In June 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' blessed Orthodox Christians to pray for peace and prosperity in the fraternal state. Four years have passed since then, a lot has changed, but the Patriarch’s parting words are still relevant. The civil strife in Ukraine is not over, the ATO troops are still bringing devastation and grief to the civilians of Donbass.
To all this was added another misfortune - a split. President of the country Petro Poroshenko asked Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to provide the country with a tomos on the autocephaly of the Ukrainian church. The ruler of Constantinople did not refuse, appointing two exarchs.
Patriarch Bartholomew is under the influence of the United States, and this is a known fact. In recent years, Americans have been getting closer to Russian borders, scenarios for color revolutions are constantly being written, and NATO military bases are being built in the countries of the former Soviet Union. The people become bargaining chips in big political games; the propaganda machine works for this.
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' addressed his flock with a heartfelt speech regarding this event, calling on them not to spare effort in praying for peace in Ukraine. In the former Soviet granary, terrible events are taking place, comparable to the persecution of the Orthodox Church in Soviet Russia:
“They are trying to drag the Ukrainian church into a deep conflict that divides society, and make it a hostage of this conflict... Violent seizures of churches are taking place, court decisions are being ignored, a slanderous information campaign is being waged against the church, bills are being proposed in the Ukrainian parliament, the purpose of which is to discriminate and put people in the most difficult conditions. the largest religious community in the country... Our Church will never leave its brothers in Ukraine in trouble and will not abandon them. We will never agree to change the sacred canonical boundaries of our Church, for Kyiv is the spiritual cradle of Holy Rus', like Mtskheta for Georgia or Kosovo for Serbia.”
The primate also asked the Orthodox to read the following prayer regarding the peace agreement in Ukraine:
Lord Jesus Christ our God, look with Your merciful eye on the sorrow and painful cry of Your children living in the land of Ukrainians.
Deliver Your people from internecine warfare, quench bloodshed, and avert impending troubles. Bring the homeless into their homes, feed the hungry, console the weeping, and bring the divided together.
Do not leave Your flock, from your relatives who are in bitterness, to diminish, but quickly reconciliation as you generously grant. Soften the hardened hearts and turn them to Your knowledge. Grant peace to Thy Church and her faithful children, so that with one heart and one mouth we may glorify Thee, our Lord and Savior forever and ever.
Amen.
Address by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
More than two years ago, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry initiated the All-Ukrainian Procession of the Cross in the name of love and peace. He also called for reading a special prayer for peace in Ukraine. Its text is as follows:
Master Almighty, most merciful Lord, accept our kneeling prayers and our humble tears offered before Thy Holy Altar at this time of trouble and sorrow of Thy people, accept the intercession of all our holy relatives, whom we now call for help and intercession, so that the light of Thy love may be revealed on Your Cross has enlightened every suffering person in this world, in the darkness of enmity and lawlessness.
Accept the petition of the holy and faithful Prince Vladimir, the baptist and enlightener of our land; accept the prayer of the passion-bearers Saints Boris and Gleb, who teach not to raise your hand against your brother; accept the intercession of Your saints Anthony and Theodosius and with them all the reverend men and women, who made their souls whiter than snow with tears of repentance; accept the exploits of the new martyrs and confessors, who through their sufferings preserved our saving faith in You; accept the petitions of all the saints of Your Church, who have sanctified our land with their labors. Most of all, accept the prayerful Protection of Your Most Holy Mother, Our Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, by Her shameless intercession Your people have been delivered many times from all enmity and internecine strife.
Hear us, O God, our Savior, and be merciful, merciful Master to all those who suffer and are burdened, and forgive us our debts, teaching us to leave the grievances of our debtor, and bow Your anger to Your mercy, pacifying all sedition and disorder in our power For You are our only good and humane God, and to You we send glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Amen.
Prayer for peace in Ukraine. Address of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill
These days, we Ukraine is going through probably the most tragic period in its history. We see - Kyiv is burning, Khreshchatyk is burning, shots are heard, there are dead, many wounded, and it is unknown how it will all end.
Kyiv has not experienced such a tragic moment since the Second World War and has already crossed the line beyond which casualties begin and blood flows. Such chaos is now sweeping across all of Ukraine and in all its cities there are murders and lawlessness, horror and tragedy that make people’s hearts groan.
Among them are our relatives, our loved ones, friends, acquaintances, our brothers in faith. And, probably, now it is everyone’s duty to bring their own personal prayer for peace on this earth. Let us pray that the Lord will destroy all enmity, hatred, and aggression in the hearts of our brothers. To instill patience and love into hearts.
