Harassment of Andrei Tkachev's father

A journalist's view.

On February 1, 2021, the Orthodoxy and World website published an article by priest Alexander Pikalev, “Breaking your wife over your knee,” in which he discusses the tape recording of Father Andrei Tkachev’s speech. The author's conclusions about his fellow priest:

  1. “The priest calls for a totalitarian system in a single family, where two people who love and respect each other are not needed, but a strong one who rapes and a weak one who is raped, whose horns are beaten off with a crowbar.”
  2. “This is a necessary evil, and such people need to be able to recognize and stay away from them, and when they try to push their fantasies into reality, catch and isolate them from potential victims in specially designated areas with a very strict daily routine.”
  3. “When a person says things like that, it doesn’t matter whether he’s a priest or a drunk from next door. For your own sake, for the sake of your family and children, do not let such people into your brain or into your home.”

The publication of this sweet and reasonable review gave impetus to the appearance of other speeches demanding reprisals against Archpriest Andrei Tkachev.

I don’t know whether the editors ordered this article or whether the author himself sent it to Pravmir, but the professional responsibility of the editor obliges us to find out the source of the tape recording, when it was made, where and to whom Fr. Andrey, who were his listeners. If the editor didn’t have 15 minutes to do this (that’s how long it took me to find out these answers), he could turn to the preacher himself - especially since he is a long-time author of Pravmir.

Well, okay, I was reluctant to turn to Father Andrei Tkachev, who in spirit and some views on modern events can hardly be called a like-minded editor, but then it would be possible to look in a search engine to see if the tape recording is consistent with other statements of the priest about marriage, family, violence, the role of women. He has published dozens of sermons on this topic on YouTube, articles, numerous interviews in the media (including about the tape recording of November 19, 2010), and an entire book has been published, “The First Miracle, Conversations on Marriage and Family,” Kyiv, 2012 , which has as many as 222 pages. A conscientious editor would be surprised that in this array of materials he would not find any support for the conclusions of priest Alexander Pikalev.

Okay, I’ll believe that for some reason the editor didn’t have time for this either. But then you could look at the pages of your own publication, which contains, for example, an article about. Andrey “The Main Treasure of a Man and a Woman” dated August 30, 2013. By the way, this article contains the following reasoning:

“And if your word, which was not intended for him at all (i.e., eavesdropping on someone else’s conversation - PVV), was picked up by an offended ill-wisher, it is also useless to make excuses. A shrill voice will spread the news throughout the jungle that Akela has missed.”

It’s a pity that the editor turned out to be, if not in the role of the tiger Shere Khan, but in the role of those who are happy to find a reason to not only humiliate their opponent, but to convey to public opinion calls for real reprisals against him.

A complete recording of the public speech of this Orthodox priest, his preaching of hatred. He speaks openly, without any embarrassment, in front of a fairly large audience.

Archpriest Vladimir Vigilyansky and other Orthodox leaders immediately rushed to his defense, saving the honor of his uniform. But what is there to save?

https://www.pravoslavie.ru/90790.html

But there are Orthodox priests who have not yet lost their human dignity.

PROT. SERGY KONDAKOV: “Like materialized pictures from the “Journal of Militant Atheists” of the 1930s, living caricatures in hoods and robes walk across our land. However, most often they do not walk, but drive in expensive cars, although this, alas, does not change their apostasy essence. In the face of such temptation, being a truly Orthodox person is difficult, to say the least. Moreover, this pseudo-church public does not spare its anger, participating in the persecution of all those who are trying to preserve holy Orthodoxy.

Archpriest Andrei Tkachev, a highly promoted missionary of the MP, favored by Patriarch Kirill, is known for many of his speeches. In fairness, it must be said that one can find good and useful in his statements. However, underneath the pious exterior of a missionary and preacher lies an unrepentant and failed former propagandist for a totalitarian regime.

Archpriest Andrei Tkachev in his speech looks like a notorious misogynist, calling on husbands to violence against their wives. In his opinion, assault is a kind of panacea for family happiness. Family happiness, in turn, lies in the wife’s absolute and unquestioning obedience to her husband.

IER. ALEXANDER MALYKH: After reading the statements of Archpriest Andrei Tkachev, one gets the feeling that he has been soiled, to put it roughly, with shit. And this comes from the mouth of a clergyman! According to the word of the Savior, such a thing defiles not only the archpriest himself, but also everyone who listens and does not express their indignation at this verbal diarrhea. Therefore, Orthodox Christians, in whose presence such impurities are heard, should stop wicked lips, even if they are the lips of an archpriest.

