Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan

(moon. 東京の大主教、全日本の府主教ダニイル), aka
Nushiro Ikuo
(moon. 主代郁夫) is one of the candidates for the post of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. Thanks to the forces of Dvach and the flashmobbers who joined him, he was nominated as the undisputed leader in an Internet vote in January 2009, quite confusing the minds of bureaucrats from the Russian Orthodox Church and the parachurch public.

  • [edit] The point is this

In terms of alignment, the essence is this:
After the call to the authorities of Alexy II, shortly before the Local Council, an online referendum was held on the RuNet to select a patriarch from the list of metropolitans and bishops. Among them was also a racial Japanese—Daniil himself. Of course, this referendum had no influence on the very fact of which of the metropolitans would become patriarch, either de jure or de facto - the patriarch is elected by the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church. Nevertheless, some bright mind thought that it would be possible to please the laity, let them have fun by voting for the future patriarch. We made a website, hung up photographs of the candidates, and everything was wrapped up...

At 11:51 on January 12, Viktor Saxon (Vedomosti) came up with the idea to vote for Daniil in a blog on Yarushechka. By evening, the flash mob slowly smoldering on blogs reached Dvach, where an appeal to the masses appeared in support of the Japanese candidate. Anonymous got down to business with lightning speed, forcing the Metropolitan all over the RuNet. Daniil Tokyo suddenly took the lead, overtaking the favorite Kirill. The insidious representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, of course, were not prepared for such a turn of events, as a result of which they phallomorphized into the Orthodox. And they didn’t find anything better than to quietly reset the Japanese counter. But Anonymous didn’t give a fuck, and voting for Daniel continued with a vengeance, as a result of which he again became the leader. The counter was reset again. Then again and again...

The entire Orthodox people could no longer hide such a piece of shit in a bag, and the hatred of the bitards grew every hour. The thread about the patriarch was bumped several times. The holy Japanese took 666-get several times. According to unconfirmed reports, priests wrote to Dvacha, trying to convince the bitards that they were pathetic sinners and that a terrible judgment, hell and destruction awaited them.

Bloggers elected Metropolitan of Japan to the Patriarchs of All Rus'

The online referendum “For the Patriarch” turned into a scandal, giving the laity the opportunity to vote for the most worthy candidate for Patriarch of All Rus'. The creators of the resource Zapatriarha.ru, guided by the Charter of the Russian Orthodox Church, which states that “a candidate for Patriarch must enjoy a good reputation and trust of the hierarchs, clergy and people” and “have a good testimony from outsiders,” invited all Orthodox Christians to answer one question: “Who, in your opinion, today is more worthy than others to become the Patriarch of All Rus'?” According to the Internet community, the best reputation of the 178 metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church is none other than Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan. A few hours after the voting began, he took first place in the list of leaders, overtaking the favorite, Metropolitan Kirill, in the number of votes. This state of affairs did not suit the creators of the resource: they reset the results, removing the opinions of more than one and a half thousand people. This attitude towards popular opinion outraged bloggers. By the way, after this Daniil again soared to first place, and the results were deleted again. After that, Daniil’s candidacy was added as “the target of a hacker attack aimed at creating an artificial rating.” But even with this postscript, the Metropolitan of Tokyo currently occupies second place in the ranking.

“Everyone voted realistically, and rubbing votes is cowardice and unprofessionalism.” If we could joke about this topic, people would be happy for the Russian Orthodox Church. Churchmen dream of becoming officials, feeling that they do not yet measure up, and imitate them in working with information, says mnog.

According to vnimanie_rpc, the creators of the resource should have foreseen in advance that an attack could be made on the resource in order to cheat votes. “It’s strange, but the organizers of the project were completely unprepared for such an attack. As it turns out, there was simply no need to prepare - no one “there” was ashamed to solve the problem using the most disgusting method. After the Metropolitan of Tokyo took first place in the ranking, voting was neither suspended nor canceled - not at all! Instead, the organizers began to “cut” the number of votes. That is, users who purposefully voted were, roughly speaking, sent to hell. The candidates at the top of the list, naturally, were not harmed, he writes in his blog.

