When preparing for the maternity hospital, collecting necessary things and shopping for the baby, the main thing is not to forget about prayer. You can’t do this without God’s help. Prayer should not leave the heart of a pregnant woman either during pregnancy or during childbirth. Of course, at the very moment of delivery there is no time for prayer, but during labor this can help a woman calm down and call on heavenly help in difficult times. A mother can read prayers and akathists for her daughter (or a mother-in-law for her daughter-in-law). A special prayer service is held in the temple before childbirth.
How does prayer help?
When going for a caesarean section, you should not neglect any means that will help you safely survive the operation and gain peace of mind. You can prepare for the operation in advance and read prayers that have already passed the test of time and many women in labor.
A pregnant woman will certainly be heard by the Higher Powers:
- will gain peace of mind;
- the surgical intervention will take place without undesirable complications;
- the baby will be born healthy and strong;
- the rehabilitation period will not bring complications.
The woman in labor is recommended to start reading prayers in advance - already a month or two in advance she should prepare for the most important moment in her life.
Texts of strong prayers before childbirth with caesarean section
It is recommended to memorize the texts of prayers for the successful completion of a surgical operation, however, if it is difficult for the expectant mother to do this, it is not forbidden to read from a piece of paper.
Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ blesses families with the birth of children for procreation, and first of all people turn to him for help before performing a surgical operation. According to the testimonies of mothers, the birth proceeded quickly, and after a cesarean section they quickly returned to their normal life, the stitches did not come apart or rot.
“Lord Jesus Christ, our God, begotten of the Eternal Father by the Son before the ages, and in the last days, by the good will and assistance of the Holy Spirit, was born of the Most Holy Virgin like a child, given birth and laid in a manger. The Lord Himself, who in the beginning created man and woman, bound him, giving them the commandment: Grow and multiply, and fill the earth; According to Your great mercy, have mercy on Your servant (name), who is preparing to give birth according to Your commandment.
Forgive her voluntary and involuntary sins, by Thy grace grant her the strength to be safely relieved of her burden, keep her and the baby in health and well-being, protect me with Thy Angels and save her from the hostile action of evil spirits, and from all evil things. For You are a Good and Lover of Mankind, and we send glory to You, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen".
Great Martyr Catherine
The Great Martyr Catherine of Alexandria is equally revered in both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. People turn to her for help when they want to create a strong and happy family, as well as during pregnancy, in order to give birth to a strong and healthy baby. Catherine herself was never married and had no children. Even in her youth, she was miraculously betrothed to the Heavenly Bridegroom, and remained faithful to him until her martyrdom.
“Oh Saint Catherine, the true bride and martyr of Christ! We pray to you through special grace, with which your Bridegroom, Sweetest Jesus, has preceded you: just as you have put to shame the charms of the tormentor, with your wisdom you have overcome fifty branches and, having drunk them with Heavenly teaching, you have guided them to the light of true faith, so ask us for this Godly wisdom, and We, having thwarted all the machinations of the hellish tormentor and despised the temptations of the world and the flesh, will become worthy of the Divine glory and will become worthy vessels for the expansion of our holy Orthodox faith, and with you in the Heavenly Tabernacle we praise and glorify our Lord and Master Jesus Christ to all ages. Amen".
Matrona of Moscow
Matronushka of Moscow suffered from blindness and other ailments since childhood, but she never refused to help those who turned to her. Even during her lifetime, people who had health problems came to Moscow from many parts of the world and asked the saint to pray to the Lord for them and beg him for healing. And today, being in Heaven, she intercedes with the Almighty for expectant mothers who are about to give birth surgically. After turning to the saint, many found long-awaited calm and stopped worrying about the operation.
“Holy Blessed Matronushka, we thank you for your good help in conception. Say your holy prayers and ask the Lord for the child to be healthy and happy, for the birth to be easy and without complications, to bless the hands of the doctors and medical staff. By your earnest requests, may there always be peace and love in our home. May the Lord forgive us our sins and give us strength to correct ourselves. Through your prayers may we receive grace and glorify the One God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen".
Panteleimon the Healer
For many years, prayers addressed to Panteleimon the Healer have helped people avoid health problems, strengthen faith and get rid of groundless worries. The saint is also asked to bless expectant mothers who are about to undergo surgery. If possible, the relatives of the woman in labor can go to venerate the relics of Panteleimon the Healer and there ask for a special blessing for the upcoming birth.
