The text of the prayer is quite large and it will be very difficult to learn by heart, but anyone can do it. It can be easily found in any, even the thinnest prayer book, or on the Internet: save it to your phone or computer and then print it out.
Initially, there were a great many texts of prayers, different from each other, thanks to various Baptist teachings (apostolic, evangelical, etc.). They were not mandatory rules for ministries and were considered secondary, in contrast to the Bible, which was recognized as the single authoritative Word of the Lord God. They were transmitted exclusively orally, like the Vedas. Later they were translated for the ancient Slavs and recorded a single Christian prayer, which became impossible to change. The “Creed” began to be used in the Orthodox Church without fail.
In modern Russian
It will be much easier to learn this psalm in modern Russian. You can turn to your family and friends for help who visit the Temple of God and know its interpretation, but it is best to go there in person and discuss everything with the clergy.

In Old Church Slavonic
In Old Church Slavonic, the pronunciation is almost the same as in Church Slavonic. This option contains some special atmosphere and energy. You can print it on a piece of paper, put it next to icons, in your car, or carry it with you as a talisman.
In Chuvash
In the Chuvash Republic, the majority of citizens, although they speak Russian perfectly, prefer to communicate in their native dialect. The old residents of the republic and the population of villages do not need the Russian language at all. Accordingly, for the service there is a translation of the psalm into Chuvash.

Prayer “I Believe in One God” - differences between prayer in Russian and Church Slavonic
For many people, understanding texts in Church Slavonic is difficult. Therefore, there are several translations of the text of the prayer “I Believe in One God” into Russian. They undoubtedly make the text easier to perceive, but do not convey depth and even reduce the fullness of awareness of the meaning of the prayer.
The Church Slavonic language is inimitable, unique, and poetic. For many words there are no synonyms, or even analogues in modern Russian, so many constructions in translation convey the meaning of the phrase approximately. But since the Russian language borrowed a lot from the Church Slavonic language, many words are understandable without translation - incarnate, life-giving, verb, tea, confession. For comparison, we present the text of the prayer “I Believe in One God” in Church Slavonic.
Significance and Interpretation
In Orthodoxy, the “Symbol of Faith” dates back thousands of years to the times of the apostles and will always be significant. This is the first appeal, not directed to any saint or Creator, but a story highlighting the main provisions of the religion: what every Orthodox Christian believes in and expects. It is of great importance for the church.
It is often confused with the prayer of St. George the Victorious “I Believe, Lord,” aimed at protection from enemies, evil people, illnesses and adversities.
The prayer service is of particular importance during the sacrament of baptism. These are the first sacred words with which a child begins to live under the wing of his guardian angel. It begins with the word “I believe,” which confirms the acceptance of religion, and consists of 12 members (sentences), each of which has its own meaning. - 1. We believe in God the Father, the Creator of everything living and nonliving on earth and in heaven: everything that can be seen with the eyes and cannot be seen, that everything in the universe was created by Him.
- 2-7. We believe in Jesus Christ, the only son of God, first born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, having human form and being a continuation of the Lord. Sent by the Father for our salvation. Crucified on the cross, suffering and buried. That on the third day after burial, Jesus resurrected and was taken up to the Creator and remained with him in heaven.
- 8. We believe in the Holy Spirit, through whom the Lord gave life and spoke to the prophets.
- 9. To the holiness of the church as the house of God.
- 10. A person’s desire to accept the Lord into his heart through the rite of Baptism, thereby beginning spiritual life, so that after death God would grant eternal life in Paradise.
- 11-12. We believe in the resurrection of the dead at the second coming of Christ and that there will be a great judgment at which it will be decided whose soul will go to heaven or hell. And a new eternal life will come.
What does the Ecumenical Council mean?
The Ecumenical Council is a meeting of pastors and teachers of the Christian Catholic Church from all over the Universe, where the main body of teaching and discipline among Christians was approved.
Jesus Christ instructed his disciples to bring the Truth to all nations. To prevent the Truth from being distorted during its transmission, the Lord’s teachings were presented in a concise and understandable form. This is how Christianity received the fundamental prayer “I Believe.”
History also says that the Council rejected everything that was not true Christianity, and the truth accepted by the church fathers became the basis that declared that the birth of the Son of God came from God the Father.
The Second Council of Constantinople proclaimed the concept that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one. The truth and immutability of the foundations of Christianity were irrevocably established at the Council in the city of Ephesus.
These are historical events that show that the origin of this prayer is not accidental. It reflects not only the main milestones of the earthly journey of Jesus Christ, but the meaning of his appearance to people.

Orthodox people believe that through confession and communion all earthly sins are forgiven and God's mercy is granted. But only after baptism does a person have the right to enter the temple and ask for grace. If you decide to undergo the sacrament of baptism yourself or to bring your children closer to God, you need to know a few basic points and understand that this is a serious spiritual action that should be approached with maximum responsibility.
The sacrament should be performed no earlier than 40 days after the birth of the child. If the child is weak or sick, you can contact the priest with a request to baptize the child earlier. The right to choose the place for the ceremony remains exclusively with you. You can contact the nearest church or one that you like in terms of energy and location.
The choice of godparents must be careful.
- They can be both friends and relatives.