Some Internet users called the actions of the moderators a real manifestation of racism, others created communities on LiveJournal in which they called for a massive vote for Metropolitan Daniel. As a result, by the morning of January 14, 46.9% of people (3856) had already cast their votes for him, while only 17.5% of respondents (1439 people) voted for the member of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad. Under the slogan “Sensei to Patriarchs!” a good portion of the resource’s visitors continued to vote for the Metropolitan of Japan, “decorating” the zapatriarha.ru resource with comments such as “No beard and smiling... well, of course, he’s the same!”, “Patriarch-san! I’m for it!”, “We’ll give you sushi according to the Russian Orthodox Church!!!” and “Japan is the mother of patriarchs!”

While some users were already translating the Lord's Prayer into Japanese, others were disapproving of the hooliganism carried out on the “elective” resource.

    — Personally, I quite consciously voted for Daniil. Think for yourself, how can you compare? A man who spreads faith in a country where this faith has never existed, with a man who, under the guise of faith, was engaged in the trade of alcohol and tobacco? The heart of any Orthodox person will clearly be on Daniel’s side, and his mind too, writes kat_art_sys.

Panchul also agrees with him: “I personally know the parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tokyo (I met them in the Orthodox Church in Sunnyvale, California, as well as in Palo Alto and San Francisco) and I am ready to confirm that they are worthy people. I also believe that Metropolitan Daniil of Tokyo and all Japan is undoubtedly a better candidate as the spiritual leader of Russia than Kirill, who worked with the KGB.

According to smiling-loki, the reasonable idea to find out the people's opinion has turned into a real farce. “You will, of course, excuse me, I am sure that, most likely, all these people are wonderful priests and venerable elders.” But for some reason, from a rather important and reasonable idea, like the Local Council, they managed to make a cross between a robot football championship and elections to the Central Committee of United Russia. In general, on the one hand, it is inappropriate for the laity, especially those far from the church (I’m talking about myself), to judge, and even more so to choose the leader of the Russian Orthodox. On the other hand, no matter how pretentious it may sound, I would like for a truly charismatic and positive person to become the religious leader of our country at the beginning of the 21st century,” he writes.

But goldstilet saw the machinations of sectarians in what was happening: - On January 10, an attack by sectarians began on the site for the election of the Orthodox Patriarch of All Rus'. With the help of so-called “robots” the votes of different candidates are inflated. In addition to artificial promotion, blogs create the appearance of a flash mob. It is possible, of course, that some Internet users have succumbed to the tricks of scammers. The sectarians chose Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan as their first target.

    — As I understand it, adherents of the “Party of Kirill” consider those who like the completely legitimate and recognized Metropolitan of Tokyo to be sectarians? – Kornev answers him. — I have not yet come across any information that he is the head of some sect or heresy. It seems to me that defiling a recognized bishop on the grounds that he “didn’t show his face” is an unforgivable sin for an Orthodox Christian. Isn't this racism?

amanei_lot is convinced that an ethnic Japanese can be the Patriarch of All Rus': “Nowhere in the sacred texts is it stated that the head of the Church should be a person of a certain nationality, not to mention the fact that the Russians declared themselves the new “God’s chosen people.” Any representative of the Orthodox clergy of the corresponding rank has equal rights to the patriarchal throne, whether he is a Malaysian or a Muscovite. This debate makes no sense. But the Kingdom of God knows no earthly boundaries.

In the opinion of uncle_muller, the election of Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan as Patriarch would show everyone the greatness of the Russian Orthodox Church. “Think how beautiful this haiku sounds: “The sun rises over Fuji. Sakura smells like Easter cakes. Easter…” he writes in his blog.

