Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God
Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Molchenskaya”
Icon from the Molchensk Sophronium Hermitage, Kursk province, near the city of Putivl (now Sumy diocese). It was brought to these places from Kyiv, devastated by the Tatars, by monks leaving the city. When the monks died, they were buried in a cave they had built in Chudnaya Gora, near the Molchensky swamp. Soon the ascetics were forgotten, and these places were overgrown with forest. On September 18, 1405, a beekeeper, looking for hives of wild bees in the forest, saw an image of the Virgin Mary on a tree, surrounded by radiance, and heard the words: “May the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary be built in this place.” The beekeeper hurried to Putivl. The clergy and many people immediately went to the indicated place, and everyone saw the icon emitting a wondrous light. Many here received healing from long-standing illnesses. Subsequently, the Molchensky Nativity of the Mother of God Pechersky Monastery was built on this site. It was named Pechersky from the numerous caves that were in the area. The monastery was repeatedly ravaged during the invasion of the Tatars and during the Time of Troubles. During the Time of Troubles, the abbot and his brethren, together with the miraculous Molchensky icon, were forced to leave the ruined monastery and move to Putivl, where the large Molchensky Pechersky Monastery was built. During one of the fires, the miraculous icon disappeared.
Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Molchenskaya”
In 1653, the thoroughly neglected Mother of God Monastery of the Nativity was restored through the efforts of a certain builder Sophrony, which is why the monastery received another name - Sophrony. An exact list of the miraculous Molchenskaya icon was installed in the monastery. During the years of Soviet power, the monastery was destroyed and the icon was lost. In the nineties of the twentieth century, the Molchensky Pechersky and Molchensky Mother of God and Nativity of Sophronius monasteries were restored. In 1997, the monastery of the city of Putivl received the status of a convent. After the resumption of monastic services, a miraculous image was also found. It turned out that the icon was hidden by local residents to save it from desecration. When carefully reading the description of the miraculous Molchenskaya Icon of the Mother of God, one can notice some discrepancy between the description and its external appearance. The description says that the Mother of God is holding the Baby in her right hand, a ladder in her left, and a praying man is standing in front of the Mother of God. But on most icons the Infant of God is supported by the left hand, the ladder of the Mother of God is in the right hand, and the praying person is either placed on the side or is not depicted at all. Thus, sometimes the Molchensk Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos differs little from the Putivl Icon (see Putivl Icon of the Mother of God - May 15). There is also a miraculous copy of the Molchensk Icon, revealed in the village of Businovo near Moscow. Currently, this icon is in the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Businov.

Molchenskaya: miracles
But let's return to our story... So, freed from Polish captivity, Tomila Lugovskoy went to where, according to his dream, the icon was supposed to be. There he actually found her. He brought it to Ugodichi and gave it to the Epiphany Church. There its miraculous properties were fully demonstrated: those praying in front of the image received healing from various diseases, including typhus, which was then rampant everywhere. They say that the entire icon was hung with jewelry - they were brought as a sign of gratitude for the recovery. In front of the icon case itself, a lamp glowed around the clock, and candles were always burning in a multi-tiered candlestick.
However, over time, the trace of the icon was lost again. Some say that after the revolution it was kept in Yaroslavl, others say that it was in the closet of one of the believers, at the very bottom, wrapped in old things, away from prying eyes. After all, those who kept icons at home were in real danger in the post-revolutionary years - they could easily come under suspicion and be accused of anti-Soviet propaganda.
What can you do today June 24th
You can and should:
1. Ask for protection from envious and evil people.
2. Repent of sins and ask for forgiveness for all the bad things you have done in life.
You can also ask the icon for help in any righteous deeds. Most often, in front of the sacred image of the Mother of God, they pray for forgiveness of the most terrible sins, trusting in the great mercy of the Virgin Mary.
People also turn to the miraculous image of the Mother of God for help in family matters - to find love and get married, to improve relationships between spouses and to soften the hearts of loved ones.
History of origin and acquisition
When Kyiv was ravaged by the Tatars, the icon was brought to the deserts of the Kursk province by monks who saved the image from ill-wishers. When the monks died, their bodies were buried in a cave near Wonderful Mountain, which was located near the Molchansky swamp. Afterwards, these places were overgrown with grass and bushes.
Molchenskaya Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On September 18, 1405, one beekeeper, who was searching for hives of wild bees, discovered the miraculous face of the Virgin Mary on a tree. According to legend, the image emitted an incredible light, and the beekeeper also heard the words: “May the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary be built in this place.” Hearing this, he hurried to Putivl and told about what he saw in the forest. Following the beekeeper, representatives of the clergy and ordinary people hurried to the place of the apparition.
Arriving at the place, people saw the Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God, which emitted light, and many of those who arrived experienced relief and were cured of their illnesses.
Subsequently, a decision was made to build a monastery on this site. The monastery was named Pechersk due to the fact that it was surrounded by a large number of caves. Afterwards, the monastery was repeatedly attacked by the Tatars and was ravaged during the Time of Troubles.
Numerous Tatar raids and devastation led to the fact that during the Time of Troubles, the abbot of the monastery and his brethren left the devastated monastery and moved to Putivl, where the large Molchensky Pechersky Monastery was built. But during one of the fires, the icon of the Mother of God disappeared.
