Temple of the Holy Spirit
- Orthodox church in Krasnodar. Construction of the temple began in 2001.
History[edit]
The revival of the great Orthodox traditions, which began in Russia after 70 years of godlessness, in 1993 also affected the Komsomolsky microdistrict of Krasnodar. With the blessing of His Eminence the Most Reverend Isidore, Metropolitan of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, a parish was opened in one of the residential buildings in honor and memory of the Holy Spirit.
The first steps to return believers to the fold of the church were very difficult. The newly opened parish had neither premises for holding services, nor liturgical utensils, nor other necessary property. And the number of parishioners was very small. But the faith of the parish rector was strong and the residents of the neighborhood had a high need for worship - the parish began its godly life and the work of introducing people to the holy sacraments.
Since 1996, Priest Sergius Lopasov was appointed rector of the Holy Spirit Church. This year began the active development of the parish's church life. As a result of the efforts made, it was possible to find a temporary premises for worship. Since 1996 to 1999 Church life and the parish community are developing, a project for the future church is being created, which should rise in the very center of the KMR.
In an open field - a place for the construction of a temple The secular authorities were sympathetic to the needs and aspirations of Orthodox people, and soon the administration of the Karasun intra-city district allocated a plot of land for the construction of a new Orthodox temple.
Construction of the temple
By March 2000, the main work related to preparation for the construction of the temple had been carried out. And already on March 15, the foundation slab was laid and consecrated by Archbishop Isidor of Krasnodar and Novorossiysk (now Metropolitan of Ekaterinodar and Kuban) at the site of the future construction of the temple.
Since the same year, services in the temple have been held daily. The parish has on its staff 6 priests, a deacon and two choirs.
In September 2007, after a solemn prayer service led by the rector, Archpriest Sergius, small domes were installed, and in March 2008, the triumph of Orthodoxy in a separate region of Krasnodar was marked by the installation of the main dome of the Church of the Holy Spirit.
Since 2005, on the Day of the Holy Trinity, an annual tradition has appeared in the church of performing a religious procession around the Komsomolsky microdistrict. Believers always look forward to this event with joy and definitely try to take part in it. Singing prayers and reading the Holy Gospel, worshipers, led by clergy, go around the entire area to ask for God's blessing on all its inhabitants. And even those who do not participate in the procession do not remain indifferent to this triumph of Orthodoxy.
Construction of the temple began in 2001. and is currently nearing completion. The temple has two altars. The upper, main altar of the temple is in honor and memory of the Holy Spirit. The lower altar is dedicated to the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
July 7, 2011 Bishop Herman of Yeisk consecrated the lower chapel of the temple.
On October 23, 2011, Metropolitan Isidore of Ekaterinodar and Kuban and Bishop Tikhon of Maykop and Adygea consecrated the main chapel of the temple in honor and memory of the Holy Spirit. Many clergy of our Diocese also took part in the consecration. This event gathered a large number of believers in the temple, many of whom took an active part in the construction of the temple.
The difficult years of construction are behind us and today the temple appears before our eyes in its grandeur and beauty.

- Icon of the Mother of God “Right Hand” (it is located on the front side of the left column of the Holy Spirit Church). A few years ago, a real miracle happened to this hand-made image - it was renewed! In a fairly short time, all the blackness that covered the frame and the icon itself disappeared without a trace. In addition, the temple employees began to notice truly inexplicable phenomena - the lamp they had extinguished near the Right Hand icon turned out to be lit again after some time. Despite the fact that none of the people even came close to the image. And how many requests and petitions of those who prayed before this icon were fulfilled by the Mother of God! Grateful and hoping for mercy and miracles, Orthodox Christians constantly bring gifts of jewelry and flowers. With the blessing of Metropolitan Isidore of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, we have already begun writing an akathist and troparion to the “Right Handed” icon of the Mother of God.
Temple shrines and modern times
The Church of the Holy Spirit is quite “young” - at the level of Krasnodar and Russia, but it already has its own shrines, which are visited not only by local parishioners, but also by residents of other areas of the city. Here are:
- reliquary ark with a piece of the relics of the Venerable Martyr Elizabeth Feodorovna;
- a particle of the relics of St. Luke of Voino-Yasenetsky;
- an ark with particles of about 10 holy saints of God;
- a list of the image of St. Demetrius of Rostov with a reliquary, it was painted in the monastery where the shrine with his relics is located;
- the face of the Most Holy Theotokos called “Right Hand”.
Icon "Right Hand"
I would like to tell you something special about her. The story of how the original was found is lost. Tradition says that it was written by the Apostle Luke. “Right-Handed” is so named because the Infant of God is on the right hand of the Mother of God.
Previously, due to the blackness that appeared on the icon, the faces were difficult to see, and the frame was of the same dark color. But over time, a miracle happened - the darkness began to disappear without any intervention from human hands. In a short time, the icon began to be renewed - the colors acquired their former brightness, and the frame became noticeably lighter. Another miraculous phenomenon was the spontaneous combustion of the lamp near this image, which was witnessed by the temple employees. Many people praying at this icon left reviews that the Most Holy Theotokos heard their prayer.
Evidence of this is the jewelry placed behind the glass, which was left in gratitude. Now Metropolitan Isidore has given his blessing to write the akathist to the “Right Hand,” and on Mondays at 9:00, a prayer service is served in front of her in the lower chapel.
Temple today
Today the number of parishioners in the temple has noticeably increased. In 2016, a youth movement was organized. The guys make joint pilgrimage trips and participate in various events. At the Spiritual Church there is a library where there are books on various topics for spiritual education, CDs and DVDs. Those interested, adults and children, can enroll in Sunday school.
The parish priests participate in social activities; they care not only for their parishioners, but also visit hospitals, HOSPICES, rehabilitation and drug treatment centers in the capital of the Krasnodar Territory. Those who find themselves in a difficult situation can be helped here with clothes and food - hot meals are organized on the territory of the shrine, which is very important for the poor.