We all need to remember that the Mother of God, an example of purity and chastity, belongs to the weaker half of the human race. Thus, an insult to women is an insult to the Mother of God.

Each of us has a mother. This means that the insults expressed by the archpriest towards women are also insults towards our mothers. These include insults to our wives, sisters, children, and women we respect.

Ultimately, this is an insult to God Himself, for a woman is God’s creation, called to eternal life in the Kingdom of Christ. The holy Apostle Peter calls on women to “give honor as joint heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered” (1 Pet. 3:7).

How many obstacles did this clergyman erect for his prayers! Well, may the Lord bring the presumptuous archpriest to reason and make him aware of the sin he has committed!”

Author: Mark Added February 20, 2021 at 10:59 pm In defense of Tkachev.

“Let judgment roll down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream.” (Amos 5:24)

As we know from the Holy Scriptures: “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” My heart, since I found myself in the thick of events here in Ukraine, is filled, for the most part, only with pain. I carefully watch everything that happens and try not to miss anything. I understand that there will never be another time when the “Orthodox universe in a single swamp” is being destroyed before my eyes, and what I don’t understand now may not be revealed to me later. Since yesterday, there has been a heated debate on the Internet regarding the statements of Archpriest Andrei Tkachev. And many are outraged. I’ll say right away that I’m not a fan of Andrei’s father. Therefore, I do not pay close attention to his works. I just look at it from time to time. And this time I became curious, looked carefully and more than once, and realized for myself that despite all the strangeness of his manner, what he meant was very close to me this time, and he was more right than many. Father Andrei talks about something that has occupied my heart for many years. The only trouble is that I have not come across terms that can explain this idea in church literature. That is why Father Andrei is forced to use such techniques that irritate the decent public. I understand how it is: the soul feels, the heart tells, but you don’t know how to say it. But you can no longer remain silent, because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. It is impossible for a priest not to notice the problem itself. People will believe, come to church, and after a while they will become attached to confession. It’s a very strange confession that doesn’t let you go, it seems to suck a person into a constant whirlwind, digging into little things. And priests are no exception. On this path, they become codependent with such parishioners, looking for more and more new sins. And they get stuck. At first, you try to fight, you exhort that the church leads a person not to sins, which now need to be endlessly searched for, like a pig truffle, and not to the priest, but only personally to Christ, whom we do not yet know, but really want to know. And that a Christian does not need forgiveness of sins for anything other than to find Christ, the new Adam, desired and incomprehensible. Christ does not forgive sins “to take away.” Without the fact that a person meaningfully enters into personal communication with Christ, the forgiveness of sins is a useless incident, because at any second the sins will appear again. A person must want to be forgiven. Instead, everything is reminiscent of the joke about the computer guy and the Frog Princess, whom he refuses to kiss, citing the fact that he doesn’t need a wife, he has a computer, and a talking frog is cool. There is another difficulty. But it is a fact that all calls after such a confession to turn to Christ, i.e. talking about the PARTICIPATION that YOU take turns out to be in vain. No matter how much you say, in response they wave their heads that yes, but they cannot grasp the thought. The meaning slips away, and the person again returns to the dull whirlwind of his sins. The trouble is that persuasion or persuasion cannot change this. As a result, you can only achieve confident chatter that Christ is “our everything,” which supposedly, by default, is already clear. I was able to explain to myself the reason for this phenomenon. The reason for this is servility or servility, an important phenomenon of human life, which is undeservedly ignored. What this is, I will try to explain in my own words, without referring to the experience of others, only relying on some words of the Holy Scripture. When Adam was still in the Garden of Eden, we read how the Lord brought all the animals before him, so that he named each one. Before this, I understand, Adam learned to take care of himself: walk, eat, etc., but the emergence of relationships with animals in his life required that Adam develop the right feelings for them. And since after naming the animals, the Lord gives Adam a wife, then, I believe that in relation to animals, socialization was completely completed, and, since this was before the Fall, it was completed correctly, finally, and remained with him forever. What feelings, I ask myself, apply to animals? I think it's sincerity, pity and kindness. All these three feelings have a common property: they do not need reasons for their occurrence, only our desire is enough. They can last a very long time as long as there is interest for them. When interest ends, a person always stops acting on these feelings. And this is true for animals. For example, we pick up a little goat, nurse it, feed it, and it plays with our children. As an adult, he is also not left without human care. But, up to a certain point. When a caring owner slaughters this animal in cold blood, and uses its skin and meat at his own discretion: he will eat himself and treat guests, and if he wants, he will feed his dogs. The servile feelings ended as they began – arbitrarily. The Lord put these feelings in us so that we behave correctly with animals. Only after this does the Lord give Adam a wife - a person just like him. And for her it is assumed that Adam will find another system of relationships - love. As we know, our first parents were expelled from paradise after the Fall. Now we are all forced to search for God, truth and truth by the sweat of our brow. Our common weakness is not knowing what to do. And we call it freedom. She does not leave us even when we cross the threshold of the temple. The first thing that comes to a person’s mind in church is the innermost thought: “After all, God knows that I’m not so bad.” And it draws a person further, even to confession. But even after confession, a person cannot get rid of this thought, no matter how much he fights, no matter how much he tries to force himself to repent - his heart will remain cold. And a person can only draw closer to Christ in words. And this will be so until infinity, because the basis is pity, sincerity and kindness - servility, which is also servility. And this feeling is not intended for God and neighbor, since according to God’s plan it can manifest itself, regardless of truth, right and law, but completely at its own discretion. You are their source. That is why servility does not allow one to get rid of the feeling of guilt after confession. It’s a shame to take it for free, because you yourself admitted that it’s not so bad. That is why harlots, publicans and even a robber enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Their servility was previously “crushed” by life circumstances. Therefore they found themselves poor in spirit, so they went and took the righteousness of faith. Otherwise, you won’t be able to reject yourself. And that means following Christ. God has ordained judgment, mercy, and truth for human society. For the inner man - love. But when our contemporaries talk about feelings, they “put everything into one basket,” which I would call the words of a toast: “To all the good things.” It seems that sincerity, pity and kindness are suitable for relationships between people. In fact, on these three “pillars” stands all the untruths of humanity. That’s why the problem of a cat with a broken paw is so close to the citizen’s heart. This is given free of charge. This is “on the firmware” of a person. And it’s so nice, because it seems to justify it before God: “Look God, I took pity on all the fish, cats, dogs... That means I’m good. And that means I could feel sorry for people, they just don’t deserve it.”

