Biography of the Hieromartyr Cyprian, texts of prayers and what they help with

Some facts from the biography of the Hieromartyr Cyprian

Initially, nothing in Cyprian’s life foreshadowed him becoming a Saint in the future. On the contrary, everything turned out differently:

  1. The holy martyr was born into a family of pagan sorcerers, and from early childhood they began to initiate him into all the intricacies of this craft.
  2. He continued his studies until he was 30 years old. All this time, Cyprian traveled and collected new materials and comprehended the secrets of dark magic.
  3. At the end of his teaching, he knew many rituals: he could raise the dead from the grave and make them speak, cause the death of livestock, catch up with the elements, turn people into various evil spirits or cause illness.
  4. Cyprian's life was shattered when a rich young guy came to him to bewitch the pious girl Ustinia. She, in turn, did not reciprocate his feelings. Ustinya was a believer and said that she had one groom - the Lord God. Coming to Cyprian, the young man asked to bewitch the girl so that she would follow him.
  5. Whatever the sorcerer did, his spell did not work. The girl refused the young guy every time. All this happened for the reason that Ustinya prayed all the time and turned to God. Then Cyprian himself went to the bride, but he also failed to change anything. Then the sorcerer, angry, decided to bring damage and illness to the girl and all the people of the city. Again nothing worked.
  6. The sorcerer was amazed at the power of the Christian faith and wanted to know how the girl managed to resist his magical spells. He went to the temple. This is where divine grace was revealed.
  7. Cyprian prayed for a long time and asked for forgiveness for all his sins. Subsequently, he wrote many books about the faith and torment of the Lord.
  8. The Saint's life ended sadly. He was captured and beheaded for his faith in God.

It is because of the former craft that they turn to St. Cyprian of Corinth for help from the influence of witchcraft and read a prayer that changes fate. After all, he, like no one else, knows how to deal with this.

The life story of Justinia and Cyprian

Cyprian lived in the 3rd-4th century in Antioch during the reign of the Roman emperor Decius. The boy's parents were pagans and dreamed of seeing him as a priest. Serving Apollo was an honorable occupation; Cyprian was sent to study as a priest.

From the age of 10, the boy began to study witchcraft on Olympus, the habitat of the Roman gods. The talented and inquisitive Cyprian successfully comprehended the secrets of sorcery - he learned to send pestilence and drought, cause storms and storms, and comprehended demonic transformations. He belonged among the demons living in the statues of the Olympian gods, and served the dark forces.

Having mastered secret knowledge on Olympus, Cyprian set out around the world:

  • in Argus he served in the temple of Hera - he studied methods of seduction;
  • in Lacedaemon he learned how to call the dead from their graves;
  • in Memphis he improved in sorcery.

The Chaldeans taught Cyprian astrology and witchcraft according to the stars. The Life describes that by the time he returned to Antioch, the saint had mastered all the sacraments and comprehended all the ways to do evil. Many years later, after accepting Christianity, the saint recalled that he was visited by the prince of darkness himself. The ruler of the dark forces praised Cyprian's intelligence and talent, the depth of his knowledge, and appointed demons to serve and help the sorcerer. He made a promise to make Cyprian his neighbor prince after his death.

The sorcerer mastered all the secrets of the dark world - he seduced people into daring deeds, sowed evil in their hearts. Cyprian helped adulterers who wanted to take revenge, caused damage, and supported the evil and envious. One day, the rich young man Aglaid turned to the sorcerer for help, inflamed with passion for the beautiful Justinia and wanting to win her favor.

The girl was born into a pagan family, her father was a priest. Ustinya accidentally heard the priest's story about the Most Pure Virgin who gave birth to Christ, about the suffering of Jesus for the human race. The gospel story sank into the girl’s pure soul, she began to secretly visit the temple. Conversations with the priest helped Justinia to believe; she told her parents about the Christian faith.

