The meaning of the Lord's prayer "Our Father"
When reading the Lord's Prayer, people turn to the Almighty with requests and gratitude. It is the first step to faith and helps people clear their thoughts and avoid mistakes.
In the most important book for every Christian - the Bible - it is mentioned that the author of the prayer addressed to the Lord is His son Jesus Christ.
It was He who left His disciples-apostles and all people as a legacy of special words that help to concentrate on faith and begin communication with the Creator.
It is believed that in homes where there is faith, prayer sounds and there is reverence for the Almighty as the only Creator, peace and tranquility reign, prosperity increases, the health of those living in it strengthens and well-being grows.
As soon as believers stop praying, demons immediately take up space in the soul, and then begin to send negative thoughts, provoke them into bad deeds and negative actions. “Our Father” is a very strong and effective prayer, it is this one that is given to a person to help him from evil and all the negativity in life.
“Our Father” is a very powerful and effective prayer.

How to read a prayer correctly at home
At home, the prayer to the Lord should be read mentally or out loud, the main thing is that all your words addressed to God come from a pure heart:
- Of course, when turning to God, you need to abandon all evil thoughts, forgive all people who have caused harm, or repent. Without mercy for others, asking for mercy for yourself is a sin.
- It is important to be alone with God. When saying a prayer, a person must be detached from all everyday problems, truly want to communicate with the Almighty and be open to help.
- For complete peace of mind, it is advisable to retire, close the door to the room and ask not to be disturbed for a while. In an acute situation, when you cry out to the Lord for help, you can say a prayer silently.
- In any case, the address must be spoken thoughtfully, and all words must be pronounced clearly. You cannot pray on the run, in a hurry, without pronouncing phrases. At the end of their appeal to the Father, Orthodox believers make the sign of the cross.
An important condition necessary for the correct pronunciation of prayer is forgiveness. Only that person who does not hold evil within himself can be heard by the Lord. Also, before reading the prayer, you need to mentally ask for forgiveness from those whom you intentionally or accidentally offended.
You need to read the “Our Father” prayer in the morning and evening, as well as in any situation that requires correct interpretation, guidance on the true path and bright thoughts.
Every true Christian believer must know the words of the main appeal to God, understand the interpretation of the lines and be able to pronounce the words correctly.
"Deliver us from evil"
Here is a person’s request to protect him from the evil of this world. After all, more than once a day we see and hear around us corrupting images of the sin dominating the world. These are drug addicts and alcoholics hanging around our houses, pornography shamelessly and defiantly looking at us from the windows of kiosks, horror films from the TV screen, selective swearing in the entrance. All this invisibly stretches its tentacles towards us, penetrating the soul and causing sinful impulses. As long as we are in the body, this is inevitable.
18 “And the Lord will deliver me from every evil deed and preserve me for His Heavenly Kingdom; to Him be glory forever and ever. Amen." (2 Timothy 4:18)
Interpretation of the Lord's Prayer
The words of prayer have a special meaning for every believer, because they contain the basic Christian truth. Any line of prayer addressed to God can be interpreted with deep meaning:
- "Our Father who art in heaven." This is an appeal to God the Father, the Creator of all life in the world, the creator of our world. The phrase contains the idea that the Lord exists in heaven and from there helps all those who suffer and turn to Him for divine blessing.
- “Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come.” In these lines, people show their worship of the Lord and believe that the Kingdom of God will come throughout the world - grace, tranquility and peace.
- “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” By reciting these lines, worshipers speak of their faith in the power of the Almighty, and thereby recognize His influence on all processes in their lives.
- “Give us this day our daily bread.” This is a petition to God, aimed at meeting existing needs for food, needs (but not only physical, but also mental or spiritual).
- “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Believing Christians ask God for forgiveness for all their sins and the ungodly actions of other people.
- “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Those praying ask God for help in the fight against the devil, who every day tries to have a destructive influence on humanity and offers people a lot of temptations.
- “For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen". This line contains the final thought, the result of the entire appeal to the Almighty, and also expresses worship of the power of the Lord our God.
The special structure of the prayer, the sevenfold appeal to the Lord and the special order of words were not invented by chance. “Our Father” is an opportunity to turn to the Almighty, ask for his protection, guidance, help in difficult situations and a way to share joy.
Why is the Lord's Prayer so important in the life of a modern person?
The importance of these words is often understood in the face of danger.
A person is designed in such a way that he gets used to everything, abstracts himself from any terrible events happening around him. But as soon as the breath of death touches the back of his head, a person remembers God.
Treasures must be collected in heaven, where neither a thief can steal nor rust can corrode. But modern humanity prioritizes an apartment and a car. Christ spoke about courage in the face of danger, about sacrifice and love for loved ones. And people of the 21st century film a drowning child with a smartphone camera.
We can say with confidence that humanity has taken a wrong turn and only sincere, pure prayer to our Lord can return us to the path of truth. Amen.
Reading rules
The Lord's Prayer is truly powerful. With her help, thousands of people found peace and grace in their souls, got rid of depression, obsessive thoughts and even illnesses.
It is advisable to learn the prayer by heart so as not to get confused when pronouncing it. Our Father can be read both in church and at home. When saying the words of prayer, do not allow thoughts to distract you from the process. Open your soul to God, pronounce your words thoughtfully and with maximum sincerity. Let every word pass through you. The more fiery and heartfelt your appeal to the Lord is, the more likely it is that he will hear it.
While praying, try to be alone with the Lord. It's not about where you say it - in church, at home or in a noisy crowd. Just in these moments, renounce worldly affairs and imagine that, besides you and God, there is not a soul around.
