Prophecy about the war between Russia and Turkey by the holy elder Paisius the Holy Mountain

Section of the site: Holy Elder Paisius the Svyatogorets.

“The sixth angel sounded, and I heard one voice from the four horns of the golden altar that stood before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet: Release the four angels bound by the great river Euphrates. And the four Angels were released, prepared for the hour and the day and the month and the year...”

(Revelation chapter 9, verses 13-15)

“When you hear that the Turks are blocking the waters of the Euphrates in the upper reaches with a dam and using them for irrigation, then know that we have already entered into the preparation of that great war.”

Holy Venerable Paisius the Svyatogorets.

The holy elder Paisius the Svyatogorets predicted a war between Russia and Turkey 25 years ago. According to his prophecy, Russia will win, and Türkiye will disappear from the world map forever.

In times of great upheaval, the prophecies of Nostradamus and Vanga on the topic of the day are sure to emerge (in hindsight). Look, they say, when the event was prescribed! Modern oracles and stargazers immediately join the patriarchs of clairvoyance and pull out their supposedly fulfilled vague predictions from their sleeves.

However, after the death of the Su-24 in Syria, the prediction of a monk from Mount Athos about a fight between Turkey and Russia became a sensation. The documentary “Armageddon - a war that will soon begin” suddenly became popular on the Internet. Prophecies of Elder Paisius the Holy Mountain. Filmed by the Greeks a few years ago.

To separate the wheat from the chaff, I had to meet with the writer Yuri Vorobievsky, the author of books and documentaries about Athos and its elders.

Radio Operator of God

“Please do not put Paisiy on the same level as Vanga,” Vorobievsky first told me. — The Orthodox tradition speaks of certain foresights, prophecies coming from God and from a completely different source. From the underworld. The criterion is, as a rule, the personal holiness of the predictor. There is a well-known case with Metropolitan Nathanael, whom Vanga herself invited for advice. The metropolitan wore a reliquary cross with a piece of the Holy Cross of the Lord. As soon as the guest entered the house, the blind seer screamed hysterically in a changed voice: “THIS is stopping me from speaking!” Because of THIS I can't see anything! I don’t want THIS in my house!” "I was afraid of the cross. Why? Many consider the temple that Vanga built in her native village with her own money to be a sign of the clairvoyant’s holiness. But this chapel is not consecrated by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, as is the case with new churches. Also an eloquent fact. And you can build anything.

Paisios spent more than forty years in ascetic deeds on Holy Mount Athos. One of the most respected Greek elders, he is also revered in Russia. It is written about the elder: “His right hand refused to serve him due to the countless signs of the cross that he performed while praying the rosary. However, in order to give his hand a rest, he did not stop praying. He transferred the rosary to his right hand, and began to make the sign of the cross with his left... The elder was likened to a warrior who fought the enemy in any way, with “the weapon of truth in his right and left hand.” In January 2015, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate canonized him as a saint. Paisius is included in the month book of the Russian Orthodox Church.

This is the fundamental difference between Paisiy and Vanga.

In his youth, before Mount Athos, he served as a radio operator in the Greek army for 3.5 years. He called the monks “radio operators of God,” and called holy prayer the air defense of man.

It is no coincidence, I think, that many of the prophecies of the Athonite elder are related to military topics and terminology.

“War is coming, prayer needs to be strengthened”

The editorial mail of the Publishing House "Holy Mountain" and the website АgionОros.ru receive many questions regarding the prophecies of Paisius the Svyatogorets about the liberation of Constantinople and the coming Russian-Turkish war.

Due to the fact that publications have appeared on the Internet questioning the reliability of these prophecies, the Holy Mountain publishes fragments of an interview with Metropolitan Neophytos of Morph (Cypriot Orthodox Church).

Metropolitan Neophyte of Morph

The Bishop was personally acquainted with many modern ascetics of the Orthodox Church: elders Jacob (Tsalikis) and Sophronius (Sakharov), saints Paisius the Svyatogorets and Porfiry Kavsokalivit.

— Vladyka, is this the third world war?

— Three years ago, I gave an interview to your colleague Nikos Kyriakou, in which I talked about upcoming events. Then there was a certain risk in such bold forecasts, but I was based not only on assessments of the geostrategic situation in the world, but on the opinions of the people of God whom I met in my youth or those with whom I continue to maintain relations today (after all, in our time there are saints , which can look into the future).