“O great servant of Christ, passion-bearer and merciful physician, Panteleimon! Have mercy on me, a sinful slave, hear my groaning and cry, propitiate the heavenly, supreme Physician of our souls and bodies, Christ our God, may He grant me healing from the illness that oppresses me.
Accept the unworthy prayer of the most sinful man above all, visit me with a gracious visit, do not disdain my sinful wounds, anoint me with the oil of your mercy and heal me; Yes, healthy in soul and body, I will be able to spend the rest of my days, by the grace of God, in repentance and pleasing God and will be worthy to receive a good end to my life. Hey, servant of God! Pray to Christ God, that through your intercession he may grant me health to my body and salvation to my soul. Amen".
Holy Mother of God
The Most Holy Theotokos, the Virgin Mary, was a mother herself, and therefore understands all the experiences of girls who are about to give birth surgically. People turn to her for blessings not only before surgery, but also before giving birth naturally.
“Oh, Most Glorious Mother of God, have mercy on me, Your servant, and come to my aid during my illnesses and dangers, with which all poor daughters of Eve give birth to children. Remember, O Blessed One among women, with what joy and love You went hastily to the mountainous country to visit Your relative Elizabeth during her pregnancy, and what a wonderful effect Your gracious visit had on both mother and baby.
And according to Your inexhaustible mercy, grant also to me, Your humble servant, to be freed from the burden safely; Grant me this grace, so that the child who now rests under my heart, having come to his senses, with a joyful leap, like the holy baby John, will worship the Divine Lord Savior, Who, out of love for us sinners, did not disdain to become a baby Himself. May the unspeakable joy with which Your virgin heart was filled at the sight of Your newborn Son and Lord, sweeten the sorrow that awaits me amidst the pains of birth.
May the life of the world, my Savior, born of You, save me from death, which cuts off the lives of many mothers at the hour of resolution, and may the fruit of my womb be numbered among the elect of God. Hear, O Most Holy Queen of Heaven, my humble prayer and look upon me, a poor sinner, with the eye of Your grace; do not shame my trust in Your great mercy and overshadow me. Helper of Christians, Healer of illnesses, may I also be honored to experience for myself that You are the Mother of mercy, and may I always glorify Your grace, which has never rejected the prayers of the poor and delivers all those who call on You in times of sorrow and illness. Amen".
Maternal
Almighty God, Creator of everything visible and invisible! We, gifted with reason, come to You, beloved Father, because You, on special advice, created our race, with ineffable wisdom creating our body from the earth and breathing into it a soul from Your Spirit, so that we would be Your likeness. And although it was in Your will to create us at once, like the Angels, if only You wanted, yet Your wisdom was pleased that through husband and wife, in the order of marriage established by You, the human race would multiply; You wanted to bless people so that they would grow and multiply and fill not only the earth, but also the hosts of Angels.
O God and Father, may Your name be praised and glorified forever for all that You have done for us!
I also thank You for Your mercy, that not only I, by Your will, came from Your wonderful creation and am joining the number of the chosen ones, but that You deigned to bless me in marriage and sent me the fruit of the womb. This is Your gift, Your Divine mercy, O Lord and Father of spirit and body! Therefore, I turn to You alone and pray to You with a humble heart for mercy and help, so that what You are doing in me by Your power may be preserved and brought to a successful birth. For I know, O God, that it is not in the power and power of man to choose our own path: we are too weak and prone to fall to bypass all those snares that the evil spirit sets for us, according to Your permission, and to avoid those misfortunes in which our frivolity plunges us into. Your wisdom is limitless. Whoever You wish, You will preserve unharmed through Your Angel from all adversity.
Therefore, I, merciful Father, commend myself in my sorrow into Your hands and pray that You look at me with the eye of mercy and save me from all suffering. Send me and my dear husband joy, O God, Master of all joy, so that, at the sight of Your blessing, we worship You with all our hearts and serve with a joyful spirit. I do not want to be taken away from what You have imposed on our entire race, commanding us to give birth to children in illness. But I humbly ask You to help me endure the suffering and send me a successful outcome. And if You hear this prayer of ours and send us a healthy, good child, then we swear to bring him again to You and dedicate him to You, so that You may remain for us and our seed a merciful God and Father, as we swear to always be Your faithful servants together with our child .