Such a frivolous attitude will only turn the church away from the network, Temko suggests. — The Russian Orthodox Church has taken a very progressive step. The organization of this poll and the site pleasantly surprised me. It's a shame that apparently this won't happen again. The Church is conservative (and that’s how it should be) and having seen the global network in all its “splendor”, it will no longer want to communicate with us in this way,” he regrets.

    [edit] January 13

On the morning of the wicked day, the month of January 2009, Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan was removed from the list of candidates. However, by the evening of January 13 (about 17:30 Moscow time), Daniil was returned, and he was again in the lead. The brothers and sisters in Christ rejoiced and continued voting without restraint! For vaistenu!

That same day, at 19:20 Moscow time, Daniil once again fiercely, furiously topped the hit parade. First place! Use it!

But evil did not sleep either. Towards evening, it was observed that the wicked voting moderators moved on to more subtle methods of struggle. Now they did not reset the counter, but maliciously approved for Daniel only comments from every school in the style of “Japanese Mom, we are with you,” in order to make his epic victory a laughing stock. No matter how many attempts Anonymous made to write something serious there, nothing came of it. Moreover, compromising comments addressed to other candidates, primarily Kirill, began to be redirected to Daniil. At 20:34, a link to Dvach appeared in the comments feed, violating Internet rules.

    [edit] January 14

Having suffered an epic defeat, the Russian Orthodox Church did not even think of giving up, but only moved on to more cunning and disgusting manipulations. So, on January 14, a little more than 11 pm Moscow time, next to Daniil’s name in the leader column, the canonical note “the target of a hacker attack aimed at creating an artificial rating”

    .

. It turns out that schoolchildren not only voted, but also moderated: “Sorry, you have already taken part in the vote,”

, and the message “Sorry, but you cannot take part in the vote” was given to those who admitted that they were not Orthodox.

Suddenly, around January 14, 2009, 12:40 Moscow time, Metropolitan Daniel’s rating, which threatened to reach more than 9000, was again artificially reset to zero, while the blasphemous mark next to his name remained (with the extra “s” removed from the word “artificial”, however f without the second doubling of this initial letter, required according to the Orthodox canons (corrected at 15:30)); leadership was again assigned to Kirill. This was done, obviously, in order to write a rosy press release about Kirill’s leadership “by a large margin.”

Suddenly, after two o'clock in the afternoon, the number of votes exceeded 9000! Deleted votes have been restored. It is recommended to continue voting for candidates other than Mitrokirill.

Having completely panicked and trying to somehow save the situation, unfortunate voting administrator Alexander Korsunov and his possible henchmen tried to troll in Dvacha and Lukomorye in order to create confusion in the ranks of the beatards and moderate their ardor. But for obvious reasons, it turned out so thick that even the most outdated detector could see it a kilometer away.

22:06, January 14, 2009 (MSK) — voting for Daniil is “out of competition.” Supporting votes are taken into account, but it does not have a place in the ranking. We can say that he became a celestial being. He rose above the rating and Kirill, leaving him to solve his worldly problems.

    [edit] January 15

This is who personally increased hundreds of ratings.
To avoid hacker attacks, admins introduced a captcha, which, according to their idea, was supposed to stop stubborn, stubborn voters. Avothuy. In response to Daniel’s fencing, the anonymous user called for voting for Metropolitan Plato of Argentina (Kirill’s main competitor). Meanwhile, RuNet Orthodox Christians, attracted by the media drama, began voting more actively for Mitrokirill, but this only added to the fury of voting for Plato. However, most likely, he, too, would have become a “target of a hacker attack” and would have been removed from the list, because Orthodox Internet people cannot vote for a candidate disliked by the Synod.

Meanwhile, the Alexandra Korsunovs responded to the “hacker attack” of the dvachers with their own - in one day Mitrokirill SUDDENLY gained about 10,000 votes, and almost all of them, with God’s help, in a four-hour period between five and nine in the evening (see rating table; alas, in At that time, the idea of regular monitoring of voting in order to expose the treachery of administrators was just beginning to come to hot heads, so it would no longer be possible to more accurately indicate the time of the attack and its result), which seemed to hint at the unnatural nature of the increase. Looking back, it becomes clear that this was the first of many episodes of programmatic vote cheating that would eventually lead to the famous events, but at first ideas were different, both about the mechanism of cheating and regarding its far-reaching consequences.