We knew that the “big war” (as the perspicacious elders called it) would begin in Syria. At a time when life in this state was calm, the ascetics accurately indicated the place where the conflict would break out.

— And now Russia has also joined in the events...

Venerable Paisiy Svyatogorets

— We knew that Russia would take part in them. I remember how I told Sigma-Live journalist Fanasis Athanasiou about this, and he answered me: “How do you, an educated person, believe the prophecies of Paisius the Holy Mountain?” He said this as if the words of Father Paisius meant nothing. But Paisiy Svyatogorets is a modern saint! If we, bishops, do not trust the words of modern saints and their gift of foresight, who then can we trust? Their words have already partially come true, partially awaiting their fulfillment.

— What will happen to Cyprus?

- The consequence of the Russian-Turkish conflict will be the liberation of Cyprus, because Turkey will be defeated in this war...

Erdogan's dream is to become the caliph of Sunni Islam. Not only Russia (where many Sunni Muslims live), but also the United States and Israel do not want the implementation of such ambitious plans. They do not benefit from the creation of a powerful caliphate in the East.

— Will the liberation of Cyprus from occupation be achieved through peace negotiations?

- No. The events in Syria and the Russian-Turkish war, which is gradually beginning to unfold before our eyes, will lead to this.

Events are developing very quickly. Last year, on the day Russia began its operation in Syria, we were just serving night duty. Only four and a half months have passed since that day, but so much has happened!

— How should ordinary people behave in the light of such events? Is it possible to do something?

- Repentance is necessary. We will be amazed at the extent to which repentance for our personal sins and errors will benefit society. Repentance inspires a person and frees his soul from the shackles of sin. The same applies to the whole society.

—What can you say about the prophecies of Saint Paisius the Holy Mountain?

Venerable Paisiy Svyatogorets

“Reverend Paisius was guided by the Holy Spirit, the Most Holy Theotokos appeared to him!” Many can attest to his prophetic gift. I personally heard from the elder predictions that have already come true and are being carried out before our eyes.

He was glorified by our Church as a saint. His prophecies (including those about the collapse of Turkey) were known before his canonization, including in the Patriarchate of Constantinople. This is as much a part of his legacy as books and instructions.

Doubts about the elder’s prophecies are due to the fact that some Orthodox Christians are guided by rationalism and positivist consciousness. They think their faith is sufficient, but it is fragmentary.

* * *

The prophet does not want war, does not want destruction. On the contrary, he asks God (who respects human freedom), according to faith, to reduce the consequences of evil (if people are worthy of it).

This is our mission. Pray that the events that are about to happen will not last long and cause people as little suffering as possible.

The prophet sees events that are about to happen. But we have the power to delay them, or even cancel them (if we have a bold and fiery prayer to God).

We need to strengthen our prayer, since the war predicted by the elders will be of a global nature, it will not be a bilateral Russian-Turkish one, and given modern weapons, you can imagine what dangers this is fraught with.

I have a friend, now an elderly man, to whom the Most Holy Theotokos appeared several years before the occupation of Cyprus. She revealed to him that a great misfortune would happen to Cyprus and ordered him to pray every evening for two hours. “Trouble will happen anyway, why pray then? I have a family, children, responsibilities,” my friend doubted. “So that she would not be so scary,” answered the Mother of God. You see how God works and how important prayer is. The Mother of God appeared to ordinary people (as it later turned out, there were several of them) and called them to prayer.

* * *

The war will break out suddenly and at its end the people will be given great blessing and grace. Many people of good disposition, through pain and hardship, will repent of having moved away from God, reconsider their lives and come to the true faith - Orthodoxy. We are talking about peoples who previously had nothing to do with Orthodoxy.

— Will Türkiye fall apart?

— Some of the Turks will fall apart and believe in Christ. There will be many of them, up to one third of the population.

I heard prophecies not only from Elder Paisius. When I was a little boy, in our village of Pano Zodya there lived a devout Christian, the singer Dimitri Protopapas, who (even before the Turkish occupation of northern Cyprus) said:

- Oh, my children, we will become refugees, and Turks will settle in our village.

— Will we leave our homes forever?

- No, many will die far from home. But some will live to see liberation and return to their homes without war. This will happen when a new country called Kurdia is founded in Turkey.

* * *

After the conflict in the Aegean Sea (in one of the episodes of which Cyprus will be involved), the Russian-Turkish war will begin. Russia's pressure on Turkey will be so great that it will be forced to withdraw troops from occupied Northern Cyprus. As you understand, this will open the way to resolving the Cyprus issue.