The situation changed in 1653: the badly neglected and ruined monastery, which was abandoned by the abbot, was restored through the efforts of one builder named Safina. As a result of this, the name of the monastery changed.
The icon managed to survive the difficult times of Soviet power; the image was kept by local residents who were silent about their secret for many years. After restoration, the icon was returned to the monastery, but this did not happen immediately. During the years of Soviet power, the monastery was destroyed, and the icon was considered lost.
After the collapse of the Union, it was decided to restore the monastery, this happened only in 1997, then the icon returned, it was brought by local residents who kept the image for many years, protecting it from ill-wishers. Around this time, the monastery received the status of a nunnery. Now the image is kept in the monastery. Despite all the difficulties that they had to endure, today believers can venerate the miraculous image of the Mother of God.
They say that the image also helps those who are about to go to another world; according to legend, the Mother of God is especially favorable to such people. She is also favorable to those patients who have nervous or mental disorders.
People believe that the image can heal a large number of ailments. The icon is considered one of the most powerful; it favors women and babies. Not only images have power, but also casts from the image. For many centuries, people have been going to the monastery to venerate the icon and ask it for healing.
There are three main versions of the acquisition of the icon; they are different, but nevertheless worthy of attention.
In the 1960s, Father George became the rector of the Transfiguration Cathedral; he was interested in the issue of finding a shrine that had disappeared. But neither the church ministers nor the residents, who knew nothing about the image, could help Father George.
The abbot often turned to the Mother of God with prayers and asked her for one thing: to show him her miraculous face.
Father George's prayers were heard, and in 1965 a woman who had recently become a widow turned to him. She told the abbot that her husband, before his death, had made a will in the name of Father George. The deceased bequeathed an icon; upon careful examination, the abbot realized that not one image, but two fell into his hands.
This is how not only the Vladimir Mother of God was found, but also the Molchensk Icon.
According to another version, Archimandrite German, who was the rector of the Sophronievo-Molchensk Hermitage, prayed so earnestly and asked to show his face that in response to prayers he received a revelation. As a result, the icon was found in a family of Tatars who knew nothing about the image and did not believe in God; they used the image of the Mother of God to grind chalk.
Alexander Artynov, a historian and local historian, reports that while collecting information for writing a book, Count Mikhail Tolstoy traveled around Russia. He studied one of the icons that was in Rostov and, based on the nature of the writing and other features, determined that this was the same lost icon from Putivl. This means that the disappeared image was kept all this time in the Epiphany Church.
All three versions of the discovery can be considered plausible, since no one can say for sure what exactly happened to the icon and where it was.
From Ugodichey to Putivl
One way or another, 10 years ago the Molchensk Icon was returned to the temple. Eyewitnesses say that on the day of the first prayer service in honor of the miraculous image of the Mother of God, dark clouds covered the entire sky. But as soon as the service began, they suddenly dispersed and the dazzling sun came out. And then... three bright luminous points suddenly appeared in the sky. But the miracles did not end there. When the procession began, a hedgehog ran up to the icon. They say that he was not afraid of voices, or singing, or people in general. He ran after the procession all the way, not wanting to curl up into a prickly ball even when the children became interested in him.
And then it was decided to send the icon to Ukraine - back to Putivl, where it first appeared. The list remained in the temple - no less beloved and miraculous than the prototype.

Thursday, October 01, 2009 14:26 + to quote book This icon appeared on September 18, 1405 in the Molche swamp near Putivl.
Initially it was located in the Molchensk Sophronium Hermitage of the Kursk dioceses, and in 1605 on April 24 it was moved to the Putivl Monastery. Its original location was a cave in Chudnaya Gora near the Molchensky swamp near the city of Putivl. It was brought there from Kyiv, devastated by the Tatars, by monks leaving the city. In 1405, the image of the Virgin Mary on a tree, surrounded by radiance, was revealed to a certain person who also heard the words: “May the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary be built in this place.” Subsequently, the Molchensky Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery, or Sofroniev Hermitage, was built on this site. During the Time of Troubles it was destroyed, and a new large Molchensky Monastery was founded in Putivl. During a fire in the monastery, the icon disappeared. The list from it was brought to the revived Sofroniev Hermitage in 1635 by the Sumy ataman Lukian Konstantinov. The icon was placed in the cathedral above the royal doors, and when akathists were sung, it was lowered on silk cords for kissing. The Sophronie Hermitage now stands in ruins. The Molchensk icon has disappeared and its whereabouts are unknown. The Mother of God is depicted on this miraculous icon with the Eternal Child. At the right hand of the Mother of God a ladder is depicted, this is a symbol of the fact that She, having given birth to Jesus Christ, who reconciled God with humanity, thus united the earthly with the heavenly. The Queen of Heaven shows special mercy to all those who depart into eternal life. Description of the icon of the Mother of God “Molchenskaya”.
Celebration: April 24, old style / May 7, new style, September 18, old style / October 1, new style and on Tuesday of Bright Week.
Icon from the Molchensk Sophronium Hermitage, Kursk province, near the city of Putivl (now Sumy diocese). Today the glorious city of Moscow is shining brightly and in Putivl there is great rejoicing, as they honor the Mother of God, your wondrous icon, giving everyone the honey of grace.
