However, if we talk about the Sunday service of the 6th tone as a whole, then it should be noted that it is somewhat distinguished from other Sunday services. While in the Octoechos the sequences of all eight voices are presented for each of the seven days of the week, in another liturgical book intended primarily for cell use - in the Followed Psalter - only one service is given for each day, and the corresponding one is chosen as Sunday the service of Octoechos is precisely the 6th tone. In addition, at Great Vespers as part of the Sunday all-night vigil, every time, regardless of the voice of the service, the prokeimenon of the 6th tone “The Lord reigns…” is heard - which also distinguishes the 6th tone from the others. The Troparion refers us to very specific episodes of the Gospel narrative. And then we talk about Mary - and here the questions begin. This is the very case (perhaps not as rare as it might seem at first glance) when the troparion, which is a poetic presentation and understanding of the Gospel story, itself needs interpretation and interpretation. Above are three texts: the Greek original of the troparion, the Church Slavonic translation (in Russian transliteration) and the Russian translation. In all three texts, the word “Virgo” (Greek: Παρθένος) is capitalized. And if we look at the Octoechos, where the troparion is given in normal Church Slavonic graphics and spelling, we will see that the words “Virgin” and “Mary” are written under the title. Both (capital letters and use of the title) indicate the choice made by the publishers, the interpretation already made: the Virgin, Mary is the Mother of God. The question arises: where and when did the Mother of God stand in the tomb, where and when did the risen Lord meet Her? The Gospel does not say a word about this. Yes, there is a tradition according to which, after his resurrection, Jesus appeared first of all to his Most Pure Mother. And yet this understanding of the troparion seems artificial. The fact is that with the expressions used in the troparion (“...Mary stood in the tomb and sought Your most pure body... You met the Virgin/Virgin, the giver of life”), the episode of sacred history described by the Apostle John the Theologian and read at the all-night vigil as the 8th Sunday Gospel: “...Mary stood at the tomb and wept. And when she cried, she leaned into the tomb and saw two Angels sitting in white robes, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus lay. And they say to her: wife! Why are you crying? He says to them: They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him. Having said this, she turned back and saw Jesus standing; but did not recognize that it was Jesus. Jesus says to her: woman! Why are you crying? who are you looking for? She, thinking that it is the gardener, says to Him: Master! if you have brought Him out, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him. Jesus says to her: Mary! She turned and said to Him: Rabbi! - which means: Teacher! Jesus says to her: Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; But go to My brothers and say to them: I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. Indeed: here an angel appeared, here (according to the Evangelist Matthew) the guards fell into a stupor, here Jesus calls out to Mary Magdalene - everything comes together. Let us pay attention to the line “You have emptied hell without suffering from it”: in Sunday hymns the idea is repeated again and again that Christ, by his resurrection, defeated hell, emptied Sheol, and brought out of it those who had been captivated by him for centuries. The troparion ends with a joyful glorification on behalf of the faithful of the Savior, who trampled upon the devil and death: “Risen from the dead, Lord, glory to Thee!”