* * *

— Does the prophecy of Elder Paisius say that Türkiye will lose Constantinople? Is this really true?

- Yes it is. Great things will happen. Not only will Türkiye fall apart, the European Union will fall apart.

* * *

In Turkey, they pay close attention to the predictions of Paisius the Holy Mountain, Cosmas of Aetolia and other Orthodox saints. They also have their own eschatological tradition associated with the loss of Constantinople.

This country is undergoing not only social, but also spiritual changes. Recently, a member of the Turkish parliament not only converted to Orthodoxy, but also professed her faith publicly. An unprecedented event!

In conclusion, I would like to urge everyone to trust in God’s Providence. The Lord, our Father, will not abandon his children and will take care of us.

Repentance is needed now. Only by confessing our sins will we be able to make the right decisions in the face of future trials and avoid panic and despair. Prayer and regular Communion are also necessary.

Translation by Tasos Mikhailidis (especially for AgionOros.ru).

"The Turks have one foot in the grave"

— And what exactly did Paisiy say about the Russian-Turkish war?

— In a Greek documentary about the imminent Armageddon, the elder’s impressive words are quoted that the Turks carry funeral kuti with them in their belts. In our words, they have one foot in the grave. It all starts with a collision in the Mediterranean Sea. The Russians will intervene, and what Saint Cosmas of Aetolia foretold in the 18th century will happen... The words from the ancient song, which became the anthem of the Greeks who fought against Turkish rule, will come true:

Help, Saint George, Help, Saint Cosmas, Again we take Constantinople and the temple of Saint Sophia.

— I know St. George the Victorious. Who is Cosma?

— Famous Greek monk, Orthodox preacher. The Turks hanged him in 1779 as a Russian agent. Canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 1961. The Holy Martyr Cosmas, among other deeds, is known for his prophecies. For example, back in the 18th century he spoke about iron birds, sometimes flying peacefully across the sky, sometimes spewing fire - today’s aviation, bombers. He foreshadowed houses in which several villages would live - modern high-rise buildings. Telephone communication: “The whole world will be surrounded by one thread, people will talk from one distant place to another, for example, from Constantinople to Russia.” How do you like this prophecy? “Thieves and robbers will no longer hunt in the mountains. They will live in cities, dress like ordinary people, and come in broad daylight to rob you.”

When Greece was recently struck by a debt crisis, governments changed, European leaders discussed the Greek problem, in Athens they remembered the words of Cosmas: “They will loan you a lot of money and demand it back, but they will not be able to take it.”

Orthodox Elders: PROPHECIES about Russia, Turkey and Greece.

As writer Yuri Vorobyovsky said, after the death of the Russian Su-24 in Syria, the Greek documentary “Armageddon - a war that will begin soon” became popular on the Internet. Prophecies of Elder Paisius the Holy Mountain.”

Among the elder’s most famous prophecies is the beginning of the war between Moscow and Ankara.

Paisios is one of the most respected Greek elders; he is also revered in Russia.

The Greek documentary film mentions the words of Paisius that the Turks carry funeral kuti with them in their belts. The meaning of these words is that the Turks have one foot in the grave.

According to the prediction, the war will begin with a clash in the Mediterranean Sea. The Russians will intervene, and what was foretold by Saint Cosmas of Aetolia in the 18th century (preacher, martyr, killed by the Turks in 1779) will happen - Constantinople (now Istanbul) will be liberated from the Turks.

Vorobyovsky noted that Cosma predicted the appearance of airplanes, telephone communications and much more.

“This is what came true. And from the prophecies of Cosmas, which should come true in the future, are the defeat of the Turks, the liberation of Constantinople,” Komsomolskaya Pravda quotes the writer.

The prophecy says that the Turks will reach the six-mile zone. Of these, one third will die, one third will believe in Christ, and one third will go to Kokkini Miglia (a legendary place somewhere in Mesopotamia).

“Paisiy Svyatogorets continued the prophetic tradition of Saint Cosmas. He stated that the city (Constantinople) would be given to the Greeks as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey. The Turks, Paisiy repeatedly said, will be destroyed and erased from the map forever,” said Vorobievsky.

In addition, in one of the prophecies, including Cosmas, it was noted that a battle would begin at sea, and “a great disaster from the North would fall on the Turks, and all their plans would collapse.”