Kontakion, tone 6.
Let us come, people, to our Lady, the Virgin Mother of God, for she gave us Her Molchenskaya icon, flowing currents of healing, giving all kinds of help in mental and physical ailments and leading to eternal life.
Greatness.
We magnify Thee, Most Holy Virgin, and honor Thy holy image, through which we heal our illnesses and raise souls to God.
Akathist to the Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God.
Kontakion 1 To the Virgin Most Pure Mother of God, chosen from all generations, let us offer this small song of praise to the faithful, before the honest icon revealed by Her, the land of Putivl, which has a source of healing, cries out with grateful faith: Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Silence with joy and affirmation. Ikos 1 Angels preceded the Most Holy One, when you deigned to enter the Holy of Holies, angelic powers stood before the face of the Most Pure One, when Her icon appeared near the Molchensky blat to the reverent beekeeper, who heard the mysterious voice: “Let the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos be built in this place,” returning to the city of Putivl , blatantly this: Rejoice, good fulfillment of the counsel of the Holy Trinity; Rejoice, most luminous Ray, to the human race. Rejoice, sweetest delight, to the weary souls; Rejoice, Love of Christ, joy to the desperate. Rejoice, much-valued incense, fragrant with Christ; Rejoice, animated Temple, built by God. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 2 The great providence of God appeared when the monks of the Kiev-Pecherstia founded a monastery on Molche, which was named after the Sofronievs. And such was the blessing of the monks Anthony and Theodosius to the city of Putiv, who cried out to God the song: Alleluia. Ikos 2 The light of Hosea revealed the icon, when by God’s providence it appeared miraculously on the tree. Flowing with this faith, healing from mental and physical ailments is found, singing in gratitude to the Mother of God as follows: Rejoice, merciful healer of spiritual wounds; Rejoice, calm haven, in the midst of vain thoughts. Rejoice, spacious refuge for those who are cold from demons; Rejoice, the strong one has taken away the true virginity. Rejoice, Chamber of Salvation, who received the Lord in the flesh; Rejoice, chaste Branch, prospered by Christ. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 3 Whenever people saw miracles flowing abundantly from the revealed Icon of Molchensk, then soon creating a church in the name of the Most Pure One, you cried out to God: Alleluia. Ikos 3 Like the God-bearing star, the monks brought into silence the blessing of Abbot Paphnutius, the icon revealed to the monastery of Putivl, for the sake of the destruction of the Agarians, singing to the Mother of God like this: Rejoice, Permission of obedience, Eve of disobedience; Rejoice, eternal trampling upon the death of Adam. Rejoice, Immaculate Bed, Divine Incarnation; Rejoice, Captured by the Holy Spirit by Your own will. Rejoice, O co-reign with Your Son, Christ our God; Rejoice, precious Stone, in the chambers of the Consubstantial Trinity. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 4 The bridge to heaven truly appeared the Molchenskaya icon: many people flowing to her intercession and seeing the signs of the Lord’s mercy flowing from her, I found repentance and became an endless partaker of life, singing to God: Alleluia. Ikos 4 The Virgin is rejoicing in heaven today, kissing the icon with Her love in vain. For this reason, the Most Pure Great Mercy generously bestows upon those who honor and cry out with faith: Rejoice, Royal Anointing of human nature; Rejoice, Windy Wing, Through the Cloud Christ has come. Rejoice, Mouth of the Apostle, enlightening all the ends of the universe; Rejoice, O vessel chosen and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Rejoice, most immaculate Friend of the Beginning Word of God; Rejoice, shining Moon, coming in the wake of the Sun of Truth. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 5 Sometimes the foreigners who came with Demetrius the Pretender to the monastery of Molchensk gathered thistles and thorns and plotted against the Russian land and were not ashamed of the icons that were revealed. For this sake, God destroy the council of the wicked, through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, and to Him we cry: Alleluia. Ikos 5 The great glory of the Molchensk icon has spread to all the ends of the Russian earth. For this reason, the Orthodox autocrats Theodore and John, Alexy and Sophia, and Peter the Great established the Molchensk monastery in prosperity, gratefully crying out to the Mother of God like this: Rejoice, strong intercession for pious people; Rejoice, speedy destruction of the evil deeds of foreigners. Rejoice, Instruction from above, Orthodox Tsar; Rejoice, Bringing down demonic pride. Rejoice, you who blessed your people with the peace of God; Rejoice, for you have revealed God the Lord into the world. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 6 Mercy arose by You, Lady, when with Your icon you delivered the city of Putivl and the surrounding villages from a deadly plague, instructing the faithful to always resort to Your intercession in troubles and illnesses, crying out to God: Alleluia. Ikos 6 The angelic forces in heaven continually praise Thee, the Queen: for you stand at the throne of God, adorned with a heavenly crown, begging Your Son for the salvation of our souls. In the same way, worshiping the icon that appears with fear, we call You, the Immaculate One, with the following names: Rejoice, animated Tablet of the commandments of God; Rejoice, O Throne of the Lamb, before Him are angels. Rejoice, Thou shrine of holiness, overshadowed by the Spirit; Rejoice, Law of Grace, written by the finger of the Creator. Rejoice, Terrorizer of sinners and wounding of demons; Rejoice, Rejoicing of the martyrs, and adornment of the Church. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 7 The vain rhetoricians are perplexed: how can the Most Pure One, with Her revealed icon, give to the faithful everything they ask for? We, who are taught by Divine Tradition, that honor given to an icon ascends to the Prototype. For this reason, leading according to Scripture, like the faithful shadow of Peter, we honor Your revealed Face, crying out to God: Alleluia. Ikos 7 How can we honor the miraculous icon of Molchenskaya, whose most pure grace bestowed grace upon His people? What shall we call this source of healing in the land of Putivste? The tongue is speechless to sing heavenly words with earthly words. In addition, we celebrate the acquisition of a revered image; we dare to cry out to the Mother of God as follows: Rejoice, Mystical Mountain, above worldly thoughts; Rejoice, Appeal of the exiled, righteousness for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Rejoice, mental ladder, from which people’s sorrows ascend; Rejoice, God-bright Lamp, from Him the Son rose. Rejoice, God-bearing Field, on Neizha the Tree of Life will grow; Rejoice, Blessing of Christ, to the new priesthood. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 8 An inexhaustible source of grace appeared to the venerated image of the Mother of God of Molchenskaya, from the presbyter of Putivl for many years preserved for the godless sake, who again mercilessly destroyed the monastery of Molchenskaya. Now the new martyrs of the land of Russia and the confessors of the monastery of Molchensk, in remembrance, with tenderness, the monks kiss this icon, crying out to God: Alleluia. Ikos 8 Oh, new celebration! Oh, bright festival: behold, having gathered for the second discovery of the venerable image, the bishops and priests, monks and prostitutes, who with singing carried the icon revealed from the Cathedral Church of Putivl to the Molchenskaya monastery, cried out to the Mother of God like this: Rejoice, Fleece of David, on him the Glory of the Father has descended; Rejoice, O Golden One, from whom Christ came. Rejoice, for by You the darkness of idols has been driven out of the universe; Rejoice, for by You the Light of Reason has risen to the faithful. Rejoice, most honorable Voevodo of cherubim and seraphim; Rejoice, having surpassed Elijah in Your ascension to heaven. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 9 Proclaimer, people, to the Bride of God, the Lady: For the true Mother of the incarnate Son of God appeared: behold, inexpressibly in Her bosom, like in a heavenly furnace, the two natures of Christ were united inseparably and inseparably, from Him the Church was soldered into eternal life with a new drink , cries out to God: Alleluia. Ikos 9 Truly, the monastery of Molchensk is a saving one, possessing the icon revealed by Your intercession, O Theotokos. In it, the foreigners, having left the vain world, labored for the Kingdom for the sake of Christ through the feat of faith, fasting and prayer, and always bring praise to the Immaculate. With them, we also cry out to the Mother of God like this: Rejoice, O Key of Christ, Who has opened the gates of Paradise; Rejoice, Holy Crown, Trinity of One Essence. Rejoice, Morning Star, Who gave birth to the Never-Evening Light; Rejoice, warm Lampado, shining in the darkness of this world. Rejoice, Rule of Faith, instructing in piety; Rejoice, wonderful Mother Superior, of the heavenly host. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 10 Thee, the Most Holy Virgin, is sung by the patriarchs and prophets, martyrs and unmercenaries, priests and Beltsy. If it weren’t for You, Lady, would you have avoided so many troubles? How many more tears have people shed in their grief? Having gone away, the human race pleases You, singing a song to God: Alleluia. Ikos 10 Secretly there is the Nativity of Your Virgin, from the barren Joachim and Anna. The secret appearance of Your Face on a tree near the Molchensky blat. There, barren childbearers become pregnant, and here deserted souls are prepared for spiritual fruitfulness, whose name is Ti: Rejoice, new Eve, who gave birth to a new Adam; Rejoice, River of grace flowing in the Paradise of God. Rejoice, Silence of the confused and Refuge of the overwhelmed; Rejoice, Dew of God, watering the deserts of the soul. Rejoice, Vigilant Intercessor of those seeking salvation; Rejoice, indestructible fence, Orthodox Church. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 11 Oh, Divine condescension! Oh, the miracle of God's love! God made His servant the Matter of Light, and about Her the Holy Spirit says: “Beauty and rejoice, Daughter of Zion, for I am coming to You.” In the same faith, worshiping the image of Your Face, Most Pure One, we all cry out a song to God: Alleluia. Ikos 11 The Lord, the Most Pure One, established a new arc for Thee: for the merciful Mother in heaven and on earth appeared Most Immaculate through the incarnation of the Son of God. For this reason, singing the incarnation of Christ our God, we cry out to the Mother of God as follows: Rejoice, true Olivet, from Her Christ ascended; Rejoice, golden-shaped garment, woven from the Spirit. Rejoice, unfaithful Intercessor, before the Righteous Judge; Rejoice, bright Hope, eternal resurrection. Rejoice, life-giving Dugo, Words incarnate; Rejoice, New Guardian of the World, Inexhaustible Peace. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 12 A wondrous miracle! The Mother of God, in the person of Her icon, deigned to come to the city of Putivl from the deserted blat Silently. In the same way, call our souls, O Most Pure One, from the cronyism of sin, so that we may bring all the songs about You to God: Alleluia. Ikos 12 The great triumph is the second finding of the venerable image of the Mother of God of Molchensk: with it, like an omophorion, the Mother of God covers the city of Putivl and the Seversk country, and the entire Russian land, and for Her we cry out with tenderness: Rejoice, living Vine, Divine Vertograd; Rejoice, rose blooming, fragrant with virginity. Rejoice, final deliverance, idolatry flattery; Rejoice, true Firstfruits of Divine re-creation. Rejoice, eternal rejoicing, of the angelic army; Rejoice, everlasting blessing of the human race. Rejoice, Most Holy Virgin, the monastery of Molchensk brings joy and affirmation. Kontakion 13 Oh, All-Merciful Lady, Mother of our Lord and God Jesus Christ and All-Holy Abbess of the Monastery of Molchensk! Protection of the city of Putivl and the country of Seversk and all the Russian lands! We accept this little prayer of ours today before Thy holy icon, free Thy servants, O Theotokos, from all troubles and misfortunes. Quickly lead our souls out of sinful cronyism and revive us through deeds of mercy and Thy love, so that we may always gratefully sing a song about You to the All-Bountiful God: Alleluia. This Kontakion is spoken three times, and again the 1st Ikos and the 1st Kontakion are honored. PRAYER Oh, Mother of Light, Most Blessed Virgin Mary, I appeal to You in my repentance: I am not the Imam of tears of repentance, lower than heartfelt contrition, lower than the cry of the soul about my iniquities. Only I stand before You in hope, revealed in the Silence of Your honest icon, and I humbly pray: enter into the sinful bliss of my soul and transform it into a source of pure faith, ascend to the old tree of my wisdom, and make my spiritual blindness into a new shoot of good deeds with light. Shine on grace, crush the stone of my heart, and transform candles burning with love into fragrant wax, so that, like a good beekeeper, I will hear with the open ears of my soul the command to create Your temple in myself, O All-Pure One, praising You, Most Wonderful One, forever and ever. Amen. Magnification: We magnify You, Most Holy Mother of Christ our God, who has risen silently with Her icon and the people who honor Your holy image, delivering from troubles. Celebration on September 18/October 1 and April 24/May 7 There is another akathist to the Molchenskaya Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, which is read in the Moscow Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Businovo (there is a miraculous Molchenskaya Icon there). This akathist to the same Molchenskaya icon is read in the Putivl Molchensky Pechersk Monastery and in the Molchenskaya Sophronium Hermitage - the place where this icon originally appeared on September 18, 1405. The Akathist was compiled by the modern church hymnographer Archbishop Ionofan (Eletskikh) in 1995 in memory of the second discovery of the Molchensk Icon, during the time when Bishop Ionofan occupied the Glukhov See.

Akathist to the Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God
Kontakion 1 To the Mother of God, chosen from all generations, we offer thanksgiving songs about the appearance of Her wondrous icon, to Her those who flow from troubles, sorrows and illnesses will soon receive deliverance. Oh, Queen of heaven and earth, be our merciful Mother, and protect us with Your love all the days of our lives, crying to You: Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, a pure mirror of the Most Holy Trinity.
Ikos 1 The Creator of Angels chose You, the Lady, to serve the salvation of the human race. You, having given your consent to this glorious and sorrowful lot, have given Your flesh to the incarnation of the Son of God. Now You intercede for us before Him and pour out Your great mercy through Your numerous miraculous icons. To one of them, “Molchenskaya”, falling, from the depths of our hearts we cry out to You: Rejoice, Holy Village of the Word of God; Rejoice, Unapproachable Receptacle of Light; Rejoice, exalted to the Throne of the Lord; Rejoice, decisions of the Eternal Council to the Performer; Rejoice, Stone of God's economy; Rejoice, Queen of the Heavenly Host; Rejoice, Mother of the King of Kings; Rejoice, New Eden, more glorious than the ancient one; Rejoice, you who inspired Eve’s fall to rebellion; Rejoice, having trampled down the head of the serpent with Your Nativity; Rejoice, resolution of the ancient oath; Rejoice, Promise of future salvation; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 2 Seeing You, O Mother of God, on Your wondrous icon, holding the Son of God in your arms, in Your right hand we see the ladder that reveals Your guidance. Through it, with Your help and prayers, we ascend to heaven, where all the righteous sing to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 2 The weak mind is amazed, O Mother of God, when in the signs revealed on Thy ancient icon, it strives to embrace the incomprehensible depth of Thy service: for Thy robe is woven from dark clouds, on the right side is the lunar light, on Thy head is the face of the sun, on the perso – multi-color arc. Marveling at this, we cry out in amazement to Ti: Rejoice, O Ark of Noah, saving the holy people of God; Rejoice, Dove, who brought good news to the perishing people in the flood; Rejoice, Dugo of many colors, promise of our salvation; Rejoice, Jacob's Ladder, Who brought God down to His people; Rejoice, Unburnt Kupino, who received the fire of the Divine unharmed; Rejoice, Rod of Moses, who shows us the path of salvation in the sea of life; Rejoice, Red Sea, which remained impassable after the passage of Israel; Rejoice, life-giving fountain, who gives water to the thirsty in the desert; Rejoice, Heavenly Manno, ever feeding many; Rejoice, Tablet, for in You the Word of salvation is imagined; Rejoice, animated Ark of the Covenant, who carried Christ the Lawgiver inside; Rejoice, incomparably greater Holy of Holies; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 3 We ask you to grant us the power of understanding of the Scriptures, O Lady, so that we may know, as the prophets of old prophesied in the images of many, Your glory, hidden until time, O Mother of God. Thus, even now, having shone in Your icon among the clans of the Molchenskys, the image appears to us, as if the light of Thy mercy, Lady, would shine forth among the clans of our sinful souls, let us glorify God with the same: Alleluia.
