The Bible is full of stories of signs. Where are they now?

Estimated reading time: less than a minute.

In the Gospel of Matthew (Matt. 12

:38-42;
Matthew 16
:1-4) twice talks about how the Pharisees asked Christ to show them a sign from heaven, and both times received a sharp rebuke: an
evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign;
and no sign will be given to them except the sign of the prophet Jonah (Matthew
12:39
; the same words with minor changes are in Matthew
16
:4). First, let us clarify: the Lord calls the Pharisees an adulterous race not because of their personal characteristics of behavior, but for their betrayal of God ;
this, as literary scholars say, is a “cross-cutting metaphor” of the Old Testament, in which fidelity to God is likened to marital fidelity, and betrayal of God is likened to adultery. The sign of the prophet Jonah is a sermon of repentance: Jonah, according to the word of God, announced the destruction of Nineveh if she did not repent, and she repented, and nothing terrible happened to her, which even caused a certain displeasure of the prophet. And the crafty one
- we know who the main crafty one is, that is, crooked, that is, cunning, pretending, insincere...

And with signs, the situation with us is as if we were blind: every day the Lord unfolds the world before each of us as His parable, but we simply do not notice this: we are accustomed to special effects.

And with signs, the situation with us is as if we were blind: every day the Lord unfolds the world before each of us as His parable, but we simply do not notice this: we are accustomed to special effects.

The matter is complicated by the fact that a miracle, by well-known definition, is a violation of the laws of nature, but a sign is not always so; in general, there are more signs around us than miracles, but recognizing them is just as difficult. How many people remember, for example, that a rainbow is a sign of the Covenant made by God after the flood as a sign that there will be no more floods? Is everyone truly happy with a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds on a gloomy day - a sign that God’s love does not weaken and consolation awaits everyone who wants to be consoled? How often do we think that not a single meeting can be accidental, that every person is sent to us by God and that we only need to try to understand His plan: does He want to warn? support? encourage?

...Those who believe live well: any small joy is felt by them as mercy; any grief is accepted with trust and the understanding that it must be experienced, that this is a sent test, and it must be accepted with dignity. For what? - To bring the soul to a form in which it can unite with God, and not necessarily in the next world, perhaps in this one. But this must be desired, it must be strived for, and when it happens, it must be understood, felt, rejoiced and grateful.

So don't be upset: the world is still full of signs and wonders, and it's good for us to be here

(Mt.
17
:4).

The Bible is such a book that if we could read it in its entirety every day, we would read a slightly different book every day. However, the point is not in her, the point is in us: when we read Scripture, we change a little, so it would be more accurate to say that in this case a different person would read the Book of Books every day. Let's try to read well-known episodes again: what if we can look at them in a new way? Here.

Offers

We are sure that we will enjoy writing examples for the reader, because the topic is fascinating, so we will not hesitate:

  • You know, a guy gave me a black kitten, do you think something like this can serve as a sign of trouble?
  • Signs are not simple superstitions; there are some that really work. For example, if you left the house irritated, then work that day will not work, and you will definitely lose your temper. Irritation and internal discord are a sign of a bad day.
  • Listen, all the signs are bullshit. Only one thing matters: whether you believe in them or not.

It is difficult to agree with the last statement. If you correctly interpret reality and its clues, you can achieve a lot in life, because in this way a person becomes familiar with the secret knowledge behind reality.

Synonyms

There is only one detail in the previous argument: no one has yet reliably proven the existence of secret knowledge. Well, we will move from the secret to the obvious - to synonyms of a sign, and this will not be superfluous:

  • sign;
  • symbol;
  • omen;
  • precursor.

One could also add the noun “sign” to the list, but there is no complete certainty that this is justified. All the nouns in the list mean something elusively intuitive. A sign is something more tangible and definite. Let the material serve as a good omen and be a great start to the day.

"The Omen" is the most damned movie of all.

Rumors of ghosts or curses regularly haunt mystical horror films.

For example, on the set of “The Exorcist,” there was a big fire that destroyed all the decorations in the bedroom of the possessed girl Regan, except for the bed on which she lay for part of the film.

A more recent example occurred during the filming of Annabelle 3, where a folding chair began to move on its own and some of the actors were attacked by something invisible. Especially young actress Makenna Grace, who somehow ended up with a cut on her head and later had a nosebleed.

There is no shortage of such examples and we could devote the entire article to them, however, as they say, the worst thing happened to the crew of the film “The Omen” , released in 1976 (Paranormal News - paranormal-news.ru).

Let us briefly remind you of the main plot of the film. US Senator Robert Thorne gives birth to a son, who is killed by a midwife who claims the baby was stillborn. She then convinces Thorne and his wife to adopt another child, who is actually the Antichrist. When the child grows up a little. Thorne realizes who he is and, with the help of several other people, seeks a way to deal with him before he reaches his full power. In turn, the defenders of the little Antichrist are trying to prevent them.

The film's lead actor, Gregory Peck (who played Thorne), experienced a terrible family tragedy just 2 months before filming of The Omen began - his 30-year-old son Jonathan shot himself in the head. And a few months after that, when Gregory Peck was flying on a plane to London, the plane was struck by lightning and there was a lot of worry about whether he could fly, and if he did, whether he could land.

Just a couple of weeks after the lightning and plane incident, the same thing happened to the plane the film's executive producer Mace Newfield was flying on. Lightning struck this plane while landing at Los Angeles Airport.

In both cases, everything went well with the lightning and no one was hurt, but there is another, much more terrible moment. A small plane was chartered to transport members of the film crew. But literally at the last minute something didn’t work out and the management canceled the flight on this plane and chose another flight. And when the first plane took off with other passengers, it had no sooner taken off than it crashed. Everyone on board died.

And when the film's producer, Harvey Bernhard, was filming some scenes for The Sign in Rome, he was also struck by lightning. More precisely, it hit very close to him, only miraculously not hitting him. “The devil is at work, he doesn’t want this film to come out,” Bernhard joked darkly after this incident, and then admitted that from then on he began to carry a cross with him when he came to film “The Sign.”

John Richardson, a special effects artist who also worked on the scene with the beheading of one of the characters in the film, shortly after filming ended, was involved in a terrible car accident, which, by the way, occurred on Friday the 13th. Richardson himself survived the accident, but his friend Liz Moore died. And not just like that, but she was beheaded.

An even stranger, spine-tingling fact is that Richardson saw a sign near the accident site that read “Ommen, 66.6 km.” That was the name of a Dutch city, not far from which they were traveling.

In the scene where actor Gregory Peck is attacked by Rottweilers, a stuntman was used, but it still turned out to be dangerous, the dogs bit through the protective fabric and inflicted many wounds on the man. Fortunately, he did not die.

One of the less fortunate crew members was animal trainer Sydney Bamfield, who helped out with the crazy baboons during filming. A tiger attacked him and inflicted mortal wounds on him.