I want to end where I started.
About Andrey's father. Please don't tear him apart. Now before my eyes, where I live, many “beautiful and fat” are dying and descending into the abyss. And they are considered the elite and speak “very sweetly,” and many sincerely, kindly pity them. And I understand that I say goodbye to them with a cold heart. I am sure for myself that it is better to “pounce” on parishioners out of an abundance of heart like a shepherd dog than to watch both yourself and the Orthodox “lulled” by you slowly descend into hell. In words they are still alive, but in their hearts they already have suffocation, as the first sign of death. Author: Archpriest Alexy Herodov. And this is the best thing I have read about this incident. Answer

Decent people no longer talk about Archpriest Andrei Tkachev. I mean intelligent Orthodox Christians who, when asked “did you read what Tkachev said?” my eyes are already twitching and my teeth are grinding. “How much can you say about this uncouth outcast, an arrogant misogynist who ran away from his flock? Let's talk about good things! Let's ignore them! Ignoring is easy and pleasant, but will Tkachev disappear from this? And most importantly, will his admirers disappear, sharing communion with you in the same cup, welcoming and justifying his rudeness with delight?

What if someone doesn’t know what we’re actually talking about?

For the first time, Orthodox Christians were shocked by Tkachev’s style of preaching back in Kyiv, when during the days of the Maidan he declared in a sermon that he did not pray for the “rebels” and did not feel sorry for them, but prayed for the strengthening of power. Soon after this, he ended up in Moscow - whip preachers are in great demand in Russia.

Here he began to inspiredly throw mud at his abandoned homeland and incite hatred towards Ukrainians: “Ukraine, with all its swinish ideology, with its demonic mentality, everyday Satanism, is not at all fraternal.”