The next day, another fifteen hundred votes were added to Kirill’s counter (however, there is not enough data to say with certainty whether these votes were also manipulated programmatically), after which Shabbat descended on Earth, and with it a temporary lull on the voting front.

    [edit] January 17

RPTsFSB-MP strikes back! On this day, Dvach was cut out, as it turned out later - for good. All dvachers were recommended to pray, fast and listen to Radio Radonezh.

    [edit] January 18

18.01 23:34 Daniil SUDDENLY was returned to the list of candidates, having removed the note about the “object otake”. He immediately turned out to be the leader of the vote with 46%, compared to Kirill’s 32%. It is very likely that Odmenestration was given a hat from the Russian Orthodox Church. It's all strange.

    [edit] January 19

By evening, the Alexandra Korsunovs delighted the public

    :

Hacker attacks: explanations from the editors. Over the past few days, you have seen in front of the candidacy of Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan the inscription “the target of a hacker attack aimed at creating an artificial rating.” The fact is that on January 13, after the site administrator discovered an increased amount of traffic from different geolocations, WEB server logs were analyzed, from which it became clear that the attackers were using unauthorized cheating of voting ratings using fake HTTP requests.

Meanwhile, on the same date, parallel elections were organized on zapatriarha.org, where the authors offered to vote for the same candidates, only for money. There, Kirill became the leader, followed by Daniil, slightly behind him - for the sake of such a candidate, even the copper ones were not spared. After the vote, the entire prize fund, according to the authors, would go to the winner’s mittens (a well-known scam scheme with the appearance of competition).

On the same day, which was Monday, the “Orthodox hacker” returned to work and again began to cheat votes. In the afternoon (the exact data was still not taken), Mitrokirill’s counter gained another two thousand votes. This period is displayed between the 4,000 and 5,000 min marks.

    [edit] January 20

By lunchtime, the cart about hacker attacks was removed from the site. Very likely because Odmenestration was again given a hat from the Russian Orthodox Church.

    [edit] January 21

The Orthodox hacker continues to rampage. Another fifteen hundred votes have been added to the counter. However, this time his actions were monitored more carefully - according to the rating table (also for - from 6,500 minutes and above), one can clearly distinguish short periods in which the counter sharply increases by a hundred or more votes, interspersed with periods of calm.

    [edit] January 22

A certain alex32167 takes tracking of voting results to a new level - his program monitors counter readings at one-minute intervals. The graph compiled from his data clearly showed that periods of sharp growth in the counter began and ended almost instantly. This irrefutably proves that the bulk of the votes cast for Kirill were not the result of the efforts of any large group of supporters of the candidate (for in this case the graph would have been a more or less even line with slight chaotic fluctuations), but was twisted by a single person with use of software. This person was either admin Korsunov himself, or the same “Orthodox hacker”, to whom, in contrast to the machinations of anarchist flashmobbers, Korsunov was advised to close his eyes (the assumption was that the admin, who quickly reacted to the second, did not bother to notice in two weeks the first cannot be taken seriously).

...A polite attempt to point out this fact to those leaving comments in support of Kirill, of course, did not pass pre-moderation. Who would doubt that.

The irony is that if, instead of impulse increases two or three times a day, the script author had been smart enough to prescribe an increase in voices per minute (or better yet, at random intervals) lasting throughout the whole day, the result would have been the same, but it would be impossible to prove anything without access to the server. But the intelligence was not enough even for such an obvious step. Which irrefutably proves: the cheater is an idiot.

    [edit] January 23

So, it's done. From 13:30 to 14:09 non-resin time, in 40 minutes, Metropolitan Kirill’s counter collected the missing one and a half thousand votes at an average speed of more than 30 votes per minute and ascended above Metropolitan Daniel like a fire-breathing dove, finally confirming the victory of Christian values over decency and the expression of the people’s will. Let us praise the Lord, comrades. Banzai!

