Some servants of God have become the embodiment of the forces of evil. Fallen angels - who are they and how did they appear? The reasons for the fall were different: some had accumulated resentment towards God for his decision regarding Dennitsa, some believed Lucifer, and there were those who had evil hidden in their souls for a long time. In the article you will learn how the fallen angels appeared, what were the reasons for their uprising, who was first, their names and powers.
How did the fallen angels appear?
It is generally accepted that the fall of the angels began with the victory of the army of God, led by the Archangel Michael, over the army of the Devil. As you know, Dennitsa (known as Lucifer) was the most beautiful and bright angel, he was closest to God. However, Lucifer became proud of himself and tried to put himself on an equal footing with the Creator. This behavior infuriated God, Lucifer was very dissatisfied and rebelled against paradise, gathering many followers who later became demons.
A large number of the future fallen angels were the most powerful servants of God. All future demons had their own goals and motives.
- For example, the demon Abaddon had destructive power, this should have been his advantage. He took the chance to continue this business without any restrictions.
- Another demon named Gaap sought to realize his ideas and saw such an opportunity in joining Lucifer. At the same time, Gaap very often carried out his plans by helping people.
- The demon Asmodeus thirsted for power and strength, and he also did not miss the opportunity. There is also another reason for the fall of angels: the so-called essence, which did not allow them to grow spiritually.
No holy scripture mentions the exact time of the fall of the angels. For example, Christian sources claim that it was Satan who began the Fall. At the same time, ancient Jewish sources describe Samael , the strongest of the angels, who tempted Adam and Eve, who despite this was not punished.

THE ETERNAL FUTURE OF ANGELS
As personal, responsible creatures like humans, angels are accountable to God for their behavior and have an eternal existence (1 Cor. 6:3; Luke 20:36).
THE FUTURE OF THE HOLY ANGELS
Having been chosen by God to remain unfallen (1 Tim. 5:21), the holy angels will worship and serve their Creator forever (cf. Heb. 12:22-23; Rev. 5:11-12; 21:12). This truth indicates that the probationary period during which the angels decided whom to serve has passed, and the holy angels can no longer sin. There is no need for future punishment for them.
THE FUTURE OF EVIL ANGELS
Obviously, these fallen angels will be judged (1 Cor. 6:3; 2 Pet. 2:4) and thrown into the lake of fire [gehenna], where they, along with Satan, will experience eternal torment (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 20:10). They are aware of the fate that is prepared for them (Matt. 8:29; Mark 5:7; Luke 8:28).
The Scriptures nowhere teach that salvation was provided for evil angels who sinned despite their greater knowledge of God and His glory. Colossians 1:20 seems to refer only to those who have been unwittingly affected by sin. The Apostle Paul does not refer to those who are in hell under the earth, the area of dead unsaved people and imprisoned fallen angels [see. Addition: “Hell, hell”].
SATAN
While it is vital for us to study what God has revealed about His archenemy, Satan, we must be careful not to give the adversary the honor that belongs only to God. Moreover, we must take care not to become morbidly interested in the devil and his works, which would draw us into the study of literature and certain practices that open our hearts to Satan's deceptions and dangerous influences. God has revealed in His Word everything we need to know about the devil. It would be safe and wise to be content with this information. On the other hand, it is very important for us to study the information that God has given us about this enemy.
NAMES OF SATAN
In his fallen state, God's archenemy has several titles: “Satan,” meaning “adversary,” is commonly used as his personal name (Job 1:10; Matt. 4:10). His most commonly known title is “devil,” which means “slanderer” (Matt. 4:1; cf. Rev. 12:10). Other titles are: “dragon” (Rev. 12:9; 20:2), “the ancient serpent” (12:9; cf. Gen. 3:15), “tempter” (Matt. 4:3), “prince of this world” (John 12:31), “the father of lies” (8:44), “the prince of demons” (Matthew 12:24) and “the god of this age” (2 Cor. 4:4). The Pharisees called Satan “Beelzebub,” which means “lord of flies,” representing something vile and disgusting (Matt. 12:24-26).
THE NATURE OF SATAN
Although many people deny his personality and treat him as some kind of evil force, the Scriptures reveal to us who Satan is. Having examined the nature of angels, we have already found out that Satan is a person with an angelic nature.
He is a personality.
