Letters from Ksenia of Petersburg: requests, how to write correctly and examples of notes

Where did the feat of foolishness begin?

Nothing is known about the childhood of the saint of God, although the years of her birth range between 1719 and 1730, the exact date has not been established. Attention to the life of the ascetic was drawn after she buried her husband and allegedly became “mad.” But let's talk about everything in order.

Ksenia was married to a court singer named Andrei. The couple lived in a happy marriage for more than three years, but the unexpected happened. The young man died, leaving his wife a widow. And Ksenia was only 26 years old when her beloved husband passed away. On the day of the funeral, the widow put on his clothes and in this form went behind the coffin, assuring those present that Andrei Feodorovich was alive, and his wife had died. Relatives decided that the young woman had lost her mind from grief.

Foolishness

Before we talk about how to write a letter to Ksenia of Petersburg, let's remember her earthly life. And those who have not yet read the life of the saint can read a brief summary of it in our article.

So, we settled on the fact that the relatives considered blessed Xenia to be distraught. Their opinion was strengthened after she decided to give away her wealth to the poor, and signed her estate to a poor woman who rented a room from her. After completing her worldly affairs, Saint Xenia of Petersburg took upon herself the most difficult feat of foolishness. She walked around the city in pathetic rags, acting like a madwoman, which caused ridicule and poking from its inhabitants. And if adults simply mocked the saint, then evil children threw stones and sticks at her. But the blessed one humbly accepted ridicule and beatings, patiently bearing her cross.

Miracles during life

We will tell you how and where to send letters to Ksenia of St. Petersburg in a separate subsection. In addition, we will give the address of the Smolensk cemetery, where the chapel and grave of the holy saint of God is located. She is famous for her posthumous miracles, but she also performed them during her lifetime, although few people know about this.

It all started with people’s insight; if earlier they considered Ksenia a “fool,” then over time they noticed some things about her. The saint practically did not take alms, and if she did, it was only in the smallest coin. And not everyone will take it, but only from very kind and warm-hearted people. The merchants noticed that if the blessed one approached the counter and took something, sales would be simply excellent.

Saint Xenia predicted people's fate, but she did it in such a confusing way, telling some stories and choosing strange words, that at first you wouldn't even guess what she was talking about. Only with time came an understanding of the blessed one’s insight, which once told about a particular situation in an allegorical form.

But there were cases when the ascetic spoke openly. The most famous of them is a “gift” to a friend in the form of a child. The blessed one went to see Paraskeva Antonova, the same woman who had once rented a room from her and received Ksenia’s house as a gift. Paraskeva was sitting sewing at that moment, patching her stockings. And blessed Ksenia said to her: “Here you sit and darn your stockings, but you don’t know that God has sent you a son! Go quickly to the Smolensk cemetery!”

Paraskeva was embarrassed by such words of the blessed one, but obeyed, putting aside her work and going to the cemetery. Just not far from him, a terrible thing happened: a cab driver hit a pregnant woman, who immediately gave birth to a healthy boy, and died herself. Paraskeva took the child and raised him in the strict Christian faith.

  • Blessed Ksenia.
  • Blessed wanderer.
  • Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg.
  • Mother Ksenia.
  • Blessed Ksenyushka of St. Petersburg.
