Song 1, tone 1
Irmos: Resurrection day, let’s enlighten ourselves, people. Easter, the Lord's Easter: from death to life and from earth to heaven, Christ God has led us, singing in victory.
Resurrection day. Let's enlighten ourselves people. Easter of the Lord Passover. For from death to life and from earth to heaven, Christ God has brought us, singing (the song) of victory.
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Christ rose from the dead, trampling down death with death and giving life to the dead
Let us purify our senses, and we will see the unapproachable light of the Resurrection, Christ shining, and Rejoice, the river, let us clearly hear, singing victoriously.
Let us purify our senses and see Christ shining with the impregnable light of the resurrection and “rejoice” we will clearly hear from Him, singing the song of victory (Matt. 28:9; 1 Tim. 6:16).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth rejoice, let the world celebrate, all visible and invisible, Christ has risen, eternal joy.
Let heaven worthily rejoice, let earth rejoice, and let the whole world, visible and invisible, celebrate, for Christ has risen - eternal rejoicing. (Ps. 95:11; 1 Cor. 15:20).
Theotokos: (Sung from the second day of Easter until the giving away)
Glory: You broke the limits of mortification, you who gave birth to eternal life, Christ, who has risen from the tomb this day, the All-Immaculate Virgin, and who has enlightened the world.
You broke the limit of mortification, bearing in your womb eternal life, Christ, who has risen from the tomb on this day, the all-immaculate Virgin, and the one who has enlightened the world.
And now: Having seen your resurrected Son and God, rejoice from the Apostles, God-gracious Pure One: and rejoice first of all, for you have received all the joys of wine, the Mother of God of All. private
Having seen Your Son and God risen, rejoice with the Apostles, O God-gracious, Pure One! And you, the All-Immaculate Mother of God, were the first to accept the word “Rejoice” as a cause of joy for everyone.
Song 3
Irmos: Come, let us drink new beer; it is not from the barren name that the miracle works, but the source of incorruptibility, from the tomb which brought forth Christ, we are established in Him.
Come, let us drink a new drink, miraculously produced not from a barren stone, but from the incorruptible tomb of Christ (όμβρήσαντος Χριστοϋ), on which we are established.
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Now all is filled with light, heaven and earth and the underworld: let all creation celebrate the rise of Christ, which is established in Him.
Now everything is filled with light - heaven and earth and (places of) the underworld, so that all creation celebrates the rebellion of Christ, on which it is established (Eph. 4:10).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Yesterday I was buried by You, Christ, today I am resurrected by You, I was crucified by You yesterday, glorify me Yourself, O Savior, in Your Kingdom.
Yesterday I was buried with You, Christ, today I rise with You; glorify me with You, You Yourself, Savior, in Your Kingdom (Rom. 6:3, 8:17).
Glory: I come to imperishable life today with the goodness born from You, Pure One, and the light that has been shed upon all ends.
I pass on to an immaculate life on this day, through the goodness of the One who was born of You, Pure One, and who illuminated all the ends of the world with light.
And now: God, whom you gave birth to flesh, from the dead, as you said, having risen and seen, Pure One, rejoice, and He, O Most Pure One, exalt Him as God.
Having seen God, whom You carried in the flesh in your womb, the Pure One, risen from the dead, as He said, rejoice, and as God, the Immaculate One, magnify Him.
Ipakoi, voice 4th
When the morning came about Mary, and the found stone was rolled away from the tomb, I heard from the Angel: in the light of the ever-present Being, with the dead, why do you seek as a man? You see the grave clothes, preach to you and the world that the Lord has risen, the one who put death to death, as he is the Son of God, saving the human race.
The women, who came with Mary before dawn and found the stone rolled away from the tomb, heard from the Angel: “In the eternal light of the One, what are you looking for among the dead as a person? Look at the burial shrouds, run and proclaim to the world that the Lord has risen, putting to death death, for He is the Son of God, who saves the human race!”
Song 4
Irmos: On Divine guard, may the God-speaking Habakkuk stand with us, and show us a luminous Angel, clearly saying: today is salvation for the world, for Christ is risen, for he is omnipotent.
God-speaking Habakkuk, may he stand with us on divine guard and show the luminous Angel clearly exclaiming: now is the salvation of the World; for Christ has risen as omnipotent (Hab. 2:1; Is. 9:6).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
The male sex, as it opened the virgin womb, Christ appeared, as a man, the Lamb was called, blameless, for it is tasteless of filth, our Passover, and as God is true, perfect speech Yes.
Our Easter - Christ appeared male, like the Son who opened the virgin womb; called a lamb, as offered as food, immaculate, not involved in uncleanness (sin), and as the true God, he is called perfect (Ex. 12:5, 11; John 6:54).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Like the one-year-old lamb, the blessed crown of Christ, He willed for all to be slain, the cleansing Passover, and the red package from the tomb, the Sun of righteousness has risen for us.
