For the first time in archival materials about the temple in the village of Dubrovki and its parish there is short information dating back to the beginning of the 12th century.
The village of Dubrovki with a dilapidated wooden church in the name of Elijah the Prophet and the chapel of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki was first mentioned in 1705.

The church, consecrated in honor of the Holy Spirit, was built at the expense of a local landowner, Prince Alexei Konstantinovich Beloselsky.

According to archival records for 1787, there was a brick church in Dubrovki, on the site of an old temple.

In 1823, at the expense of the new owner of the village, Tugolmina, a winter church with chapels in the name of Elijah the Prophet and the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica and a bell tower were built.

In 1942, the authorities insisted on closing the church “due to the death of the parish priest.” Church property was looted and destroyed. The temple was used as a warehouse for all kinds of agricultural materials. The bell tower was equipped as a water tower for the nearby Raketa pioneer camp.

On July 12, 1997, the temple was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, a church community of believers was formed and restoration work began in the temple. All acquisitions and work were carried out at the expense of the parishioners.

On March 20, 1999, an antimension was issued to the church; from that time, due to the lack of a permanent priest, the liturgy began to be served irregularly.

Since September 2000, after the appointment of a rector to the temple, services became regular.

On June 24, 2013, Bishop Roman (Gavrilov) of Serpukhov, concelebrating with the council of clergy, performed the great consecration of the Holy Spiritual Church [1].

There is a Sunday school and library at the temple.

Architecture

The brick centric building of the tiered type belongs to the monuments of the Baroque era. Its three-dimensional design - an octagon on a cross-shaped base - is a late replica of the widespread composition of patrimonial churches at the turn of the 17th - 18th centuries.

In 1823, the temple building was expanded: an Empire style refectory and a modest three-tier bell tower with a spire were added. At the same time, the architecture of the temple was partially subjected to stylistic reworking in the nature of the new extensions. The baroque flat figured frames of the openings were knocked down, the windows and cornices of the second tier were redone, the facades were plastered. The refectory dominates the exterior and interior of the building. Its vast three-nave space is organized with the help of Ionic columns naively interpreted in wood and false box vaults. The interior decoration and decoration of the monument have been lost. There are no iconostases, including the main one, which formed the interior of the small temple.

Church of St. equal to app. Methodius and Cyril was laid on April 29, 2011 in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack that occurred in the fall of 2002 at the Dubrovka Theater Center. The bulk of the hostages were released on October 26, the day of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. 130 people became victims of the terrorist attack.