Ikos 3 You have a good providence for Your people, O Mother of God, we see, as was prophesied in ancient times by the prophets, You now appear for our admonition in Your miraculous icons. Leading this, let us sing to Ti: Rejoice, Intercessor, for you stand before Christ, like a Queen, clothed in the golden robe of virtue; Rejoice, fat Goro, imbued with the Spirit, for God is pleased to abide in You; Rejoice, O Tsar's Palace, the chosen City, in whom Christ dwells; Rejoice, Fleece of Gideon, on Him the Holy Spirit descended like rain; Rejoice, Chosen One of God, Solomon sang of You of old: You are all good, O my neighbor; Rejoice, animated Ark, for in You the Wisdom of God has created a home for Itself; Rejoice, Receptacle of the heavens that cannot be contained, for Isaiah cried out about You: Behold, the Virgin will receive with child; Rejoice, O flourishing Rod, from Him the heavenly Color of Christ has vegetated for us; Rejoice, O Virgin, prophesied by Ezekiel, by Her, the hidden God; Rejoice, fiery chariot of Jehovah on cherubim; Rejoice, sealed with the Book, in Her the Word of God was inscribed for us with the Divine Finger; Rejoice, Uncut Mountain, from Her the Cornerstone was cut off, O Christ; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 4 Thou didst pacify the storm of misfortunes and strife raised by Thy intercession, O Mother of God, when False Dmitry and a foreigner were plotting in Putivl against the Russian land. Thus now, through Your intercession, pacify the world, enlighten those who have departed from God, and destroy the councils of the wicked against the Church of Christ. Let us glorify God, who bestowed such an Intercessor, by singing to Him: Alleluia.
Ikos 4 Having heard Your words, Mother of God, about the first-written icon: With this image of My grace and strength, we fall with hope to Your holy icons and glorify Your life like this: Rejoice, fragrant fruit of the barren God-father of Joachim and Anna; Rejoice, brought into the lawful temple to live and into the Holy of Holies, brought into the communion of Angels; Rejoice, you who have sanctified the path of virginity with Your ever-virginity; Rejoice, O Most Gracious One, who received the good news of the birth of the Son of God from the Archangel; Rejoice, Blessed One among women, who through Your chosenness and humility brought God down to earth; Rejoice, thou who received Elizabeth’s kiss and the leaping of her baby as if she had received a prophecy; Rejoice, you continued God’s extreme condescension by giving birth to the Son of God in a den and laying Him in a manger; Rejoice, you who made the angels glad with the birth of your Son; Rejoice, thou who hast received the adoration of the shepherds and the gifts of the wise men to the Son of God; Rejoice, you who were not afraid of the sorrows that Simeon predicted for You; Rejoice, saved from the malice of Herod and the Infant Christ by an Angel; Rejoice, having destroyed the Egyptian idols by Your appearance; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 5 The God-bearing star is your icon to the people, the Mother of God, for fear you appear in it as Hodegetria, showing us the way to heaven. We pray to Thee, O Blessed One, show us the royal path to salvation, so that as we follow them, we will sing to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 5 Seeing, O Theotokos, Your wondrous icon, like a shield in the battles of life given to us, let us turn our souls to Your many-sorrowful and glorious path and look with humility at our troubles and sorrows, and through Your instruction we will see in them God’s providence, which provides salvation. Having understood this, let us sing to Ti thus: Rejoice, thou who hast found the lost Son in the house of the Father, the Temple of God; Rejoice, you who begged the Son to turn water into wine at the wedding in Cana; Rejoice, you who walked with Him the entire way of the cross of the Son of God to Golgotha; Rejoice, Most Blessed One, who surpassed the apostles in Your firmness; Rejoice, having seen the Divinity of Your Son in His very torment; Rejoice, you who showed devotion to the sight of God at the cross of Christ; Rejoice, having covered the sin of those who crucified Your Son with love; Rejoice, you who adopted the entire human race in the person of John the Theologian at the cross; Rejoice, thou who was the first of man to behold the risen Lord; Rejoice, you who have seen the ascension of the Lord, who have rejoiced at His glorification of humanity; Rejoice, having given up your soul in the hands of your Son after your dormition; Rejoice, for after your ascension into heaven you intercede there for us; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 6 Two monks appeared as preachers of Your glory, O Mother of God, in the land of Sumy, bringing Your icon in ancient days from the devastated borders of Kyiv to Mount Wonderful in the midst of the Molchensky clans. Those who saw her and believed in her miracles cried out to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 6 The grace of greatness appeared on the Wonderful Mountain, when, after the death of the monks, Your icon, the Mother of God, appeared to the beekeeper, and, according to Your command, at the place of its appearance the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was founded by the people of Putivl in great joy. With them, the entire Orthodox Church brings the following praise to Thee: Rejoice, who diligently listened to the teaching of her Son; Rejoice, faithful performer of the work of Christ; Rejoice, Blessed One, who accepted the apostolic lot; Rejoice, O Temple of the Living God, who prefigured the Church; Rejoice, Pillar and Establishment of the Truth, protection and intercession of the Church; Rejoice, Wisdom of God, edifying the flock of Christ; Rejoice, Source of church beauty; Rejoice, beautification of the