Hear, O Merciful God, the prayer of Your last servant, fulfill the prayer of our hearts for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior, who became incarnate for our sake, now abides with You and the Holy Spirit and reigns in eternity. Amen.
Prayers before surgery
Prayer before a caesarean section should be directed not only to one Supreme Patron, but to several Saints. Each of them will provide some help, but it is important to take into account that the appeal must be sincere and come from the depths of the soul; it is better to forget about grief and sadness, completely surrendering to thoughts about the child.
It would also be useful for relatives who are worried about the woman in labor to study several prayer requests that will contribute to the safe birth of the baby. The patron saints will certainly react and prevent trouble.
Prayer of the expectant mother to the Lord Jesus Christ for the successful delivery of a healthy child
One of the main appeals is a prayer before Caesar, ascending to the Lord. It sounds like this:
“Jesus Christ, who was born of the eternal Father, with the assistance and pure favor of the Holy Spirit, help us, who keep Your basic commandments, to grow and multiply, to fill our Earth. Do not despise your servant (name), who gives birth in the name of His Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Forgive her all her sins, both voluntary and involuntary, grant her strength with Your grace, help her get rid of the burden, save her and the baby’s life, try to protect her with Your Angels from the machinations of evil, unkind spirits.”
Great Martyr Catherine
Since ancient times, Saint Catherine has been considered the patroness of women in labor and is always ready to help after an appeal. The appeal to the Great Martyr sounds like this:
“Beautiful Virgin, wise patroness of women, come to my aid in difficult times. Showing your intercession to wives who are going through the pains of childbirth, show your protection, allow them to easily endure childbirth in order to raise the child in the fear of God. I pray to You with tears and reverence, that You will not leave me, do not reject me, and hasten to heal me after I have been relieved of the burden. Amen".
Prayer before Caesarean section to Matrona of Moscow
Contacting Saint Matrona before an artificial birth will allow you not only to easily undergo surgery, but also to quickly heal.
“Matrona, your soul is far away, guarding the Golden Throne of the Lord, but the ashes remain on the ground. Hear my appeal, allow slave (name) to find peace and ask God to provide me with his protection. Let me give birth to a healthy baby, don’t make him pay for my sins, which I sincerely repent of every day and night. I trust only in You and believe that Your mercy will be limitless. Amen".
Panteleimon the Healer
“Saint Panteleimon, imitator of my Lord! Hear your sinful servant (name) and intercede before the Lord, ask Him for protection, may favor extend to me. Heal my wounds of body and soul, grant me and my baby health, and cover me with prosperity. Let me be worthy of holy mercy, help me glorify the Lord our God for many years.”
Prayer during childbirth as an assistant to the Blessed Virgin Mary
The highest patroness of women who are preparing for the birth of a baby, the Most Holy Theotokos, after a sincere appeal, will certainly give strength to cope with childbirth, heal the woman in labor physically, allow her to enjoy peace of mind, and prevent harm to the child.
“My merciful Mother, kindest Most Holy Theotokos! Show mercy to me, do not despise me, Your many-sinful servant. I resort to Your will and ask - visit my weak soul and ask Your Son for mercy, strength, and health for me and my baby. I trust in You - keep me under Your cover.”
Who needs to pray
It is recommended, first of all, to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ for a successful operation. They also make requests to such saints as Matrona of Moscow, Panteleimon the Healer, the Virgin Mary and the Great Martyr Catherine. The expectant mother can recite the texts of these prayers at home if, for health reasons, it is difficult for her to attend church.
There is also a special prayer service that can be ordered in every church - “To the woman before her generation.”
It has a special grace-filled power, which is known to all clergy; they read it before the birth of mothers and other parishioners who are pregnant.
It is also recommended to submit a note at the church for the liturgy; in this case, the child is born healthy, and the surgical intervention itself does not lead to dangerous complications for the mother. If the woman in labor herself cannot stand the liturgy in church, close relatives - spouse, parents, brothers and sisters - can do this for her.