Prayers for an end to hostility are served in all churches in Ukraine and Russia. Also, mournful memorial services are already being served for those who died in Ukraine during these tragic days.
Petition for a special litany
We also pray to the Lord our God to completely destroy all strife, contention, division, enmity and malice in our power, to grant silence to our people and to protect us with the desired peace, saying to all: Lord, hear and graciously have mercy.
Prayer at the Divine Liturgy
Lord God of strength! Look with Your merciful eye on our terribly suffering Ukraine, in which, because of our iniquities, disorder, discord, and civil strife have multiplied. You, Lord, weigh our misfortune, weigh our anger, hear the groans of innocent babies, orphans and widows.
You once spared Nineveh, the great city, for the sake of its repentance, spare our dear Motherland.
Speak Your omnipotent word into the hearts of the preachers of godlessness and wickedness, enlighten their minds, darkened by pride, and let our evil adversary the devil, who sows tares in Your village, be put to shame.
Lord, merciful God, Almighty God, again and again we fall before You and tearfully cry out in repentance and tenderness of heart: have mercy on the Ukrainian land, quench all discord and disorder, pacify the hearts overwhelmed by passions, breathe courage into the hearts of those who stand guard over the well-being of our Fatherland and illuminate us all with the light of Thy Gospel law, warm our hearts with the warmth of Thy goodness, confirm our will in Thy will. Yes, as in ancient times, so now on our land, and in us, and through us, Your all-holy Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit will be glorified. Amen.
Prayer 2 at the Divine Liturgy
Lord Almighty, Holy King.
Look from heaven and see how the people of our land are at enmity and plotting vain and evil things against each other. Oh, Most Merciful! Forgive our sins and iniquities, for the sake of which many sorrows, misfortunes and fears have come upon us. With the grace of the Most Holy Spirit, water the withered hearts of men with love, overgrown with thorns of self-love, hatred, envy, malice, enmity, wickedness and other iniquities, so that the love burning for You and your brothers may increase, and through it may all strife, discord, divisions in our Fatherland be destroyed . We earnestly pray to You: grant peace to our power, to Your Church and to all the people of our land.
For You are the King of the world and Your peace knows no bounds, and to You may glory, thanksgiving and worship be sent from all, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill to the fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church in connection with the events in Ukraine
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' made an appeal to the fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church in connection with the events in Ukraine.
All-honorable archpastors and shepherds, dear brothers and sisters - children of the church!
With excitement, pain and anxiety I followed and am following the events in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine. Kyiv is the birthplace of the great Orthodox civilization that united the peoples of Holy Rus'.
Kyiv is the city of a single font of Baptism, the 1025th anniversary of which we recently celebrated together with all the Local Orthodox Churches. For me, Kyiv is a special, dear city to me, where I have often been, a city that I love and know well.
It is unbearably painful to hear the news of many victims in this holy place, of hundreds of wounded, of unrest in various regions of Ukraine.
Our entire multinational Church fervently prays for peace on the land of Ukraine, for an end to civil strife. Our brothers and sisters in Ukraine are now experiencing one of the most dramatic moments in their history. The future fate of the Ukrainian people depends on what is happening.
For now, thank God, the civil war scenario has been suspended. But such a scenario can still come true.
This will happen if the Lord allows people to deviate from the moral commandments given by God and from the Christian heritage of Ukraine, if the inhabitants of Ukraine renounce respect for themselves, for each other and for the law.
I would like to thank those representatives of the Ukrainian episcopate and clergy who, among calls and slogans of various kinds, found the strength to consistently call on the warring parties to peace and brotherly love; those who firmly stand for the right of Ukrainians to live in accordance with their faith and piety, for the preservation of moral and religious values traditional for Ukraine, the source of which is the Kiev baptismal font, which determined the civilizational development of the peoples of Holy Rus'.
With all my heart, mourning the dead, compassion for their loved ones, empathizing with the wounded, I ask the pastors and children of the Russian Orthodox Church to offer prayers to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Most Pure Mother.
Let us pray for the repose of the dead brothers and sisters, for the healing of the wounded and sick, for the pacification of hardened hearts, for the end of discord and unrest in Ukraine, for the Lord to send down to all of us the spirit of love, peace, forgiveness and brotherly love in Christ!

Prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ
The Patriarch also always calls to pray to Jesus Christ, since he is always ready to help people. Text of the prayer:
Lord, Lover of Mankind, King of the ages and Giver of good things, who destroyed the enmity of the mediastinum and gave peace to the human race, grant now peace to Thy servant, root Thy fear in them and establish love for each other: quench all strife, take away all disagreements and temptations. For You are our peace, and to You we send glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Amen.
