Diseases of children. Why? For what? Where is God?
This is a difficult topic for us. It sounds like this: “Why do children get sick?” In the question one can hear the voice of a certain reproach, bewilderment of an adult. They say, we adults, okay, we are sinners, that’s why we get sick, but children, they say, why? Children, they say, why? These words have a long history. Ivan Karamazov (from Dostoevsky’s novel “The Brothers Karamazov”) presented a child’s tear as a formal reason to “return the ticket to God”: he was amazed that children, they say, suffer, but God sees. How so, they say? So, this question is both theoretical and practical. But as difficult as it is, it is also not difficult, because a saint cannot be born from a sinner, and children are born from mortal parents, from parents stricken by sin. Children are mortal. It's scary to say, but they are mortal. And illnesses, as harbingers of death, manifest themselves in them too. Moreover, they appear earlier than expected. We now often see children getting cancer, for example. Previously, we did not think that this was possible, because cancer manifests itself at an older age and eats people. And here there are small children, and already such serious illnesses. Obviously, we are talking about the fact that humanity as a whole is aging. He grows old, accumulates sinful energy, painful potential, and cannot help but pass this on to his offspring. Of course, these are our children... But who are we? That is, we understand that we are sinful, sick and doomed to part with this world sooner or later. That is, a Christian attitude towards the world requires courage and an enlightened mind: there will be death, there will be resurrection. The companion of sin, such a tax of sin, is death, and the messengers of death are diseases. What is born from a mortal, that is, children, is also mortal. And the whole recipe consists of very simple things: sin less. If you sin less and direct your efforts more towards searching for the truth of God, as it is said: Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all this will be added to you
(Matt. 6:33). Obviously, joy, energy, health, strength, and much, much more will be added. But since we are looking for everything we want, except for the Kingdom of God, therefore the terrible reality reminds us of itself in that prosperity slips out of our hands, and various troubles, including illnesses, gather in threatening clouds over humanity. People are getting sicker and sicker.
Technical civilization, Western-style civilization, is admirable because it is the fruit of a great mind. It was created in order to conquer nature to man and provide his comfort. These goals have been achieved. Nature has been conquered and comfort has been achieved. However, the achieved comfort and conquered nature took revenge on man by making him weak, sickly, hysterical, nervous, prone to pathologies, loose, and useless. That is, today he will no longer repeat anything that was done by humanity before. Because his physical and mental strength have been cut to the ground. This cannot but affect children.
In addition, we must understand that children in the modern world are often idols. I don’t know whether the reader will understand me and appreciate what I say. Understand, there is a True God, a Living and True God, He must be served, He must be worshiped. If a person does not worship the Living and True God, he still worships someone and something. Singer, actor, progress, civilization, science, technology, someone else. But if there is not enough brains for this to build some abstractions, then people, as a rule, worship something concrete, close and dear - children. That is, people who do not know God, who want to serve someone and worship someone, worship the fruit of their womb, turning children into household gods, into household idols. Do you understand? And God crushes idols. That is, our children are crushed, like idols, by early illnesses, early weaknesses, by their worthlessness, worthlessness. These early drug addicts, libertines, and so on and so forth. These are all the fruits of the fact that children have learned a function that is not characteristic of them. They are household gods, they are served. That is, they are not taught to serve those who gave birth to them, but they are served. And they turn into little demons, not yet able to speak properly. While still snotting and lisping due to their age, they are already learning to understand themselves as gods and masters. Believe me, whoever loves his children too much turns them into idols - idols are worthy of destruction. That is, it is these idols that will be crushed, to the greater pain of the one who turned his children, in fact, into graven images and idols.
Therefore, you need to have the right attitude towards children. They are not gods, they are a gift. God will ask for this gift. How did you raise him? They are our children, so something hidden in us comes out in them. A person lives very little - thirty, forty, fifty, sixty years. This is nothing, some kind of kitten sneeze. And much that is hidden in us, that has not manifested itself in us, manifests itself in them. This applies to talents, abilities, gifts, as well as illnesses, infirmities, sinful tendencies and other things. We often see ourselves in development in them.
Therefore, of course, instead of blaming the Lord for not loving us, it is worth thinking about how we actually live. There are several simple recipes for a healthy lifestyle and possible avoidance of diseases: eat moderately, drink little - you will be healthy. Use hard work, keep moderation, and you will be rich. That is, you need to work more, rush around less, like a chicken and an egg. To amuse and undead yourself less, to rush towards them less. Knowing that death lies ahead. An inevitable reality, which is not terrible, since Christ entered it before us and conquered it by resurrection, that is, He was resurrected. That is, in death there is also Christ. Before the coming of Christ into the world, He was not in death; with the coming of Christ into the world, He is also in death. We will not be separated from Christ in the mortal experience and will be resurrected with Him and in Him. This rather tough, somewhat stoic, wise view of life is what the Gospel gives us.