Then a recording surfaced with open propaganda of violence against women, in which Tkachev glorified the burqa, called on men to break women “over the knee, beat off her horns, with a crowbar, the edge of the palm, whoever is strong, bend her, rub her, push her into a washing machine, do I don’t know what’s wrong with her,” and shouted that “women are arrogant - if she doesn’t get hit in the forehead at least once in her life, she won’t understand. They need to give birth and be afraid.” Then, forced to justify himself, he will call all this a “painful metaphor”, misunderstood by “offended ill-wishers.”

If you watch some of Tkachev’s videos over the last year, without knowing this background, you might be surprised that some people don’t like him so much? Well, such a normal dad, alive, speaks a modern language, opposes ritual beliefs, promotes family values, everything is as usual in priestly rhetoric - only lively, simple, not abstruse, as the audience writes - dynamic, strict, convincing.

But sometimes Tkachev’s true face breaks through, which makes even loyal viewers and fans write in the comments: “Oh. Andrey, maybe you need to rest, or go to confession yourself... Do you see yourself? God's help to you and spiritual health. It has shaken for you. Forgive for Christ's sake."

And it’s interesting that the preacher’s outbursts of uncontrollable anger are caused by only one topic - women who behave incorrectly, from Tkachev’s point of view. First of all, these are women and girls leading an unchaste lifestyle, “harlots” and “sluts,” “shameless bastards, libertines,” as well as independent women who dare to live by their own mind, without relying on a man or not conforming to church laws.

“A woman is not created to manage life,” says Tkachev. - She was created to cook porridge, wipe her ass, wash pots. Hang curtains. And be happy. And don't have abortions. For this there must be a man who controls life. He feeds her, takes care of her, does not give her to the executioner’s table and is responsible for life.”

There is clearly something personal here, some kind of drama, rooted in childhood or youth. It’s pointless to guess, but you don’t have to be a psychologist to see: nothing evokes such hatred in Tkachev as fornication, and predominantly female. In general, he sees the root of all evil, contrary to the patristic tradition, not in pride at all - but in fornication. “Fornication is an integral, fundamental reality that motivates people to commit all crimes.”

But even an Orthodox spectator who asked the question: what to do when, having moved away from confession, you remember another sin, may get the hot hand. Normal neophyte question. Unexpectedly, he caused a surge of anger in Tkachev: the poor woman was immediately accused of seeing only minor sins, “dust,” and not seeing terrible prodigal sins. Apparently, Dad saw through the screen the spiritual essence of the questioner and recommended that she, alone with herself, “pick through her own shit” and not burden the priests.

Along the way, he called those going to confession with pieces of paper a gang of schizophrenics. “Wow, I wish you... Not those times, otherwise I would have built you if God had given me power.”

The public's reaction to such behavior on air speaks volumes. The audience was mostly female: “Well done, super. That's the only way it's needed. Alive, real, very powerful.” “We really need you!!. Apparently, this is the only way to talk to us...” “So, so, father, maybe our brains will fall into place!” For simple workers who are fed up with their constantly nagging wives, this theology of abuse is like a balm for the soul: “True love is severity. Continue in the same spirit Archpriest Andrey Tkachev.” “Orthodox charismatic!!! Handsome! Everything is on point!! The best Orthodox preacher of our time!” “Hot daddy, correct. In our time, this is all we need. So that it burns and hits you on the head. Backhand."

Why be surprised: after all, the majority of Orthodox women are girls who were yelled at in childhood and who were beaten with a belt for failing grades, who are accustomed to their father yelling at his wife or even beating her, who were yelled at at school, who were humiliated by lovers and husbands , bosses for whom abuse is their natural environment.

Everything would be simple if Tkachev was a mediocre, uneducated, unintelligent boor. Despite the lack of a completed higher education (he studied for two years at the Moscow Military Institute under the Ministry of Defense at the Faculty of Special Propaganda), he is well-read, and not only in patristic literature, he does not mumble, does not mince words, is artistic and intelligent. Listeners and viewers sometimes have a question: is it under the influence of certain substances that a person sometimes “carries” so much? Is it his true views or a conscious play on the public, a subtly thought-out image?

Even twenty years ago, they say, he was not like this. At that time, many believers were waiting for his publications in the Youth magazine and valued him for his ability to speak a language understandable to churchgoing youth.

So, what is the secret of Tkachev’s success?

Psychologist Natalia Skuratovskaya :

“Firstly, the current type is a demonstratively brutal boor with jokes and jokes. This image of a “hero of our time” has been diligently supported in recent years by state propaganda aimed at “patriotism and militarism.”

