How is fasting and lean nutrition beneficial for our health?

Friends, hello everyone! Let's talk today about the benefits of lean nutrition?

It so happened that my body detox program coincided with the approaching Christmas fast.

And the third stage of body cleansing involved giving up meat and dairy products.

I’ll tell you more about this in one of the following posts, and in this one I’ll share with you information about how lean nutrition in general is beneficial for our body and good health.

How is lean nutrition beneficial for the human body?

What kind of food is called lean?

Let's immediately define what lean nutrition is.

Lenten nutrition is the consumption of exclusively plant foods:

  • You eat everything that belongs to plant foods: all cereals, vegetables, herbs, fruits, berries. As well as nuts, seeds, mushrooms, legumes and vegetable oil.
  • You exclude everything that relates to animal food: meat, milk and dairy products, poultry, fish, eggs.

To fast or not - what is all this for?

The fact that fasting is beneficial for our body is no longer news to anyone. This is a fact that is not in doubt.

Lenten nutrition, as a temporary diet, is supported and approved not only by clergy, who know and talk about the fact that this method of cleansing the spirit and body has a centuries-old history.

Doctors speak unanimously about the benefits of lean food: nutritionists, therapists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, etc.

Active “defenders” of a lean diet are nutritionists. They don’t just say that this is a good way of temporary nutrition, they persistently recommend such a diet to their patients and assure that this is an ideal way to help your body cleanse itself of toxins and unload it, that is, to give a kind of “respite” to the entire digestive system.

Medical scientists have long identified the most important root causes of all diseases without exception. These are nervous exhaustion, poisoning of the body with toxins and poisons (toxemia) and overeating.

Science assures us that if it were not for these factors that damage our health, then a person could live peacefully for 100, 150, or even more years!

As you understand, we are talking about a QUALITY life, an active life, in active cheerfulness, energy and good health, receiving pleasure, joy and satisfaction from your life every day!!!

Important conditions for any post

So, let’s take a closer look at the basic conditions of any fast that lead to a healthier body:

  • Moderation in nutrition is the key to health!

An important “condition” of any fast is MODERATION.

Fasting time implies a conscious attitude towards everything you do, and some limitation in quantity: the amount of food, the amount of entertainment, etc.

Not cutting back in the sense of depriving yourself of the essentials, no. It’s just a calm and conscious attitude towards all life processes. This includes a conscious and moderate attitude towards what we eat every day.

How fasting will help in this case: exactly the time allotted for fasting is given to us by nature itself so that we become more conscious of HOW MUCH we eat. So that we, at least a little, reduce our portions and understand how beneficial this is for our body, with what gratitude our body responds to slightly reduced portions and lighter food than usual!

During fasting, the volume of the stomach will decrease and the need for food will decrease significantly. A diet consisting of cereals and vegetables with herbs (carbohydrates + coarse fiber) gives a wonderful feeling of fullness for almost the whole day.

  • Calm, just calm!

Any fast is repentance, calmness and conscious refusal of any type of “food stimulants”

I won’t “surprise” you and tell you for a long time that all diseases are caused by nerves, we all know this and understand it well. And, nevertheless, this is not just a big, but I would say a HUGE problem in our time.

It is difficult, very difficult to protect yourself as much as possible from the stresses that happen in our lives every day! And here, defend yourself - don’t defend yourself, they will still be there, we live in a living life, and in it, anything can happen.

Any emotional instability, all kinds of worries, fears and worries only get worse if, trying to somehow cheer ourselves up, encourage, calm, remove excess nervous tension, etc., we begin:

  • Drink coffee, tea and energy drinks immoderately to cheer yourself up,
  • eat chocolates, trying to “eat” your fears and uncertainty about the future,
  • smoking and drinking alcohol, trying to somehow relax...

And now - the worst thing: as a rule, all people do what is listed above AT THE SAME TIME and EVERY DAY!

In the morning - coffee to cheer up and wake up. At lunch - coffee to continue working. With chocolate as an illusion that everything is not so bad and life can be sweet... And in the evening - beer and a smoke to “relax” after all the stress...

Well, we are no longer talking about proper nutrition. Once.

And as a result, young people look like old people, with circles under their eyes and shaking hands, because this lifestyle greatly exhausts the nervous system and significantly reduces the level of nervous energy reserves.

How fasting will help in this case: fasting implies a conscious refusal of any type of stimulants (coffee, alcohol, strong tea, energy drinks, smoking, etc.), especially in NOT moderate quantities.

So, the next plus in the treasury of lean nutrition.

  • Proper and balanced nutrition improves health!

It’s not just overeating, alcohol and smoking that causes the body to become overloaded with toxins.

Our nutrition is of enormous importance here.

