Is it possible to cast spells?
The very spread of conspiracies comes from religious ignorance. People who consider themselves Orthodox, and even lead church life, believe that they are doing something pious when, for example, going to an exam, they repeat the calls: “The Mother of God is in front of me, the Guardian Angel is behind me, St. Nicholas the Pleasant is on the left, Paraskeva Pyatnitsa is on the right.”
What the Orthodox Church says about conspiracies
Whereas the Church’s attitude towards conspiracies is extremely negative. This is a great sin, for which, according to the canons, penance is imposed (a time of repentance during which a person is not allowed to take communion and must follow the prayer rule prescribed by the priest, prostrations to the ground, etc., in order to beg God’s forgiveness. Imposed for especially serious sins).
People with little knowledge are misled by the fact that, firstly, “pious” expressions such as mentioning the names of saints can be used in conspiracies, and, secondly, conspiracies are sometimes found in prayer books, along with the correct prayers. Such prayer books do not contain a note about the blessing for publication from the diocesan bishop, or this blessing is forged.
Beliefs of the Peoples of the World
In New Guinea there is a tribe where they believe that by eating their enemies, they follow the will of the gods, and therefore are saturated with grace. Naturally, no thoughts of sin arise in their minds! But no, this does not mean that in our days in the civilized world you can go and start killing people and then eating them with impunity. The point is that even today we do many things that our more developed descendants will be horrified by. And the smallest of these sins is when we do not give up our seat to an old lady on the bus or pretend not to notice a beggar asking for alms. And there are so-called deals with conscience that are even worse.
But does anyone think about this as seriously as about the “sinfulness” of magic? Of course not, because other bad deeds are committed every day and are considered normal and ordinary. But people are wary of the other world.
For this you can still “thank” the church, which has never treated sorcerers well. But is the Bible a book that you can completely rely on? Let's look at an example. The Old Testament says: “Thou shalt not leave sorcerers alive.” But doesn’t this contradict the direct divine commandment “Thou shalt not kill”? But there were times in history when they did not think about this, but simply sent sorcerers, shamans and healers to the fire. And here we again return to the fact that in the context of that society there was nothing wrong with such actions.
Conspiracy and prayer - what's the difference?
This is the difference between faith in God and magic, which is what conspiracies refer to.
Theological works have been written about magical consciousness (for example, by Alexander Men), according to which magic for people is a substitute for genuine faith and communication with God. This phenomenon appeared shortly after the Fall. People lost contact with God, then, forgetting about Him, they came up with some “higher powers” and attempted to subjugate them with the help of witchcraft words, magical actions or objects, in order to thus control the world around them. This is the difference between a conspiracy and a prayer.
Attention! If in prayer a person places hope in God, asking Him to have mercy, protect and help, then with the help of a conspiracy people try to gain power over circumstances.
The logic is this: if I read these words at such and such a time (under the full moon, on the third day of Easter week, at noon, etc.), then I am guaranteed a promotion at work, healing, a dacha in the Moscow region, a good harvest cucumbers, etc.
And it doesn’t matter if, even in a conspiracy, a person turns not to the sun and the “sea-ocean”, but to Christ or the saints, the attitude towards them here is purely pagan. After all, we are not talking about trust in the mercy of God, with which the person praying places his fate in His hands, putting His will above his own, but about some magic words that will automatically give the desired effect. They will force higher powers (in this case, it turns out, God Himself) to fulfill the will of man. This is, to say the least, blasphemous.
The attitude of the church towards conspiracies
Here are the texts of the correct prayer and conspiracy as an example. Obviously, they have completely different semantic content:
- Conspiracy against hernia in babies. First, read the “Our Father” prayer, then repeat 3 times: “Gnaw, gnaw, I’ll eat you. With what I gave birth to you, I gave birth to you.” After each word “eat,” you are instructed to bite the hernia. And at the end say “Help, Lord, come to the aid of a baby born in prayer, baptized. The new moon will rise, the baby will have a hernia.” In total, it is recommended to conduct three “healing sessions” in three phases of lunar growth.
- Prayer for the healing of the sick. “On the bed of illness, lying and wounded by the wound of death, just as our God once raised up Peter’s mother-in-law and the paralytic carried on the bed, so now, we pray to You, visit and heal the sick: for You are the only one who has borne the ailments and illnesses of our family and who is all able. Much merciful."
In the first case, a magical ritual is described. Here is the witchcraft power of the moon, and sympathetic magic (symbolic biting off a hernia), and a magical prayer-spell.
The second text is a real Christian appeal to God, in which the sorrow and hope of those praying are conveyed. We remember the earthly life of Christ, how He healed the sick who came to Him, how He Himself, dying on the cross, shared their suffering with people.
It is emphasized that God can create any miracle.
How to protect yourself from kickback
Let's consider several mandatory points, the observance of which helps prevent the negative consequences of witchcraft.