The fact that Satan has personality is indicated by his self-awareness (Matt. 4:9), self-expression (Isa. 14:13-14), moral consciousness (Matt. 4:1), eternity (Rev. 20:10), and also his cunning (Eph. 6:11; 2 Cor. 2:11) and feelings (Rev. 12:12).
He is an angel.
Since Satan was created an “anointed cherub” (Ezek. 28:13-14), he still has an angelic nature with its superhuman qualities and powers. However, like all fallen angels, sin led him to spiritual ruin, slavery and death. This means that his angelic nature has lost its original beauty and wisdom and has become prone to sin, so much so that he is completely driven and controlled by the power of sin, and that he no longer has a personal relationship with God. Like all created beings, he has limits and is subject to the sovereignty of God (Job 1:12; Rev. 12:9-12).
CHARACTER OF SATAN
Possessing a completely corrupt angelic nature, and being completely guided by the power of sin, Satan is evil (John 17:15), a murderer (8:44), a deceiver (Rev. 12:9; John 8:44), proud (1 Tim. 3:6), powerful (Job 1:12-19; 2:7; 2 Thess. 2:9), arrogant (Matt. 4:9), cunning (2 Cor. 2:11; Eph. 6: 11), persistent (Luke 4:13) and insane, obsessed with the absurd idea that he could defeat and overthrow God (Isa. 14:12-14). He lies for the purpose of deception (John 8:44), and is also capable of transforming himself into an “angel of light” when it is useful to him (2 Cor. 11:14).
ACTIVITIES OF SATAN
In addition to ruling over the world of the unsaved inhabitants of the earth (John 21:31; 14:30; 16:11) and opposing God and His people (1 Pet. 5:8), Satan's primary activity appears to be are attempts to prevent the implementation of God's sentence against him - his complete defeat on the part of the Seed of the woman, or the Lord Jesus (Gen. 3:15). His efforts can be traced throughout human history.

Lucifer - the first fallen angel
Despite the angelic hierarchy, almost all angels had their own goals and desires. The first who dared to go against the will of God was Lucifer. He was God's favorite angel; he had no equal in beauty or strength. Even the translation of his name meant “Bringer of Light”; he was compared to Venus, the morning star.
There are people who believe that Lucifer did not at all seek to overthrow the Creator. He just wanted to express his power and prove that he could be on an equal footing with God, but God misunderstood him and expelled him from heaven.
In the Church of Satan, Sandor LaVey takes Lucifer as a symbol of rebellion and the desire for better, for change. On the contrary, the traditional church believes that Lucifer was overthrown because of his pride, he was too proud of himself and considered himself equal to the Creator.
There are many opinions regarding the first fallen angel. Among them are those who believe that God and Lucifer are one and the same. Proponents of this point of view say that the Lord originally intended all the temptations emanating from the Devil in order to test people who must resist such temptations, not allow them to control themselves and continue to grow spiritually.

Names of fallen angels and their powers
During the Middle Ages, there was a lot of research on demonology and the names of fallen angels. It was at this time that grimoires were written, which described the fallen angels, their history, powers, reasons for exile. Some names may be familiar to you: for example, Satan, Lucifer, Belial, Leviathal. In fact, there are hundreds of fallen angels, all of them differing in their powers, methods and reasons for expulsion from heaven. Female names are very rare because angels were not usually female. The names Lilith and Casicandriera, considered the queen of hell, are known.
Do not forget that demonology was forbidden and only in the 19th and 20th centuries such important figures as MacGregor Mathers and Aleister Crowley began to appear, who wrote their works and practiced this science. It was at this time that new interest arose in her. There was a need to systematize already known medieval knowledge with new ones, and this was the result of the work of these magicians. They performed rituals with demons, allowing them to take a fresh look at the powers of fallen angels.
The Renaissance brought a new perspective on fallen angels. Cultural experts, artists, and sculptors tried to find positive traits in the traitor angels. They endowed them with such qualities as confusion, the struggle to express their own ideas and inner strength; negativity was practically invisible in this era.