Unfortunately, for most people it is not healthy and balanced, and this leads to the following problems:

  1. Eating monotonous food that is poor in vitamins and minerals, consuming large amounts of fast food and all kinds of processed foods, carbonated drinks and crisps, leads to the fact that a person, intuitively trying to make up for this deficiency, eats much more than necessary, and is NOT healthy and NOT proper food...
  2. Such food, extremely poor in fiber, complex carbohydrates and vitamins, does not keep you full for a long time, but is too fatty and high in calories, and this again leads to overeating and obesity. Vicious circle…
  3. It is difficult for the body to cope with all this disgrace.
  4. And in order to somehow “survive” and continue to function, it begins to store part of this unnecessary in the form of fatty deposits, and part of it remains undigested, deposited in the form of waste and toxins, thereby disrupting the functioning of all organs and systems and leading to many diseases.

The whole process of daily intoxication is aggravated by unfavorable environmental conditions, various toxic gases, nitrate pesticides from food, heavy metals, as well as excessive use of a huge amount of medications.

How fasting will help in this case: the time of any fasting is a time for cleansing. It is recommended to structure your daily diet in such a way that your body gets what it needs from food. So that the food is as simple and healthy as possible, light, does not overload our digestive system, does not take away from us the strength and energy that the body needs during this period in order to thoroughly cleanse, heal and establish good functioning of all internal organs and systems.

Lenten food consists mainly of cereals, fruits and vegetables.

This is a healthy diet, as it contains many vitamins, minerals, fiber, which is considered the body’s “master cleanser” of toxins and toxic waste that rot and decompose in our intestines

But he simply cannot cope with getting them out in a timely manner...

Coarse fiber from consumed vegetables, herbs and the shells of whole grain porridges is a kind of “broom” for our intestines. This is both a “scraper” and a “sponge”: absorbing toxins like a sponge, coarse fiber then acts like a scraper and cleanses everything unnecessary from the intestinal walls, then carrying it out of the body.

If you eat enough coarse fiber, the intestines will work “like a clock,” and toxins will not accumulate in our body and poison it. As a result, we will feel good and look great.

  • Therapeutic fasting to cleanse the body!

During fasting, one-day abstinence from food is highly recommended, when no food or drink enters the body except clean water.

If it is difficult to fast on water, then you can spend one day on freshly squeezed juices, herbal tea, or create your own menu from some very light foods.

Such food abstinence in itself is very useful. Fasting cures many diseases, and eating lean food after fasting enhances this effect many times over.

Effect on the heart

Alcohol-containing substances, passing through the esophagus and entering the stomach, are easily absorbed into the circulatory system, and this has a detrimental effect not only on the digestive system, but also on the cardiovascular system. Why is drinking alcohol dangerous for the latter? The fact is that ethanol is a hemolytic poison that destroys red blood cells - erythrocytes. Their destruction, in turn, leads to a dangerous phenomenon - toxic hemolytic anemia (an abnormal, sharp decrease in the level of red blood cells).

Frequent drinking causes an increase in blood levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), a class of lipoproteins that transport cholesterol. An increase in the amount of cholesterol leads to alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a disease that affects both the heart and the entire cardiovascular system and often leads to disability and even death due to acute progressive heart failure.

Alcohol is also dangerous to health because its abuse contributes to the development of pathologies such as:

  • cardiac ischemia;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • arrhythmia;
  • vascular disorders;
  • heart attack;
  • stroke.

Why exclude meat from your diet during fasting?

The task of lean nutrition is to cleanse our body, and for this we need to relieve our body as much as possible and facilitate its work.

In order for him to release more energy for all cleansing processes.

The most quickly digestible and easiest food is plant food.

Food of animal origin is heavier, it takes a long time to digest, takes a long time to absorb, and the body spends a lot of energy on its processing. We don’t need this at this time; it will only slow down the entire process of our unloading.

Moreover, it is believed that the consumed plant food itself cleanses our body, as it acts on the cells of our body, alkalizing them.

And animal food is highly acidifying, and in itself it greatly pollutes the body.

Fanaticism in this regard is not welcome, and one should not rush to extremes, completely and permanently refusing food of animal origin. Everything is good in moderation.

Fasting is a temporary measure. This is the period that we give our body as an opportunity to cleanse it.

To put it simply, by eating purely plant foods, cleansing is much more effective, and we can do it in a shorter time than if we combine it.

Where to get protein during fasting?

“You can’t live without meat, there’s protein!?” This question worries a lot of people.

Many people do not dare to fast because they are very afraid that giving up meat is harmful to health, since meat contains the protein we need and many other useful substances.

Yes, that's right, BUT:

  1. Firstly, fasting is, as stated above, a temporary measure in order to unload and cleanse the body more efficiently. In order to “restart” our metabolic processes again, just like we restart our computer if it starts to malfunction.
  2. Secondly, we are not left without protein. A well-designed daily diet requires the obligatory consumption of a sufficient amount of legumes, greens, nuts and seeds. These products contain the maximum amount of protein. There is more of it in legumes and greens than in meat and fish!

Cereals, nuts and seeds also contain protein, and quite a bit.

And the body, strictly speaking, does not need a large amount of protein for daily life, unless you are an athlete or have very hard physical work.

Who benefits from fasting?