The crown we are blessed - Christ, like a one-year-old lamb, voluntarily slain for everyone on the cleansing Passover, and again He, the beautiful Sun of Truth, shone for us from the grave (Ps. 64:12, 5:7).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Our God-father David is galloping before the ark, playing, but the saints of God, having visualized the event, we rejoice divinely, for Christ is risen, for he is omnipotent.
Godfather David jumped in delight in front of the prophetic ark; We, the holy people of God, seeing the fulfillment of the prototypes, may we rejoice sacredly; for Christ has risen as omnipotent (2 Samuel 6; Eph. 1:18).
Glory: Having created Adam, Your forefather, Pure, is built from You, and destroy the mortal dwelling with Your death today, and illuminate everything with the Divine splendor of the Resurrection.
He who created Adam, Your forefather, the Pure One, is created from You, and on this day He, by His death, abolished through him the death that had come, and illuminated everyone with the divine splendors of the Resurrection.
And now: Whom you gave birth to Christ, who rose beautifully from the dead, Pure, seeing, kind and blameless in women and red, today for the salvation of all, the Apostles glorify Him rejoicing.
Seeing Christ, Whom You carried in your womb, Pure, who rose beautifully from the dead on this day for the salvation of all, glorious and blameless among women, and beautiful, rejoicing with the Apostles, glorify Him.
Song 5
Irmos: Let us deepen the morning, and instead of peace we will bring a song to the Lady, and we will see Christ, the Sun of truth, life shining for all.
Let us rise early in the morning (“let us morning, deep morning”) and instead of peace we will bring a song to the Master and we will see Christ the Sun of Truth, who enlightens everyone with life (Luke 24:1; Mal.4:2).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Your immeasurable compassion, through the bonds of hell, is seen, Christ walks towards the light, with merry feet, praising the eternal Easter.
Having beheld Thy immeasurable mercy, O Christ, those held in the bonds of hell flowed with joyful feet towards the light, glorifying the eternal Easter (Is. 49:9; 1 Pet. 3:19).
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Let us begin, O luminous visions, that Christ come forth from the tomb as a bridegroom, and celebrate the saving Passover of God with the lustful celebrations.
With lamps in our hands, let us go to meet Christ coming from the tomb as a bridegroom, and let us joyfully celebrate God’s saving Passover with joyful celebrants (Matthew 25:1).
Glory: Illuminated by the Divine rays and life-giving rays of the Resurrection of Your Son, Most Pure Mother of God, and the pious assembly is filled with joy.
The Most Pure Mother of God is illuminated by the Divine and life-giving rays of the Resurrection of Your Son, and the pious assembly is filled with joy.
And now: Thou didst not open the gates of virginity in the Incarnation, Thou didst not destroy the seals of the tomb, O King of creation: from now on the Resurrected Mother saw Thee rejoicing.
You did not open the gates of virginity at your incarnation, you did not break the seals of the tomb, O King of creation, and therefore, seeing You risen, the Mother rejoiced.
Song 6
Irmos: Thou hast descended into the nether regions of the earth and shattered the eternal faiths that contain those bound, O Christ, and thou hast lived three days like Jonah from the whale, and thou hast risen from the grave.
You descended into the deepest places of the earth and broke the eternal bars that held those imprisoned in chains, O Christ, and on the third day, like Jonah from a whale, you rose from the grave.
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Having preserved the sign intact, O Christ, Thou hast risen from the grave, the keys of the Virgin unharmed at Thy Nativity, and Thou hast opened for us the doors of heaven.
Having kept the seals intact, Christ, You rose from the grave, without damaging the enclosed womb of the Virgin at Your birth, and opened the doors of heaven to us.
Chorus: Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs.
My Savior, the living and non-sacrificial slaughter, as God Himself brought to the Father by His own will, You co-resurrected the universal Adam, rose from the grave.
My Savior, a living and unslaughtered victim! Having voluntarily offered Yourself to the Father, You, as God, resurrected with Yourself the common ancestor Adam, rising from the grave.
Glory: Who of old was exalted by death and corruption, incarnate from Your most pure womb, to imperishable and everlasting life, O Virgin Mother of God.
From ancient times, held by death and corruption, raised to incorruptible and eternal life by the Incarnate from Your most pure womb, Virgin Mary.
And now: You descended into the underworld of the earth, into your womb, the Pure One, who descended and took over, and became incarnate above the mind, and raised Adam with Him, and rose from the grave.
He descended into the deepest places of the earth into Thy bowels, O Pure One, who descended and inhabited and incarnated above the mind; and He raised Adam up with Him, rising from the grave.
