Jesus' last words on earth. Seven words of the Savior on the cross. Hieromonk Dometian, Novosibirsk

The last days of the life of Jesus Christ

Before delving into the words that Jesus Christ spoke, we need to remember that he was condemned by three courts. The charge was serious - for equating oneself with God.

From the age of 30, Christ served the people - he preached Christian teaching, healed people, which is associated with many miraculous stories, and more and more people followed him.

According to the Jews, no one could call himself the Son of God, be higher than the King and have a strong influence on the people.

Julius KAROLSFELD. Jesus before Caiaphas. Matthew 26:57-66

Jesus was betrayed by one of his followers, Judas, captured, subjected to several trials: by the Sanhedrin - the supreme court - and ultimately condemned by the procurator Pontius Pilate and the people to execution on Mount Calvary.

When Jesus Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said that His death was God's will

“And going away a little, he fell on his face, praying and saying: My Father! if possible, let this cup pass from Me; however, not as I want, but as You want.” (Matthew 26:39)

“Another time, going away, he prayed, saying: My Father! if this cup cannot pass from Me, lest I drink it, Thy will be done.” (Matthew 26:42)

“And leaving them, he went away again and prayed a third time, saying the same word.” (Matthew 26:44)

Last words of Jesus Christ

The Gospels say: the suffering of the crucified man lasted 6 hours and in the last moments of his life Jesus Christ uttered 7 phrases in which mercy, patience, genuine suffering, and awareness of sacrifice in the name of the people are read.

First word: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34)

In these words lies the forgiveness of the Lord, who protects the human race. Protects even those who cause great evil and commit sin.

Even while enduring inhuman suffering, Jesus Christ thought about unreasonable humanity, because so often people unknowingly commit sin, but goodness and reason must always prevail.

These words give us a good moral lesson: not to push away non-believers who have stumbled or sinned; they teach every Orthodox Christian to be patient with the people around him.

Vasily Golynsky. Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Work no later than 1904

Second word: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43)

Jesus was crucified along with two thieves and his cross stood in the middle.

At some point, one of the villains, seeing what was happening, mocked and said, “Save us, since you are God,” and the second cried out to Christ: “Remember me, Lord, when you come into your kingdom,” and then the second word was said:

“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

(Luke 23:43)

Here lies the true mercy of the Lord and an indication of sincere repentance and confession.

These words give hope to sinners - if faith is sincere and from a pure heart, then everyone has hope for redemption of sins and salvation.

Of course, this does not mean that you can do evil on purpose and then repent, because this implies malicious intent. These words are about salvation.

The third word was: “Wife! Behold your son. Behold your mother! (John 19, 26-27)

These words were addressed to his mother, Mary, who stood next to Christ’s beloved disciple, John the Theologian. Thus, he wanted to console her, asking John to become Mary’s own son and surround her with human care.

These words show with what respect and love you should treat your parents, even if you yourself are experiencing suffering.

The meaning of the last three words before the death of Jesus is in all-encompassing Love for all people - addressed to people - both enemies, and mother, and the sinner who was next to him.

Fourth word: “My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me? (Matt. 27:46)

In these words one can feel sadness and sorrow, despair. He was left completely alone, although his relatives and followers were next to him. But we are talking about Jesus Christ, who came to our world to atone for the sins of all mankind.

Therefore, we can turn to the interpretation of St. Athanasius the Great:

“This is the Savior speaking on behalf of humanity,

and to put an end to the oath and turn the Father's face to us,

asks the Father to look after

applying our need to Himself;

because we were rejected and forsaken because of Adam's transgression,

now they have been received and saved.”

Athanasius the Great

saint

Jesus' loneliness in suffering reminds us

that in His infinite love and respect for His children God,

our Father may remain silent at times,

to allow our feeble efforts to achieve a modest victory and become a symbol of "all that we can do"

after which He will save us by His almighty grace.

(2 Nephi 25:23)

If sorrow and grief befall us, if we feel the weight of our sins, distancing us from God, let us not forget that the Savior took upon ourselves our sins.

Let us not despair of our salvation, but let us not crucify God in our cold, uncompassionate heart with our new sins.

“I thirst” (John 19:28) - the fifth word of the Savior

Jesus in the human body needed the same things that ordinary people needed, so before his death he felt thirsty and said the fifth word:

“I’m thirsty”...

(John 19:28)

And in response to his request, he received a sponge with vinegar from a soldier standing next to him. Help can come if you ask for it. After all, so often we do not notice the needs of loved ones, immersed in our own affairs and thoughts.

These words of Jesus Christ have another interpretation: Jesus will unite with God, His Father. as a Savior he came to our world to atone for the sins of mankind.

Having suffered, he wished for a speedy resolution of this mission, which he knew about from the very beginning: death and subsequent resurrection.