Orthodox prayer during childbirth
Childbirth is a natural, life process. Previously, women generally did without doctors, and only helped themselves with Christian prayer during childbirth. Moreover, all the families were large, not one or two children, as now, but they gave birth to 5-6 children and there was enough health for everyone. Now, of course, is not the century before last - you shouldn’t refuse the help of doctors. On the contrary, you can make a choice about how to give birth - with a cesarean section or on your own. If you decide to give birth on your own, you can choose the type of anesthesia in advance. There is medical anesthesia or obstetric anesthesia, it is injected when strong contractions begin, you feel nothing and fall asleep, in a couple of hours, when you wake up, your uterus will be ready for childbirth - everything will go smoothly and painlessly. Epidural anesthesia is precisely pain relief; you do not fall asleep, but, while remaining alert, you stop feeling pain. Before giving birth, you should consult with doctors and choose the option that suits you
Miracle prayer during the birth of a daughter, if a caesarean section is planned
If, for medical reasons, your doctor prescribes a caesarean section, you should not despair. As with natural childbirth, the main thing is the mother’s peace of mind and confidence that everything will go well. Unlike natural childbirth, where only the expected date is known, in the case of a cesarean section the doctor sets the date of birth, therefore, the woman can prepare in advance for the birth of the baby. On the appointed day, ask the Lord and the Mother of God with a miraculous prayer during childbirth so that everything goes well.
Strong prayer to the icon of the Feodorovskaya Mother of God during difficult childbirth
Many women completely refuse any painkillers and give birth without any anesthesia. Giving birth is painful, but not scary. It’s good if the birth is easy and quick, in this case the pain of labor is instantly forgotten, you just have to see and hold the long-awaited child in your arms. But it happens that the process of childbirth is delayed for 10, 15, 17 hours, naturally, that the woman is terribly exhausted and physically tired. When your own strength is not enough, or unforeseen difficulties arise, you need to ask for help from the Mother of God. It is the church prayer to the Mother of God that gives relief during difficult childbirth.
The real text of the Orthodox prayer for help for an easy birth to the Mother of God
Most Holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, who weighed the birth and nature of mother and child, have mercy on Thy servant (name), and help in this hour, that her burden may be resolved safely. O All-Merciful Lady Theotokos, even though You did not require help in the birth of the Son of God, grant help to this Thy servant, who requires help, especially from You. Grant her blessings at this hour, and give birth to a child like her and bring her into the light of this world; grant her, at the right time, the gift of light in holy baptism with water and spirit. We fall down before you, Mother of the Most High God, praying: Be merciful to this mother, the time has come for her to be a mother, and beg Christ our God, who has become incarnate from you, to strengthen you with His power from above. For His power is blessed and glorified, with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Prayer before childbirth to the Blessed Virgin Mary
Before childbirth, prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary is considered very powerful. You need to seek help and support every day during the last month before the expected date of birth. It is best to do this in the evening before bed. You should definitely install an icon of the Virgin Mary near your bed.
The prayer text reads as follows:
“I, the servant of God (proper name), appeal to you, Lady of Heaven. I ask for your support and help in this period of life. The hour of my delivery is approaching, so help me to survive it safely, so that there is no harm to either me or my child. Hear me, the servant of God, unworthy and sinful (proper name) and do not despise my prayer, Most Holy Theotokos. Deliver me from internal fears and fill my soul with confidence in a successful outcome. Deliver me from suffering during childbirth and protect my child. Ask the Lord to grant me an easy birth and protect me from serious illnesses. Ask your Son to help my child enter this world healthy and strong. I trust only in you, Most Holy Theotokos, and I believe in your goodness. Become my heavenly Mother and grant your protection to me and my child. Amen".
Prayer before the icon “Helper in Childbirth”
Prayers of pregnant women before childbirth in front of icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary is an ancient tradition. You can offer prayer to the Virgin Mary in front of different icons. But a prayer for help before childbirth is considered especially powerful.
The name of this icon already speaks for itself. Prayer before childbirth, offered immediately before childbirth, allows you to gain peace of mind and hope that the birth will be successful. It is especially important to read a prayer before this image during an unsuccessful pregnancy and when doctors have negative prognoses.
If pregnancy is difficult, prayers to the Virgin Mary should be offered in churches in front of a list of a famous icon.
They are:
- In the Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Moscow.
