Orthodox Youth Club of the Parish of St. George the Victorious

The youth movement “Parikia” of the parish of St. George the Victorious is a gathering of friends and like-minded people who realize themselves in various directions and remain “in the teaching of the Apostles, in fellowship and the breaking of bread and prayers” (Acts 2:41).

We regularly gather both in the temple and outside it, hold literary and artistic evenings, watch films, and communicate on topics that are relevant today.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

— We read poetry and prose as part of literary evenings, which take place every 2-3 months. Anyone can perform their favorite piece.

— We organize creative evenings with exhibitions and lectures on painting, icon painting, photography and video. The exhibition brings together works by parishioners of our church, participants of both ours and other youth clubs.

— We analyze liturgical texts and the history of Christian services, learn to read in the Church Slavonic language and apply the acquired knowledge by participating in worship as altar servers, readers and singers.

— We gather weekly in the temple, chat and play fun and intellectual games over coffee, tea and cookies. Together we go to the cinema, to the skating rink, play football and volleyball, and go sledding.

— Together we celebrate church holidays and take part in pilgrimage trips.

— We are engaged in social work, regularly visiting veterans and visiting the Arevik orphanage in Chaltyr.

— We shoot and edit beautiful videos, make photo reports about the events and life of the parish and the youth movement, write original articles and texts.

Youth Center

Youth projects of the Spiritual and Educational Center of the Sretensky Monastery unite young people aged 14 to 35 years. We read and discuss the Gospel together, reflect on spiritual life, go to a children's boarding school and to a boarding college for students with disabilities. Once a month we all gather together for Liturgy in the monastery, at which our youth choir sings.

Not far from the monastery monastery in the city of Mikhailov, Ryazan region, there is an Economic College for the Disabled. Every month, a group of volunteers from the youth association of the Sretensky Monastery comes to the boarding school to communicate with students and talk about Christ, the Gospel, and faith. About 30 students usually attend these meetings. From time to time, one of the participants in our conversations has a desire to begin confession, receive communion, or even accept holy Baptism. On Saturday classes are held for students, and on Sunday our volunteers help those who wish to come to the monastery monastery for the Liturgy. Some of the college graduates subsequently come to live and work in Moscow, and then our communication continues here in the Sretensky Monastery.

Joint Worships

Many of those who attend conversations in our Educational Center cannot come to services at Sretensky Monastery on Sundays (they visit other parishes), so once a month, on Saturday, we invite everyone to share with us the joy of the common Liturgy and Communion. Pupils of children's Sunday school with their parents and members of the youth association come to this service. The children's and youth choirs of the Educational Center sing. And after the service we get together to chat over a cup of tea in a warm atmosphere.

Youth club

A youth club has been opened at the Sretensky Monastery for children from 14 to 18 years old. The most important thing for us is informal communication, a friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to have an interesting and useful time.

Guys

The club program includes:

— joint communication, tea parties, holidays;

— watching and discussing interesting films;

— reading and discussion of the Gospel text;

— joint walks around Moscow and trips out of town;

— live communication with the priest, the opportunity to discuss any, including sensitive and “inconvenient” issues;

- theatrical performances and much more.

Girls

Classes are held on Sundays in the premises of the Spiritual and Educational Center in the new cathedral of the monastery. The meeting usually starts at 13:00, but you can come to the tea room earlier, immediately after the Sunday Liturgy.