[edit] January 25. Teh Epic Drama

A message appeared on the voting website that voting would end at 12:00 the next day. At the same time, Anonymous manages to resist the cheating, and Kirill fails to break away from Daniil. The gap between Daniil and Kirill is even narrowing somewhat. Everything will be decided in the coming hours.

    [edit] Last fight

In the last hours of voting, the anon SUDDENLY fiercely, madly bites the bit and votes with unprecedented intensity. Alexander Korsunov seems to be sleeping.

Will the Internet be able to take revenge and win the vote, bringing the epic wines 12.01-14.01 to the end?

Anonymous was persistent: having taken the 30,000-get by Daniil at 11:16 Moscow time, he continued to persist. It would seem that hope for overtaking began to appear... But SUDDENLY the vote count for Kirill suddenly gained +1000 votes just under 10 minutes before the end of the election, reaching the unattainable mark of +31454. Strange and suspicious, even Captain Obvious understood that in the last 10 minutes of voting, Daniil’s gap of 300 votes was critical, and he simply could not catch up with Smolny in the remaining time. Of course, it was better to play it safe.

    [edit] Final rating table

The voting results were monitored from January 15, 2009 to January 25, 2009.

A new patriarch has been chosen. The winner of the vote was Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad. True, these elections cannot be considered legitimate, since they took place on the Internet, within the framework of the “For the Patriarch” project. Lenta.ru reports the end of voting on the website and notes that more than 76 thousand people took part in the online elections. In second place according to the voting results is Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan. He showed results comparable to Kirill.

Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan

Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan

Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan : “It is important that divine love reigns in a person’s heart”

    – Vladyka, you have been heading the Japanese Church for 4 years. Before this, you served as a priest for many years. How did your perception of Japanese Orthodoxy change after you became Metropolitan?

    – I clearly understood that the Japanese Orthodox Church is economically independent and that this imposes great responsibility on us. We have to pay a lot of attention to various administrative issues. Before this, after World War II, the Japanese Church was ruled by Orthodox bishops of Russian origin from America. However, thirty years ago the Japanese Orthodox Church gained independence. The initiator of this process was Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov). And after that, Japanese bishops successively became the heads of our Church. One of the main concerns was the task of economically ensuring church independence, so that the Church would be economically independent. Of course, at the moment we cannot say that the Japanese Church has countless treasures, but we have everything necessary for normal functioning, for full witness to Christ before the people of Japan. It seems to me that the economic condition is extremely important, without it the functioning of the Church is impossible, but it must necessarily be organically combined with spiritual growth, with an increase in the spiritual level of the believers of our Church.

    – In this sense, what are the main tasks facing the Japanese Church now?

    – As we all know, the Orthodox Church bases its doctrine on Holy Scripture, Holy Tradition and patristic teaching. We now have the New Testament completely translated into Japanese, and almost everything necessary for worship exists. This is a great merit of Saint Nicholas, Equal to the Apostles, the enlightener of Japan. His other merit is the translation of patristic works. We still face this challenge. We need to continue to translate and publish patristic teachings in Japanese. Moreover, you need to start with brief expressions, with the brief words of the holy fathers. And this is precisely the patristic treasure that can be found among the publications we publish. Of course, our Church is only at the very beginning of the process of presenting the patristic heritage to the Japanese believers.

    – We know that you love patristic literature and translate it yourself. Do Japanese Christians read the Holy Fathers?

    – Of course, the holy fathers are not “popular.” But I believe that publishing their creations is extremely important. I see one of my main tasks as follows: from all the treasures of the patristic heritage, choose the most accessible specifically for the Japanese, and present it to them in an understandable form. Many people tell me that the work they start brings great benefits. At least the holy fathers are read in Japanese.

    – The Optina elders did the same thing when they brought Greek originals, translated and published them in Russia...

