Icons and prayers for family well-being and love, the family hearth, protecting children, women from illness, the house from fire. Mandatory three icons that should be in every home

Mandatory three icons that should be in every home

Every believer must have one or more icons at home. They serve not only as a symbol of faith, but also as a kind of connecting link for communication with the Lord. Some families even have real iconostases in their homes (certain places, usually corners, hung with many different icons).

However, a true believer is characterized not by the number of icons, but by their correct choice for home and family. They are needed so that during prayers your requests are heard, so that the person asking receives the help he expects.

First of all, the most important image that should be present in the house where an Orthodox person lives is the face of the Savior. This is an icon of Jesus Christ. People often pray to him for healing and treatment of illnesses. The second important icon is the image of the Virgin Mary, the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is deservedly considered a faithful intercessor of women and children, and therefore the icon often addresses the difficulties of childbirth, conception, gestation, and gaining spiritual and physical female health.

INTERESTING: The image of Christ and the Mother of God is two principles (male and female). These are two symbols of life and harmony. Therefore, these two icons should be present in every home. Most often, the family receives them during a wedding or wedding, since they are taken for blessings for a happy marriage and then kept as a relic and amulets.

The choice of the third most important icon in a person’s home depends only on what kind of life the person leads, what difficulties there are in the family, and what the home lacks. No one should dictate terms and rules to you in choosing “obligatory” icons. You must choose images of the Holy One according to the dictates of your heart and soul.

Explore options:

  • The image of St. Nicholas the Pleasant (Wonder Worker) - this Saint helps a person to safely resolve any difficult life situation. In addition, Nicholas the Wonderworker can help you resolve financial difficulties and achieve prosperity in your home and family. “About a miracle” they also ask him about health problems, healing, as well as finding happiness in life.
  • Personalized icon - each person chooses it individually, focusing on their baptismal name. It is believed that the Saint, who is a person’s protector, will certainly allow him to achieve any success, prosperity and happiness in life.
  • Icon “Seven-Arrow Mother of God” - It is believed that this image, which will be placed opposite any door in the house (entrance or bedroom), will protect the family from any evil, quarrel and scandal, as well as “bad” people who may get into house.
  • The Icon of the Life-Giving Trinity is an icon that depicts the images of three angels. They embody togetherness and love.
  • The Nativity of Christ icon is considered a “family” icon that will protect home peace and harmony.

IMPORTANT: Some are sure that the most important icons for the home are the “holidays of God”: the icon of Baptism, Presentation, Annunciation and Intercession.

What is important when storing icons at home:

  • Icons should be respected and revered
  • They don't need to be put in a corner just because they have to be in the house and not because you want them to.
  • Wipe your icons regularly, removing dust from them
  • Icons must be hung or placed in a visible place.
  • When placing icons on surfaces, spread napkins or tablecloths underneath them.
  • Do not place “worldly” decorative souvenirs next to divine icons.

Icons in the house

Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky

During his lifetime, this saint was elected bishop of the Cypriot city of Trimifunt and became famous for praying for the poor and suffering. They said that during all the severe droughts in Cyprus, only thanks to the prayers of the priest Spyridon, the hot days ended and the rains began, the peasants were able to reap the harvest and not fall into poverty and hunger. With his prayer and power, the bishop punished the merciless and greedy traders of bread, wine and fish, saving poor Cypriots from bondage and death.

There is a rumor that after the canonization of the saint, believers who turned to his icons and relics for help received salvation in the form of a desired job or other improvement in their financial situation. And that even today Saint Spyridon does not ignore the requests of Christians without attention. They say that poor, disadvantaged Russians who lost their homes or fell into financial bondage successfully resolved their problems after asking him for prayer. But in Moscow churches, for example, icons of St. Spyridon of Trimythous are a rarity. You can touch his image with part of his relics in the capital only in the Church of the Resurrection of the Word on the Assumption Vrazhek and in the Church of the Intercession of the Danilov Monastery.

Prayers for happiness in family life

Saint John the Merciful

John, popularly nicknamed the Merciful, was also from Cyprus, born into a noble family and was not initially a priest. But after the death of his wife and children, he began to take care of the poor, and soon, at the request of the people, he was elected patriarch of Alexandria of Egypt. John conducted a census of all the vagabonds in the city and assigned them a salary from his property. The Patriarch did not refuse anyone who asked, be it a peasant or a merchant; he gave money to everyone, ransomed prisoners and set up a shelter in his house for all the destitute.

