    Prayer book in Russian

    Morning prayers

Rising from sleep, before doing anything else, stand reverently, presenting yourself before the All-Seeing God, and, making the sign of the cross, say:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then wait a little until all your feelings come to silence and your thoughts leave everything earthly, and then say the following prayers, without haste and with heartfelt attention.
    The Publican's Prayer
(Gospel of Luke, chapter 18, verse 13)

    [1]

God, be merciful to me, a sinner!
    (Bow) Initial prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit [2]
Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, existing everywhere and filling everything with Himself, Source of blessings and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.
    Trisagion [3]
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

(Read three times, with the sign of the cross and a bow from the waist).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now, and always, and forever and ever.
Amen. Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity
Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, come and heal our infirmities, for Thy Name's sake!

    Lord have mercy.
(Thrice) Glory, And now[4]. The Lord's Prayer (given to us by Jesus Christ)
Our Father who art in heaven!
Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us our daily bread for this day; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and do not let us fall into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Troparia to the Most Holy Trinity
Rising from sleep, we fall before You, O Good One, and offer an angelic song to You, O Mighty One: Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us.

Glory: You raised me from the sleep of the night, O Lord, enlighten my mind and my heart and open my lips to sing to You, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and everyone’s deeds will be laid bare, but we also call with fear at midnight: Holy, holy, holy You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!

    Lord have mercy.
(12 times) Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity
Having risen from sleep, I thank You, Holy Trinity, for through Your great goodness and long-suffering, You, Lord, were not angry with me, lazy and sinful, and did not destroy me with my iniquities, but as always showed Your love for mankind, and raised me from the sleep of the night so that I would offer up the morning prayer to You and glorify Your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth to learn Your words, and to understand Your commandments, and to do Your will, and, confessing You with all my heart, to sing Your all-holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages. centuries. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King - God. (Bow)

Come, let us bow and fall before Christ, our King - God. (Bow)

Come, let us bow and fall before Christ Himself, our King and God.
    (Bow) Psalm 50
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your compassions, cleanse my iniquities.
Wash me from all my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned only before You, and I have done evil before You, so You are right in Your verdict and just in Your judgment. From my very birth I have been guilty before You; I am a sinner from my conception in my mother’s womb. But You love the sincere in heart and reveal to them the secrets of wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will become whiter than snow. Return joy and gladness to my soul, and my bones, broken by You, will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with Your Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from premature death, O God, God is my salvation, and my tongue will praise Your righteousness. God! Open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice - I would give it - and You do not favor burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; God will not despise a contrite and humble heart. Renew, O God, by Thy mercy Zion, erect the walls of Jerusalem. Then righteous sacrifices will be acceptable to You; then they will lay sacrifices to You on Your altar. Symbol of Faith
I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, everything visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten of the Father before the beginning of time; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not created, consubstantial with the Father, through whom all things were created.

For us, for the sake of people and for our salvation, who came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried, and rose again on the third day, as the Scriptures foretold. And ascended into heaven and reigns with the Father. And He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead; His kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, with the Father and the Son, equally worshiped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets.

Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen. Prayer 1, Saint Macarius the Great
God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have never done anything truly good before You: but deliver me from all evil, and Thy will be done in me, so that I will uncondemnably open my unworthy lips and praise the name Your Holy One, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, now and always and unto ages of ages.
    Amen. Prayer 2,
having risen from sleep from the same saint, I offer a song of prayer to You, My Savior, and, falling down, I beg You: do not let me fall asleep in sinful death, but have pity on me, O voluntarily Crucified, and on me, lying in laziness, arise quickly and save me in standing before You and in prayer and in my sleep at night, so that a sinless day may dawn on me, O Christ God, and save me.
Prayer 3, of the same saint
To You, Master Lover of Mankind, having risen from sleep, I turn my thoughts and feelings, and I take up Your works according to Your mercy, and I pray to You: help me at all times and in every matter, and deliver me from all the evil of this world and from participation in the works of the devil, and save me and bring me into Your eternal Kingdom.
For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of all good, and all my hope is in You, and I offer glory to You, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen. Prayer 4, of the same holy
Lord, according to Your many goodness and according to Your great generosity, You have given me, Your servant, the passing time of this night to pass through without misfortune from all evil: You Yourself, Master, Creator of the whole world, illuminate me with Your true light, and help those with an enlightened heart to do Your will, now and always and forever and ever.
    Amen. Prayer 5, St.
Basil the Great Lord Almighty, God of ethereal forces and all flesh, living in the highest and having mercy on the humble, and knowing the very depths of human hearts, You are the Beginningless and Eternal Light, in which there is neither change nor the slightest darkness; Himself, Immortal King, now accept from us, in response to the multitude of Your bounty, our prayers brought to You from evil lips, and forgive us our sins, in deed, word, and thought, whether we have sinned in knowledge or ignorance, and cleanse us from all defilement of flesh and spirit. And grant us, with a watchful heart and a sober mind, to go through the whole night of our earthly life, awaiting the coming of the bright and glorious day of Your Only Begotten Son, our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ, on which He, the Judge of all, will come with glory, to render to everyone according to their deeds. his; may He find us not fallen and lazy, but cheerful and ready to do, may we enter into the joy of the Divine palace of His glory, where those who celebrate the unceasing voice and inexpressible joy of those who see Your face, kindness beyond words. For You are the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying everyone, and all creation glorifies You forever and ever. Amen.

Victoria Milevskaya - Prayers for all occasions

    1 …

    Victoria Milevskaya

    Prayers for all occasions

Ascension from the authentic Self. Preface

We don’t notice how often we mentally and out loud remember the Almighty. Most of these commemorations sound like an exclamation or a link between words and, of course, have nothing to do with spiritual aspiration. We grab onto God’s name casually, like a railing out of the blue, endlessly violating the commandment “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain...” And what does it mean to say it in vain? Who or what can grant the right to appeal to the Lord and establish the rules for this appeal, if the Father is One?

Each of us has experienced love and knows the trepidation with which the name of a loved one is mentioned. Everyone knows what emotional connotations the words “father” and “mother” take on when you talk about your parents. If relationships with loved ones have not worked out or have gone wrong, a void is formed, and the attempt to communicate and communicate is unnaturally strained: in order to overcome the void, you must take a running start every time. The best moments of communication with loved ones come when relationships are well established, when people know each other and constantly need each other. One of the important conditions for attraction and intimacy is that loved ones are mutually interesting - as individuals. In love, in an environment of spiritual attraction, we manage to identify our own best traits and see ourselves through the eyes of a loved one. These are all truisms, but beyond the truths it remains that the Lord is also a person. And before turning to Him, you need to lay down the most important - in any human destiny - interpersonal relationships. The work of prayer begins with the search for these relationships.

The Lord is always simple, but we are not well complicated and do not know how to accept His absolute spiritual simplicity. We are accustomed to introducing games into all human relationships and, if we want, we guess how to play successfully so as not to spoil the relationship.

We manifest our personality in such a variety of ways that we no longer know which manifestation defines us to the greatest extent, which of our manifestations should we take for the Lord so as not to offend Him with our unreal self? And will we be interesting to Him in the way that we are interesting to other individuals? Prayerful work, like any work, cannot be done without training, without teachers, without prior reflection about God and about oneself, a sinful and unfamiliar person.

In his essay “Prayer and Life,” Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh identified for himself and for many the initial steps that a Christian must overcome on the path of prayer.

The first step is to get to know yourself - for the Lord: “... in the depths of our being we are created in the image of God and this stripping (taking off (clothes). - Note) of everything unnecessary is very similar to clearing away a beautiful ancient wall painting or a painting of a great master, which for centuries, on top of the true beauty created by the master, was painted over by people lacking taste. At first, the more we clear, the more emptiness appears, and it seems to us that we have only spoiled where there was at least some beauty; maybe a little, but at least some. And then we begin to discover the true beauty that the great master put into his work; we see squalor, then confusion in between, but at the same time we can predict true beauty. And then we discover what we are: a wretched creature who needs God, but needs Him not in order to fill the void, but in order to meet Him. So, let's get down to this (reflecting on ourselves. - Approx.) and, in addition, every evening for a week we will pray with these very simple words: “ Help me, God, free myself from everything counterfeit and find my true “I”.” .