    – When creating the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery, St. Theodosius took the charter for it from Greece, from the Athos monasteries. This is truly an Orthodox tradition. The Japanese ask: “What is Orthodoxy?” When they discover the patristic tradition, they see that this is what it is - Orthodoxy... By the way, who compiled the book “The Way of the Fathers” published by your monastery?

    – This is a book by a wonderful person – Sergei Iosifovich Fudel. He was the son of a priest and spent many years in prison. In my opinion, this is one of his best books. But for some reason it is not selling very well. It is very important for us that in you we found a person who loved this book so much. Do you also translate Saints Ignatius Brianchaninov and Theophan the Recluse?

    - Only partially. In Tokyo there was a young Japanese scholar, Alexei Potapov, who worked for the Church and translated several works by Ignatius Brianchaninov. They are now printed in Japanese. Previously, this name was not even known in Japan. But gradually these creations reach the thirsty desert of Japan.

Let the Japanese first at least learn the names of the holy fathers. Gradually, when the name of this or that saint becomes known, it will be possible to translate his main works, the most significant for spiritual life. And after that, a complete corpus of translations - say, for the library of a monastery, which we should soon create in Japan. Saint Ignatius wrote a lot. I now have a six-volume edition of his works. Of course, for one person, especially a foreigner, quickly reading these thick books is a lot of work, which takes a lot of time. Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov constantly had some bitter feeling in his heart about the imperfections that he observed in the world. And with his pen he tried to correct them.

    – Master Daniel, Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa, whom we love very much, in one of his films, “Shadow of the Warrior,” showed that the Japanese initially perceived Christianity as a hostile teaching. On the other hand, Saint Nicholas (Kasatkin), starting his activities in Japan, wrote a lot about what the Japanese were saying about the “villainous sect of Christians.” Has the Japanese attitude towards Orthodoxy changed now?

    – Unfortunately, many modern Japanese have never even heard of Orthodoxy. The first image that comes to mind when Japanese people think about Christianity is the Catholic Church. And the film directed by Akira Kurosawa, which you mentioned, shows the perception of Catholicism. In total, 1 million 400 thousand Christian believers are officially registered in Japan. There are few Orthodox among them. But everyone knows the Cathedral of the Resurrection “Nikorai-Do”, as the Japanese call it as a sign of respect for St. Nicholas.

(Translator’s note: Yesterday an interesting incident occurred. At the Danilovskaya hotel we met with Japanese people of non-Christian faith. When they were introduced to Vladyka as an Orthodox metropolitan, they did not react particularly. When they were told that Vladyka Daniil served in Nikorai-Do ", they immediately perked up and were delighted. If you simply say “Orthodox Church”, this does not evoke any associations. But if you use symbolic, let’s say, concepts that are related to Japanese history and culture, then people have a certain idea. Some perceive "Nikorai-Do" is only as a historical monument. But for others, this monument became the entrance to the Church: first as a historical building, and then as a temple of God.)

    – How many Orthodox believers are there in Japan?

    – We number about 30 thousand families. But some of the Orthodox are not officially registered. It is impossible to accurately count Orthodox Christians: some, having registered, do not go to church, while others do not register and go.

    – How is your relationship with the state?

    – The Japanese Constitution contains the principle of freedom of conscience, which is protected by relevant laws and the modern tradition of Japanese society. This principle has been preserved in Japanese law for more than a hundred years, since the revolution that occurred in 1867. Therefore, the state does not have the opportunity to interfere in the affairs of religious organizations.

    – Nowadays people are becoming more and more rationalistic and the path to faith is becoming more difficult. Is there any hope that there will be more Orthodox Christians in Japan and that the Orthodox Church will strengthen?

    - It's a difficult question. Of course, intelligence and education are very important. If you look at the history of Japan, you can see that in its national tradition there used to be such a concept - “spirit”. It was not the same as in Orthodoxy. Over the course of a hundred years, Japanese society, as well as throughout the world, has leaned toward rationalistic thinking. But it does not directly serve to save a person—with its help one cannot be saved from sin.