“The elder believed in our country: “Today the Russians are going through difficult times... But you will see, they will cope with the difficulties and again create a strong state,” Vorobievsky pointed out.

According to him, the defeat of Turkey will only be the beginning of a world war, since the West will demand Moscow to withdraw its troops and gather forces against it. Both elders indicated that a lot of blood would be shed.

A world war will begin, and the Russians will have losses. We will see massacres, cities will become slums.” Here is another of his prophecies: “The Middle East will become an arena of battles, and even the Chinese will cross the Euphrates River... Russia will continue the war after the death of Turkey and will stop these troops near Jerusalem,” says the writer.

None of the elders said exactly when the war would start.

Successor of the prophet Cosmas

- Definitely a prophet! I especially liked the one about the city thieves!

— Most of the predictions of Saint Cosmas, a tonsure monk at the Athos monastery of Philotheus, have survived to this day. Some of them are known from books, manuscripts and codes of the 18th–19th centuries. During World War II, a teacher in a school in Northern Epirus found a collection of 72 prophecies written in the Koran in Albanian. The saint's predictions were so vitally important that people did not want to part with his words even during a period of severe persecution and “hid” them in the holy book of Muslims.

“What you want will come to you in the third generation, your grandchildren will see it,” said Cosmas in Epirus. The liberation of this Greek province happened during the Balkan War of 1912–1913, when the grandchildren of those to whom the saint addressed were still alive.

“There is still a lot of suffering ahead. Don't forget my words: pray, act and persevere. Until this scar on the plane tree closes, your village will be enslaved and unhappy.” This was said in the Epirus village of Tsaraplana. Since they heard the prophecy, local residents went to the plane tree every day and looked to see if the wound had healed. More than 130 years passed, and in 1912, joyful news spread throughout the area: “It is finished! The saint’s prophecy has been fulfilled!” And people were not deceived in their expectations: after a few months they received their long-awaited freedom.

“First the Red Caps will come, then the British will replace them for 54 years, and then there will be the Greek state.” The prophecy about the liberation of the Ionian Islands was pronounced by the saint on the island of Kefalonia. These words were fulfilled with amazing accuracy: after the Venetians, the French began to own the islands (people called them “red caps”), they were replaced by the British for 54 years (!), and only then the Ionian Islands received the long-awaited liberation.

This is what came true. And from the prophecies of Cosmas, which should come true in the future - the defeat of the Turks, the liberation of Constantinople (in Russian Tsargrad). Former capital of the Orthodox Byzantine Empire. In 1453, the invaders renamed it Istanbul. Made it the capital of the Ottoman Empire.

“The Turks will reach the six-mile zone,” said Cosma. “Of them, one third will die, one third will believe in Christ, and one third will go to Kokkini Milia (a legendary place somewhere in Mesopotamia).”

Paisiy Svyatogorets continued the prophetic tradition of Saint Cosmas. He stated that the City (Constantinople) would be given to the Greeks as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey. The Turks, Paisiy repeatedly said, will be destroyed and erased from the map forever. Because this is a country that does not have God's blessing. It will be divided into three or four parts.

This is what the elder said when he was once asked, hot on the heels, about the events in the former Yugoslavia: “Today, for the sake of the Turks, Europeans are creating independent states with a Muslim population (Bosnia, Herzegovina). However, I see that in the future they will delicately divide Turkey itself: the Kurds and Armenians will rise up, and the Europeans will demand recognition of the independence and right of these peoples to self-determination. They will then say to Turkey: “We once did you a favor, now the Kurds and Armenians should gain independence in a similar way.”

He also deciphered the mysterious “six-mile” of Cosmas. “One day,” writes spiritual child Paisiya, “I met him somewhat embarrassed and upset. He treated me and started the conversation himself:

- Some people came here and began to tell me that a war would begin, the Turks would enter Greece and they would drive us six miles to Corinth (thus, with their corrupt thoughts, they interpreted the prophecy of Cosmas of Aetolia)... Although I don’t like to talk about prophecies, they forced me to explain to them the meaning of six miles, which Saint Cosmas speaks of, and this is nothing more than six miles of the sea shelf. This is the topic over which we have been squabbling with Turkey in recent years and over which we will eventually “fight”. However, they will not enter Hellas: they will advance only these six miles, and then a great disaster will come upon them from the north, as the scriptures say, and all their plans will collapse.”

- From the north - from Russia?