temples of God; Rejoice, you who impart grace and strength in your image; Rejoice, performing church services with splendor; Rejoice, you who fill the euphony of prayerful singing with grace; Rejoice, Heart of the Church, who evokes reciprocal love among the faithful; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 7 Although the beekeeper gathers honey, he sees Your icon, O Mother of God, on the branches in a radiance like the sun. Hearing the voice: May the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos be built in this place, having found true honey instead of bees, cry out to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 7 The newly built temple at the site of the appearance of Your icon, the Mother of God, attracted many worshipers to eat. Through the prayers and deeds of the Sophronian hermitage in the name of Thy Nativity, Lady, I founded here. The monks of this monastery glorify Thee: Rejoice, thou who bestowest spiritual consolation on those who have renounced the world; Rejoice, invincible Companion in spiritual battles; Rejoice, improvement of Orthodox monasteries; Rejoice, there has been considerable fruitfulness from the monastic labors; Rejoice, for Your wonderful icon has been glorified on Wonderful Mountain; Rejoice, for in the midst of the swamps of the Molchenskys, Your great grace has risen; Rejoice, for having appeared to the beekeeper with true honey, you now give everyone something to drink; Rejoice, foundation of the Sophronian desert; Rejoice, after the destruction of the desert Thy icons won a wonderful salvation; Rejoice, wise dispensation of the Putivl monastery; Rejoice, a miraculous uprising of the Molchensky monastery from the ruins; Rejoice, land of Putivl Stronghold and blessing; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 8 A strange miracle appeared, when the blind maiden in Businov’s vision saw Thee in a dream, the Lady. Having heard the words: Go along the river and find My icon, arise from sleep and do Your will. Having found the wonderful icon, cry out in joy: Alleluia.
Ikos 8 Having fulfilled everything according to Your word, Most Pure One, the maiden will go along the riverbank and find a source, having washed her eyes, she will receive sight. Therefore, until nightfall, the maiden zealously sought Your icon, O Mother of God, and did not see it. Just on the second day, having cut the icon, from the depths of your soul you cried out to Ti: Rejoice, you who visited the city of Moscow by the appearance of Your wonderful icon; Rejoice, give blessings and beautification to Businovskaya; Rejoice, bringing human souls out of darkness; Rejoice, spiritual and bodily vision; Rejoice, Life-Giving Source of eternal life flowing; Rejoice, thou who impartest the power of grace to the Businovsky treasure; Rejoice, many who washed themselves in it received speedy healing; Rejoice, O flowing sea of grace from Your icon; Rejoice, haven of the stormy voyage of life; Rejoice, Star, illuminating our souls; Rejoice, Heaven, filled with the radiance of the Glory of the Lord; Rejoice, high Goro, who raises the soul to the heights; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 9 Having lost all true understanding, the nets of the Mother of God, wrongly paying veneration to the Mother of God, learned to go to the Businovsky temple, confusing the flock of Christ, but the servants of the church admonished them, abandoned their delusion, and cried out to God with faith: Alleluia.
Ikos 9 These multi-proclamations say that the Most Pure Virgin, and not Her Son, saves the human race. They do not accept this blasphemy and the sacraments of the Church and deny themselves from the Church of God. We, giving honor to the Most Pure One, confess Her as the Mother of Christ, the Son of God, and as the Intercessor before Him we have learned to give honor to Her. For this reason, we praise the Most Immaculate One: Rejoice, Daughter of Adam, who through Your chosenness, obedience and purity has rendered original sin unfruitful; Rejoice, Immaculate, the only one of the wives who did not have personal sin; Rejoice, Sweetest Fruit, brought as a gift to the Lord from the human race; Rejoice, O Marriageless One, purified by the invasion of the Holy Spirit; Rejoice, who gave Your flesh to the Son of God; Rejoice, O All-Wise One, admonishing those who wrongly worship Thee; Rejoice, O Blessed One, who flows forth miracles from Your icons; Rejoice, Merciful One, who does not reject those of other faiths who turn to You; Rejoice, Offering One, quickly fulfilling the requests of all; Rejoice, Most Holy One, covering everyone with Your love; Rejoice, Most Bright One, admonishing the false teachers of wisdom; Rejoice, Pure One, instructing and confirming those who waver in faith; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 10 If you want to save the human race from sorrows and illnesses, Mother of God, you have great mercy on the suffering infants, for it is known that when you were anointed with oil from your icon in the Businovskaya Church, you would sooner receive healing. Their mothers sang to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 10 You are a strong wall, Bogomati. The monastery of Molchenskaya, and the village of Businovskaya, the fence is indestructible. For this reason, falling to Your miraculous icon with our many different sorrows, we cry out to You like this: Rejoice, O Guardian who bears wives in your womb; Rejoice, permission for suffering women in labor; Hail, O Infants of the Mammal; Rejoice, good teacher of the young; Rejoice, Ogrado orphans and fair care; Rejoice, Organizer of good marriages; Rejoice, patroness of pious families; Rejoice, reliable Helper in the sorrows of life; Rejoice, quick reconciliation of the warring; Rejoice, widows and single mothers Intercession; Rejoice, support and consolation in frail old age; Rejoice, protection