Kontakion, tone 8
Even though you descended into the grave, Immortal, you destroyed the power of hell, and you rose again as a conqueror, Christ God, to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and to your apostles Grant peace, grant Resurrection to the fallen.
Although You, the Immortal One, descended into the grave, you destroyed the power of hell and rose again as a conqueror, Christ God, saying to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and giving peace to Your apostles, and giving resurrection to the fallen.
Ikos
Even before the sun, the Sun sometimes set into the tomb, preparing for the morning, looking for the day of the myrrh-bearing virgin, and a friend crying to friends: O others, come, let us anoint the life-giving body with stinks and combed, the flesh of the resurrected fallen Adam, lying in the tomb. Come, let us run like oxen, and let us worship, and bring peace like gifts, not in swaddling clothes, but in a shroud entwined, and we weep and cry out: O Master, arise, grant resurrection to the fallen.
The myrrh-bearing virgins, anticipating the sun in the morning and seeking as the day the One who was the sun who had once set into the tomb, cried out to one another: friends, come, let us anoint with incense the life-giving and buried body lying in the tomb, the Body of the One who raised Adam. Let us go, let us hasten like the Magi, and bow down and offer myrrh as gifts. To him who lies not in swaddling clothes, but wrapped in a shroud, and weeping, we cry out: O Master, who gives resurrection to the fallen, arise.

Truly sacred and worthy of every celebration is this saving and luminous night, the herald of the luminous day, the resurrection (ἐγέρσεως), on which the flightless Light in the flesh shone for all from the grave (John 20:1).

Easter holiday in Orthodoxy
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the main holiday of the entire Christian world, which was established in honor of the resurrection of the Savior from the dead. Even people who are far from religion associate it with solemn services, the preparation of Easter cakes and the ringing of bells that rings throughout all cities and towns this morning.
Easter is a moving holiday and is celebrated on different dates every year. On this day, they solemnly remember the resurrection of the Savior, which occurred on the third day after his suffering on the Calvary cross and death. The body of the Lord was taken down from the cross on Friday and taken to the cave, and Saturday is considered a day of rest among the Jews, so it was only on Sunday early in the morning that the women, taking incense, went to the cave to prepare the body of Christ for burial.
However, when they arrived at the place, they saw that the stone blocking the entrance to the cave had been rolled away, and an angel was sitting on it. He told the women not to look for the living among the dead, and they realized that what had happened was as the prophets had predicted - Christ had risen.
The angel told the girls to go to the rest of the Messiah's disciples and tell them what had happened. On the way, they met Jesus, fell at his feet and praised the Lord for the miracle that had been performed. From this holiday came the name of the 7th day of the week - Sunday; it became the day of worship of the Lord, when all believers gather in churches, pray together and glorify God. It is Sunday in Orthodoxy that is usually called “little Easter,” although the resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated especially solemnly once a year.
The festive service is preceded by mournful and strict services, which begin on Thursday evening and end on Saturday morning. The Easter service begins at night and is called the mournful midnight office, and at this time there is a lectern with the Shroud in the middle of the temple.

Christ is risen from the dead. My Savior, the living and non-sacrificial slaughter, as God Himself brought to the Father by His own will, You resurrected the all-begotten Adam, rose from the grave. Mother of God: Most Holy Theotokos, save us. Elevated from ancient times by death and corruption, Incarnate from Your most pure womb, to the incorruptible and everlasting life, Virgin Mary. Most Holy Theotokos, save us. Descended into the underworld of the earth, into Your lie, the Pure One, descended, and was infused and incarnated more than the mind, and raised Adam with Him, rose from the grave.
Song 7
Irmos: He who delivered the youths from the furnace, having become a man, suffers as if mortal, and with the passion of death he clothes the mortal in incorruptibility with splendor, God alone is blessed and glorified. Wives from the world of God-wise follow in your footsteps: Whom, as if dead, I seek with tears, bowing down, rejoicing in the Living God, and Your secret Pascha, O Christ, the disciple of the gospel. Christ is risen from the dead. In death we celebrate the mortification, the destruction of hell, the beginning of another eternal life, and playfully we sing of the Guilty One, the only one blessed by the fathers of God and the most glorified. Christ is risen from the dead. As truly sacred and all-celebratory, this saving night, and the luminous, light-bearing day, is the herald of the rising of beings: in it, the flightless Light from the grave rose carnally to all. Mother of God: Most Holy Theotokos, save us. Having put to death Your Son, the All-Immaculate Death, today, the life of all mortals remains free for all eternity, One blessed and glorified God of the Fathers. Most Holy Theotokos, save us. Reign over all creation, having been a man, you entered into Your, God-gracious, womb, and having endured crucifixion and death, you rose again divinely, making us like omnipotent.
