Trinity-Vladimir Cathedral

- Cathedral of the Novosibirsk and Berd diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in the city of Novosibirsk. It is a courtyard of the Archangel Michael Monastery in the village of Kozikha (Novosibirsk region).

History[edit]

The parish in the name of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir was organized in 1997. The first Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the day of remembrance of St. Nicholas and the Wonderworker - December 19, 1997. The community was temporarily located in an adapted building at 14 Filatova Street.

Previously, the rector of the parish was Hieromonk Kirill (Skakalsky), who now serves in the city of Cherepanovo. Since the beginning of Great Lent in 2001, the parish, by order of Archbishop Tikhon, has been a metochion of the Archangel Michael Monastery.

With the blessing of Archbishop Tikhon of Novosibirsk and Berdsk, the construction of the building of the Trinity-Vladimir Cathedral has been carried out since April 2001 by the Archangel Michael Monastery (village Kozikha). The cathedral is two-level, 36 meters long, 21 meters wide, 60 meters high (to the top point of the cross), with a capacity of 1,500 people. Structurally, it is a cross-domed, 6-pillar, five-domed temple with six thrones.

On May 24, 2002, Patriarch Alexy II signed a charter for the founding of the Trinity Cathedral (upper church).

In June-July 2002, the preparation of the pile field and the pouring of the foundation were completed. During the winter of 2002-2003, the brothers erected the walls of the second floor and installed reinforced concrete arched ceilings.

In April 2003, on Holy Saturday before Easter, His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon of Novosibirsk and Berdsk performed a minor consecration of the temple.

Parishioners took an active part in the construction of the temple. During general construction work, many helped in removing debris and performing simple construction operations. Weak grandmothers simply read the Psalter at a construction site during working hours.

On Easter 2003, the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the lower church. Heating was installed in the lower church and the Divine Liturgy began to be celebrated there every Sunday.

In 2005, before the Patronal Feast of the Trinity Cathedral on June 18, His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon consecrated the Cross, which was erected on the main dome of the temple.

In 2006, crosses were built and placed on four small domes. The rite of consecration of the crosses was performed by His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon on September 27. A 3-ton bell was cast into the small dome, with donations from parishioners and benefactors. The rite of consecration of the bell was performed by His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon on November 1. After the consecration, the bell was raised into one of the small chapters of the cathedral

In 2007, bells for the belfry were cast using donations from parishioners.

In 2008, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon, together with the mayor's office of Novosibirsk, the temple was prepared, and on the day of the city - June 28, Archpriest Boris Svinin performed the great consecration of the lower temple in honor of the Holy Trinity. During this year, a large amount of construction work was completed. The electrical network, church lighting (partially), external lighting, heating of the administrative building, telephone installation (partially) were installed and put into operation. The administrative building has been finished and put into operation, the second floor of the fraternal building is inhabited. With the financial support of the mayor's office and district authorities, landscaping of the temple area was carried out, a permanent fence with forged bars, gates and wickets was built.

In 2009, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Tikhon, a parish meeting was held, at which an Orthodox gymnasium was established in the name of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. The premises were reconstructed at the address: st. Filatova, 14 to accommodate the primary classes of the gymnasium.

In September 2010, 1st grade classes began in the newly opened Orthodox gymnasium.

The parish pays a lot of attention to religious education and upbringing of children and adults. At Sunday school, children become acquainted with Sacred history, the history of the Church, and the moral laws of life of an Orthodox Christian.

Adult parishioners are given classes in catechism, Church history, and the study of the Old and New Testaments.

With the blessing of Archbishop Tikhon, the parish is cared for by the Novosibirsk Regional Ukrainian Cultural Center. For several years now, on the days of the patronal feast day of our Parish - the memory of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir (July 28), a concert and festive festivities have been organized in Trinity Square after the Liturgy. In 2009, a stone was laid in Trinity Square, and in 2010, a stele was laid on the site of the future monument to the “Unity of the three Slavic peoples of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian.”

The clergy of the temple provide spiritual care to the Regional House of Mercy, MNTK "Eye Microsurgery" and Hospital No. 11 of the Leninsky District. A chapel in the name of St. Nicholas and the Wonderworker was opened at the MNTK; it was consecrated by Bishop Sergius, Bishop of Novosibirsk and Berdsk († 10/20/2000), in 1998. At Hospital No. 11 a chapel was also opened in honor of the Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth. With the blessing of Bishop Sergius, it was consecrated by Hieromonk Kirill on December 19, 1998. In the chapels once a week, and in the House of Mercy once a month, hieromonks perform prayer services, confess, give communion, and gather unction to the faithful.

On August 24, 2013, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' performed the rite of great consecration in honor of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir of the upper church of the Trinity-Vladimir Cathedral in Novosibirsk and led the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.

Temple in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Znamenie-Abalatskaya”

The Novosibirsk Orthodox Church, erected in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Znamenie-Abalatskaya”, appeared at the intersection of Novosibirsk Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Uchitelskaya streets not so long ago. Its coverage took place in July 2000. Built according to the design of the architect P. A. Chernobrovtsev, this beautiful, majestic cathedral is reminiscent of the best Russian churches of the 16th-17th centuries. It is a tall, four-pillar, five-domed church with three naves. A porch topped with an onion dome with massive columns is attached to its three facades: northern, southern and western. A visit to this church takes you back to antiquity and allows you to experience all the beauty of ancient Russian architecture.

Pilgrim[edit]

The temple is open for visits: on weekdays from 08.00 to 19.00 or until the end of the service, on Sundays from 06.30 to 19.00 or until the end of the service.

Divine services are performed:

In the evening at 17.00 – 9th hour, Vespers, Matins and 1st hour;

In the morning at 8.00 (on weekdays) – 3rd, 6th hours and Divine Liturgy;

On Sundays, two Divine Liturgies are celebrated - early at 6.45 and late at 9.00;

The Sacrament of Repentance (Confession) - daily during the evening service from 17.00.

Novosibirsk Chapel of St. Nicholas

This beautiful chapel is located in the very center of the city, on its Red Avenue. According to existing legend, in the past this very place was the center of the entire Russian Empire.

Construction of the chapel of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of the then reigning Emperor Nicholas II, began in Novosibirsk (then Novonikolaevsk) in June 1914. And already in 1929 it was brutally destroyed, first erecting a monument to a worker, and then to Stalin.

Only for the 100th anniversary of Novosibirsk, in 1993, according to surviving photographs, the chapel was restored. True, its location has changed a little - now it is located a little further from the intersection where the chapel was originally located. Today, the St. Nicholas Chapel has become a symbol of the city and one of its spiritual centers, where daily prayer services are held with an akathist to St. Nicholas.

Novosibirsk Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary

And finally, we cannot ignore the oldest wooden church in the city, which is practically the same age as it is - the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is located on Oktyabrskaya Street, 9. This is an architectural monument, which, according to the decision of the regional executive committee, is protected by the state.

The history of this church, which is almost the same age as Novosibirsk, is inextricably linked with the history of the city itself.

Its foundation and consecration took place in 1901. Even after the 1917 revolution, this church continued to exist, but was subjected to severe repression. In 1939, the church was closed, the bell tower was dismantled, and its building was given to a theater school.

Only in 1993 was it returned to the Novosibirsk diocese, and in 2007 its reconstruction was completed.