of all the rejected; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 11 With singing of praise we all glorify Thee, O Mother of God, for through Thy great mercy, the blasphemers of the Orthodox faith, having desecrated the life-giving spring of Businovsky, plotted to diminish the radiance of the glory of Thy icon, O Lady. However, in no way successful in her plan, Her glory increased even more than before. Faithful, rejoicing over this, cried out to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 11 Our lamps have gone out, we have become very poor in the oil of faith and virtues, we are troubled in vain in this temporary life. By falling to Your icon, we find the strength of faith and the hope of salvation in You. For this reason, we cry loudly: Rejoice, O unquenchable Lamp of those overwhelmed by the storm of life; Rejoice, pacification of the troubled world; Rejoice, Patroness of the Orthodox race; Rejoice, admonition and punishment for the rulers of the insane; Rejoice, O champion of the right in battles; Rejoice, inspiration and Guardian of the faithful leaders and warriors; Rejoice, sick and wounded Healer; Rejoice, among the rebellious crowds there is a Cover and a Fence; Rejoice, refuge expelled from their homes; Rejoice, Salvation is at the edge of the abyss of beings; Rejoice, grieving mothers who earnestly pray to You, the return of lost children; Rejoice, you who give hope of salvation to the desperate; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 12 The grace that sometimes shone in the midst of the Molchensky blatas from Your wondrous icon, the Mother of God, now overflows in the weight of Businovskaya and throughout the entire city of Moscow, for it is known that those who suffer from mental illness and those possessed by unclean spirits receive special gracious help from You. We, rejoicing over this, cry out to God: Alleluia.
Ikos 12 Singing the multitude of Thy blessings to the human race, let us not be like a foolish child, rejoicing in the gifts of the Mother, but forgetting to thank the Mother herself. But having in You, Mother of God, an inexhaustible treasure of beauty and love, let us sing with the grateful lips of Tisitsa: Rejoice, richly adorned with gifts of grace; Rejoice, you who generously bestow those who diligently flock to You; Rejoice, hope of the human race; Rejoice, hope of all God's creation; Rejoice, healing for those possessed by unclean spirits; Rejoice, you who supply all that is needed for salvation; Rejoice, encouragement and intercession for those who depart into eternal life; Rejoice, admonishment of unjust judges; Rejoice, Protection and Consolation of suffering prisoners; Rejoice, Traveling Guide; Rejoice, good Helper of the builders of the toiling; Rejoice, godly songwriters Inspiration; Rejoice, O image of ineffable love, pure mirror of the Holy Trinity.
Kontakion 13 Oh, All-Singing Mother, now falling before Your gracious icon, we ask You to beg the merciful God: may he save the perishing world, have mercy on our Russian country and enlighten us living in it and guide us on the right path, so that we may all sing to Him: Alleluia. (This kontakion is sung 3 times, and then ikos 1 and kontakion 1)
Prayer Oh, All-merciful, humane-loving Lady, Our Lady! Hear this weak prayer of those who fall with love and trepidation to Your honest and most glorious Molchenskaya Icon. We humbly ask You: be an indestructible wall for our Russian country, protect the holy Orthodox Church from unbelief, heresies and schisms. You are the all-powerful Intercessor of Christians. Protect every soul that comes running to You from evil circumstances, sorrow and illness, keep them from falling into sin, raise those who have fallen to repentance, heal those suffering from mental ailments and those possessed by evil spirits, grant those who depart into eternal life consolation and hope of salvation, and all that is necessary for piety. grant life. May we glorify the One God in the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and Your merciful intercession, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

About everything
The clergy and a multitude of people immediately went to the indicated place, and everyone saw the Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God, emitting a wondrous light. During the Time of Troubles, the abbot and his brethren, together with the miraculous Molchensky Icon of the Mother of God, were forced to leave the ruined monastery and move to Putivl, where the large Molchensky Pechersky Monastery was built. During one of the fires, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Molchenskaya disappeared. In 1653, the thoroughly neglected Mother of God Monastery of the Nativity was restored through the efforts of a certain builder Sophrony, which is why the monastery received another name - Sophrony. An exact list of the miraculous Molchenskaya Icon of the Mother of God was installed in the monastery. It turned out that the icon of the Mother of God was hidden by local residents to save it from desecration. Thus, sometimes the Molchenskaya icon of the Most Holy Theotokos differs little from the PUTIVLIAN icon. There is also a miraculous copy of the Molchensk Icon of the Mother of God, revealed in the village of Businovo near Moscow. Currently, the Molchenskaya Icon of the Mother of God is located in the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Businov. The Queen of Heaven shows special mercy to all those who depart into eternal life. Before the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Molchenskaya” they pray for protection from enemy attacks, from grief, sadness and despondency, for healing of diseases, for protection from fire, for guidance and protection for those departing to eternal life. By praying before this icon, patients with nervous diseases and mental disorders receive healing.
