The history of the phenomenon of “Sinners’ Helpers”
In the Nikolaevsky Monastery, in the Oryol province in the village of Odrina, there was an image of the Mother of God. It was so old that even the image had disappeared in places. The image stood in the chapel at the gate, forgotten by everyone. But the Mother of God was pleased to show the world Her power and help through this forgotten list.
In 1843, several parishioners of the monastery simultaneously had dreams indicating that the ancient icon had miraculous powers. During the persecution of the Church, parishioners tried to save the shrine. At first it was kept by a resident of the village of Staroe, Oryol region. In the 70s, a woman’s house burned down. She managed to save the image and handed it over to pious people for safekeeping. In 1994, he ended up near Odessa, where she was brought by a parishioner of the Church of All Saints in Karachaevo, Raisa. Miraculous list in Khamovniki
In 1848, Moscow resident Dimitry Boncheskul received a copy of the miraculous image as a gift and placed it in his home iconostasis.

Divine face of the Virgin Mary
It should be noted that the sacred meaning that was embedded in the presented miraculous image of the Mother of God is a reflection of the very essence of the heavenly service of the Queen of Heaven as an Intercessor and Patroness for the entire Orthodox people. The upper location of the Virgin Mary is displayed on the iconography of the face and, as a rule, it depicts images and figures of the Infant God and the Queen of Heaven, framed with twelve stars (six stars are located on one side and the other).
The All-Tsarina herself is represented on the divine face from the waist up, hugging the Son of God with her left hand, and extending her right hand to Him with a request for help. The Divine Infant responds with an Orthodox gesture to the Mother’s prayer: with both hands he took hold of her hand in such a way that the thumb of the Virgin Mary was in his right hand, and in the left hand was the small and one of the middle fingers of the next one. With such a gesture of consent, the Savior assures the Mother of God that he will always listen to her prayers offered for sinful people.
The Lord and the Virgin Mary have golden crowns on their heads, decorated with precious stones and pearls, which in turn indicates that the divine face is of South Russian origin. The miraculous image in the four corners has a scroll image with inscriptions that show the path to endless joy.

History of the icon
For a long time, the icon of the Mother of God with a baby on her left hand was not particularly revered and did not stand out in any way. It was in the Nikolaevo-Odrinsky Monastery, hanging in the chapel at the gate.
In 1843, many residents of the city saw the same dream, which reported the amazing power of the Sporuchnitsa icon. After this, the image of the Mother of God was solemnly transferred to the main church of the monastery. Believers reached out to him with requests for healing.
The mother of the weakened boy fervently prayed to the Lord and asked to save her son from the disease. The sincere appeal of the suffering woman was heard and the boy recovered. After this incident, people believed in the power of the icon of the Helper of Sinners and began to pray to her with a request to heal physical ailments and mental wounds.
Soon disaster came - a cholera epidemic. People reached out to the icon with prayers for salvation, and many were cured or the disease passed them by. After this, a three-altar church was built in the monastery in honor of the icon of the Helper of Sinners, and it was moved there.

Prayer before the icon
The prayer has the greatest power on the days of the celebration of the icon of the Sporuchniua of Sinners, especially when said in the temple in front of the image of the Mother of God. On these dates, during the morning prayer service, prayer texts are read and kontakia and troparion are sung.

Icon “Helper of Sinners” – what does it help with?
Orthodox Christians should remember that they ask for help not from the icon itself, but from its Prototype - the Mother of God. Sacred images only help prayer, lifting our mind and heart to the Heavenly Intercessor and Prayer Book. Therefore, the division of icons into “specializations” is quite arbitrary.
Traditionally, in front of the “Helper of Sinners” icon, Christians turn to the Mother of God repentant prayers and requests for the admonition of sinners. They also ask Her for health, family happiness, consolation in sorrows and sorrows. It is worth noting that through this holy image, the Virgin Mary often helped Christians in epidemics and droughts.
“The Helper of Sinners” is an icon of the Mother of God, which was especially revered by repentant Siberian convicts. Therefore, in Siberia this image of the Mother of God became especially widespread. The most famous local miraculous copy of the icon is kept in the Chikoy St. John the Baptist Monastery (Trans-Baikal Territory). The Royal Face of the Mother of God is a promise of forgiveness for sinners, healing for the sick, support for the discouraged. And a reminder that we will never be alone in our troubles.