The second step is more difficult than the first: find the Lord. Everything we know about Him will be little from our experience: the Lord is ahead of our ideas, and it is impossible to guess by how much. But He opened up and never ceases to open up to many. The earthly life of the Savior, the Transfiguration of the Lord on Mount Tabor, miracles performed through the prayers of believers testify to this. How can you recognize the Lord without confusing His true face with your idea of Him? “To give you support in this effort, I invite you to pray for one week with the following words: “ Help me, God, to free myself from every false image of You, no matter what the cost to me” (Fr. Anthony of Sourozh).

Love presupposes complete openness of relationships. We reveal everything that we have managed to understand about ourselves before God. The Lord knows us even before any confession, but the heart becomes light when the secret is spoken out loud before His Face. How long this lightness will last depends on us. New human concerns give rise to new mysteries. The third step is to shift the burden of our worries onto the Almighty, that is, to trust Him completely. The next prayer is Fr. Antonia sounds like this: “Help me, God, to leave all my worries and focus my thoughts on You Alone.”

Our prayer book has been compiled so that the search for words to address the Savior and the Heavenly Powers does not interfere with the concentration of thought, spiritual aspiration, and the free and ardent flow of the prayer flow.

The instructions of church educators given in this book will help you understand the joy of prayer work. And the experience of Christian prayer, given in the stories of believers, will help us seek the intercession of the Mother of God and Orthodox saints - for us before the Lord.

In the book you will find:

    • Canonical texts of church prayers and prayers composed by Orthodox educators.

    • Instructions from church teachers on how to pray in church and how to read cell (home) prayers.

    • Explanations of which saints should be approached with a request for healing or help in difficult life situations.

    • Addresses of monasteries and churches storing Orthodox shrines - the relics of the righteous and famous icons, for pilgrimage prayer.

Prayer is a state of being “in spirit and truth”

The schema-abbot of the Optina Hermitage, the Monk Anthony, said that “one should get up to pray hastily, as if there were a fire.” This is not just about Christian hard work and obedience. Prayer is a meeting with fire - a burning thorn bush, in the form of which the Lord first appeared to Moses at the foot of Mount Sinai.

When the Lord wrote the Ten Commandments on the tablets, Sinai stood in fire and smoke, lightning flashed in the sky. Moses took the tablets, trembling. The same trepidation was experienced by the people waiting for the tablet at the foot. Explaining the essence of prayer, Anthony of Sourozh wrote: “You can often hear: “Learn to pray!” Praying is so interesting, so exciting, it is the discovery of a new world, you will meet God, you will find the path to spiritual life.” In a sense this is, of course, true; but at the same time something much more serious is forgotten: that prayer is a dangerous journey, and we cannot embark on it without risk... According to the word of Scripture, God is fire. And unless we are ready to completely surrender to the divine flame and become a bush burning in the desert that burned without being consumed, this flame will scorch us, because the experience of prayer can only be known from the inside and cannot be joked with.”

The experience of humble prayer - in a difficult life situation, in ill health, in the imaginary absence of a future - often turns out to be the most significant manifestation of life. But the Lord heard our prayers, circumstances are in our favor - but there is no complete happiness, monotonous days pass in petty vanity. It is impossible to recognize the Savior and limit oneself in communication with him without compromising mental health. Position in society, work, amount of knowledge (including religious) cannot be compared with live communication with Heavenly Father. For a Christian, the Savior is a beloved person, and the journey of life is completed with His participation. Separation threatens internal discord, as if separated from the family, and it is impossible to adapt to this kind of loneliness.

Anthony of Sourozh (1914–2003) - Orthodox bishop, philosopher, preacher, honorary doctor of sciences of the Moscow and Kyiv Theological Academies, Cambridge University. Born in France (secular name - Andrey Bloom), has Scottish roots. He received education as a doctor and biologist. In 1939, he took monastic vows and went to the front as a military surgeon. After the war he was sent to England to perform church service. Since 1962, Archbishop of the Sourozh Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in London. During his ministry, hundreds of Englishmen were attracted to the fold of the Orthodox Church.

In June 1990, at the Local Council he was nominated as an additional candidate for the Patriarchal throne of the Russian Orthodox Church, but was not approved due to lack of Soviet citizenship (the 1990 Local Council elected Alexy II as Patriarch of the church).