This century has given a lot of knowledge. But what are they for? How can they help the cause of soul salvation? When I was young, I really loved to engage in intellectual work. Now, having gone through most of my life, I have come to the conclusion that knowledge is not everything. It is of great importance for our lives, but it is not the most important thing. The most important thing is the spiritual state of a person’s soul and heart, which leads to salvation. It is important that Divine love reigns in a person’s heart.

Kirill overtook Daniil and took first place. Fail, of course. Did you expect something different?

The process described above once again demonstrated the corruption in the ranks of the Russian Orthodox Church and the “honesty” of the “elections” it conducts. “Tobacco Metropolitan” Kirill became Patriarch; The fight in the media also did not take place - voting for Samurai remained an amusing curiosity. Despite the protest, the smoking Russian Orthodox Church handed over patronage of the church and associated cash flows to Kirill on January 27, 2009. Let's cry.

He gained some popularity on the RuNet after he took first place in the online voting for the election of a new patriarch among the laity in January 2009, as a result of a flash mob, ahead of, among other things, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad. The site administration tried to rectify the situation by zeroing out the votes for Daniil

and excluding him from the list of candidates, explaining such a high rating as a hacker attack[1]. These actions aroused the indignation of voters and gave rise to suspicions and accusations against the voting organizers of creating a website solely for the purpose of PR for Metropolitan Kirill[2].

    [edit] Reaction

The well-known prepaid blogger Tarlit published in his fenced-in area an extremely satisfying post on the topic:

What is more interesting is that the appearance of the site and campaigning for one of the absolute outsiders SUDDENLY coincides with a number of actions by motorists in the Far East. I believe that the link Metropolitan of Tokyo (ethnic Japanese, note) - motorists of the Far East does not need to be explained and deciphered? If necessary, I’ll explain. Of Daniel, certain people want to make a kind of “DiomedeNE” (Nesoglasny Edition). To confirm this, I can say that according to the information I have, the IPs of those who voted for Daniil miraculously coincide with those who voted for Bakhmina, EVPOC. You may believe it, you may not, but the fact remains a fact.

Also, in the “Week” program, aired on the REN TV channel on January 31 and February 1, in the story about the elections of Kirill Tabachnik they did mention Internet voting, the kawaii candidate and in general, albeit in passing.

    Excerpt characterizing Daniel (Nushiro)