- In the Church of the Holy Princes Gleb and Boris in the city of Borovsk, Kaluga region.
- In the Holy Trinity Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
- In Yekaterinburg, to the cathedral named after the Nativity of Christ.
- In the Church of All Saints in Moscow in Krasnoe Selo.
A prayer appeal before the miraculous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary may sound like this:
“Accept, Heavenly Lady, Most Holy Theotokos, the tearful prayer request of the servant of God (her own name). Pay attention to me humbly kneeling before your holy image and become my support in my difficult period of life. I look with tears of tenderness at your Icon and see you carrying in your womb your Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. You, the Most Holy Theotokos, gave birth to him painlessly and with great spiritual joy, without experiencing any pain. So help me about the time of childbirth. Grant me, Most Holy Theotokos, your support and do not allow me to experience terrible pain during childbirth. Give your intercession to my baby, so that he is born healthy and strong, so that he comes into this world without pain. I bow before your image and ask for your intercession. Oh, Most Holy Theotokos, have mercy on me, as I await the birth of my child with love and joy. Do not let grief and sadness come into my life, do not despise my humble tears. On the day of my boundless joy, at the moment of the birth of my dear little blood, I, the servant of God (my own name), will offer you a prayer of gratitude and thank our Lord, the All-Merciful and All-Merciful. Amen.”
The search for adequate methods of delivery during premature pregnancy is of great relevance. Only 25% of pregnant women at 28-37 weeks of gestation are delivered through the vaginal birth canal. This is, as a rule, premature birth, uncomplicated by serious extragenital or obstetric pathology. In 75% of cases, pregnancy within the specified period ends with an emergency or planned cesarean section [1].
The most serious consequence of childbirth for a premature baby is birth trauma, which occurs 7 times more often in premature births than in timely births.
Material and research methods
We analyzed 260 observations of cesarean section during premature pregnancy, performed in the clinical maternity hospital No. 1 of Kazan. Of these, 12 (4.6%) operations were performed at 22-27 weeks of pregnancy, 86 (33.08%) operations at 28-33 weeks, 162 (62.31%) operations at 34-37 weeks.
In the structure of indications for abdominal delivery, those from the mother’s side predominated (about 60%). The most common of them were bleeding and gestosis. In second place were indications from the fetus (about 40%), the common basis for which was the reduction of birth injuries for an immature and low-birth-weight child. In 71.2% these were emergency operations and only in 28.8% of cases were planned operations. Outcomes of abdominal delivery were better if it was planned. The survival rate of premature infants after cesarean section was also determined by the body weight of the newborns and the timeliness of the operation.
Although cesarean section in a number of clinical situations has advantages over spontaneous birth, it does not solve the problem of preventing birth injuries in premature pregnancy. By reducing mortality, operative delivery has little effect on the morbidity rates of low birth weight infants [3]. Improving the technique of cesarean section for premature pregnancy is of great relevance.
In 1988, H. Hillemans proposed a cesarean section technique, which involved removing the fetus in intact membranes [cit. according to 2]. In Russia, this operation has found use in some obstetric clinics for premature birth. We have proposed an original method of cesarean section with extraction of the fetus in the whole amniotic sac, and also conducted a comparative study of the effectiveness of this technique, taking into account the outcomes of delivery for a child with low body weight.
The surgical technique consists of preserving the integrity of the fetal bladder when making an incision on the uterus and creating a kind of “hydraulic protection” when removing the child. After laparotomy (according to Joel-Cohen or Pfannenstiel), the incision on the uterus is made with a scalpel to the membranes without damaging them, then continues with scissors in an arcuate manner in the transverse direction under the control of two fingers inserted between the wall of the uterus and the membranes to a length sufficient to extract the fetus. In very early premature birth (22-27 weeks) and an unformed lower segment, a longitudinal isthmic-corporal incision of the uterus is justified. The subsequent stages of the operation consist of carefully peeling off the amniotic sac from the walls of the uterus by hand, removing the fetal head from the uterine cavity using gentle and smooth pressure through the anterior abdominal wall onto the fundus of the uterus, removing the fetus in the entire amniotic sac to the shoulder girdle or in its entirety, opening the membranes and cutting umbilical cord (Fig. 1, 2).
Figure 1. Detachment of the amniotic sac from the walls of the uterus.