The girl’s mother and father, Edesius, supported her, began going to church at night, and were baptized. Edesius's piety was appreciated and he was appointed presbyter. Justinia served the Lord with prayers, took a vow of chastity, and observed fasts. Having lost Justinia's soul, the devil decided to take revenge on the girl. He kindled a dark, dangerous passion in the rich young man Aglaida, who began to seek Christ’s bride. But the girl refused him, saying that her body would remain immaculate and her heart belonged to Jesus.

The voluptuous young man turned for help to the magician Cyprian, who mastered love magic and promised to help. Hordes of demons were sent to attack the innocent girl:

  1. Dark forces caused languor in Justinia, a thirst for carnal pleasures. Aglaid, who arrived, tried to take possession of the girl, but was expelled in disgrace. Fasting and prayer saved Justinia from temptation. After the sign of the cross, the demons fled.
  2. Stronger and more powerful demons also disappeared, afraid of the cross.
  3. The devil in the guise of a woman tried to convince the girl with words from Scripture, citing Eve as an example, but he was afraid of the prayers and the cross and left.

Cyprian tried many methods for seduction, but he could not break Justinia’s firmness. In anger, the sorcerer turned to the devilish tribe, saying that the girl was stronger than all the demons together. Embittered by unsuccessful magic, Cyprian himself tried to get into the house, incarnating himself in a bird and a woman, but he could not even cross the threshold.

The angry magician decided to force Justinia to surrender in other ways. He sent pestilence and damage first to the girl’s house, and then to the entire city. Diseases affected people and livestock, and disasters occurred in all homes. The townspeople knew that this sorcerer was sending troubles to the city, they came to Justinia and begged her to marry Aglaid.

The adamant girl refused and turned to the Lord for help. Hot, earnest prayer saved the city from misfortunes, all misfortunes miraculously ended. Cyprian was put to shame, people doubted his talents.

Summoning the prince of darkness, Cyprian told him that he no longer believed in his power, that he would not serve, that God’s power was more powerful. The saint wanted to ask Christians to have mercy on him. The devil rushed in anger to destroy the apostate, but Cyprian called on the God of Justina for help and made the sign of the cross. The devil retreated, but promised retribution for his apostasy.

In tears and repentance, Cyprian came to the Church of Christ, asked for help, and brought demonic books. His requests touched the hearts of the priests, and the books were burned in front of a crowd of Christians. Cyprian received baptism.

From then on, the saint devoted his life to serving the Lord, prayed tirelessly, repented of his sins, and led a virtuous life. Cyprian was ordained a bishop, he converted pagans and eradicated idolatry. Justinia became the abbess of the convent.

The Prince of Darkness has not forgotten his promise. He inflamed people's hatred of Cyprian and Justinia. Christians were accused of following a forbidden religion, inciting hatred of the authorities and the ruler, and indignating the people. Cyprian and Justinia were put in prison and brought to trial.

The ruler asked the saint why he refused the Roman gods and the title of priest. Cyprian said that he received his sight and believed in the true God. The martyr was tortured, tortured, forcing him to renounce his faith. Justinia was beaten in the eyes and lips.

Christians were thrown into a boiling cauldron, but from there they glorified God, remaining unharmed. The judge pronounced the sentence - death by beheading. The saint asked that Justinia die first; he did not want the martyr to see the execution and be afraid. After the girl’s death, one of the townspeople who observed the trial declared himself a Christian and asked Cyprian for a blessing. Theoktist and the saint were executed together.

“Day, night, or at any hour, when I begin to read the prayer to the Holy Martyr Cyprian, I believe that all the forces of evil will leave the Glory of the Most High. This Hieromartyr addresses God with the words “O Lord, Holy and Mighty, King of kings, hear now the prayer addressed to you by Your servant, Cyprian.

Lord bless the heart of Your lost servant (name) and may all Your heavenly servants forgive him: thousands of Archangels and Angels serving You. Lord, all the secrets of the heart of Your servant are revealed to You.

Lord Almighty, who rules the whole world, deigns to suffer for all of us sinners in order to atone for our sins. Enlighten me, a sinner, Lord, with Your merciful greatness and take away from me any evil and sorcery that wants to destroy me. Lord, Strong and Great, cover me, a sinner, with Your Light and hear me. Protect the lost and allow him to become a worthy servant of Yours. Strengthen me, Lord, in my faith! Strengthen my fortitude! If I’m in despair, don’t reject me, but bring me some sense!

