Temple of the Icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost”

built with donations from donors in 1996-2000. It has two altars: in the name of the icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost” and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The inside of the temple is painted.

History[edit]

The current brick Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God of the Seek of the Lost is double-altared. The Main Altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God of the Seek of the Lost, was consecrated by the Hierarchal rank on November 6, 2000 - by the Administrator of the Cheboksary-Chuvash Diocese, Metropolitan Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvashia. The throne in honor of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra the Wonderworker, was consecrated by the Hierarchal rank of Metropolitan Varnava on June 17, 2002. The wooden Church, which operated earlier than the existing brick Church, was first located in the city of Novocheboksarsk, in the Church of St. Equal to the Apostles Prince. Vladimir, and in 1996 it was dismantled, transported and assembled in the city of Cheboksary. It served as a Parish Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God of the Search for the Lost, until the construction and consecration of the brick Church.

The Parish of the Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God Recovering the Lost, the city of Cheboksary, was formed on July 10, 1996, when at the Parish meeting the Charter of the Parish of the Church was adopted, and on July 11, 1996, the Charter was approved by the Administrator of the Cheboksary-Chuvash Diocese, Metropolitan Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvashia.

The Charter of the Parish of the Church was registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Chuvash Republic on July 12, 1996. In connection with the adoption on April 9, 1998, by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Unified Charter of Parishes, the Charter of the Parish of the Church was re-registered on October 27, 1999.

The rector of the Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God for the Recovery of the Lost from the first day of the formation of the Parish of the Church is Metropolitan Varnava.

The foundation stone for the Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God of the Search for the Lost was consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' ALEXI II, on his first visit in the history of the Diocese - June 25, 1996, at 15:00, in the concelebration of the Administrator of the Cheboksary-Chuvash Diocese, Metropolitan Barnabas, Archbishop Sergius of Solnechnogorsk, Archbishop Anastasy of Kazan, Bishop Proclus of Ulyanovsk, Bishop John of Yoshkar-Ola, clergy accompanying His Holiness the Patriarch, numerous clergy of the Cheboksary-Chuvash Diocese, in the presence of the President of the Chuvash Republic Nikolai Vasilievich Fedorov, Head of the Administration of the President of the Chuvash Republic , Head of the city administration Cheboksary, numerous parishioners and residents of the city of Cheboksary and the Chuvash Republic.

A metal capsule with a document containing the following content was placed in the foundation stone of the Church:

“In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, this Church was founded in honor and memory of the Icon of the Mother of God called the Recovery of the Lost, under the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' ALEXIE II, under the Hierarchship of His Eminence Barnabas, Metropolitan of Cheboksary and Chuvashia, under the President of the Chuvash Republic Nikolai Vasilyevich Fedorov in the year from the creation of the world 7504, from the birth according to the flesh of God the Word 1996 June 25.”

The diploma was signed by Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' ALEXIY II, Administrator of the Cheboksary-Chuvash Diocese, Metropolitan Varnava, President of the Chuvash Republic N.V. Fedorov.

The Church project was developed by architects of the city of Cheboksary under the leadership of Vladimir Vasilyevich Tsyplenkov.

On January 4, 1997, Archpriest Gennady Antonov consecrated the wooden Church and began Divine services in the Parish in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God Seek the Lost.

Construction of the brick Church began in December 1996, when a foundation pit was dug and 198 reinforced concrete piles were driven into the ground.

On November 6, 2000, on the day of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God Joy of All Who Sorrow, in the year of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus', Metropolitan Varnava of Cheboksary and Chuvash, consecrated the main altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God Recovering the Lost in the new brick Church. During the consecration, the relics of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon were placed into the Thrones of the Church by Vladika Barnabas.

Current state[edit]

A Sunday school has been operating at the church since 2005. Classes are held on Sundays throughout the year. In addition to classes, there are handicraft classes and various excursions and hikes. There is a library at the Sunday school. Every year at Christmas and Easter there are festive performances for parishioners and Sunday school children.

The Orthodox youth club at the parish church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God Searching for the Lost began its activities in September 2007. Among the club members there are guys both churchgoers and those starting their spiritual life. In this way, experience is exchanged and a favorable circle of communication is created for Orthodox youth. In addition, the club is a place where children from Sunday school can eventually come.

Also at the temple there are:

  •  Pilgrimage trips;
  •  Missionary work in a republican psychiatric hospital;
  •  Missionary work in the Kuges special (correctional) boarding school;
  •  Periodic excursions to art exhibitions and museums are also organized. Several times in the winter - ice skating and skiing, and in the summer - walks around the city, hiking in nature.

On October 6, early in the morning, Pierre left the booth and, returning back, stopped at the door, playing with a long purple dog on short crooked legs that was spinning around him. Everything was a matter of pleasure for her. Now, squealing with joy, she lay on her back, now she was basking in the sun with a thoughtful and significant look, now she was frolicking, playing with a sliver of wood or a straw. Pierre's attire now consisted of a dirty, torn shirt, the only remnant of his previous dress, soldier's trousers, tied with strings at the ankles for warmth on Karataev's advice, a caftan and a peasant's hat. Pierre changed a lot physically during this time. He no longer seemed fat, although he still had the same appearance of size and strength that was hereditary to their breed. The sight of these bare feet reminded him of everything that he had experienced and understood during this time, and this memory was pleasant to him. The weather had been calm and clear for several days, with light frosts in the mornings - the so-called Indian summer. It was warm in the air, in the sun, and this warmth, with the invigorating freshness of the morning frost still felt in the air, was especially pleasant. Everything, both distant and nearby objects, had that magical crystal shine that only happens at this time of autumn. In the distance one could see the Sparrow Hills, with a village, a church and a large white house. And bare trees, and sand, and stones, and roofs of houses, and the green spire of a church, and the corners of a distant white house - all this was unnaturally clearly cut out in the thinnest lines in the transparent air. Nearby could be seen the familiar ruins of a half-burnt manor house, occupied by the French, with dark green lilac bushes growing along the fence. And even this ruined and dirty house, repulsive with its ugliness in cloudy weather, now, in its bright, motionless brilliance, seemed somehow soothingly beautiful.