Figure 2. Delivery of the fetus in the entire amniotic sac.
A total of 80 newborns born at 28-37 weeks of gestation were examined, of which 40 children were removed in the amniotic sac (main group), 40 were born by caesarean section performed traditionally (comparison group). The study was conducted using the copy-pair method. The selection of copies was carried out according to the main diagnosis, gestational age, and body weight of the newborn. The prevention of respiratory distress syndrome and endotracheal administration of surfactant were taken into account. The following criteria for inclusion in the study were used: gestational age 28-36 weeks, fetal weight from 1000 to 2500 g, intact amniotic sac, cephalic presentation. Exclusion criteria: first or second stage of labor, severe fetal hypoxia, polyhydramnios, complete placenta previa, total placental abruption.
Research results and discussion
In the main group, 8 (20%) newborns were born at 28-30 weeks, 22 (55%) at 31-33 weeks, 10 (25%) at 34-37 weeks, in the comparison group, respectively, 9 (22.5 %), 21 (52.5%) and 10 (25%) children.
In the whole amniotic sac, 19 newborns were extracted with a birth weight of 1000-1499 g, and 21 infants with a birth weight of 1500-2500 g. There were no newborns weighing 500-999 g in any group.
Indications for cesarean section in the groups did not differ significantly: preeclampsia (in 22 women in the main group and in 22 in the comparison group), partial premature abruption of a normally located placenta (in 10 and 10 women), failure of the uterine scar (in 4 and 4 ), premature rupture of amniotic fluid (in 4 and 4), high myopia during premature birth and stage II intrauterine growth retardation (in 1 and 1 woman, respectively).
The condition of the newborn at birth was assessed using the Silverman and Apgar scales, and the neurological status was determined. Special research methods included neurosonography using an Aloka SSD 1400 sonograph, Dopplerography with assessment of cerebral blood flow parameters, and fundus examination. The morbidity of children in the first year of life has been studied.
According to a neurological examination, all premature infants had manifestations of perinatal damage to the central nervous system, but the degree of their severity in the main group and the comparison group was different. The newborns of the main group did not have such severe clinical disorders as bilateral pyramidal insufficiency or rubral tremor.
According to special research methods, intraperiventricular hemorrhages (IPVC) were diagnosed in 10 (25%) newborns of the main group and 32 (80%) of the comparison group (p <0.05). III degree IPVC were not detected in the main group, in the comparison group they were diagnosed in one (2.5%) newborn, II degree IPVC were found in 8 (20%) and 24 (60%) children, respectively, grade I IPVC - in one (2.5%) and 3 (7.5%) newborns, respectively (p<0.05) (Fig. 3).
Figure 3. Intraperiventricular hemorrhages in premature newborns of the examined groups.
Signs of cerebral ischemia were detected in 26 (65%) newborns of the main group and in 30 (75%) in the comparison group (p <0.05). Cerebral ischemia of grade I was diagnosed in 10 and 6 children, grade II - in 16 and 20 newborns, respectively. In children of the main group, grade III ischemia was not observed; in the comparison group, it was diagnosed in 10 newborns.
There were no traumatic intracranial lesions of the nervous system in children born by cesarean section.
The duration of respiratory support in the main group averaged 5.56±3.44 days, in the comparison group - 8.59±3.92 days (p<0.05). The duration of stay of newborns both at the first and second stages of nursing was also significantly less in children of the main group and amounted to 8.30±4.48 days at the first stage of nursing, and 21.30±12.3 days at the second stage. In the comparison group, the duration of the first stage was 12.8±5.07 days, the second stage - 30±12.7 days (p<0.05).
The data presented indicate a difference in the neurological status of newborns of both groups, which was manifested in a decrease in the number and severity of IPVC, a decrease in the severity of cerebral ischemia and perinatal lesions of the central nervous system.
The results of the analysis of infant morbidity are indicative. Children in the comparison group had a significantly higher incidence rate compared to that in the main group (Fig. 4).
Figure 4. Infant morbidity in premature children of the studied groups. Despite certain positive dynamics, these differences persisted by the end of the first year of life.