To the Most Holy Lady
The Most Holy Theotokos never refused to help people; you can turn to her with these words:
Soften our evil hearts, Mother of God, and extinguish the misfortunes of those who hate us, and resolve all the tightness of our souls. Looking at Your holy image, we are touched by Your suffering and mercy for us and we kiss Your wounds, but we are horrified by our arrows, tormenting You. Do not let us, merciful Mother, perish in our hard-heartedness and from the hard-heartedness of our neighbors, for You are truly the Softener of evil hearts.
Prayer for peace in Ukraine to the holy passion-bearers Boris and Gleb:
Oh, sacred duo, beautiful brethren, noble passion-bearers Boris and Gleb, who from their youth served Christ with faith, purity and love, and adorned themselves with their blood like scarlet, and now reign with Christ! Do not forget us who exist on earth, but as warm intercessors, by your strong intercession before Christ God, preserve the young in holy faith and purity, unharmed from every excuse of unbelief and impurity, protect us all from all sorrow, bitterness and vain death, tame all enmity and malice, raised up by the action of the devil from neighbors and strangers. We pray to you, Christ-loving passion-bearers, ask the Great-Gift Master for forgiveness of our sins, unanimity and health, deliverance from the invasion of foreigners, internecine warfare, plagues and famine. Provide with your intercession (enumeration: country, city) and all who honor your holy memory, forever and ever.
Amen.
SEQUENCE ABOUT INCREASING LOVE AND ABOUT ERADICATING HATE AND ALL EVIL
With the blessing of the late His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir, it has been read in churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church since 2014.
TEXT
Great Litany:
Let us pray to the Lord in peace.
About the world of the whole world:
Let us pray diligently to the Lord to cleanse us from our sins and iniquities, which dry up our love for God and for our neighbors, and to restore it by the power, action and grace of His Most Holy Spirit and root it in the hearts of all of us.
Let us pray to the Lord for the all-encompassing grace of His Most Holy Spirit to instill in us the new commandment of His New Testament, to love one another and not to please ourselves, but to always be zealous for the glory of God and the creation of our neighbor.
Let us earnestly pray to the Lord to eradicate in us hatred, envy, malice and all other passions that destroy brotherly love, and unfeigned love of all things.
Let us pray to the Lord to kindle the warm love for God and for our neighbors in us with the grace of His Most Holy Spirit, and with that to burn all the passions of our souls and bodies from the root.
Let us pray to the Lord to eradicate the passion of self-love in us, and to root in us the virtue of brotherly love through the power of His Most Holy Spirit.
For us not to love the world and everything in the world, but to love God with true love and His glory, and the benefit and salvation of our neighbors, and to see the good things prepared in heaven ever since, and to seek these with all our souls, let us pray to the Lord.
Let us pray to the Lord to force us by the power, action and grace of His Most Holy Spirit, not just our friends and brothers, but also to truly love our enemies, and to do good to those who hate us, to pray for them, and to have diligence for their salvation.
Always pay attention to yourself, always be aware of yourself and your own sins, humble yourself before God and before everyone, never condemn your brother, but as if you love yourself, by the power, action and grace of the Most Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord.
Let us pray to the Lord that we might be jealous of the ancient Christians for God and for our brothers of burning love, and to be heirs and successors of those, not in an exact image, but in the practical truth, power, action and grace of the Most Holy Spirit.
Let us pray to the Lord for our unshakable orthodoxies, burning in peace and union of love, and those who excel in all virtues, and to keep us unharmed from all suffocating passions, by the power, action and grace of the Most Holy Spirit.
About getting rid of us:
Exclamation: As befits:
Troparion, tone 4:
By the union of love, You bound Your apostles, O Christ, and thus firmly bound us Your faithful servants to Yourself, to keep Your commandments and to love each other unfeignedly, through the prayers of the Mother of God, the One Lover of Mankind.
Kontakion, tone 5:
Our hearts were kindled with the flame of love for You, Christ God, so that with that kindling, in our hearts, in our minds and in our souls, and with all our strength, we love You, and our neighbors as ourselves, and by keeping Your commandments we glorify You, the Giver of all good things.
Prokeimenon, tone 7:
I will love You, O Lord, my strength, the Lord is my strength.
Verse: My God is my Helper and I trust in Him.
Reading of the Epistle of John (1 John 3, 1, 10-11, 16, 18; 4, 9-11, 20-21).