The French colonel had difficulty holding back a yawn, but was polite and, apparently, understood the full significance of Balashev. He led him past his soldiers by the chain and said that his desire to be presented to the emperor would probably be fulfilled immediately, since the imperial apartment, as far as he knew, was not far away. They drove through the village of Rykonty, past French hussar hitching posts, sentries and soldiers saluting their colonel and curiously examining the Russian uniform, and drove out to the other side of the village. According to the colonel, the division chief was two kilometers away, who would receive Balashev and see him off to his destination. The sun had already risen and shone cheerfully on the bright greenery. They had just left the tavern on the mountain when a group of horsemen appeared from under the mountain to meet them, in front of which, on a black horse with harness shining in the sun, rode a tall man in a hat with feathers and black hair curled to the shoulders, in a red robe and with with long legs stuck out forward, like the French ride. This man galloped towards Balashev, his feathers, stones and gold braid shining and fluttering in the bright June sun. Balashev was already two horses away from the horseman galloping towards him with a solemnly theatrical face in bracelets, feathers, necklaces and gold, when Yulner, the French colonel, respectfully whispered: “Le roi de Naples.” [King of Naples.] Indeed, it was Murat, now called the King of Naples. Although it was completely incomprehensible why he was the Neapolitan king, he was called that, and he himself was convinced of this and therefore had a more solemn and important appearance than before. He was so sure that he was really the Neapolitan king that, on the eve of his departure from Naples, while he was walking with his wife through the streets of Naples, several Italians shouted to him: “Viva il re!” [Long live the king! (Italian) ] he turned to his wife with a sad smile and said: “Les malheureux, ils ne savent pas que je les quitte demain! [Unfortunate people, they do not know that I am leaving them tomorrow!] But despite the fact that he firmly believed that he was the Neapolitan king, and that he regretted the sorrow of his subjects leaving him, recently, after he was ordered to enter the service again, and especially after a meeting with Napoleon in Danzig, when the august brother-in-law told him: “Je vous ai fait Roi pour regner a maniere, mais pas a la votre,” [I made you king in order to to reign not in his own way, but in mine.] - he cheerfully set about a task familiar to him and, like a well-fed, but not fat, horse fit for service, sensing himself in the harness, began to play in the shafts and, having discharged himself as colorfully and expensively as possible, cheerful and happy, he galloped, without knowing where or why, along the roads of Poland. Seeing the Russian general, he royally and solemnly threw back his head with shoulder-length curled hair and looked questioningly at the French colonel. The Colonel respectfully conveyed to His Majesty the significance of Balashev, whose surname he could not pronounce. - De Bal macheve! - said the king (with his decisiveness overcoming the difficulty presented to the colonel), - charme de faire votre connaissance, general, [it’s very nice to meet you, general] - he added with a royally gracious gesture. As soon as the king began to speak loudly and quickly, all royal dignity instantly left him, and he, without noticing it, switched to his characteristic tone of good-natured familiarity. He put his hand on the withers of Balashev's horse. “Eh, bien, general, tout est a la guerre, a ce qu'il parait, [Well, general, things seem to be heading towards war," he said, as if regretting a circumstance about which he did not could judge. “Sire,” answered Balashev. “l'Empereur mon maitre ne desire point la guerre, et comme Votre Majeste le voit,” said Balashev, using Votre Majeste in all cases, [The Russian Emperor does not desire her, as your Majesty is pleased to see... your Majesty.] with inevitable the affectation of increasing the frequency of the title, addressing a person for whom this title is still news. Murat's face shone with stupid contentment as he listened to Monsieur de Balachoff. But royaute oblige: [the royal rank has its responsibilities:] he felt the need to talk with Alexander's envoy about state affairs, as a king and an ally. He got off his horse and, taking Balashev by the arm and moving a few steps away from the respectfully waiting retinue, began walking with him back and forth, trying to speak significantly. He mentioned that Emperor Napoleon was offended by the demands for the withdrawal of troops from Prussia, especially now that this demand had become known to everyone and when the dignity of France was insulted. Balashev said that there was nothing offensive in this demand, because... Murat interrupted him: “So you don’t think Emperor Alexander was the instigator?” - he said unexpectedly with a good-naturedly stupid smile. Balashev said why he really believed that Napoleon was the start of the war. “Eh, mon cher general,” Murat interrupted him again, “je desire de tout mon c?ur que les Empereurs s'arrangent entre eux, et que la guerre commencee malgre moi se termine le plutot possible, [Ah, dear general, I wish with all my heart that the emperors put an end to the matter between themselves and that the war, started against my will, ends as soon as possible.] - he said in the tone of the conversation of servants who want to remain good friends, despite the quarrel between the masters. And he moved on to questions about the Grand Duke, about his health and about the memories of the fun and amusing time spent with him in Naples. Then, as if suddenly remembering his royal dignity, Murat solemnly straightened up, took the same position in which he stood at the coronation, and, waving his right hand, said: “Je ne vous retiens plus, general; je souhaite le succes de vorte mission, [I will not detain you any longer, General; I wish success to your embassy] - and, fluttering with a red embroidered robe and feathers and glittering with jewelry, he went to the retinue, respectfully waiting for him. Balashev went further, according to Murat, expecting to be introduced to Napoleon himself very soon. But instead of a quick meeting with Napoleon, the sentries of Davout's infantry corps again detained him at the next village, as in the advanced chain, and the adjutant of the corps commander was summoned and escorted him to the village to see Marshal Davout.