Thus, a cesarean section with extraction of the fetus in the entire amniotic sac provides more favorable immediate and long-term results for the health and development of children. With low and very low body weight of the fetus, as a rule, there is no difficulty in removing it from the amniotic sac, and the obstetrician’s hand does not come into direct contact with the fetal head. Her birth occurs under conditions of “hydraulic protection” by amniotic fluid. When the weight of the fetus is very low, it “rolls out” or floats out along with the amniotic fluid. The moment of traction, which is fraught with excessive load on the spine of a premature baby, is excluded. The advantages of this cesarean section technique also include the minimized risk of damage to the fetus with a scalpel. According to summary data, this complication during cesarean section occurs in 2% of cases [4].
Experience shows that the time to extract the fetus with this operation is slightly longer than with the traditional method. This is due to the peculiarities of dissection of the uterine wall to the membranes, peeling of the amniotic sac from the walls of the uterus. However, under conditions of regional anesthesia, this did not significantly affect the condition of the mother and child.
Obviously, a cesarean section does not eliminate the influence of factors that are associated with the immaturity of a premature baby, and does not solve the fundamental problem of safe delivery in a premature pregnancy. Pulmonary atelectasis, pulmonary distress, respiratory disorders and hypoxia, and other conditions characteristic of prematurity largely determine the child’s condition and the need for therapeutic measures. The main thing remains with the entire complex of preventive, therapeutic, surgical, resuscitation and rehabilitation measures, including the correct management of premature birth. At the same time, the proposed surgical technique reduces the damaging effects of intranatal and intraoperative factors. This is a child-friendly and graceful operation in the hands of an obstetrician who has mastered its technique. To recommend it for implementation means to stimulate the doctor to improve his professional skills, which is a prerequisite for the management of premature birth.
conclusions
The proposed method of cesarean section for premature pregnancy with fetal extraction in the whole amniotic sac reduces the damaging effects of intranatal and intraoperative factors on the fetus.
How to pray for the help of the Mother of God?
When reading the akathist, you should take the blessing of a priest. It is better for a young mother to pray during pregnancy, reading the akathist for 40 days in a row.
Before the “Assistant in Childbirth” they prayerfully ask for:
- a calm and successful pregnancy;
- health of the woman in labor and the child being born;
- facilitating the course of labor;
- correct position of the baby in the womb.
Some expectant mothers, not being able to read the entire akathist, add a prayer to the Queen of Heaven to their usual rule.
Read during childbirth
During childbirth, it will be almost impossible to read the akathist. After all, as the Holy Scripture says,
“When a woman gives birth, she suffers sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to a baby, she no longer remembers the sorrow for joy, for a man was born into the world” (Gospel of John, chapter 16, verse 21).
And it is very good if the father, instead of walking from corner to corner, exhausted from anxiety, stands in front of the icons and prayerfully helps his wife in the birth of their child.
Infertile spouses often pray in front of the “Helper in Childbirth” icon.
Prayer before childbirth caesarean section Matrona
When doctors plan to perform a caesarean section to give birth to a child. Very often, in such cases, people turn to the Blessed Elder Matrona of Moscow for support. To do this, it is better to visit holy places: the temple where the relics of the Saint are located or the grave in the cemetery where Matrona of Moscow was buried.
The prayer text will read as follows:
“Oh, blessed Elder Matrona of Moscow, your soul is in heaven next to the Throne of the Lord, but your body rests on earth and exudes various miracles. Hear my prayer, Servant of God (proper name) and grant me consolation in sorrows and sorrow. Ask our Lord Almighty to show mercy to me and forgive all my voluntary and involuntary sins committed due to my lack of understanding. Ask him to grant me the birth of a healthy and strong child, so that he does not have to pay for my sins, for which I sincerely repent. I thank you, Blessed Elder Matrona of Moscow, and I trust only in you. I believe in your boundless mercy. May your mercy never fail for those who suffer and need your help. In Serpukhov, the Mother of God image “Helper in Childbirth” appeared into the world.
There is no original of this icon. The most revered list was brought to St. Nicholas Cathedral by an elderly woman. It was covered with a thick layer of dust, as it was stored in the attic. After restoration, the face of the Virgin Mary “Helper in Childbirth” was revealed.
The image depicts the Most Pure Virgin at the moment of the Mystery of the Incarnation. It is as if the inner Virgin Mary is revealed to us, in whose womb our Lord Jesus Christ was pleased to be incarnate.
