June 6. Jesus answered: Neither he nor his parents sinned, but this was so that the works of God might be revealed in him.

After this, Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, in the vicinity of Tiberias. Many people followed Him because they saw the miracles He performed on the sick. Jesus went up the mountain and sat there with His disciples. Passover, the Jewish holiday, was approaching.

Jesus, lifting up his eyes and seeing that many people were coming towards Him, said to Philip: Where can we buy bread to feed them? He said this, testing him; for He Himself knew what He wanted to do.

Philip answered Him: There will not be enough bread for them for two hundred denarii, so that each of them gets at least a little.

One of His disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to Him: here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is this for such a multitude?

Jesus said: Command them to lie down. There was a lot of grass in that place. So the people, numbering about five thousand, sat down. Jesus, having taken the loaves and given thanks, distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those reclining, also distributed the fish, as much as anyone wanted. And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the remaining pieces so that nothing is lost.” And they gathered and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves that were left over from those who ate.

Then the people who saw the miracle performed by Jesus said: This is truly the Prophet who is about to come into the world. Jesus, having learned that they wanted to come and accidentally take Him and make Him king, again withdrew to the mountain alone.

When evening came, His disciples went down to the sea and, entering a boat, went to the other side of the sea, to Capernaum. It was getting dark, and Jesus did not come to them. A strong wind was blowing and the sea was rough. Having sailed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and approaching a boat, and they were afraid. But He said to them: It is I; do not be afraid. They wanted to take Him into the boat; and immediately the boat landed on the shore where they were sailing.

The next day, the people standing on the other side of the sea saw that there, except for one boat into which His disciples had entered, there was no other, and that Jesus did not enter the boat with His disciples, but only His disciples sailed away. Meanwhile, other boats came from Tiberias close to the place where they were eating bread with the blessing of the Lord. So, when the people saw that Jesus and His disciples were not there, they got into boats and sailed to Capernaum, looking for Jesus. And finding Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him: Rabbi! when did you come here?

Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw miracles, but because you ate bread and were filled.” Do not strive for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, for the Father, God, has set His seal on Him.

So they said to Him: What must we do to do the works of God?

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

To this they said to Him: What sign will You give, so that we may see and believe You? What are you doing? Our fathers ate manna in the desert, as it is written: “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.” For the bread of God is the one that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.

To this they said to Him: Lord! always give us such bread.

Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst. But I told you that you have seen Me and do not believe. Whatever the Father gives Me will come to Me; And the one who comes to Me I will not cast out, for I came down from heaven not to do My will, but the will of the Father who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I should not destroy anything, but should raise it all up on the last day. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

The Jews grumbled at Him because He said: “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He say: “I came down from heaven”?

Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves.” No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. The prophets write: “and they will all be taught by God.” Everyone who has heard from the Father and learned comes to Me. It is not that anyone has seen the Father except He who is from God: He has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness and died; and the bread that comes down from heaven is such that whoever eats it will not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; And the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Then the Jews began to argue among themselves, saying: How can He give us His flesh to eat?

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My Flesh is truly food, and My Blood is truly drink. He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood abides in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live through the Father, so he who eats Me will live through Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers ate manna and died: whoever eats this bread will live forever.

These things He spoke in the synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.

Many of His disciples, hearing this, said: What strange words! who can listen to this?

But Jesus, knowing within Himself that His disciples were grumbling about this, said to them: Is this tempting you? What if you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? The Spirit gives life; the flesh does not benefit at all. The words that I speak to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who are unbelievers. (For Jesus knew from the beginning who the unbelievers were and who would betray Him.) And he said: For this reason I told you, that no one can come to Me unless it is given to him from My Father.

From that time on, many of His disciples left Him and no longer walked with Him.

Then Jesus said to the Twelve, “Will you also go away?”

Simon Peter answered Him: Lord! who should we go to? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed and known that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus answered them: Have I not chosen you twelve? but one of you is the devil. He spoke this about Judas Simon Iscariot, for he wanted to betray Him, being one of the Twelve.

CHAPTER 6.

a) Feeding of the five thousand.

A crowd of people wanders with Jesus, And faith awakens in the hearts of many, But then Christ brought people To the shore of the lake, an escarpment... There the time for Easter was approaching, But there was little bread to eat. Philip, Andrey, the students, were nearby in those days. The last time they collected bread, There was only one step left before troubles: And only flat cakes remained, And two small fish... But Jesus seated the people, - The skill was in the air for the Signs... The hungry people were ready: And children, wives, various rabble,.. Five men thousands there is something, - The good news was going around there... Jesus took the cakes in his hands And walked, so that everyone could pinch off: Yes, everyone ate, and the people, the disciples, gathered the pieces into twelve baskets, - there was no loss, - But the people understood again, That He is the Messiah and Prophet, - From God they have a happy horn! Yes, they forcibly predicted Jesus to be their King, secretly!.. The man of God understood this, And did not want to be King for a century: Secluded on the mountain, He thought about God and the Earth...

b) Jesus walks on water.