The period of hard times in Kuban has passed. And how in distant pre-revolutionary times people more and more often turn to God both in joy and in sorrow.
People's need for spiritual life is great and therefore more and more new churches are being built in Kuban. Where else but in God's church can a person leave his sorrowful thoughts, repent of his sins, and receive a blessing for good deeds.
The unity of the Holy Spirit, God the Father and God the Son as the triune God is reflected in the names of the Temples dedicated to him. The importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer can be seen in the example of the Temple dedicated to him in the Komsomolsky microdistrict of the city of Krasnodar. The Holy Spirit is the person of the Holy Trinity, through which the triune God acts in man and the church.
The opening of the Church of the Holy Spirit took place in 1993 with the blessing of Isidore, Metropolitan of Ekaterinodar and Kuban.
Initially, the temple was located on the first floor of a residential building. But soon funds and a site were received for the construction of the future temple. In 2001, at the consecrated site of the future church there was only a foundation slab and a cross. By 2005, a lower limit was built where only holiday services were held. With donations from parishioners, the bells of the Great Belfry were made, and a spire with a cross was erected on the main dome. Construction of God's temple proceeded slowly. And then, on the Feast of the Holy Spirit in 2005, a religious procession took place around the Komsomolsky microdistrict with a request for help in creating a new temple. Every brick invested in construction is someone’s prayer! By September 2007, the main buildings were completed. And already in 2011, the lower part and the main altar of the temple were consecrated, which the townspeople were incredibly happy about. An Orthodox church sparkled with its splendor in a new area of the city!
The white stone structure of an expressive silhouette rushes upward with its five cross-domed and hipped large belfries. The church was built in the style of Russian temple architecture with pronounced tiers.
The temple has two chapels: the upper one, in the name of the Holy Spirit, and the lower one, dedicated to the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
The temple is rich in Orthodox shrines. A special shrine of the temple is the icon of St. Demetrius of Rostov, from the Spaso-Yakovlev Monastery of Rostov the Great.
The man-made image of the icon of the Mother of God “Right Hand” of the temple is miraculous. Many parishioners watch it and testify to the miracles happening around the icon: the self-cleaning of the frame, the spontaneous combustion of the lamp.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit is a born, nurtured child, despite its novelty, a prayed-for pearl that is the decoration of the neighborhood. His place seems to have been determined by God himself. The people of the outskirts of the city of Krasnodar needed it so much.

Decoration of the temple for the Nativity of Hritov
Architecture of the church building
The Church of the Holy Spirit is made of brick, plastered and white. Its top is distinguished by five domes and one on the altar asp (a semicircular ledge on the eastern side). The church roof and the belfry “tent” are painted in green shades.
The upper aisle, to which a high porch (platform) leads, is located on some elevation. The entrance to the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit is the bell tower, connected to the main building by a covered passage.
Professionals from a local company worked on the interior decoration of the church. They made elegant iconostases, classical lecterns and icon cases. Painting masters partially decorated the walls and vaults of the temple with special paintings. In the center of the Krasnodar house of God, around the main columns, there are wooden icon cases that do not differ in style from the iconostasis.
Interesting! In the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit there is an amazing icon of the Most Pure Virgin “Right Hand”. According to legend, its author was the Apostle Luke.
Founding of the monastery
Back in 1793, the Cossacks founded the city of Ekaterinodar, which is now called Krasnodar. Its northern part was developed by the monks, where they built a chapel with a monastery. And in the future the building will be called the Church of the Nativity. Krasnodar will welcome everyone who wants to visit this famous monastery.
Already in the mid-nineteenth century, the farmstead began to be rebuilt. A chapel, a prayer house, a rector's house and two brick buildings were erected here; there were even outbuildings here. The territory of the farmstead itself began to be decorated with an orchard.
Already at the end of the nineteenth century, Abbot Nikandrat addressed the City Duma of Yekaterinograd, where he asked for help with the construction of a church on the territory of an already existing courtyard.