I bow to You, Lord, I pray and appeal to Your name: protect my house from sorcery, witchcraft, anger, flattering and crafty people. May this bright prayer, read over a person’s head, help him get rid of envy, evil intentions, jealousy, hatred, flattery, drunkenness, slander and intentional murder. May Holy Prayer be a protection for the servant of God and the salvation of his home. Lord Almighty, command the wicked forces to leave my home. Hear me Thy Servant and give a blessing to the house in which this bright prayer is happening. Just as wax melts from fire, let all the evil tricks, sorcery and devilish machinations of the human race melt away.

Give understanding to the lost, Lord, and call them to repentance, as you called me, your Servant (name). I believe in You, Lord Almighty, I know no other God and I worship You. Intercede for me, protect and save me, God, from any sorcery and ill-wishers. Be a patron and helper for me, my children and my home, Lord. Just as it is impossible to stop the flow of rivers, so no evil sorcerer can resist the words of this Bright Prayer. May any demonic intrigues and evil force directed towards Your servant (name) disappear. Lord Almighty, increase the strength of those who read this prayer.

I offer a prayer to all the Angels and the Holy Mother of God. I pray to Jesus Christ, who grants cleansing from sins, and to all his miraculous healings of us sinners. In Your Holy and Great Name I conjure and drive away all the evil intentions of crafty and evil people, all their sorceries and slander, eye damage and their other demonic tricks. O most merciful Lord, take away any evil spirits from Your servant (name) and his house.

May I Thy servant of God (name) be saved on the road, in the sea, in the mountains, in the grass, from scorpions, poisonous snakes and creeping reptiles, when eating and in illness, from loss of blood and other damage by the power of the Life-giving Honorable Cross of the Lord. In prayer I also turn to the holy prophets: Zechariah, Jonah, Hosea, Elijah, Micah, Daniel, Malachi, Eremey, Isaiah, Amos, Elisha, Nahum, Samuel and John the Baptist of the Lord. I pray and ask Luke, John the Theologian, Matthew, Mark, as well as the Apostles of the Most High Saints Peter and Paul.

And also the venerable Radonezh wonderworkers Sergius and Nikon, the Kiev-Pechersk wonderworkers Anthony, Theodosius and Athanasius, the Solovetsky wonderworkers Zosima and Savatius, the Kazan wonderworkers Guria and Barsanuphius. In the name of all the saints, Lord, who have pleased you, Seraphim of Sarov, Daniel Samson, Maximus the Greek, monk Athos of Mount Miletia; Patriarch of Antioch Nikon, Great Martyr Kyriakos and Iulita, his mother, man of God Alexy. In the name of all the holy myrrh-bearers: Magdalene, Mary, Xenia, Euphrosyne, Evdokia, Anastasia and the Holy Great Martyrs Fevronia, Paraskeva, Catherine, Marina, who shed their blood for You.

I believe in the prayer of Saint Cyprian, and I ask the Queen of Heaven to save the servant of God from demonic obsessions. By the power of the Holy Trinity and the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, may all evil and deceit of evil spirits be destroyed. May the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Satavail, Iguasil, Varahail and my Guardian Angel save me, praying to the Most Pure Mother and the Light ethereal heavenly forces, from the networks of the devil. Amen".

Days of celebration

The Day of Glorification of the Saints falls on October 15th. According to popular superstitions, on this day demons and demons want to take revenge and seek meetings with sinners and atheists. People should be careful, avoid mentioning the evil one, do not quarrel, and do not use foul language. Those who like to drink need to avoid alcohol and not give themselves over to the power of a “self-willing demon,” as St. Basil called alcohol. It is difficult for those who voluntarily surrender to demonic power to turn to the Lord for help.

On the day of veneration of Justinia and Cyprian, you need to read prayers to the saints; they will protect you from the power of dark forces.