Secondly, deliberately expressive facial expressions and gestures - he looks lively against the general gray background, stands out, but “in a simple way,” without causing a feeling of class rejection.

Thirdly, authoritative manners: “Someone Orthodox comes in and says: “Now I’m in charge...” - people like this, especially in times of alarming uncertainty, paternalism and the illusion of a “strong hand.”

Fourthly, clear images of the enemy - this unites fans of the genre and instills in them the idea that they are not “the worst of all.”

I’ll add on my own behalf - Andrei Tkachev gives the impression of a man who has the habit of taking a drink from the bottle. I especially emphasize that it makes an impression. I can’t say for sure, this is clearer to those who don’t know him from videos on YouTube. What is striking is the simplification of thinking and sudden emotional swings typical of drinkers. Well, this is understandable and close to the Russian public; Tkachev can replace a father for adults who is so common in many families - a barely yelling, hard-drinking subject, confident in his right to educate with cuffs and a belt.

Again, simplicity - many people love it. The circle of those people who need Schmemann, Blum and Chistyakov is narrow; they are terribly far from the people. Their calm, reflective, overly intelligent intonations are unpleasant - they are alien to the common people, annoying, like a hat and glasses once were. They are for gourmets. And Tkachev is something like shawarma, a clearly and sharply fragrant fast food. Church Zhirinovsky, which you can watch while slapping yourself on the thighs: “No, look how you bent!”

But I’m interested in understanding where it came from, and most importantly, why there is so much of it? Him and Fr. Dmitry Smirnov . But Tkachev is twenty years younger, he, of course, is already ahead of his grandfather. Turn on the iron - Tkachev is there. On “Spas”, on “Elitsa”, on “Tsargrad”, on “Radonezh”, on “Russian People's Line”, and he also has his own website, a separate channel on YouTube, where under each video there are tens of thousands of views, a page on VK , Odnoklassniki, Instagram recently appeared, there are already 153 thousand subscribers. A certain YouTube blogger Shakhmatov, a pale imitation of Dudu, recorded an episode with Tkachev for a completely secular audience: it’s called “An Interview with Archpriest (Colonel) Andrei Tkachev.” I think Dud’s broadcast is still ahead. The secular audience cannot help but be interested in pop in the “godfather” or godfather format - unbreakable self-confidence, contempt for others, coupled with the appearance of someone who often drinks without a snack...

All this frantic missionary activity, of course, needs financial support - it is unlikely that monetization of a YouTube channel can be its only source.

Tkachev also manages to teach the children of oligarchs and officials the Law of God at the elite Basil the Great gymnasium, where you have to pay almost 800 thousand a year for a child’s education, another 600 thousand upon admission, and another hundred thousand upon transfer from 4th to 5th grade. The head of the school’s board of trustees is Konstantin Malofeev, who has been known to support separatists in Ukraine. Is it not this odious character who is actively promoting Tkachev? It’s good to have a well-fed media priest who, if something happens, will “dynamically, strictly, convincingly” convey the desired position to the people, talk about the messianism of Russian statehood and that you can’t rebel - rebels are damned; or speak out about pension reform - and with such meekness, not to mention women’s confessions! “I,” he says , “don’t get involved in this matter. Enjoy the pension you have. Modern man is not worthy even of what he has. There are specialists, including His Majesty the President, let them decide. Imagine that you live under the Tsar Father - what is your pension? No pension. Suvorov crossed the Alps at the age of 70. Here's a pensioner for you! You need to hang around until you die! You have to work while you’re moving.”

“This person should radically limit communication with people, not to mention accepting confession and public preaching. He clearly revels in attention from fans and acts out his sadistic tendencies, especially towards women. This is a serious danger both for the Church and for his soul,” one sober person wrote in the comments under one of Tkachev’s last sensational videos. Does the Church understand this danger?

I think, on the contrary: Tkachev is a very convenient person, and clearly not only for the hierarchy, which immediately limits the media activity of clergy who dare to have a personal position. So the explanation that Tkachev is broadcasting from every angle because he has the right to a personal opinion will not work. The broadcast of his obscurantist opinions is clearly convenient for his superiors, and therefore, they also bear responsibility for the aggression and misogyny he spreads.

Alas, Tkachev is the face of modern Russian Orthodoxy, his message to society.