Already in the evening in Copernaum, Through the comprehension of all sorts of thoughts, But without waiting for Jesus, Without looking at the fluttering of midges, The disciples sailed on the lake on a boat... There was precipitation there, And the wind was blowing, there was a stormy wave, And it was completely dark, Disciples, suddenly , on the water, Yes, on the water! - Not on a raft! Everyone saw Christ clearly!.. That’s true, the truth is pure! He barely glided through the water, The surf washed them to the shore, They went to the shore, Jesus came: But it’s true, I’m afraid of God!

c) Bread of Life.

In the morning people gathered, They were surprised - they didn’t fight! And Christ gave them bread, but again the question was asked: “What can you do, show? What else can you tell us?” But God gave the words to Jesus, and already speaking, He said: “My God is great, and He gave bread! In the desert he saved the people from troubles! It was not Moses who fed the people, but God who fed and watered everyone! The Bread of Life will come to you from Heaven and it will bring life to the World!”

The Lord, the Father, sent him, - He alone, as he told everyone: “Immerse yourself in faith in me! I am your eternal bread on the table! - You will be watered and fed, And your life will be adjusted! I Myself am the Bread, the Bread of Life! But God, the Father, sent Me! I am the Bread from Heaven, Where My Father is! I will fulfill the will of the Father, And I will fulfill my duty to the end! But on the last day I will decide Whom I will resurrect in life! I am the eternal Bread! I am living bread! And God sent, He is My Father! Feed on My body, Yes, with faith, with your heart! Drink My blood, O She is drink! May life be a joy! May your life be eternal - Here is My Truth!!!

d) The disciples leave Jesus.

The Jews stand and argue - They do not understand His ideas: How to eat the body and drink blood, - And what kind of Faith? How should they live? They know their mother and father. “His father is too old to look at... What is He saying?” What is He telling everyone? The teaching is clearly not clear, And incomprehensible, and difficult... The disciples want to leave, - But there are difficult paths to God... Christ already has twelve of them, His Truth is simple: “But out of the twelve of you, - One will then leave us! - Because the devil the soul moved into him, having sinned...

I am God and the Son!.. And I am the Holy One!.. I am the Earthly Bread and the Earthly Light!”

Chapter 4

1 When Jesus learned about that had reached
the
Pharisees, that He was making more disciples and baptizing than John,

2 Although Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples

3 Then he left Judea and went again to Galilee.

4 Now He had to pass through Samaria.

5 So He comes to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 There was Jacob's well. Jesus, weary from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about six o'clock.

7 A woman comes from Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her: Give me something to drink.

8 For his disciples went into the city to buy food.

9 The Samaritan woman said to Him, “How can you, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” for Jews do not communicate with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that says to you, Give Me a drink, then you yourself would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

11 The woman said to Him: Master! you have nothing to draw with, but the well is deep; Where did you get your living water from?

12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it, and his children and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will thirst again,

14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.

15 The woman said to Him: Master! give me this water so that I won’t be thirsty and won’t have to come here to draw.

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”

17 The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus says to her: you said the truth that you have no husband,

18 For you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband; That's right what you said.

19 The woman said to Him: Lord! I see that you are a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that the place where we should worship is in Jerusalem.

21 Jesus said to her, Believe Me, that the time is coming when you will worship the Father, neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

22 You do not know what you worship, but we know what we worship, for salvation belongs to the Jews.

23 But the time will come, and has already come, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such worshipers for Himself.

24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.

25 The woman said to Him: I know that the Messiah will come, that is, Christ; when He comes, He will tell us everything.

26 Jesus said to her, “It is I who speak to you.”

27 At this time His disciples came and were surprised that He was talking to the woman; however, not one said: what do you require? or: what are you talking to her about?

28 Then the woman left her waterpot and went into the city, and said to the people:

29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that I have done: is not this the Christ?

30 They left the city and went to Him.

31 Meanwhile the disciples asked Him, saying: Rabbi! eat.

32 But He said to them, “I have food that you do not know.”

33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Who brought Him anything to eat?”

34 Jesus saith unto them, My food is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

35 Do you not say that there are still four months and the harvest will come? But I say to you: lift up your eyes and look at the fields, how they are white and ripe for harvest.

36 He who reaps receives reward and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that both he who sows and he who reaps will rejoice together,

37 For in this case the saying is true: one sows, and another reaps.

38 I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor: others labored, but you entered into their labor.

39 And many Samaritans from that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman, who testified that He told her all that she had done.

40 And therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.

41 And an even greater number believed at His word.

42 And they said to the woman, “It is no longer because of your words that we believe, for we ourselves have heard and known that He is truly the Savior of the world, Christ.”

43 And at the end of two days He left thence and went to Galilee,

44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

45 When He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, seeing all that He did in Jerusalem on the feast, for they also went to the feast.

46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where he turned water into wine. There was a certain courtier in Capernaum whose son was sick.

47 When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he came to Him and asked Him to come and heal his son, who was about to die.

48 Jesus said to him, “You will not believe unless you see signs and wonders.”

49 The nobleman said to Him: Lord! come before my son dies.

50 Jesus said to him, “Go, your son is well.” He believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went.

51 On the road his servants met him and said, “Your son is well.”

52 He asked them: at what time did he feel better? They told him: yesterday at seven o'clock the fever left him.

53 From this the father knew that this was the hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son is well, and he and his whole house believed.”

54 Jesus performed this second miracle when he returned from Judea to Galilee.