Prayer to Saint Cyprian and Saint Justina

The prayer to Cyprian and Ustinje is considered very powerful. It helps to remove damage and the influence of other witchcraft. They read the text when their health has deteriorated sharply, they are tormented by malaise and are haunted by problems.

“Oh, holy martyr Cyprian and martyr Justina! Hear our humble prayer. Even though you naturally died as a martyr for Christ during your temporary life, you do not depart from us in spirit, always following the commandments of the Lord, teaching us and patiently bearing your cross with us. Behold, boldness towards Christ God and His Most Pure Mother was acquired by nature. Even now, be prayer books and intercessors for us, the unworthy (Names). Be our intercessors of strength, so that through your intercession we may remain unharmed from demons, wise men and evil men, glorifying the Holy Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen".

Description of the holy image

The holy martyrs are often painted together on images, usually in full height. Justinia is depicted with a cross in her hand, which recalls the suffering and death she endured for her faith. Cyprian is written with a scroll of prayers in his hand or a cross. The robes of saints are often red - the color symbolizes the blood shed for Christ and victory over the tormentors. The cross in the hands of the saints means fidelity to the teachings of Jesus, readiness to follow His path, without fear of mortal torment. An 11th century miniature has survived in which the saints are painted together. Later icons repeat this tradition.

Note: Justinia and Cyprian, who died together, are depicted side by side on the icons - with a cross, in the red robes of martyrs.

  3. The prayer text is read three times.

Carry the heart of God’s servant (name), help him pass all the tests. Protect, preserve and intercede for the one reading this prayer. Bless, Lord, my house and those living in it, Protect from all intrigue and sorcery. May the devil's intention and what he has done be resolved. Lord, You are One and Almighty, save Your Holy Martyr Cyprian, Have mercy on the servant (name). I say this three times, I bow three times. Amen!"

About the burial of the remains

According to Roman tradition, the bodies of executed Christians were thrown into the mud to intimidate and teach people. The remains of the saints lay for 6 days without burial. The Christians managed to take them and transfer them to Rome. The bodies of Justinia, Cyprian and Theoctistus were washed and buried by the pious Christian Rufina. The pilgrimage to the grave of the martyrs began immediately, and miracles occurred through prayers to the saints.

Later, some of the relics were separated and returned to Antioch. When the city was captured by Muslims, Christians managed to take the relics to Cyprus, to the village of Meniko.

The relics were brought to Moscow for veneration in 2005; small particles of the shrine remained in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary at the Conception Monastery.

Troparion to the Hieromartyr Cyprian

Voice 4

“And by character a communicant,/ and a vicar of the throne, an apostle,/ you gained action, inspired by God,/ and visions rose:/ for this sake, correcting the word of truth,/ and for the sake of faith, you suffered even to the point of blood,/ Hieromartyr Cyprian,/ pray to Christ God/ our souls may be saved.”

Canon to the Hieromartyr Cyprian and the Martyr Justina

Song 1

Irmos: The sea of the dark abyss / with damp feet / the ancient Israel who walked, / with the cross-shaped hand of Moses / defeated the power of Amalek in the desert. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. Now established with the Premier rites, O sacred and Divine head, / look down from Heaven upon you who sing piously / and preserve with your prayers. In the darkness of ignorance, reverend, you are fiercely possessed / and you are kindled by the soul-destroying passions of the flesh through intemperance, / you suddenly found glorious transformation, all-blessed. Glory: Thou didst first sit in the seats of the destroyers, Father, / and thou didst glorify Christ again in the seats of the elders, / having been changed by the Lord’s revealed Divine grace. And now: You remained a Virgin after the Nativity: / Having given birth to the Creator of all and the Lord, / appearing unusually and strangely to us as a body, / to the Mother of God, the Ever-Virgin Mother.

Song 3

Irmos: Your Church rejoices in You, Christ, calling: / You are my strength, Lord, / and refuge and confirmation. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. Like Paul, / having transferred your spiritual love to Christ, Cyprian was all-wise, / of whom you were a disciple. Christ betroths you, / instead of passionate vestments, giving you the robe of glory / and the robe of rebirth. Glory: The fasting fast-monger was formerly patient, / later, the all-valid Cyprian, / you were a witness of the Truth. And now: Lordly and truly, we honor You, the Mother of God, / for You gave birth to God, / You were flesh, All-immaculate. Lord, have mercy, three times.