Beloved, you see what kind of love the Father has given to us, so that we may be called children of God and we are. For this reason, the essence of the child of God and the child of the devil is revealed. Everyone who does not do righteousness is not from God, and do not love his brother. For this is the testament that you heard from the beginning, that we love each other. For this knowledge of love, for He laid down His soul for us: and we must lay down our souls for our brethren. My children, we do not love in word or tongue, but in deed and truth. For this reason the love of God has appeared in us, as God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, so that we may live by Him. There are loves about this, not as we loved God, but as He loved us, and He sent His Son for cleansing for our sins. Beloved, if God has loved us, we must love each other. If anyone says that he loves God, but hates his brother, there is a lie: for if you do not love your brother, who you have seen, God, who you have not seen, how can you love? And this commandment of the imams is from Him, that he who loves God, loves his brother.
Or:
Reading of the Epistle of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, part. 153 from the floor (1 Cor. 13, 1-8a, 13; 14, 1a).
Brethren, even if I speak the tongues of men and of angels, I am not in love, but I am like a ringing brass, or a clanging cymbal: And if I am a prophecy, and I know all the mysteries and the whole mind, and if I am not the whole faith, as if I left behind mountains, I do not love Imam, I am nothing. And even if I give away all my possessions, and even if I give up my body to be burned, love is not an imam, there is no benefit for me. Lyuba is long-suffering and merciful; He does not envy love, he does not exalt himself in love, he is not proud, he is not rude, he does not seek his own, he is not irritated, he does not think evil, he does not rejoice in untruth, he rejoices in the truth, he loves everything, he has faith in everything, he trusts everything, he endures everything. There is no more love. Now there remains faith, hope, love, these three: but greater than these are loves. Stick to love.
Alleluia, tone 8:
Verse 1: Love the Lord, all you who reverence Him.
Verse 2: For the Lord seeks truth.
Reading from John the Holy Gospel, count. 46 from the floor (13, 34-35; 15, 12-14).
The Lord spoke to His disciples, I give you a new commandment, that you love one another: as you have loved, so that you also love yourselves. Everyone understands this, because you are My disciples, if you have love among each other. This is My commandment, that you love one another as you have loved. No one has greater sowing love, but whoever lays down his life for his friends.
You are my friends by nature, and if you do anything, I command you.
Litany of extremes:
Lord our God, mercifully, as if you are Good, look upon the land of our hearts, parched in love, frozen with thorns of hatred, self-love and countless iniquities, and releasing a drop of the grace of Your Most Holy Spirit, richly water this, so that the root of all may be fruitful and grow from the burning love for You. virtues, Your fear, and non-lazy care for the salvation of your neighbor, but the eradication of all passions and manifold deceits and hypocrisy, as we diligently pray to the Giver of all good things, Hear soon and philanthropically have mercy.
Thy commandment to love one another given to Thy disciples, Master, renew this with the grace of Thy Most Holy Spirit indeed in our souls and in our hearts, and not only for our own benefit, but always for pleasing Thee and for the salvation and benefit of our neighbors, we pray to Thee. , O Gracious Benefactor, hear and have mercy.
The first and great commandment is to love You, our God and Creator, with all our soul, with all our thoughts and strength, and the second, similar to it, is to love our neighbors, as you have given yourself to us, Master. You yourself encourage us to fulfill this deed, so that You may please our Savior and be jealous for the salvation of our neighbors, we will receive Your good promise, as to our Master and Savior, we diligently fall down, we pray, soon hear and have mercy.
May we, in perfect love for You, our God, have unfeigned love for our neighbors, move us with Your Spirit by grace, Master. For you, have love for You, but hate your brother, there is a lie and it walks in darkness. With the same love for You and for the brethren, O Most Merciful One, our souls and hearts have broken and we pray, for the Merciful One will soon hear and for the Generous One to have mercy.
Instill in us Your love through the power of the grace of Your Most Holy Spirit, O All-Bountiful Lord, so that not only our brethren and friends, but also our enemies, according to Your Divine commandment, we will truly love and do good to those who hate us, and sincerely strive for their salvation, we pray to You, goodness Source of Puchino’s love for mankind, soon hear and be merciful.
Prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ:
Lord Jesus Christ our God, having given your disciples a new commandment to love one another, accept this prayer for the forgiveness of the sins of all of us, your faithful servants, and renew the love that has dried up in us for you and for the brethren with your Holy Spirit and firmly plant this in our hearts, so that by fulfilling Your commandments, we will not seek our own benefit on earth, but we will be zealous for Your glory and for the creation and salvation of our neighbors, so that in love and peace with everyone who has lived in this age, we will be honored, together with those who have pleased You, in the heavenly abodes Thee and Thy Beginningless Father and the Holy Spirit to the endless ages of ages.
