.
This work took about twenty years, after which Master Chan began to pass on his knowledge to his students. Our leader became one of them. The knowledge that you can gain is several orders of magnitude higher than the book level, since all the basic techniques that we use have never been published, but were passed on only by word of mouth from teacher to student. The main feature of our approach to Feng Shui
is the understanding that it is the science of the basic energies of the surrounding world, which means it is as universal as, say, mathematics or physics.
This allows us to skillfully apply the laws of Feng Shui
in the context of our Russian culture and traditions, without introducing anything alien into people's lives.

During five years of study

You will receive a wide range of systematic knowledge based on deep theory, and will be able to work it out on many practical examples, the analysis of which is accompanied by careful analysis and discussion. Upon completion of training, you will be able to independently understand the energetic reasons for everything that happens in people’s lives and find ways to solve their problems.

To implement the training

we will organize:

  • groups for Muscovites, classes in which are held once a week for three hours;
  • groups for nonresidents who can come to Moscow once a month for two days (Saturday and Sunday, classes for six hours a day);
  • groups in other cities of Russia and abroad.

In the learning

you will receive all the necessary training materials in the form of tables and diagrams;
you will be asked to do your homework. Your training
ends with writing a thesis, which is a real consultation on any object (residential or office).

Upon successful completion you will receive a professional diploma in Feng Shui

.

Training in the branches of the Feng Shui Academy is carried out according to the training

.
Classes are organized in the form of seminars
once a month for two days (Saturday and Sunday) for 6 hours a day, according to the branch schedule.
Seminars
are conducted by leading teachers of the Feng Shui Academy, thus the
training
in the branches is fully consistent with the
training
in Moscow.
After successfully completing your studies
and defending your thesis project, you receive a diploma from the Feng Shui Academy.

Should the word “feng shui” be written together, separately or with a hyphen?

The word “feng shui” should be written together, and not separately as feng shui for the following reasons:

1. If you look at the textbook “Fundamentals of the Chinese Language” (authors Huang Shuying and T.P. Zadoenko), then on pages 8 and 9 of the first volume you can read about the rules of word formation in the Chinese language. It is explained here that words of this kind have two equivalent roots and are written together.

2. There is a rule for writing Chinese names consisting of two characters. It applies to both the names of people and the names of places. For this reason, for example, we write “Beijing” as one word. The name of the city Beijing translates as “Northern Capital”. And although this name consists of two words, each of which has its own meaning, it is customary to write it together.

The same is true for Feng Shui. If we translate the meaning of each hieroglyph into Russian, we get “wind water”. However, since this word is the name of science, we write it into one word without translation - “feng shui”.

3. In the Russian language there are many two-root words that are names of sciences. Here are both Russian-language words and words borrowed from other languages. For example, “geography” or “natural history”. Thus, in our language there is a tradition of denoting sciences in one word.

There are, of course, other significant reasons why the word “Feng Shui” should be written together, for example, it is worth using not “ Feng Shui courses ” or “ Feng Shui training ”, but rather “ Feng Shui courses ”. You can, for example, remember the rules of the Russian language for using a hyphen. Or pay attention to how the Chinese themselves write this word in Russian. For example, the respected Dr. Wu Weixin, author of many books on Chinese medicine and Feng Shui. (By the way, Weixin are also two hieroglyphs).

Separate or simply incorrect spelling – “ Feng Shui courses, training ” or “ Feng Shui training ” – distorts the meaning of this concept.

Often, already in the first lesson, students ask us questions - “Tell me how to correctly write – “ Feng Shui training ”, or “ Feng Shui training ?”, “How to correctly pronounce – “ Feng Shui courses ” or “ Feng Shui courses ?”. As for replacing a vowel, in colloquial speech it is acceptable, although not desirable. Strict academic rules prescribe the use of this word in writing only in one form - “ feng shui training ”.

At the end of our explanations, we invite you to go to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow and see how Chinese officials themselves write the word “feng shui”. You will see that the option we offer is officially recognized. Just don’t be surprised that Feng Shui is considered a superstition there. This is still the official position of communist ideologists. And although many of them privately resort to the help of Feng Shui masters, this science is still banned in China.