- Yes. The elder believed in our country: “Today the Russians are going through difficult times... But you will see, they will cope with the difficulties and again create a strong state.” (M. Rakovalis “Father Paisios told me...” p. 114).

— Yuri, have you ever personally communicated with the elder on Mount Athos?

- No. I first came to Greece in 1995, a year after his death. And I knew nothing about the elder then. We, pilgrims, were brought to the monk’s grave. An amazing feeling arose for Paisius. After visiting the grave, I began to read a lot about him. The following detail became clear: my eldest son was born on the same day as him. Subsequently, he visited Mount Athos many times, met with people who knew Paisius well, and went to him for spiritual advice.

For most Russians, Paisius’s prophecies only now, after the death of our bomber, became a revelation, a sensation. Russia lives with its own anxieties and problems: Crimea, Ukraine, now Syria. For me, too, the series of terrorist attacks, plane crashes, and local wars was just a kind of chronicle of tragedies. When the news arrived about a Turkish missile that had shot down a Su-24, my heart sank: had it really begun? I know the prophecies of the Svyatogorets very well.

“I confess, Yuri, a couple of years ago I skimmed through them in your Athonite book “Invisible Elders.” I considered it unscientific fiction. Could there be a conflict with Turkey, a favorite holiday destination for Russians? Rave! Now I look differently at the elder’s words: “It will all begin with a collision in the Mediterranean Sea. The Russians will intervene..." Syria - Mediterranean. The Assad government is fighting with all its might against the Islamic State banned in Russia. The Russians intervened. A Turkish fighter shot down a Russian bomber. The pilot died. The situation has escalated."

— I want to emphasize: Paisius prophesied on Athos not for the sake of rhetoric, the desire to conquer the public, to gain fame. He was a very modest man, an ascetic. He shared revelations in conversations with students and spiritual children. Prophecies are not the personal fantasies of an old man. He was just "God's radio operator." He had a rare gift of transmitting knowledge from heaven to people, without adding anything from himself.

These prophecies do not circulate as rumors. They are recorded in his books. The publishing house "Holy Mountain" translated 6 volumes of Paisius's "Words" into Russian. There are memories of his students. One of the most authoritative sources is “The Life of Elder Paisius the Holy Mountain” by the Athonite hieromonk Isaac, who knew the saint well. There is a documentary about Armageddon, famous in Greece. In Russia, until his last days, he was unnecessary.

— When might the Russian-Turkish war begin?

— The exact date is unknown. One can judge only by indirect signs. “One day a group of children, students of Athoniadas, decided to go to the elder and ask him whether the Greeks would take Constantinople and whether they, the children, would live to see these times,” writes Hieromonk Isaac. “They came to Father Paisius’s kaliva, took some food, but were afraid to ask a question. One made signs to the other, and that one to the third. But in the end, no one dared to ask the elder. Then the elder himself said to them: “Well, well done? What do you want to ask? About Constantinople? We’ll take it, we’ll take it, and you’ll live to see it too.”

“You, as an engineer, will participate in the restoration of Constantinople,” the elder told a student from Xanthi in 1991.

- It turns out that this can happen in our lifetime?

- It turns out so. But the defeat of Turkey by Russia is only a stage in the coming world war.

“When the Russians descend into the Straits (Bosphorus and Dardanelles), then other European states will say: shouldn’t we go there too? The West will demand that Russia withdraw its troops. Russia will refuse, and then they will begin to gather forces against it. The World War will begin, and the Russians will have losses. We will see massacres, cities will become slums."

Here is another of his prophecies: “The Middle East will become an arena of battles, and even the Chinese will cross the Euphrates River. With an army of two hundred million they will reach Jerusalem. Russia will continue the war after the death of Turkey and will stop these troops near Jerusalem.”

“The world,” the elder emphasized, “is always governed by the Word of God, it is not governed by either Americans or Europeans. They may not reign for long. God allows them to punish themselves. Events will occur that will shock nations. It won’t be the Second Coming yet, but people will return to faith and will ask to be told about Christ.”

In Greece, they are very fond of the legend about the founding of Constantinople. When laying the foundation of the city, Emperor Constantine saw an unusual sign: a large snake suddenly crawled out of a hole, but then an eagle fell from the sky, grabbed it with its claws and soared up. The snake began to wrap itself around the bird and, in the end, prevailed. They fell to the ground, but the people, having killed the snake, freed the eagle. The emperor called the wise men to explain this sign. Their council decided that the eagle is a symbol of Christianity, and the snake is the evil opposing it. And since the snake defeated the eagle, the city will subsequently be captured by enemies, but since people killed the snake and freed the royal bird, in the end the Christians will again take possession of the city and reign in it.