Sedalen, tone 8. Similar to: Wisdom:

Diligently punished for delusion, / like Paul, he was called from Heaven, / We instruct the cross to the light of knowledge, / for we kindle honest virgins with love, / for the sake of which you were united to the Creator of men. / Thus, having exposed the weakness of the enemy, / with it you were honored with the face of the martyrs, / Cyprians, fertilizer for the bishops, / pray to Christ the God of sins to forgive taxes / to those who honor your holy memory with love. Glory, even now, to the Mother of God: In a multi-braided misfortune I fall / from enemies visible and invisible, / overwhelmed by a storm of my countless sins, / and, as to my warm intercession and protection, O Pure One, / I flow to the refuge of Your goodness. / Moreover, O Most Pure One, from Thee Incarnate without a seed / pray diligently for all Thy servants, / who continually pray to Thee, the Most Pure Mother of God, / beseeching Him to grant forgiveness of sins forever / to those who worthily sing Thy glory.

Song 4

Irmos: You are exalted, having seen the Church on the Cross, / the righteous Sun, / standing in your rank, / worthily crying out: / glory to your power, Lord. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. Having awakened, O God-voice, from the first fury, / you denounced all the demonic flattery and soul-spirited charm and, rejoicing, you cried out: / glory to your power, Lord. Justina is valiantly strengthened / and the Pure Virgin and the Joyful One earnestly praying / to escape the snares and snares of the enemy. Glory: Strengthened by the faith of your Bridegroom / and clothed with the power of the Cross, / the demons are hidden, crying out: / glory to your power, Lord. And now: Who by nature is free, / in the image of a slave impoverished by the riches of goodness, Mother of the Ever-Virgin, / from You, according to Hypostasis, all humanity receives.

Song 5

Irmos: You, Lord, are my light, / you came into the world. / Holy Light, turn from darkness of ignorance / those who sing of Thee to faith. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. The champion of the Pure Mother of God, having become rich, Justino, / preserved her honest virginity without harm. The animated Christ and the most beautiful image, / let us honor Justina, / intimate kindness and unstealthy devotion. Glory: The Bride of Christ, ever present and undefiled, / having received suffering and fasting, / righteously wears the crown. And now: The angelic and human mind cannot express / the ineffable and glorious miracle of Your Nativity, / All-Pure One.

Song 6

Irmos: I will devour Thee with a voice of praise, O Lord, / The Church cries out to Thee, / having been cleansed from demonic blood, / for the sake of mercy from Thy side / by the flowing Blood. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. You have reached the depths of the wickedness of the underworld, / but to the extreme of virtue, Father, / you have ascended to the heights, / having been gloriously transformed by Divine Baptism. You were a servant of demons first, / but you appeared to be Christ’s Epiphany disciple, / having loved the last desire with love. Glory: You have brought many martyrs to the Master, / demonstrating the greatest purchase, / purchasing the Kingdom of Heaven, God-wise, with the least blood. And now: Break my captivity of sins, Bride of God, the sinful law, / Granting freedom to life by the law, / Who gave birth to the Lord of the law. Lord, have mercy, three times. Glory, and now:

Kontakion, tone 1. Similar to: The Face of an Angel:

Turning from magical art, O God-Wise One, / to the knowledge of the Divine, / you appeared to the world as the wisest physician, / granting healing to those who honor you, Cyprian and Justina: / with this you prayed to the Lover of Mankind / to save our souls. Ikos: You have sent down your healings, holy gifts, to me, / and heal my ailing heart with sinful pus / with your prayers, / for now I will bring you the word of singing from my unclean lips / and I will sing to your illness, which you have shown, O holy martyr, / with good repentance and the blessed and those approaching God. / He was held by his hand, / you headed, like a ladder, to the Heavenly Ones, / constantly praying to save our souls.

