Saint John the Merciful
John, popularly nicknamed the Merciful, was also from Cyprus, born into a noble family and was not initially a priest. But after the death of his wife and children, he began to take care of the poor, and soon, at the request of the people, he was elected patriarch of Alexandria of Egypt. John conducted a census of all the vagabonds in the city and assigned them a salary from his property. The Patriarch did not refuse anyone who asked, be it a peasant or a merchant; he gave money to everyone, ransomed prisoners and set up a shelter in his house for all the destitute.

The prayer is read alone or with the whole family. Before starting, you should light a lamp, cross yourself, bow and stand in peace in order to renounce the bustle of the world. During prayer, you need to stand straight and calm, not shift from foot to foot, and not be distracted by extraneous noise. The prayer should end with thanksgiving.

Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the most beloved saints of Russian believers.