The resurrection will mean atonement for the sins of mankind, starting with Adam and Eve.

The sixth and seventh words: “It is finished!” (John 19:30). “Father! I commit My spirit into Your hands” (Luke 23:46)

These are the last words of Jesus, symbolizing redemption and devotion to God. It has happened - the predictions from the Holy Scriptures, the end of the feat of Christ's earthly life. The Savior dies in the name of humanity.

He knows about everything that will happen, carries this knowledge throughout his life, and at the same time shows the people what a righteous life one can lead. This is how the Savior’s earthly life ended.

The seven words of the Savior on the cross are the most serious thoughts in the Orthodox faith and deserve deep understanding by all believers. Remembering all these events and words spoken by Jesus, we will remember how He loved all people, how devoted He was to God.

It is no secret that various religious concessions interpret the life and teachings of Christ in their own way. This is due to the lack and contradictory information about the events of that distant time. What is the main reason for the ongoing disputes and disagreements within the Christian church? The four canonical Gospels included in the New Testament, as time has shown, are unable to cope with this problem. The task is undoubtedly not easy, but it is quite solvable. Indeed, in addition to the well-known Gospel texts and apocrypha, the Vatican archives contain many other documents about the life of Christ that could help to understand and finally put an end to this issue. However, for many centuries now they have stubbornly refused to make them public. It seems that someone is deliberately trying to hide the truth from people. But today additional narratives about the life of Jesus fell into the hands of researchers... These miraculously preserved invaluable evidence, which became an important addition to the existing texts, made it possible to restore the true teaching of Christ, without waiting for the church to deign to make its secret materials public, and today his words sounded like a living thing, integral, and, most importantly, accessible and understandable teaching...

The true teaching of Jesus Christ, hidden by the church...:

(Sergey Funkner, 01/07/1999)

“The least faithful among you are those who pray more than others and think that from this they will be given more than others, for they themselves do not understand what they believe. As if beggars, incapable of anything else, humbly pray for the fulfillment of their desires. Why are you begging God, or do you think he was mistaken in sending you what he has and want to teach him how he should correct that mistake? So you think that your God is not intelligent. Why do you call Him God then? Why do you believe in Him and why do you pray to Him? You yourself do not know what you are bowing to and you have little true faith. I tell you that being of little faith is worse than not believing at all. For by denying God, you will come to God. Because no matter which direction on Earth you go, you will still end up at the ocean. But if your faith is weak, then you don’t go anywhere, you just sway from side to side.

Who do you go to church to listen to and worship? And who are the most revered people in it? The scribes, the Pharisees, the high priests - all of them, no matter how many of them came before me, are thieves and robbers, and worse than that, for they do not steal your bread or your gold, but your very life! With their lips and tongue they honor God, but their hearts are far from him and are likened to painted tombs, which on the outside seem beautiful, but inside are full of the bones of the dead and all uncleanness. And they close

Those hypocrites are the Kingdom of Heaven for people, for they themselves do not enter It and do not allow those who want to enter.
And they like people to call them Teacher, Teacher... But you don’t call them Teachers. They are the blind leaders of the blind
. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit. And for centuries they have been hiding the keys to True Knowledge and replacing them with half-truths, which they dress up in the clothes of Truth, and that is why it is more dangerous and terrible than a lie.

The Almighty is everywhere, but you should not think that you will find him in descriptions or sculptures that received their image from art and human invention. The Almighty does not live in man-made temples and He does not require the service of human hands, for He does not need anything.

.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. And the Heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. And ask not false treasures, not earthly blessings from the Heavenly Father, as sinners ask, but one thing, so that straight

made the paths leading to His Kingdom. So that you may see God during your earthly life. For if you do not see God during your life, you will not see him after...

I wish to give you faith in the very existence of the Kingdom of God, where everything abides in eternal joy and bliss. So that that faith kindles in you the fire of an unquenchable desire to find and gain Him. To believe is to taste the sweetness of unripe carrots, to test is to drink honey

.
Therefore, not only believe, but test for yourself, find and know. This is what I urge you to do. And there is no longer any need to believe in what you have learned
.
If your faith is only a crutch for a disabled person, it will be of little use. I give this crutch to a sick person not so that he will limp along the Earth with it all his life, but so that he becomes healthy. This means that he knew the Holy Spirit and entered the Kingdom of God during his earthly life. For the Kingdom of Heaven is always here, but you do not know how to enter It. And the Heaven I’m talking about is inside you and outside you. And the Kingdom of God is in this Heaven and no other. And you don’t have to go far to find it. And they won’t say whether It’s here or there. For the Kingdom of God is within you
, and you yourself do not understand what treasure you are hiding within yourself. But I am amazed at how such great wealth is contained in such poverty and misery. However, there are some who will not taste death before they see the great Kingdom.