Blessing is an Orthodox publishing house.

“There will be clashes in the Mediterranean Sea... Then the Russians will intervene from above, and what Saint Cosmas predicted will come true: Turkey will be destroyed by its allies. They will be defeated... The meaning of six miles, which Saint Cosmas speaks of, is nothing more than six miles of sea shelf. This is the topic over which we have been squabbling with Turkey in recent years and over which we will ultimately “fight.”

However, they will not enter Hellas: they will advance only these six miles, and then a great disaster will come upon them from the north, as the scriptures say, and all their plans will collapse. When the Turkish fleet moves against Greece and reaches the “six miles”, it will be completely destroyed. This is God's will. “Examilia” will be the beginning of the end. This will be the beginning of events that will lead to the return of the City (Constantinople). The city will be given to us (the Greeks) as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey. At first the Turks will think that they will win, but this will be their death.

The Russians will ultimately win and Constantinople will fall into their hands... The Turks will be destroyed and erased from the map forever because this is a country that does not have God's blessing. Türkiye will be divided into 3-4 parts. Time is already counting down. We (Greeks) will take our lands, the Armenians will take their territories, the Kurds will take their lands. The problem of the Kurds is already on the way to being resolved. This will not come true now, but very soon. When the clan that currently rules Turkey (1991) ceases to exist, a new clan of politicians will emerge and take over the responsibilities of governance. Then the division of Turkey will happen. The Turks will challenge Greece.

This will be a provocation regarding maritime borders. Since these provocations will continue for a certain period, we will starve for months... You must have small plots of land and cultivate them to help those who will have nothing. When you hear on television talk about lengthening the miles in the seacoast zone, then you will understand that war is approaching. After provoking the Turks, the Russians will descend into the straits (Bosphorus and Dardanelles), but not to help the Greeks. They will have their own interests. But, unwittingly, they will help Greece. The Turks will defend the straits because they are of strategic importance and will bring new troops there. At the same time, they will not withdraw forces from already captured territories. Then other European states - England, France, Italy and six or seven more states of the European Union will see that Russia is seizing part of someone else’s territory and will say: “Shouldn’t we go there and maybe take some piece of land?” Everyone will want to grab the lion's share. This is how the Europeans will enter the war. The Greek government will decide not to send troops there. Greek troops will guard their borders. It will be God's blessing that our troops will not participate in the war. For anyone who enters this war will perish... This storm will reach Israel, and then the Jews will realize their mistakes...

When you hear that the Turks are blocking the waters of the Euphrates in the upper reaches with a dam and using it for irrigation, then know that they have already entered into the preparation of that great war... Russia will continue the war after the death of Turkey right up to the Persian Gulf and will stop the troops near Jerusalem... Then the Western powers will demand from the Russians to withdraw troops from the Middle East within 6 months. Russia, however, will not withdraw its forces. And the Western powers will begin to gather troops to attack the Russians. A world war will begin, which will lead to Russian losses. We (Greeks) will watch the carnage. Cities will become slums. But the Greeks will be on the sidelines of the global war..."

How much Russian blood is shed?

“The prophecies about the coming battle for Constantinople evoke a double feeling,” said writer Yuri Vorobievsky at the end of the conversation. — On the one hand, the triumph of Orthodoxy. On the other hand... “So much blood will be shed in the City that a three-year-old bull could swim in it.” This prophecy of Saint Cosmas was supplemented by Elder Paisios: “In Constantinople there will be a fierce battle between Russians and Europeans. A lot of blood will be shed." *(Χριστόδουλος Αγιορείτης. 96. Σ. 207).

The blood in which the three-year-old bull will swim is our blood, after all. Do the Russians have much of it left after centuries of battles with Turkey, the Crimean War, and two world wars? The great composer Georgy Sviridov in his book “Music as Fate” very subtly noted that in Soviet literature the word “Russian” began to appear again, it seems, with Simonov - precisely during the years of the Great Patriotic War, When blood was required. Russian blood has always saved the situation in the world. Unnecessarily copiously spilled. Covered with a layer of black ingratitude... I feel sorry for Russian blood.