So, who benefits from fasting and what are the benefits of fasting:

  • Obese and overweight people

For obese and overweight people, fasting is an excellent opportunity to regain their normal weight without putting stress on their body, which always happens when following various unbalanced diets, which only further aggravate their health condition.

They also weaken the hormonal system, significantly reduce immunity and add other unpleasant things to a person’s life.

  • People who are underweight

For people who are underweight or painfully thin, fasting is an opportunity to improve metabolism in the body, give it temporary rest and a chance to recover.

In a huge number of too thin people, after fasting, the body regains its normal and healthy weight.

  • People with weak immune systems

For people with weak immunity, who are constantly sick and catch colds, fasting is an opportunity to make the immune system stronger and the body healthier.

  • People with gastrointestinal diseases

For people suffering from gastrointestinal diseases, fasting is an opportunity to eat lighter and healthier foods for a while, which means feeling much better (but first you need to consult your doctor or nutritionist!).

  • For those who want to cleanse the body and improve well-being

For people who want to cleanse their body and improve their well-being, but are not ready for any drastic measures for this (fasting, eating juices, fasting days on apples, etc.).

How is fasting useful for a person?

Fasting is a great opportunity:

  1. train your willpower,
  2. finally start losing weight (getting younger, getting healthier, strengthening the body, cleansing),
  3. spend much less time cooking than usual,
  4. every day enjoy a feeling of lightness in your stomach and a fresh complexion,
  5. become more calm, because eating plant foods reduces anxiety levels, these are not just words, these are official scientific research data!
  6. spend much less on food than before (of course, we are not talking about eating kilograms of avocados and pine nuts, but beets, carrots, cabbage and all kinds of cereals are available to everyone!),
  7. The time that was previously spent on long preparations and subsequent long meals can finally be spent on something that you have wanted to do for so long!

Prejudice and misconceptions regarding lean nutrition

Many people have doubts about fasting:

  • “I can’t, I won’t stand it!”

Many are afraid to fast because they think that it is difficult and they simply cannot “experience the pangs of hunger” for so long...

In fact, this is an illusion.

As mentioned above, eating cereals, vegetables, herbs and nuts gives such a feeling of fullness, lightness and vigor that you will be very surprised if you try to eat in such a way that without meat you can be satiated so quickly and for a long time!

  • “Lean food is not tasty!”

Delicious, very tasty! Moreover, this is such a variety that you cannot even imagine! I will definitely share such recipes with you!

One of my friends has always been quite skeptical about such nutrition, and in general, about everything related to nutrition (proper nutrition), she said that it is not tasty, boring, insipid, and life is one and I want to live it juicy, bright and tasty.

How surprised I was recently to learn that “she goes there too”!

We sat, drank tea, she treated me to all sorts of PP-delicacies that she had prepared herself, and said embarrassedly: “Yes, I didn’t believe all this before, but now I took it, got into it, became interested, and it turned out that PP-nutrition - it's so delicious, it's so varied!

I have mastered so many new recipes! Now I only cook PP, even my husband eats it and likes it, but before, he didn’t eat anything except sausage with bread and dumplings!” I was surprised!

I have a lot of friends who, having once tried lean nutrition, are now waiting - they can’t wait, well, when will the next fast begin!

And, you know, most of them never returned to their previous diet.

During the time that the first period of fasting in their lives lasted, they very seriously revised their diet, and many of them changed it in the most dramatic way.

Many people have lost weight and become prettier, and have maintained their weight for quite some time.

I am still amazed at the willpower of some of them: one of my friends was a strong meat eater, he loved to eat, he was overweight and had a limp (there was something wrong with his legs). And then I meet him – he’s running in the morning! I also fast regularly, I lost weight, looked younger and my eyes sparkled! These are the results!

Why is alcohol dangerous for the skin? The thing is that people who drink significantly increase their blood capillaries and vessels, and their blood flow accelerates. After all, you yourself have often seen how a person’s cheeks turn pink after the first couple of glasses. After a couple of hours, the complexion returns to normal, but the blood vessels still remain dilated. Over time, the redness becomes chronic - rosacea develops, and vascular networks appear. At stages III - IV of alcoholism, the face acquires a bluish tint, and characteristic puffiness becomes noticeable.

Another terrible harm of alcohol to the skin can be considered an increase in the level of anger and stress and, accordingly, the release of male sex hormones. An increase in the amount of androgens in a number of people causes rashes - acne. In addition, alcohol contributes to dehydration of the body, which can cause dermatitis to worsen, swelling, cellulite and dry skin to appear.

Alcohol with a high sugar content (wine, beer) destroys collagen, which significantly reduces skin elasticity and contributes to its aging.

If you seriously care about the condition of your body, then it is best to give up such a product as alcohol forever.

Remember that fasting is not a diet

Fasting, first of all, is not a refusal to eat, but a spiritual work that does not depend on the contents of the plate.
If you want to fast, structure your diet so that thoughts about food do not distract from your thoughts. Try to eat varied and as balanced as possible. Don't forget about sources of protein and try to include more fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet. Tags:
