The Temple of Andrei Rublev in Ramenki is unique in many respects. It was opened in honor of the artist. Andrei Rublev received worldwide recognition as a true master of icon painting. His name is inscribed in the history of world culture. During Soviet times, this creative person managed to bring many educated people to the Church. The temple is also unique in that most of its employees are graduates of Moscow State University.
The non-standard approach of physicists to the issue of building a temple makes it possible to raise non-standard questions in the classes of Sunday School and the Youth Movement.
Story
Andrey Rublev himself
received the honor of being canonized as a reverend only in 1988. For the first time in the history of the Church, a temple was to be erected in honor of an artist. The idea of building a temple in Moscow arose in 1994. A wide variety of architectural projects were proposed, but due to their standard nature they were rejected. Only after Mikhail Filippov proposed his own vision of the future temple did preparatory work begin.
By 1996, only a small chapel stood in Moscow. A temple-chapel was erected in its place. His project was proposed by D.S. Sokolov and A.N. Obolensky. But already in 2000 it had to be moved to a new location in order to free up the site for the construction of the Andrei Rublev Temple. The lighting in the new location took place on Christmas Day 2001.
Construction began in 2008
. Already in the winter of 2010, the monastery was consecrated. However, the improvement of the temple lasted for several more years. According to the approved project, only the lower, baptismal church was erected. It is similar to the Cathedral of the Spaso-Andronikov Monastery, where the Monk Andrei Rublev was buried. The large semi-circular building is surrounded by covered staircases and arcades to give the temple the appearance of an ancient city. At the same time, the overall appearance is a fragile unity of grace and severity, classics and the Middle Ages.
For the construction of the upper temple, a new project was developed and adopted. Construction in Moscow is still underway . Currently the church operates:
- charity group;
- temperance society;
- Sunday school for children and adults;
- youth organization.
The temple is open to parishioners.
Social activities
The church operates a Sunday school for children and adults, a parish charity group, a Temperance Society, a parish youth organization, and meetings of young families of the parish.
The temple supports the following social institutions:

The temple cooperates with the Russian Birch Foundation and regularly helps three large priestly families, as well as several single and large mothers.
A temperance society was organized at the temple. The spiritual director of the temperance society is Priest Alexander Nikolsky. Prayers are held in front of the icon of the Mother of God “The Undrinkable Chalice”, with the obligatory presence of members of the temperance society. Psychological conversations are conducted with relatives of people suffering from addiction.

Construction
The construction of the church is carried out solely on donations from parishioners. At the moment, there are not enough funds to complete all construction and finishing work. But the ministers are intensely praying for the successful completion of the work begun. They are confident that everything is the will of the Lord. At the right time, funds will be collected. Concerned parishioners transfer money to a bank account or purchase special personalized bricks. They can be ordered directly from the church. They will indicate the name of the person himself, and, if desired, the name of his relatives or friends.
While scaffolding has been erected around the temple, most services and events are held in the wooden Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located next door. The rector himself, Archpriest Andrei Galukhin, does not hide the fact that he tries not to hire many workers. He believes that three monolithic workers and four masons are enough to get the job done quickly. At the same time, he does not have to exceed the budget for paying craftsmen.
Sunday School
The Ladybug Sunday School has been successfully operating for 10 years.
. It provides classes for children and teenagers, as well as a parents' club, free of charge.
The school conducts classes to expand creative horizons through music, drawing, puppet theater, and choreography. There is a military-patriotic club for teenagers. Missionaries from Ramenki
The youth group “Andreevtsy” rallied around Father Alexander: having once come to faith through conversations with parishioners, he began to conduct them himself. And now history is repeating itself with new generations of Moscow State University students. The same Kostya, a graduate of the physics department, came to church in his first year, also hooked on the words “father” and “conversations.” Or 27-year-old Anya: “A friend in the dorm told me about Father Alexander, so I came to the temple,” and for eight years she hasn’t left.
- So what are we talking about?
“Mainly about the relationships between boys and girls,” Dima, a first-year student at the Faculty of Soil Science, enters the conversation. He came to the temple as a schoolboy because, as he laconically explains, “there was a need.”
“But the conversations are not only about marriage. For example, there was such a topic as Orthodoxy and sports,” continues Kostya. - Although, of course, the ones about family are the most popular. All of our priests have many children: Father Alexander, for example, has ten children!
“Andreevtsy”, like any youth group in any parish, go on pilgrimage trips together, watch and discuss movies. Some people simultaneously participate in volunteer activities of the parish group “Mercy”.
Father Andrey, Kostya and Dima |
- But just communication is not enough. As Father Alexander says, young people need heroic deeds,” says Kostya. — Now we are trying to organize youth conversations at Moscow State University. Protestants gather at the university and study the Bible, but what about us?
“Andreevtsy” together with Father Alexander have already held three such meetings at Moscow State University. Eighteen people came to the conversation about marriage and family—a modest number for a university of fifty thousand people. But the main thing is not quantity, but quality, the guys think: “All these are new people who have not gone to church before, which means we are on the right path.”
—Are there many believers among your classmates?
“Initially, no one went to the temple,” Dima answers. — And then people began to communicate with me, questions arise. So I brought one girl to the temple, and her friend came with her.
Just like with bricks: while they lie in a pile on the ground, they are just building materials. But four masons get down to business - the masonry grows, and the temple is erected.

Life path of Andrei Rublev
The Church of Andrei Rublev in Ramenki was built to glorify Saint Andrew, an icon painter and a man who gave his life to serving the Lord. Scarce information about the life of the saint has survived to this day.
There is no information about which family the monk came from. Presumably, his parents were high-ranking, educated people, since during his life only representatives of the upper strata of the population had a family nickname, that is, a surname.
The monk was born around 1360, and from childhood he studied painting. Could visit Bulgaria and Byzantium to receive education. The young man’s high spiritual experience, which is reflected in his work, allows us to confidently assert that he visited the Holy Lands and communicated with the clergy.
Andrei's life took place in an era of difficult trials for Rus': bloody battles on the Kulikovo field for freedom from the Tatars, invasions of foreigners, fires, the fight against the hordes of Tamerlane. Perhaps these painful events pushed the young man to choose the monastic path.
The whole life of the saint is connected with the Spaso-Andronikov and Trinity-Sergius monasteries. Here he worked, fulfilling the orders of the Metropolitan, and here he achieved creative and spiritual perfection.

Brief information about the temple
The idea of building the Church of St. Andrei Rublev in Ramenki belongs to a church community registered in 1993. The church in Rublevo is one of the shrines, the construction of which began in our time.
Already by 1994, prayer services began to be held on the territory of the future monastery in honor of the icon painter, and a Cross was erected. Over the next six years, design work was carried out and land allocation was formalized. During the same period, services began to be held at the site of the future shrine.
From 2000 to 2008, permission to carry out construction work was documented, and measures were taken to find finance. At this time, a program for the construction of Orthodox churches was created with the support of the Patriarch and the mayor of the capital, the purpose of which was to provide city residents with churches near their place of residence.
Interesting to know!
– biography: who his family and children are.
A charitable foundation was created to raise funds, and from that time work on the construction of the building accelerated. On October 24, 2008, the long-awaited construction of a church began, designed for a thousand people, according to an individual project. By March, the foundation slab was made. The foundation of the building was consecrated by His Holiness the Patriarch on February 26, 2010. In the same year, construction of the ground floor was completed, where it is planned to house office premises, classes of an Orthodox school and a baptismal church.
Until 2011, communications were laid: water supply, sewerage, engineering networks, and internal work was carried out. Construction work is still ongoing.

Let's sum it up
Let us not be indifferent to the needs of those who live especially hard, who have to endure all the hardships of existence. Let us pray for the successful construction of the new church, for those who helped build this beautiful monastery.
The church of St. Andrei Rublev in Ramenki could easily be called “at Moscow State University”: dozens of its parishioners and three priests are university graduates. The church building under construction on Michurinsky Prospekt promises to become the architectural dominant of the area, but when is a painful question: money for construction has been collected for the ninth year. But even in such conditions, the parish manages to care for the elderly, collect things for the poor and send humanitarian aid to Donbass.
Meal in the cabin
— When I ran through the trenches, I always had a pistol and a grenade ready. So as not to surrender... - a woman named Vera talks about suicide. The priest, Father Andrei, listens silently, does not interrupt, sometimes quietly sighs: “Save, Lord!” No condemnation, no teaching.
Vera came from Donbass. She says she fought. In her native Krasnodon, which glorified the feat of the Young Guard, she has children and grandchildren. They live from hand to mouth. She scraped together the last 4 thousand rubles and came to Moscow, got a job as a concierge in a residential building in Ramenki. She sends all the money home; she no longer has enough for clothes and food. Therefore, he does not refuse the offered bowl of soup.
“They even gave me boots here, otherwise I don’t even have anything to wear!” And... thanks for listening. It became easier.
Here, in the church of St. Andrei Rublev, where they regularly hold events to collect clothes for the needy and homeless. The result of the current one is the 44th in a row - a complete “Gazelle” of things. Volunteers from the “Mercy” society are not able to lift such bags - it consists mainly of elderly parishioners. The “Andreevtsy” - a youth group of the temple, from which three guys from Moscow State University came today: Dima from the Faculty of Soil Science, Anya from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and Kostya from the Faculty of Physics - are helping to load the load. After which everyone gathers in... the garage-change house, which replaces the refectory.
The Church of Andrei Rublev will someday become the largest in the Ramenka area: 3000 square meters is a third of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. With two chapels - for 400 and 900 parishioners, classes for Sunday school, a cinema hall, a prosphora, a sacristy, and an icon-painting workshop. But for now, services are held next door - in the wooden Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Construction of the stone church began in 2008, but it is still in the woods - it is being built with donations from parishioners.
“I have as many workers as I can pay,” explains the rector of the church, Archpriest Andrei Galukhin. — Now there are three monolithic workers and four masons. To put a roof under it, we need 30 million rubles, but in total we are collecting 150 million for construction.
They offer to immortalize philanthropists: bricks with the names of donors are placed in the wall.

On December 29, the last tour of churches under construction in 2021 took place in the Western District of the capital.
The pre-New Year's meeting was headed by the Patriarch's adviser on construction issues, deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V.I. Resin. The prefect of the Western District A.O. took part in the tour. Alexandrov, rectors of churches under construction, designers, builders, philanthropists, representatives of the Financial and Economic Administration and the Western Vicariate, the prefecture of the Western District and district administrations.
Hieromonk Jonah (Golov), responsible for the implementation of the Program for the construction of Orthodox churches in the Western Vicariate, spoke about the progress of the retreat and work on the sites.
The first point of the detour was one of the most beautiful churches of the Program - the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Unfading Flower” in Rublev. Address: Rublevo village, st. Vasily Botylev, owner. 41.
The temple is a magnificent example of a style characteristic of Russian, primarily Moscow, architecture of the 17th century and called “Russian patterned”. A distinctive feature of the temple was its very gentle, delicate color scheme. The blue color of the roof and dome indicates the dedication of the temple to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This year, paintings and iconostases were carried out in the side aisles of the temple. Today everything is completed. Also this year, a two-story wooden parish house was completed. All that remains is to fill it with furniture. The landscaping of the territory was carried out in a “winter version”. The prefecture put a lot of effort into improving the territory adjacent to the temple.
From Rublev, the Program curators headed to the Fili-Davydkovo area. Two temple complexes are being built here: on Barclay Street, vl. 9, and on Davydkovskaya Street, opposite No. 12.
On Barclay street, ow. 9, a temple complex with the temple of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifuntsky, is being built. Monolithic work has been completed on the temple, brick walls have been laid, and work is underway on the internal vaults. In 2021, a tent, a small belfry and a dome will be installed. The parish house is almost ready. The comments are currently being addressed.
In addition, it was decided to preserve the small wooden temple, since the main stone temple is small - only for 300 people. The area adjacent to the temple is landscaped by the prefecture.
On Davydkovskaya Street, opposite No. 12, a temple complex with the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God is being built. Monolithic work on the church was completed by the parish. The parish house has the entire monolith, brick walls and roof. The building's outline is closed. Work has been suspended until the warm season.
The next detour point was the Church of the Three Saints under construction on Mosfilmovskaya Street, vl. 80. The wooden church building was transferred to the parish of the Three Hierarchs from the parish of St. Andrei Rublev in Ramenki. The log house on Mosfilmovskaya was assembled and the installation of the roof has recently begun.
In Ramenki, a temple complex with the temple of St. Andrei Rublev was built. The interior finishing of the upper aisle is underway. Artists painted the dome and vaults. It's warm in the temple. All engineering has been installed.
In the parish house, combined with the church in one volume, most of the rooms are landscaped. The assembly hall and refectory were finished in a fine finish. After the new year, clearing of the temple area will begin.
Landscaping - in the spring.
Divine services are currently being held in the lower church, in which, after finishing the upper aisle, interior finishing work will also be carried out.
The temple complex in Ramenki is one of the largest objects of the Program. The temple is designed for 900 parishioners. White stone, with a green roof and a gilded dome, the temple also has a belfry with three small domes. The project is based on the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Andronikov Monastery, which was painted by the Rev. Andrei Rublev.

Father Andrey Galukhin shows a temporary temple from the window of the one under construction
The path to the temple began back in 1993. First, explains Father Andrei, the community gathered, registered, and began begging for land - this is not easy in Moscow.
Then, by decree of the Moscow Government, a vacant lot was allocated, and then, with the blessing of the Patriarch, work began on the project. It’s also slow: there are a lot of communications around that need to be taken into account, plus the Ramenki metro station is being built.
— In 2001, this wooden chapel was built. There is nothing more permanent than temporary,” Father Andrey laughs. — During the liturgy, 200 people stand here! Many people were baptized here, got married, someone was escorted into another world...
It was from this small church that the path to Orthodoxy began for priest Gleb Kiselyov, a graduate of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, and now a cleric of the Andrei Rublev Church. He said he was brought to church by his wife.
Father Gleb Kiselev
— I came to the temple about 10 years ago, I wanted to become a priest. But you cannot become one right away: this is a long procedure, you need to receive a higher spiritual education.
Then I was ordained, and I already had a large family, three children - now there are five.
I had to work in science (father Gleb is a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences - “TD”), but I always perceived science as something external. The time has come - I became a priest.
There are now two candidates of science serving in the church - also Father Nikolai from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. And also Father Alexander, also a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.
For Archpriest Alexander Nikolsky, the path to God began right in the corridor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. “Once I was walking past a smoking room, I heard students talking and my ear caught the words “father” and “conversations.”
He returned to the smoking room and asked: “What kind of priest, what kind of conversation?” So he came to his future confessor, then entered the seminary and became a priest,” this is how 22-year-old Kostya, one of the “Andreevites,” tells the story of Father Alexander.

Or 27-year-old Anya: “A friend in the dorm told me about Father Alexander, so I came to the temple,” and for eight years she hasn’t left.
Father Andrey, Kostya and Dima

News — Andrey Rublev — Interview — Maslovka
Father's word at the opening of the exhibition
I, as the rector of the church of St. Andrei Rublev under construction on Verkhnyaya Maslovka, am especially happy to be present at this exhibition. The artists are celebrating the 85th anniversary of the Town, and a little over ten years ago they had a wonderful initiative to build a temple in the Town, and an Orthodox community was created. Ten years is a small anniversary.
The artists' town has enormous potential and helps people become familiar with Russian culture. Unfortunately, many people do not know about it, or know little, but I am sure that the construction of the temple will give the Town of Artists what it so lacked.
A temple is a center of spiritual life that transforms the space around it, transforms the people living in this place. I recently talked with the rector of a church in Opalikha near Moscow, a place where there was no church before.
The priest testified that after the temple appeared, the atmosphere in the village changed. Life began to be organized differently. I think that when such a spiritual center appears on Maslovka, people will be drawn here.
Building a temple is not only an aesthetic task; it is not just a beautiful building. People need him. Nearby churches are overwhelmed.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill noted that Moscow is in last place in Russia in terms of the number of churches per capita.
Temples are really needed here! Our church has already become an integral part of the Town of Artists. It has not yet been physically built, but a lot of work has already been done.
In Moscow, preliminary preparation is often more difficult and more important than the construction itself, which can be carried out very quickly.
I am happy that the temple will be in honor of the Monk Andrei Rublev, a saint whose life example is a bridge between culture and faith, between Orthodox people who revere the holy ascetic monk and between cultured people who know him as a wonderful artist. The choice is organic and obvious.
It’s wonderful that artists imitate St. Andrew, an unsurpassed master. Let us remember that liturgical texts also note that he achieved amazing skill. Father Pavel Florensky said a paradoxical thought - an aesthetic justification for the existence of God: “If there is Rublev’s Trinity, then there is God.”
What he depicted does not fit in my head. The service says that he did not draw his own inventions, but the visions of the holy fathers, to whom he completely submitted his will.
The Church teaches that every person is called to creativity. The creator is not only an artist. A person who, for example, washes dishes or digs a hole, is also a creator by vocation; he imitates God.
The Lord is the true Creator of our world, and people are called to become little creators when they receive God's blessing, God's help and God's grace.
And this happens when a person rejects his will, when he knows how to reconcile his wishes with the will of God, then he reaches amazing heights, as exemplified by St. Andrei Rublev.
His fate is amazing. He departed to the Lord in the 15th century, and is little revered here in Russia and in Moscow in particular, although it is with this land that his life and work are connected. It is no coincidence that he is little revered; it was his conscious choice.
The official canonization of St. Andrew took place at the end of the 20th century, more than 500 years after his earthly journey ended. The monk himself did not want this. He hid his name and exploits, as is again wonderfully said about him in the liturgical text.
This is an example for us! The saints say that a person who hides his works, good deeds, who is modest, becomes a lamp standing on the top of the mountain.
It is important for all of us to imitate St. Andrew, because participation in the building of the church is a huge responsibility and a challenge that faces each of us.
We will not be able to build a temple if we do not become at least partly like St. Andrew, if we do not have him as a model not only in our creativity, but throughout our entire lives.
We must try to think the same way as Andrey, to live like him.
I dare to say that St. Andrew belongs not only to artists, but also to all believers, seeking people, striving to live life correctly and with dignity.
I am grateful to everyone who participates and helps in the construction of the temple - both artists and non-artists. Our undertaking has already gone far beyond the boundaries of the Town, many people are involved in this matter, otherwise it would be difficult for us to carry out our plans.
Low bow to all of you! Let me remind you that the Church at every service prays for the people who built the temple where people come to serve. Over the years, we begin to think about not so much perpetuating our memory, but doing something real, authentic.
And we can say without exaggeration that people who participate in the construction of the temple receive God’s blessing, God’s reward and will never regret it.
Perhaps for many of us this will become a matter of life, something with which we will justify ourselves before God when he asks us about how we lived our lives and what we did in this world.
Our circle of helpers is open. We invite you to take part in this good cause. We need co-workers. We hope that the temple will become popular, that it will be good and warm for each of us, that we will be able to communicate with interesting people, that artists will talk about their art, and introduce parishioners to the beauty of painting.
And that a person who suddenly becomes sad and lonely, if he suddenly experiences grief, if he loses someone close to him, or gets sick - he can always come here and receive support, warmth, consolation and help, as from our God - the Savior Jesus Christ, and from those people who will make up the community, the temple.
May God grant us to build it as soon as possible!
Construction of temples
The southern district of Moscow is one of the few where residents will be fully provided with churches within walking distance. In the Southern District, 26 sites have been selected for the construction of churches - seven churches have already been built, six of them have been commissioned.
Active construction has begun at eight addresses, two more sites are being prepared for the start of work, the rest are at the design stage and documentation approval.
On the street
Dnepropetrovskaya, vl. 16, a temple is being built in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity in the style of classic Moscow estates of the 19th century.
The building is extremely harmonious - there will be no columns supporting the ceilings, and due to this, a large, bright, interior space will open up for parishioners. Due to a delay in funding, the construction work schedule was shifted, but not stopped - the work was carried out in stages, as funds were collected.
Now the installation of the temple vaults is being completed, the brickwork of the walls has reached the 10-meter mark. The main thing is that we managed to provide heat to the building in time, this ensured that work could continue during the cold weather. At the same time, roofing work is underway on the parish house.
The temple is being built solely on voluntary donations from residents. The curator of the program instructed to draw up a work schedule with the completion of construction and the beginning of services in 2021.
The program for the construction of Orthodox churches (“Program 200”) has been deployed in all districts of the capital, except for the Central. Its goal is to provide city residents with temples close to home.
The program is run entirely on donations. To raise funds, a charitable Fund was created to support the construction of churches in Moscow, co-chaired by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin and Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill.
The program is supervised by the mayor's advisor, construction advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus', State Duma deputy of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vladimir Resin - he is the chairman of the foundation's working group.
The construction of the temple in honor of Andrei Rublev in Ramenki is coming to an end
The main work on the construction of a temple in honor of St. Andrei Rublev in Ramenki in the west of the city is coming to an end.
A temple for 1 thousand parishioners is being built on the street. Ramenki, 2. The image of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Andronikov Monastery is taken as the basis for the project.
Construction intensified in 2021, when, at the request of parishioners, the facility was included in the program. The building was almost completely erected in two years.
At the moment, the belfry and roof are ready, the finishing of the facades is completed. Heat has been brought into the temple, and the interior decoration has been partially completed. Plastering and interior finishing work will continue as funding becomes available.
Temples in Rus' have long been built by the whole world - this is how they are built today. Moreover, Muscovites donate, regardless of their affiliation with a particular religious denomination.
The rector of the church, Archpriest Andrei Galukhin, explained that only after finishing work and installation of the iconostasis will the rite of great consecration take place.
The Western District, with a population of over 1.5 million people, is one of the leaders in the construction of churches - work is being carried out at 24 addresses. Seven churches have been commissioned, and active construction is underway at seven more sites. Dozens of objects are being designed.
The Temple of the Archangel Gabriel on Borisov Ponds will be completed in 2019
The temple complex in honor of the Archangel Gabriel in the Northern Brateevo district in the south of the capital will be commissioned in 2021. The site for construction was chosen on the shore of a pond, surrounded by a green park. It will be a temple complex in one building.
The church will be built in the old Pskov style: it will be single-domed with a low belfry. The project was developed by architect Vladimir Medievsky.
The walls have already been raised by four meters - this is the lower part of the building, which will house the parish house. Here the main construction work is almost completed.
Now all efforts are concentrated on the upper part of the church, where a ready-made wide staircase leads. It is planned to finish the brickwork of the walls in June, and install the domes and raise the crosses in July.
The Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was built according to the same project in the city of Lesosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Construction financing is stable. The temple has a benefactor who is committed to completing the work as quickly as possible.
This year it is planned to erect the church building itself. Its decoration and decoration will continue next year. The temple will be commissioned in the fall of 2021.
A unique temple in honor of the Baptist of Rus' will be built in the Novogireevo region
The main work on the construction of a temple in honor of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir in the east of the capital is planned to be completed before the end of 2021, said Vladimir Resin, curator of the program for the construction of Orthodox churches in Moscow, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The temple complex is being built on the street. Perovskaya, vl. 64 in the Novogireevo area. Work began last year, as soon as the parishioners raised funds for the construction of the zero cycle of the building (the part that is below the first floor).
The zero cycle has already been completed, the foundation slab has been poured. This year the main work should be completed, but the ceremony of the great consecration will not take place until 2021. Now the parish is preparing for the second stage of work, funds are being raised for the construction of the building.
In 2021, a small wooden church was consecrated on Perovskaya Street in honor of the righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov. Nearby it was planned to build a stone church in honor of Prince Vladimir for 300 people.
The project was carried out by Honored Architect of Russia Andrei Obolensky. In 2021, on the anniversary of the millennium of the repose of the Grand Duke, the Baptist of Rus', a cross was erected on the site of the future temple.
At that time, there were few churches in Moscow dedicated to the founder of the Russian state - only one or two. In 2019, the house church in honor of Prince Vladimir was restored in the Moscow Diocesan House on Likhov Lane.
In total, work is underway in the Eastern District on 22 sites, six churches have been commissioned, seven are under construction, and eight more are being designed.
A cross was installed on the temple in honor of Sergius of Radonezh in Southern Tushino
A cross was consecrated and installed on the main dome of the church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the South Tushino district. The church is being built on the street. Vasily Petushkova, opposite owner. 3 in the North-Western district of the capital.
Not enough funds were collected for construction, so it was decided to first build and improve the parish house. The façade work on the parish house has been completed, and the Sunday school has moved to the new premises. The roofing work in the temple itself is being completed.
The temple complex is planned to be put into operation in 2019.
There are 25 Orthodox churches in the North-Western District, and work is underway on another 20 sites. Under the program, two churches have been commissioned, seven are under construction and nine are in the pre-design stage.
The Temple of Seraphim of Sarov will appear in the north of Moscow
Permission has already been issued for the construction of a temple in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the north of the city. Until now, there was no Orthodox church in the Eastern Degunino region, where more than 95 thousand people live. Building a church will solve this problem. Now services are held in a temporary wooden church, built by the parishioners themselves.
A large stone church will appear on the street. Dubninskaya, vl. 24 and will be designed for 350 parishioners. A two-story parish house will be built next door. It will house a baptismal area, a refectory, Sunday school classrooms, and administration and recreation facilities.
The building will be built using funds from investors and donations from parishioners. The building permit is valid until September 2020.
Mosgosstroynadzor, on behalf of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, pays special attention to the quality of work on socially significant facilities. Specialists from the Center for Expertise, Research and Testing in Construction will be involved in the inspections of the temple in the Eastern Degunino area, who will conduct a set of laboratory and instrumental studies.
Four churches were erected in the southwest of Moscow
Four churches have been commissioned in the southwest of the capital, and the same number are under construction.
One of the recently introduced ones is a small single-domed church in honor of the prophet of God Elijah for 200 parishioners. On the western entrance side there is a belfry with a decorative dome.
The floor of the temple is ready and a permanent iconostasis has been installed. The area is now fenced off. We will continue the improvement in the spring, when it gets warmer and a benefactor is found.
The temple is already working at full capacity. On Christmas Day, the parish organized a children's party for residents of nearby houses.
There are 30 Orthodox churches in the Southwestern District. There are 24 sites in the works for the program. Three sites are being prepared for construction, four churches are being designed.
A unique temple will appear on the site of the old Russian Railways kindergarten
A temple in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God will open on the site of a former kindergarten in the east of Moscow. The temple is interesting from a construction point of view because it is created through the gradual reconstruction of a dilapidated building.
This is a unique project, unusual in its approach to work. It can become an example for other districts of the capital, and perhaps even regions of Russia, where it is not easy to find a free plot for temple construction, and there are dilapidated buildings that do not represent historical and cultural value.
The old building of the former departmental kindergarten on the street. The Orthodox community received 9-ya Parkovaya, 4A in the Vostochnoye Izmailovo district from Russian Railways. The builders chose the path of stage-by-stage reconstruction: the old premises were gradually dismantled, while simultaneously carrying out work on the new temple.
Construction has already been completed in the eastern part of the temple, work is underway in the upper temple - installing floors, manufacturing and installing a temporary iconostasis. The minor consecration of the upper church should take place before the end of February.
The temple in honor of the righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov will be completed in February
The five-domed temple in honor of the holy righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov in the southwest of the capital will be opened in February, the year of the 100th anniversary of the Russian Army.
A temple for 500 parishioners was erected on the street. Yuzhnobutovskaya, 6, bldg. 1 in the Yuzhnoye Butovo district in the traditions of Vladimir-Suzdal architecture. A large parish house with a belfry was built nearby.
The main feature of the Fyodor Ushakov Temple is that it was built using technologies that have no analogues in Moscow. The frame is assembled from precast concrete, specially manufactured at the factory. This technology made it possible not only to significantly reduce the period of construction and installation work, but also to improve their quality - factory production of structures is more reliable.
Along the perimeter of the building there are four large frieze panels in the form of a kokoshnik, each of them weighs 9 tons.
The interior decoration has been completed, and painstaking work on painting the vaults and walls of the altar is underway. A unique stone carved iconostasis has been installed and filled with icons.
The temple is richly decorated with stucco, about 900 hanging elements, stucco moldings, semi-columns and other architectural details are installed, giving the building a solemn and unique look. The main task is to prepare the temple complex for the Great Consecration, which will take place in the first half of this year.
The initiative to build the temple was taken by the Interregional public organization “Veterans of Military Counterintelligence” as part of the all-Russian charitable initiative “Silent Echo of War”. It is dedicated to the memory of soldiers of the State Security of Russia.
A Sunday school will be opened at the Church of the Holy Passion-Bearers in the north of Moscow
The parish house next to the Church of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers in the north of the city will become a public center for the moral and patriotic education of youth.
The temple is being built at the address: 6th Novopodmoskovny lane, vl. 7 in Voykovsky district.
Residents of the Northern District will receive not only a completed temple complex, but also a new public space. Pilgrimage and legal services are already operating in the landscaped area. It is planned to open a Sunday school and a youth club in the new parish house.
The temple and parish house are being built with donations from citizens who are not indifferent to the history and culture of Orthodox Russia.
The Church of the Holy Passion-Bearers is the first in the framework of the program for the construction of Orthodox churches in the north of the capital.
One church has been put into operation in the district, six churches are under construction and five more are in preparation for design. In total, there are 16 churches in the Northern Administrative District, where 1.1 million people live.
The Church in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be opened by July
The main construction and installation work in the church in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been completed.
The temple is located on the street. Yuzhnobutovskaya, between houses 62 and 66 in the southwest of the capital.
The church is being built with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in the South Butovo district, where previously only a small chapel operated. The construction initiative belongs exclusively to local residents.
After the walls were erected under the dome, the parish had problems finding funds for construction. Then the parishioners, together with the rector, turned to the city planners and asked to include the facility in the program for the construction of Orthodox churches.
The Vvedenskaya Church project is one of the most beautiful and large-scale. It was created by LLC Architectural and Artistic Workshops of the Danilov Monastery and won the All-Russian review competition of projects of Orthodox churches of the 21st century in the category “Cathedral for 1000-3000 people.”
The temple has already been built. Work is underway to lay a heating main and water supply system, as well as to equip an engineering block. We will be landscaping the area in the spring. We plan to open the temple in the second quarter of this year.
In the South-Western District, 24 sites are in operation. Four churches have been put into operation, four more are under construction, three are being prepared for the start of construction and four are being designed.

Candidates for rank
— I came to the temple about 10 years ago, I wanted to become a priest. But you cannot become one right away: this is a long procedure, you need to receive a higher spiritual education. Then I was ordained, and I already had a large family, three children - now there are five. I had to work in science (father Gleb is a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences - “TD”
), but I always perceived science as something external. The time has come - I became a priest.
There are now two candidates of science serving in the church - also Father Nikolai from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. And Father Alexander, also a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.
For Archpriest Alexander Nikolsky, the path to God began right in the corridor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. “Once I was walking past a smoking room, I heard students talking and my ear caught the words “father” and “conversations.” He returned to the smoking room and asked: “What kind of priest, what kind of conversation?” So he came to his future confessor, then entered the seminary and became a priest,” this is how 22-year-old Kostya, one of the “Andreevites,” tells the story of Father Alexander.