Song 7

Irmos: Thy youths who saved in the fires of Abraham / and, having killed the Chaldeans, / who grasped the truth righteously, / the revered Lord, / God of our father, blessed art thou. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. You entered the hierarchical leadership, / you showed the most sacred image as your hierarch and the rule, crying out: / blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers. Your life-giving right hands are truly a change, Father, who has found, / made you wise, the Speaker of God, singing: / revered Lord, God of our father, blessed art thou. Glory: An invincible weapon against us, blessed, art thou who have appeared, / denouncing him with flattery, singing: / revered Lord, God of our father, blessed art thou. And now: The heavenly faces and the heavenly cathedrals / sing hymns from you, the Mother of God, born, calling: / revered Lord, God of our father, blessed art thou.

Song 8

Irmos: Rejoice, O Jerusalem, rejoice, O ye who love Zion: / For the Lord of hosts has come to reign forever. / Let the whole earth stand in awe at His Face / and let it cry: / Bless all the works of the Lord, the Lord. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. You neglected the wisdom of the Hellenic wisdom, O glorious one, / but the Divine broadcast of the apostles, rattled by the Spirit, father, / and clearly spoken with tongues of fire, you cried out: / bless all the works of the Lord, the Lord. You have risen up into the high and worldly light of the village, / offering to Christ the blood, as an immaculate sacrifice, father, / a living slaughter, pleasant and pleasing, singing: / bless, all the works of the Lord, the Lord. Glory: We are overcome by the indwelling grace in you, / the demonstrators are driven away and the passions of the ailing are driven away, God-wise, / we are satisfied with the return of the Divine light, crying out: / bless, all the works of the Lord, the Lord. And now: They rejoice with the Angelic powers, O Most Pure One, at Thy Nativity, O Mother of God, / and those who call Thee the Mother of God by faith: / For Thou hast given birth to us as a Master and Savior, to Him we sing: / Bless all the works of the Lord, the Lord.

Song 9

Irmos: Eve, through the disease of disobedience, / instilled an oath, / But You, Virgin Mother of God, / Through the vegetation of womb-bearing, You have blossomed with the blessing of the world, / Thus we all magnify You. Chorus: Hieromartyr Cyprian and Martyr Justino, pray to God for us. Above us, who piously sing thee, thou art admiring thee with Divine grace, / by thy prayers, O God-speaker, and crowning with the weapon of benevolence, / grant us peace and salvation, / as the most divine clergyman. The flow of healing abundantly rewards your dust to those who love you; / for you, Cyprians, the God-bearing wives, as they accept the Divine treasure / and diligently reveal the hidden, / so that we may all enjoy it for you. Glory: Direct our progress towards Christ, O rich one, through deeds, / and God-pleasing life, and the purest purification / imploring God’s quietness, as a most compassionate hierarch. And now: Strengthen our spiritual weakness, O Mother of God, by Thy power, / resolve the burden, O Most Holy One, imposed on Thy servant, / the Sun that has risen unspeakably to the world of righteousness.

Miracles that occurred through prayers to the saints

Grateful for the help, people leave notes in churches describing the miracles that occurred through prayer to the Hieromartyr Cyprian and Justinia:

  1. A young man came to visit the relics, having lost the ability to speak normally after undergoing surgery and treatment. After the prayers, the man’s voice returned, although the doctors did not promise healing.
  2. The mother brought her daughter, suffering from inflammation of the mucous membranes of the throat, to the monastery to see the relics. Antibiotics did not help, the girl could no longer speak or swallow. Holy water, application to the relics, and prayers completely cured the child.
  3. A woman who had lost her son turned to Cyprian with prayers in the monastery. For a long time she could not find the fifteen-year-old boy. Returning from prayers, the mother found the child in the hospital with a serious injury.

There are many known cases where application to the relics of Saints Cyprian and Justinia or prayer drove out demons from people possessed for many years.

Information: church rites or prayers of those close to Cyprian and Justinia helped people get rid of the devil's obsession. The saints pray to the Lord for those who need to overcome dependence on demonic forces.