Vorobievsky is right. How much Russian blood can be shed for the sake of other people's interests? It is clear that the dream of the former greatness of Byzantium and the return of Constantinople among the Greeks is genetic. But, judging by the prophecies of Paisius, they themselves will not fight. “We will take back Constantinople, but not ourselves. Due to the fact that the majority of our youth have fallen, we are not capable of this. However, God will arrange it so that others will take the City and give it to us... Greek troops will guard the borders. They will not take part in the war, for anyone who enters into this slaughter will perish.” Indeed, let him who has ears hear!

Venerable Paisios of Athos about the beginning of the Third World War

In the summer of 1987, the elder was asked about a future world war, the one called “Armageddon” and about which the Scriptures report. With fatherly interest, he reported various information. And he even wanted to discover certain signs that would convince us that we are really in the generation of Armageddon. So he said:

“When you hear that the Turks are blocking the waters of the Euphrates in the upper reaches with a dam and using them for irrigation, then know that we have already entered into the preparation of that great war.

However, it requires great attention and an enlightened, pure mind in order for us to discern the signs of the times, since in some ways it happens that those who do not care about the purification of their hearts cannot discern them, and, as a result, are easily mistaken. Something similar happened with Chernobyl: in Revelation, St. John the Theologian reports that he saw a star falling from the sky and striking the waters and people. Those, however, who expect a star to fall from the sky have long been deluded and will never understand that this has already happened. Chernobyl in Russia means "Wormwood" and we see that great damage has been caused, and it will be even greater as time goes on.

The Middle East will become the scene of wars in which the Russians will take part.

When you hear about miles, about lengthening miles in the seacoast area, you will understand that war is approaching. This will be the beginning of those events that will lead to the return of the city (Constantinople). The six-mile region that Saint Cosmas (Aetolian) speaks of is nothing more than six miles of sea shelf. This is the topic over which we (the Greeks) have been squabbling with Turkey in recent years and over which we will eventually fight. The Turks will challenge Greece, this will be a provocation regarding maritime borders. However, they will not enter Hellas: they will advance only these six miles, and then a great disaster will come upon them from the north, as the Scriptures say, and all their plans will be ruined. When the Turkish fleet moves against Greece and reaches six miles, it will be completely destroyed. It is God's will that six miles will be the beginning of the end.

Since these provocations will continue for a certain period, we will starve for months. And then we will evaluate our bread and say: not bread, but bread. You must have small plots of land and cultivate them to help those who will have nothing. After provoking the Turks, the Russians will descend into the straits (Bosphorus and Dardanelles), but not to help us. They will have their own interests. The Turks will defend the straits (Bosporus and Dardanelles) because they are of strategic importance and will bring new troops there. At the same time, they will not withdraw forces from the occupied territories. Then other European states - England, France, Italy and six or seven other states of the European Union will see that Russia is seizing part of the territories and will say: Shouldn’t we go there too, maybe we’ll take some piece of land? Everyone will want to grab the lion's share. So the Europeans will enter the war, but without wanting to, they will help us (the Greeks). The Greek government will decide not to send troops there. Greek troops will guard their borders. It will be God's blessing that our (Greek) troops will not participate in the war. For whoever enters this war will perish. The world is always ruled by the Word of God, it is not ruled by Americans or Europeans. They can reign for a short time, God allows them to punish themselves.

The fire that broke out in the Balkans will flare up. The Orthodox peoples of the Balkans will face NATO troops on the territory of Turkey, which will disappear from the world map. Cyprus will get a big slap in the face from the Turks, but it will be temporary. Türkiye will receive a blow from the north. It will be a great catastrophe, but no Greek blood will be shed. We Greeks will not participate in a global war. As for Constantinople, it will be ruled by Russians, Greeks and Europeans.

Both the military and politicians will govern Constantinople from us. You, as an engineer, will participate in the restoration of Constantinople (Elder Paisios said to one student from Xanthi), since Constantinople will be rebuilt. Therefore, our villages and holy lands will be liberated, Constantinople will be liberated and will become Greek forever. From our (Greek) roots, Byzantium will be reborn. I don’t want anything else, just for God to give me a little more time to live, so that I can see my Motherland multiplied.

