The life story of Saint Matrona of Moscow

Matrona was born at the end of the 19th century into an ordinary peasant family. From birth, the girl had no eyeballs and was blind. After the birth of the child, the elderly parents by that time, according to life, wanted to hand over the child to the orphanage of Prince Golitsyn, however, subsequently the mother had a dream about how big

a white slab of incredible beauty flew in and landed on her chest. Surprisingly, the bird was blind. Natalya Nikonovna, Matrona’s mother, decided that this was a sign from God and left the child in the family.

According to the scriptures, already from childhood, Blessed Matrona knew how to heal people and predict the future, all thanks to her deep faith in the Lord.

At the age of about 17, Matrona lost her legs. Being a deeply religious person, with the help of other people, she managed to travel to shrines. She managed to visit the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, St. Petersburg, and other cities and holy places in Russia. During her lifetime, the matron experienced persecution, misunderstanding and contempt, both from certain social groups and from the godless authorities.

Almost every day, Blessed Matrona received up to 40 people, giving people advice, healing them from illnesses and ailments. During her lifetime, the saint was revered by the clergy of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra; she regularly received communion and confessed to the Lord.

Matrona received and helped people until her death, which she predicted 3 days before it occurred.

With the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II, on March 8, 1998, the saint’s grave was opened, and her relics were moved to the Danilov Monastery, then placed in a shrine (silver tomb) in the Church of the Intercession. Her grave became a place of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians for many years. Access to the relics of Matrona is open daily from 7 a.m. (Sunday from 6 a.m.) to 8 p.m.

In May 1999, Blessed Matrona was canonized by the Moscow diocese. In October 2004, her church-wide Orthodox canonization took place.

How to address Saint Matrona correctly?

In order for your prayer to be pleasing to God and to be heard by the saint, you must follow the following rules:

  • Faith is the most important thing . If you simply read a prayer from a tablet, a piece of paper, or contact a saint according to a schedule, we are afraid to upset you, your efforts will be in vain. Many people think that they put deep meaning into words, but in fact they do not fully understand and realize the power of their faith.
  • Be Orthodox in everything . Work can be done both for the benefit of others, and for the sole purpose of receiving money. If you want to get work, be sure that when you do it, you are not deceiving people or bringing them misfortune.
  • Help others . Help from above comes to those who really need it and deserve it. If you yourself are able to help someone, do not skimp on a good deed, and it will come back to you several times over. It doesn’t matter what it will be: helping an old woman, some concert person, donating to a charity fund or for the construction of a temple. Every good deed will find its response!
  • Work for the benefit of people . Always remain human, remember that you yourself are able to help someone on this earth. Help a grandmother cross the road, help a driver with a flat tire on the side of the road, teach a child math, help with a foreign language. What will cost you nothing will be a sincere desire for someone, for which he can ask the Lord. Remember this!
  • Prayer is not a panacea . No matter how scary it may sound, religion is becoming fashionable. Many people pray insincerely and come to churches not because they themselves really want to, but because they want to look like believers in the eyes of others. To receive God’s help, so that the saints can hear you, you must live a Christian life: pray and receive communion regularly, attend divine services, observe fasts to the best of your ability, do good deeds, read the sacred scriptures.

You can address the saint as “Holy Blessed Matrona”, “Blessed Matrona”, “Blessed Eldress, Matrona of Moscow”. End your prayer with the words: “Let not my will be done, but Thine, O Lord.”

Request for success at work

Many people need support at work. They have no one else to turn to except the saints. A prayer is read to Matrona of Moscow for work and success in it. These sacred words can be spoken to mother in the following cases:

  • if you couldn’t get a good position at work;
  • when conflicts arise with superiors;
  • if you need to get a promotion to support your family.

A powerful prayer to Matrona about work is read in this way:

It doesn't matter where the text is spoken. The main thing is that a person should have the face of a saint in front of him. Remember that before reading the words about work, you must confess. To do this, you should contact a clergyman, who is always ready to help.

If prayer doesn't help

Do you fervently pray to Saint Matrona, but your work cannot be found? Don't rush to despair! There are reasons for everything:

  • Sins . If you turn to Matrona, but you yourself continue to commit sins without repenting before the Lord, your most sincere prayers will not be heard. Proverbs 13:3 “He who guards his mouth guards his life...”
  • Solve the problem yourself
    . If you decide you can pray and the Holy One will do everything for you, then you are mistaken. We can receive a blessing from above, but we must make no less effort on our own. As they say: “The road appears under the feet of the one who walks.”
  • Be patient
    . Sometimes our prayers are not fulfilled as quickly as we want, because the Lord tests the sincerity and strength of our intentions. Do not give up, continue to pray and do everything to solve your problem, and we assure you that it will definitely be found!
  • It's not time yet . It happens that we ask for something that we are not really ready to receive. Sometimes it is useful to look at yourself from the outside, look at your sins, and understand what really prevents us from getting what we so desire.
  • Everything is the will of God . Only God knows what is truly in store for us. Sooner or later people come to this. But everyone must go their own way to realize and believe.