Song 4
Irmos: On divine watch, may the God-speaking Habakkuk stand with us and show us a luminous angel, clearly saying: this day is salvation for the world, for Christ is risen, for he is omnipotent. Christ is risen from the dead. The male sex, as if Christ had opened the virgin womb, was called: like a man, He was called Lamb: and blameless, for the taste of filth is our Passover, and for the true God is perfect in His words. Mother of God: Most Holy Theotokos, save us. Having created Adam, Your forefather, the Pure One is built from You, and destroy the mortal dwelling with Your death today, and illuminate everything with the divine sparkles of the resurrection. You have broken the limit of mortification, having given birth to eternal life Christ, who has risen from the tomb today, the All-Immaculate Virgin, and who has enlightened the world. Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us. Having seen your resurrected Son and God, rejoice with the apostles, God-gracious pure one: and rejoice first, for you have received all the joys of wine, the All-immaculate Mother of God.
Reading rules
The Easter canon is usually read only in an Orthodox church, however, if a person for some good reason was unable to visit the church, he can recite the words of the chant at home; the clergy do not prohibit this.
In churches, the canon begins to be read after the great litany, while the troparia are not pronounced, but chanted. At this time, the priest who conducts the service holds a cross and censer in his hands and, after each song, censes on the icons and parishioners gathered in the church, while greeting them with the words - Christ is Risen!
Such repeated appearances of the clergyman and greetings are a symbol of the repeated appearances of the Lord Jesus Christ to his disciples after the resurrection. At the end of the Easter canon, the morning luminary is sung. After this, during the reading of the troparion, everyone gathered in the temple “possesses Christ,” and the priest pronounces the words of John Chrysostom.
Song 3
Irmos: Come, we drink new beer, it is not from the barren stone that miracles work, but from the incorruptible source that from the tomb rained Christ, we are established in Nemzhe. Christ is risen from the dead. Now everything is filled with light, Heaven and earth and the underworld: let all creation celebrate the rise of Christ, established in Him. Christ is risen from the dead. Yesterday I was buried with You, Christ, today I stand with You in resurrection, I was crucified with You yesterday, glorify me Yourself, O Savior, in Your Kingdom. Mother of God: Most Holy Theotokos, save us. I come today to imperishable life, born of the goodness of You, Pure One, and illuminated with all the light. Most Holy Theotokos, save us. God, Whom you gave birth to in the flesh, from the dead, as you said, having risen and seen, Pure One, rejoice, and exalt Him as God, Most Pure One. Ipakoi, voice 4th: Having anticipated the morning of Mary, and having found the stone rolled away from the tomb, I hear from the Angel: in the light of the ever-present Being, what do you seek with the dead, like a man? You see the graveclothes, tetsite, and preach to the world that the Lord has arisen, the one who put to death death, as he is the Son of God, saving the human race.
Kontakion, tone 8
Even though you descended into the grave, Immortal, you destroyed the power of hell, and you rose again as a conqueror, Christ God, saying to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice, and grant peace to your apostles, grant resurrection to the fallen. Ikos Even before the sun, the sun sometimes set in the tomb, leading to the morning, looking for the myrrh-bearing virgin like the day, and crying out to friend to friend: O friend! Come, let us anoint the life-giving and buried body with stinks, the flesh of the Resurrected fallen Adam, lying in the tomb. We come, sweating like wolves, and let us worship, and bring peace like gifts, not in swaddling clothes, but in a shroud, to Him entwined, and we weep and cry out: O Master, arise, grant resurrection to the fallen. Having seen the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless One, we worship Your Cross, O Christ, and we sing and glorify Your holy resurrection: for You are our God, do we know no other to You, we call Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us worship the holy resurrection of Christ: behold, for through the Cross joy has come to the whole world. Always blessing the Lord, we sing of His resurrection: having endured crucifixion, destroy death by death. (Three times) Jesus rose from the grave, as He prophesied, to give us eternal life and great mercy. (Thrice)
Song 5
Irmos: Let us morning the deep morning, and instead of peace we will bring a song to the Lady, and we will see Christ, the Sun of Truth, life shining for all. Christ is risen from the dead. Thy immeasurable compassion is visible through the bonds of hell, Christ walks toward the light with merry feet, praising the eternal Easter. Christ is risen from the dead. Let us come, O luminaries, to Christ proceeding from the tomb as a bridegroom, and let us celebrate God’s saving Pascha with lustful rites. Mother of God: Most Holy Theotokos, save us. The divine rays and life-giving rays of the resurrection of Your Son, Most Pure Mother of God, are enlightened, and the pious assembly is filled with joy. Most Holy Theotokos, save us. You did not open the gates of virginity in the incarnation, you did not destroy the seals of the coffin, the King of creation: from where you saw the resurrected, Mother rejoiced.
