wonderfully shown Thy works in Thy Most Pure Mother, O Lord, when the wonderful omophorion in Her hand, shining more than the ray of the sun, appeared, covering the people who are in the Church of the Blachernae. Having heard such a sign of Her merciful intercession, I was overcome with horror and joy and kept saying: Rejoice, omophorion not made by hands, like a cloud, spread out over the whole world; Rejoice, O Eternal Bishop, Your Son, holding the sign on Your hand. Rejoice, you who manifest this new mercy and new grace in the Orthodox Church; Rejoice, pillar of cloud covering us all from the temptations and enticements of the world. Ikos 9

These many-prophesied people, like dumb fish, are perplexed as to how to properly praise the great feast of Your all-honorable Protection: everything that is said about You from them is not sufficient to the uniform calculation of Your bounties. We, seeing Your countless good deeds, cry out with joy: Rejoice, you who keep us from the plague and all-destruction of mortals; Rejoice, preserving the cities and weights from sudden vibrations of the earth. Rejoice, you who raised up from the flooding of waters and from drowning with a strong hand; Rejoice, thou who deliverest from the fiery dew of Thy prayers. Ikos 10

“O Heavenly King,” the all-immaculate Queen standing with the Angels said in prayer in the air, “receive every person who prays to You and calls upon My name for help, so that he may not depart from My face empty-handed and unheard.” Having heard this all-good prayer, the congregation of saints cried out in gratitude: Rejoice, thou who crownest farmers with pure hands and hearts with blessed fruits; Rejoice, I will buy help and righteous rewards for all who do. Ikos 11

I shine to the light-receiving room, burning in prayer, seeing Thee in the air. The Blachernae Church, in agreement with the many people who were in it, exclaimed: “Where do I get this, so that the Mother of My Lord may come to me?” Saint Andrew and Epiphanius warmly pray to You, calling: Rejoice, unenvious Giver of all spiritual and physical gifts; Rejoice, faithful Representative of sinners who begin the repentance of sinners. Ikos 12

Singing Your sovereign protection, we all praise You, as our steadfast Representative, and we worship You, who prays for us: we believe and hope that You have asked Your Son and God for eternal and temporal goodness to all who cry out to You with love: Rejoice, to the whole universe strong intercession; Rejoice, sanctification of all earthly and heavenly elements. Rejoice, blessing of all seasons; Rejoice, all slander and temptations that come from the world, the flesh and the devil are trampled underfoot. Prayer

Oh , Most Holy Virgin, Mother of the Lord of the highest powers, Queen of heaven and earth, Almighty Intercessor of our city and country! Accept this singing of praise and gratitude from us, unworthy Thy servants, and lift up our prayers to the Throne of God Thy Son, that He may be merciful to our iniquities, and add His grace to those who honor Thy all-honorable name and with faith and love worship Thy miraculous image. We are not worthy of being pardoned by Him, unless You propitiate Him for us, the Lady, for everything is possible for You from Him. For this reason, we resort to You, as to our undoubted and speedy Intercessor: hear us praying to You, cover us with Your all-powerful protection, and ask God for Your Son: zeal and vigilance for our souls as our shepherds, wisdom and strength as city rulers, truth and impartiality for judges , the mentor is reason and humility, the spouse is love and harmony, the child is obedience, the offended is patience, the fear of God is offended, the sorrowful is complacency, the rejoicing is abstinence; for all of us is the spirit of reason and piety, the spirit of mercy and meekness, the spirit of purity and truth. To her, Most Holy Lady, have mercy on Your weak people; Gather those who are scattered, guide those who have gone astray to the right path, support old age, raise young ones to be chaste, raise infants, and look upon us all with the gaze of Your merciful intercession, raise us from the depths of sin and enlighten our heartfelt eyes to the vision of salvation, be merciful to us here and there, in the land of earthly arrival and at the terrible judgment of Your Son; Having ceased in faith and repentance from this life, our fathers and brethren began to live with the Angels and all the saints in eternal life. For you are, Lady, the Glory of heaven and the Hope of earth, You, according to God, are our Hope and Intercessor of all who flow to You with faith. We therefore pray to You, and to You, as the Almighty Helper, we commit ourselves and each other and our whole life, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Worthy to eat

It is worthy to eat as you truly bless Thee, the Mother of God, the Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and the Mother of our God. We magnify You, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption, the real Mother of God.

Akathist and prayer to the “Passionate” Icon of the Mother of God

Ikos 1

The angels appeared to Thy Son and our God, held in Thy embrace, showing the instrument of the Cross, but we worship with fear the passion of Thy Son, and call Thy: Rejoice, O wonder of the Archangels; Rejoice, Servant of the Mysteries of God. Rejoice, for you have found the Holy Spirit upon You and the power of the Most High in the fall of You; Rejoice, for who was born of You is the Son of God. Rejoice, for Your ever-virgin seed has erased the head that nested in the serpent of the devil; Rejoice, for through You hell was grieved and death was slain. Rejoice, Unbrided Bride.

Seeing, O Most Immaculate One, that the Lord has come to earth for the sake of mercy, let him suffer for the sins of those who believe in Him and cry out to Him: Alleluia.

Mind, Most Immaculate, the verb of Elder Simeon, But a weapon will pass into Your own heart, so that thoughts from many hearts may be opened, so with tenderness we call You: Rejoice, Most Serene Cherubim; Rejoice, thou who didst bear all the sorrows of Herod and the Jew. Rejoice, in Your most pure Nativity you bore doubt from Joseph; Rejoice, for you have brought and placed God in a wordless manger. Rejoice, for you and the Son and God have no place to bow your head; Rejoice, for through You man is God, that God may make Adam. Rejoice, for through You human nature has been exalted; Rejoice, Unbrided Bride.

Kontakion 4

Confused by the storm of sin and weighed down by the sleep of negligence, we fall down before Thy holy icon, giving thanks for the merciful visit of Thy icon to this place, constantly singing the song to God: Alleluia.

Ikos 4

Having heard the Orthodox people of the city of Moscow, as if the pious Tsar commanded to bring the icon called “Passionate”, for this reason many people gathered with the Tsar, Patriarch Job and the entire Holy Council, joyfully crying out: Rejoice, our joy and salvation; Rejoice, Holy Trinity, God-voiced Turtle Dove. Standing at the Cross of Your Son and our God, a fierce weapon pierced Your soul, when I crucified the Life-Giver on the place of execution, in the midst of two robbers, when the warriors stripped off His vestments and cast lots for His imitation. Then the intelligent host will poyahu: Alleluia.

Ikos 6

Having shone like a bright light at the Cross of Your Son, burning with motherly love, saying: “Even though you suffered on the Cross, yet I know You, before the Lucifer was born.” Seeing the Most Pure One, all creation cries out to Thee: Rejoice, as with soul and body you stand before the Cross of Your Creator; Rejoice, until the last hour of death, you were not separated from the Lord. Ikos 9

The prophets who have spoken many times will not be able to sing of Your suffering at the Cross. But you, O Most Pure One, with your hair tormenting your face and your chest beating, you cried out: “Son, receive My spirit and do not leave Me alone.” We, unworthy, call Ti with tender voices: Rejoice, helping the faithful at the hour of death; Rejoice, accompanying all Christians through fierce ordeals. Rejoice, freeing us from demonic restraint; Rejoice, Intercessor of Christians at the Last Judgment of God.