Giants - angels fallen from Heaven
The Book of Enoch tells about the events that occurred shortly after the Fall of man and sheds light on the origin of the mysterious giants that the Bible tells about. People on earth began to multiply, and at that time extremely beautiful daughters were born to them. And some of the angels (also called guards), the sons of Heaven, saw them and desired them. A crazy plan was born in their minds, and they said to each other: “Let's choose wives for ourselves among the sons of men and give birth to children!” The chief of them, Semjaza, told them: “I am afraid that you will not want to carry out this matter, and I alone will have to atone for this great sin.” And then they all bound themselves with an oath to be in this matter together until the end. They understood that they were doing great evil, because they despised the grace of Heaven and wanted to become like mortal people. From now on they became angels who fell from Heaven. They descended to the top of Mount Hermon because it was here that their oath took place. The names of their chiefs: Semyaza - the main one, Urakibarameel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Danel, Ezekeel, Sarakuyal, Azazel, Armaros, Batraal, Anani, Kokabel, Samsaveel, Satarel, Turel, Iomyael, Asradel. In total, there were two hundred angels who fell from Heaven.
They fulfilled their plan: they took wives, and each chose one for themselves. Taking the form of a man, the fallen angels began to enter and mingle with them. But this was not enough for them, and they taught people forbidden knowledge: magic and spells, and revealed to them the secret power of roots and trees. From such unnatural unions, earthly women gave birth to great giants, whose height was incredible (according to various sources, from 5 m to 150 m). The whole horror was that these creatures of incredible strength and size were evil. They ate all the people's gains, so that the people were no longer able to feed them. It should be said that in those days people were not yet allowed to eat meat. And the giants, the offspring of angels who fell from Heaven, began to sin against birds and animals, devouring their meat with each other and drinking their blood. Finally, the giants turned against the people themselves to devour them. The earth itself groaned from such great wickedness.
The knowledge that they received from angels who fell from Heaven was extremely harmful for people and brought innumerable troubles to the world. Azazel taught the people how to make weapons and also taught them to see what was behind them. He taught them the processing of precious metals and stones. Amezarak taught people spells and discovered the secret properties of roots, Armaros - how to break spells. Batraal, Kokabel, Tamiel and Asradel taught people astrological knowledge. All this led to the death of people, their souls cried out, and their voice reached Heaven.
Then the supreme holy angels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel looked from heaven and saw violence, blood and all the untruth that was happening on earth. And they said to their Lord God: “Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings! The throne of Your glory exists forever, and Your holy, glorious name is glorified forever and ever! You have created everything and see everything, and nothing can hide before You. So look what Azazel did, how he taught people all kinds of wickedness and revealed the heavenly secrets of the world. And the spells were revealed by Semjaza, to whom You gave the power to be the leader of his accomplices. And they (the guards) came with each other to the daughters of men and slept with them - with these wives, and became defiled, and revealed these sins to them. The women gave birth to giants, and through this the whole earth was filled with blood and wickedness. You know this and their deeds, and yet you tell us nothing. What should we do to them now for this?” (Book of Enoch Deut.div.:9)
Then the Almighty, the Great and the Holy told Uriel to immediately go to Lamech’s son Noah and warn him about the upcoming Flood, and also teach him what needs to be done to save Noah himself and his family. The Lord told Raphael to tie Azazel hand and foot and put him in darkness until the day of the Great Judgment, when he would be cast into fiery hell. And God told Gabriel to go to the illegitimate children of the angels who had fallen from Heaven, and destroy them from among people, so that the giants themselves would destroy each other. And God said to Michael: “Inform Semyaza and his accomplices who have united with their wives…. When all their sons beat each other mutually, and they see the death of their favorites, then bind them tightly under the hills of the earth for seventy generations until the day of judgment over them and until the end of the birth, until the final judgment is completed for all eternity. In those days they will be thrown into the fiery abyss; they will be imprisoned in torment and chains for all eternity. And immediately Semjaza will burn and from now on die with them; they will be bound to each other until the end of all generations... Destroy all violence from the face of the earth, and every evil act must cease..."
And the Word of God was fulfilled: the angels who fell from Heaven, led by Azazel, were bound in darkness until the day of the Great Judgment, the terrible giants were destroyed by the hands of each other. Humanity was expecting the waters of the Flood. Such dire consequences were caused by the extreme spread of evil on earth. With the exception of Noah and his family, humanity has completely succumbed to evil. Such measures were necessary so that humanity would ultimately be saved. The Lord foresaw that humanity would be restored through Noah, and one day He would appear who would be called the plant of justice and righteousness, He who would save the whole world from sin and death.