No one is destined to become the Supreme, but everyone can become God

, for man was created in the image and likeness.
But you must first know yourself
.
When you know yourself, then you will be known and accepted by the Almighty. And you will learn that you are children of the living Father and through you, as through all his creatures, He reveals Himself. But Man is his main creation, so why are you hiding God within yourself? Show it to the world and glorify yourself and the Creator. When you know yourself, then you will find your true self
.
And all the secrets that are hidden from you will be revealed to you. If you do not know yourself, then you are in spiritual and material
and you are poverty.
If you don’t understand the beginning, then it’s impossible to understand the end. It is impossible to know what is around you if you do not know what is inside you. For then there is no knower to whom it is given to understand the secrets of the Heavenly Father. And do not separate Heaven from the Earth, for it is a continuation of the Earth, and do not separate yourself from the Earth, for you are a continuation of it, and it is a continuation of you. Therefore I say, you are the beginning of everything and the end of everything, and when you know
this, then
you will see
the Kingdom of God.

Everything that is alive and that is not alive is invisibly connected with each other. And everything separately is part of the whole. Woe to the one who creates borders on Earth and divides people. For there are no boundaries in Heaven and there should not be on Earth. Truly I tell you, this division is the cause of enmity and strife, whether it is division along borders or according to language or according to faith, everything is one. And if a person is divided within himself, then the same enmity will be within him and there will be darkness in him, and there will be no rest for him.

Don't be afraid to get lost when you look for YOUR Path. Only the strongest are capable of this. And the Shepherd loves those who have left the flock more than others, for only they are given the power to find the cherished path. It is not the cattle’s fault that they are in a pen, because the owner built the pen for them. Man, in his own shame, did what no living creature is capable of, erected a prison for himself with his own hands and placed himself in it. And grief that his children are born in this prison. They grow up and know no other life other than the life of their fathers. And after that they cannot see her, because their eyes have become blind from the darkness of imprisonment and they do not see anyone who would live differently. Therefore, they believe that their life is the only possible way of existence. For if the eyes have never seen the light, how will you know that you are in darkness?

Do not store up treasures for yourself on Earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but turn your attention to imperishable treasures. And if you have true power, then earthly desires and passions, with which it was seething like mad until now, will leave your Soul, and along with them false knowledge and judgments will leave...

A person's life does not depend on the abundance of his possessions. You worry and fuss about many things, but your Soul needs only one thing, so that the Word of God, like a seed, takes root in you and bears its fruit. Truly I tell you, he who has everything and needs himself has nothing.

And do not justify yourself by fulfilling the Law. It is given for those of little faith, in whom the Word of God does not fit, in order to protect them from crimes until they gain true understanding. The commandments are given for those who hear with their ears and do not understand, who look with their eyes and do not see, for the fulfillment of the Law cannot give life, does not bring grace and does not make one righteous. Only true faith, operating through Love, is capable of this. I give you the only commandment - LOVE

!
The whole Law and all other commandments are based on THIS commandment - her children, and she is their mother. And if the mother is in you, then all her children are in you. And there is no need to know their names when they inside
you and they are
your essence
.

I tell you, love your Father in heaven with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. And be not God-fearing, but God-loving

, for God loved you first, so love him with true love, love in which there is NO fear, for perfect love casts out fear, because in fear there is torment.
He who fears is not perfect in Love
. Love your neighbor as yourself, for if you do not love your neighbor, but say that you love the Most High, you are lying. Even if you are the first righteous person in the world and live according to the Law of God, and speak in the language of angels, and have all knowledge and all faith, but if at the same time you do not have Love and harbor malice in your heart, even for an insignificant worm, then you are just copper ringing and there is no benefit to your Soul.

All good deeds are the external light of a person, but it does not illuminate the Path to the Kingdom of Heaven. But there's a light inside

The Man of Light and he illuminates the whole world. If it does not illuminate, then there is darkness. And even if you give away everything you have and give your body to be burned, but Love does not illuminate your deeds, it will not benefit you at all.

You are children of Love, born of Love, shouldn’t you become Love? And to become Love means to become equal to God, it means to become God. For Love is God. And there is no other way to His Kingdom. This is impossible for humans! With God everything is possible. To you, to whom I address the Word of God, I call you Gods, and so it is said in the scriptures. Truly you are Gods, only your eyes are closed and you have not yet awakened to enter your glory

. And if Love is in you, then God will be in you and you in Him. Perfect love and the Holy Spirit come together, for they are one. If Love is in you, then the Holy Spirit is in you. If the Holy Spirit is in you, then your Love is perfect.

Be as pure as doves and wise as serpents. Find the light that will save you INSIDE YOURSELF

. Even if True Knowledge is lost, it can be restored from the heart with the help of the Soul (subconscious), connecting Man with the Almighty...”