1. Before performing any ritual, a diagnostic procedure should be carried out. This can be done using runes, Tarot cards, village eggs, wax, coffee grounds. 2. Each witchcraft ritual must be completed. Having performed the ritual once, you should not return to it. For example, a woman makes a call to her chosen one in order to receive a phone call or letter from him. If she constantly checks her mail, or forges the ceremony again just to be sure, this will only provoke a possible kickback. 3. The words of the conspiracy must be sealed with final phrases. Usually words like: “until the sun falls into the sea”, “until the maiden’s comb blooms”, “the key is under the threshold in the Kingdom of God, and the castle is in the sea-ocean”, etc. are used for this. 4. A practicing magician must have protection from witchcraft. Firstly, he must be internally clean of all negativity, since otherwise negative energy will be attracted to him according to the law of similarity, like a magnet. Secondly, the magician must have protection from witchcraft.
When considering the possible consequences of magic, it is wiser to pay attention not to the abstract commission of a sin and violation of church canons, but to the consequences that may occur for the magician already during his earthly existence. Magic is an effective tool for transforming reality. Whether to use it for good or evil is up to everyone to decide for themselves. But when making this decision, you should avoid overestimating your abilities and underestimating possible risks.

About "healers"
Any, even unconscious, use of magic is bad. But the worst thing is when a person also falls under the influence of a “healer.” Nowadays there are many such clairvoyants who perform various miracles and also spiritually instruct their clients.
Important! The “higher powers” that healers turn to in spells are demons. No matter how many times the names of saints, the Mother of God or Christ Himself are repeated in conspiracies, only evil spirits can respond to such a “prayer”.
This is who benefits from people’s faith in God being replaced by superstitions, and prayer by magical rituals.
Anyone who visits healers, listens to their advice and follows their instructions, is putting his soul in very bad hands, and the result will not be long in coming.
Is it worth contacting healers?
Kaskun's performance
You can often see performances by Maxim Kaskun, a clergyman who speaks out quite vehemently against all magical practices. What is he saying? Oddly enough, one can agree with many of his words. For example, with the fact that among sorcerers and soothsayers there are a lot of scammers. Yes, it is, but the magical society itself actively criticizes these same charlatans.
In addition, Maxim mentions that no one can know the future, only God himself. This is partly true, but not a single predictor has ever declared that he can know everything and anything that will happen. The prediction concerns only one specific person or only one specific situation, nothing more. Even completely seeing the whole fate of someone is not given to anyone. And often the future seen by the predictor is only one of the options for the development of events.
I wonder what opponents of magic would say if they themselves saw how prediction could save many human lives, for example, during a storm? Is this also evil and disgusting to God? Or maybe that’s why God gave people such a gift, so that they could use it for good?
Kaskun’s words that whispering grandmothers also take their gift from the unclean are simply ridiculous and absurd. Immediately an old woman appears, standing in a pentagram and reading terrible words in Latin. And Maxim doesn’t even pay attention to the fact that such grandmothers are often very religious and use Christian prayers in their rituals.
Another point of attack from Kaskun was the fact that sorcerers take money for their services. Probably in his understanding, magicians should feed on air and generally renounce everything worldly. Interesting opinion, try telling, for example, a taxi driver that he is doing something bad when he asks for money for his work. It's about the same here.
Maxim also mentions the fact that those who turn to magic should be excommunicated from the church. But let’s turn to more accurate sources, for example, those mentioned by the same Caskun “Rules of St. Basil the Great”.
Firstly, no act can become a reason for excommunication, unless this very act was committed by a high-ranking clergyman. Secondly, is it worth believing the words of this Basil the Great if he lived at a time when many famous scientists were burned at the stake for alleged witchcraft? And many were excommunicated, for example, Leo Tolstoy did not even worry about it.
Now let’s remember a significant church event when Christianity split into Orthodox and Roman Catholic. Then they wanted to excommunicate Michael Celularius, who was the Patriarch of Constantinople. As we can see, nothing good came of this.
And most importantly: why is it not God himself who deals with important issues of excommunication, but people who are, in principle, subjective? And does excommunication mean excommunication from religion?
Jesus Christ himself taught people a lesson about not judging. This is especially true for people who are in a difficult life situation and resort to the help of magicians. And especially the magicians themselves, who want with all their hearts to help the unfortunate.
Magic is just a tool, an opportunity given by God himself. How could people have it if God himself did not want it? This means that there can be no talk of any sin. Yes, a sorcerer can use his gift for harm, and this will be a sin. But do ordinary people commit lesser sins? So why is this stigma attached specifically to magicians, many of whom do not even think of harming anyone?
Feast of the Holy Trinity
Trinity Day in the Christian tradition is the celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, which happened on the fiftieth day after the Resurrection of Christ. On this holy day, believers cover the floors in the temple and in their homes with fresh grass, and decorate icons with young birch branches. Clothing is chosen predominantly in green colors, symbolizing renewal and the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit.
On this day it is not customary to do household chores, enter into financial transactions, business agreements, or arrange weddings. You cannot wish anyone harm, think bad thoughts, and even more so, do anything bad.
The Feast of the Holy Trinity is a holiday of renewal and purification of the soul; believers are instructed to spend it in prayers, godly deeds and thoughts. It is believed that the prayers and rituals of this holy day have special spiritual power and are imbued with divine energy. Also on this day, believers ask for special mercy, perform rituals for health, good luck in business, financial and family well-being.