After the canonization of John the Merciful, those who lost their homes, had financial difficulties and went bankrupt began to turn to his icons and relics. They say that, just as during his lifetime, the saint never refuses anyone and still helps with God’s help. But in Moscow, you can only turn to the icon of St. John the Merciful in the Church of the Resurrection at the Vagankovskoye cemetery and, perhaps, in some other churches of monasteries near Moscow.

Matrona of Moscow

This saint was canonized a little less than 20 years ago, but for the past ten years thousands of people have come to venerate her relics and icon every day. It is believed that a huge number of believers and unchurched Russians have already been saved by the prayers of Saint Matrona of Moscow, and miracles and healings, thanks to her mercy, occur every day.

Born blind, from the age of 8 Matrona, with prayers to the Lord, allegedly healed the sick, predicted future events, and gave advice. And although, basically, everyone turns to her in an effort to gain health and children, there is a special prayer to Matrona of Moscow for help in financial matters. Everyone who cannot feed their family, goes to work like hard labor for pennies, is generally unable to find a use for themselves, or is forced to constantly live in debt, asks for help from Matrona and, they say, finds it. You can venerate the icon of the saint and her relics in the Intercession Church of the Intercession Monastery, as well as in other Moscow churches and monasteries near Moscow. The Lord told his disciples: “...Ask, and it will be given to you...”. And this applies to all people.

How to pray in front of images correctly

Prayer connects a person with God. Pronouncing words, bowing and the sign of the cross are the material manifestation of reverent feelings raised to the Lord: repentance, humility, praise. Without a sensory message, prayer is meaningless.

Rules for prayer:

  • pray according to the prayer book to avoid unnecessary verbosity. The prayers composed by the psalmists, venerable elders and ascetics organize thoughts and feelings;
  • read in the morning, before starting work, and in the evening, after finishing it;
  • Learn the main texts by heart in order to delve deeper into the meaning and connect words with feelings. Each word must be pronounced consciously;
  • Before turning to the Lord, calm down your anger and let go of resentment. When asking God for mercy, you need to be merciful, like Him.

The prayer is read alone or with the whole family. Before starting, you should light a lamp, cross yourself, bow and stand in peace in order to renounce the bustle of the world. During prayer, you need to stand straight and calm, not shift from foot to foot, and not be distracted by extraneous noise. The prayer should end with thanksgiving.

Tips for reading prayers from St. Theophan the Recluse:

  • do not chatter, but read slowly, singing the words a little;
  • reinforce each phrase with a feeling - forgiveness, gratitude, repentance;
  • In order not to rush to read all the prayers, you need to set a deadline. When time runs out, stop. If you wish, read on.

The main rule is to speak in your own words between canonical prayers. And if some feeling captures you, you need to express it to the end, no matter the time.

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker

Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the most beloved saints of Russian believers. The Byzantine Archbishop of Myra of Lycia is now revered as a miracle worker, because he miraculously saved the disadvantaged more than once and is the patron saint of travelers, prisoners and orphans. It is known that during his life he helped everyone with requests, regardless of their well-being. Being born into a rich family and having inherited the money of his deceased parents, the saint distributed all his property to the poor. Nowadays, sufferers turn to his icons with various requests, but with the hope of a miracle - the appearance and preservation of money in dangerous enterprises, the acquisition of a well-paid job and simply a roof over their heads. There are images of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in every Russian Orthodox church, but a piece of his relics can only be touched in the Church of St. Nicholas on Three Mountains near Vagankovo, in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, in the St. Danilovsky Monastery and in the Nikolo-Ugreshsky Monastery near Moscow.

BLACK ICON. MONEY RITUAL FOR PRACTITIONERS.

Black icons were known to sorcerers and witches in ancient times, and were very successfully used in their work. In our time, a new direction in magic has appeared - verititude and warlocks.

In ancient times, everything had a slightly different name, and the followers called themselves monks. This is the same magic, only opposed to the Christian religion with its canons and laws.

In general, any movement created by a master who has great strength, capabilities and permission to use magic has a place to be and exist, since a man of Strength succeeds in almost any work that he undertakes, if he knows his business “perfectly” and is able to apply this knowledge in practice in any form that is convenient for him.

Many families secretly kept similar icons, which they made with their own hands, or took ordinary Christian icons and remade them in their own way. Then this icon was revived with special spells, certain words were recited on it, and it became a source of enormous monetary energy, which began to help in the lives of those who created it.