Don't be surprised that the world is sick. He's not just sick, he's rotting. If we had a spiritual view of the world around us, we would be surprised to notice that it is more terrible than those zombies raised from hell that are shown in Western horror films, when people who do not understand anything walk along the streets, whose phalanges of fingers or hands fall off -legs, they are rotting alive. This is exactly how people actually rot, there is no surprise there. Therefore, it is not surprising that we get sick. We cannot escape these diseases; they will only multiply with our current approach to everyday life.
Another thing is that this needs to be changed. Change your attitude towards life, change your attitude towards children, towards yourself, towards eternity, towards time, towards work, towards food, towards health, towards illness. We must try and learn to see the Lord in everything. And don’t blame the Creator for anything. The creator is not to blame for anything. He needs to be thanked. As the wise Solomon says, in days of prosperity we need to give thanks, in days of sorrow we need to reflect (cf. Eccl. 7:14). God created both of them so that man could practice these two things.
Protect yourself from future illnesses by stoic rigor of life, reasonable abstinence, contentment with little, some self-discipline and the right attitude towards everything that surrounds you: towards yourself, towards elders, towards younger ones, towards life, towards illness, towards food, towards death. Take the trouble to stock up on the right thoughts in advance, because it is the person armed with thoughts who does not break down in temptation. But a person who is empty of temptations becomes completely distraught, is in confused feelings, he does not know what is happening. That is, armed with the right thoughts, you need to move away from sin. Then everything will slowly fall into place.
Well, the children, of course, get sick because of us. If we ourselves do not understand anything, then at least we will begin to cry and correct ourselves when those we love most are sick. This is also an educational scourge that forces us to kneel before the Creator. Better, of course, without diseases. Better without it. Therefore, turn to God, devote your life to God. God grant that our words are not spoken in vain.

99% of parents understand that if their children are treated, then all this is not accidental. Everything is from God
— Do all parents of sick children turn to God and become believers?
“I’ll say this: I didn’t meet any parents in the hospital who were hostile to the church or priests. At a minimum, they do not prevent children from visiting. To varying degrees, of course. Someone responds faster and understands what will happen if he turns to God, and God grants healing. In fact, 99% are parents who understand that if their children are being treated, then all this is not accidental. In addition, miracles happen there every day, and the parents see it. Imagine, isn’t it a miracle when a child who needs an urgent operation needs 100 thousand dollars for it, but the parents don’t have that kind of money - and suddenly these funds are found. And such miracles happen all the time, at any time - crisis, non-crisis, in any situation. There are always people ready to help. Many volunteers do not advertise their activities; they help secretly, driven by a selfless desire to help. Therefore, parents, encountering miracles of mercy every day, understand that only God can do this.
These children understand the value of life, they understand that they cannot waste it on vodka, cigarettes...
— You said that those children who were healed now come to the sick. Do they become believers and strengthen in their faith?
— At the last concert, at Candlemas, it was interesting to listen to these children and their performance. I will say this: at least these children understand the value of life, they understand that life cannot be wasted on vodka, cigarettes, parties, drugs, but it must be used for something useful and necessary. Because they came face to face with death and felt the breath of death. What does “a believer” mean? I would not say that this is the one who bows in the temple - this is not necessary, because you can leave the temple and behave as if you were never in the temple. The main thing is that a person lives correctly, and if he lives correctly, is a real person, then he has no other choice but to come to God and become a Christian.
Karma
People have long known the concept of “ancestral karma”. Esotericists say that any human sins require atonement. It is often not the culprit himself who has to bear responsibility for them, but his children or even representatives of subsequent generations. It turns out that a child born sick can atone for the sins of his grandparents or more ancient ancestors.
No one knows what distant relatives who lived 100 or more years ago did during their lifetime. It is possible that your parents led a righteous lifestyle and tried to act honestly in all situations. But do you know what your great-grandparents did for a living? Not every one of us knows the answer to this question. So it sometimes happens that it is the specific child who continues the family line who has the fate of atonement for sins committed 100-200 years ago.

Illness is an obstacle to happiness
Any health problem is an obstacle that arises on a person’s path to happiness. You need to learn to overcome it, and it is important for the mother and father of such a child to try to do everything to help their son or daughter cope with all the difficulties, helping him gain the necessary strength.
At the beginning of his life, a child born sick may experience self-doubt, fear, and sometimes pain. The parents' task is to give him enough energy to successfully overcome all this, so that he feels truly happy and confident.