Constantinople at the end of the 15th century

The city will be given to us as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey. At first the Turks will think that they will win, but this will be their death. The Russians will understand the plans of the Turks, and Turkey as a state will disappear from the map: one third of the Turks will become Christians, one third will die, and one third will go to Mesopotamia. The Russians will ultimately win and Constantinople will fall into their hands. Then we (Greeks) will get it back, the Russians must give it to us. The Turks will be destroyed and erased from the map forever, because this is a country that does not have God's blessing, it will be divided into three or four parts. This will not come true now, but very soon. When the clan that now rules Turkey ceases to exist, a new clan of politicians will appear and take over the responsibilities of governance. Then the division of Turkey will occur. Time is already counting down. God will help: it will be in the interests of the great of this world for Constantinople to become Greek. We (Greeks) will take our lands, the Armenians will take their territories, the Kurds will take their lands. The problem of the Kurds is already on the way to being resolved.

Russia will continue the war after the death of Turkey all the way to the Persian Gulf and stop its troops near Jerusalem. Then the Western powers will demand that the Russians withdraw troops from the Middle East within 6 months. Russia, however, will not withdraw its forces, and the Western powers will begin to gather troops to attack the Russians. A world war will begin, which will lead to Russian losses. A characteristic sign that these events are approaching will be the destruction of the Omar Mosque, because... its destruction will mean the beginning of work on recreating the Temple of Solomon, which was built on that very spot. We will watch the carnage. Cities will become slums. This storm will reach Israel, and then the Jews will realize their mistakes.

Events are developing rapidly, getting faster every day. All this will happen in these years. It's time to. Very soon the prayers that were said underground (by secret Christians in Turkey) will be heard from above, and the candles lit here will be lit there. Faith and hope in God always exist and always make us happy. The holy service will resume again in Hagia Sophia. Events will occur that will shock nations. This will not yet be the Second Coming, but Divine Intervention. People will return to Faith and will ask to be told about Christ. They will pull you by the hand and say: come here, sit down, tell me about Christ.”

The elder foresaw the collapse of the USSR

One day Mr. D.K. visited Elder Paisius. At that time, the USSR was a strong and powerful power, and no one could even imagine that it could collapse (this was back in the Brezhnev era). By the way, the elder told him: “You will see that the USSR will soon collapse.”

Mr. D. objected: “But such a strong power, Geronda (elder - Ed.), who will be able to destroy it? And they don’t dare touch his nail.

- You'll see!

The elder predicted that Mr. D. himself would become an eyewitness to the collapse of the USSR, despite his advanced age. “Know that Türkiye will also fall apart,” continued Elder Paisiy. - There will be a war that will last two halves. We will be winners because we are Orthodox.” (From the book by Athanasius Zoitakis “The Life and Prophecies of Cosmas of Aetolia. M., 2007).

Prophecies of St. Paisius the Holy Mountain about the future of Turkey and the liberation of Constantinople

The Turks are a barbaric people... Oh-oh-oh... When they slaughtered the Armenians, for three days there was a smell of carnage throughout the whole city. The Greeks were locked in their houses, no one dared to show themselves on the street, they were shouting and killing. Three whole days.

- Who, father? Turkish soldiers?

- Not only soldiers, but also ordinary people, even old people. Another went and killed his neighbor, with whom he had lived side by side for many years. Barbarians, they have done a lot. The time of reckoning will come. Spiritual laws will work. All they will soon have to worry about is preparing kolivo (funeral kutya - approx. lane)[1]

About Turkey, the Elder said with confidence: “It will disintegrate, and the states that play a decisive role in world politics will give Constantinople to us. They will do this not because they love us, but because God will arrange everything in such a way that it will be beneficial for them that Constantinople be Greek. Spiritual laws will take effect. The Turks will have to pay for what they have done, they will die because they occupied this land without the blessing of God. Their end is near. Shortly before the Population Exchange, Saint Arsenius said: “We will lose our Motherland, but then we will find it again.”[2].

Today, for the sake of the Turks, Europeans are creating independent states with a Muslim population (Bosnia, Herzegovina). However, I see that in the future they will delicately divide Turkey itself: the Kurds and Armenians will rise up, and the Europeans will demand recognition of the independence and right of these peoples to self-determination. They will then say to Turkey: “We already did you a favor, now the Kurds and Armenians should gain independence in the same way.” This is how Turkey will be “nobly” divided into parts.[3]

Elder Paisios emphasized that the liberation of Constantinople would happen without the direct participation of Greece itself: “We will take back Constantinople, but not ourselves. Due to the fact that the majority of our youth have fallen, we are not capable of this. However, God will arrange it so that others will take the City and give it to us.”[4].

One day Mr. D.K. visited Elder Paisius. At that time, the USSR was a strong and powerful power, and no one could even imagine that it could collapse (this was back in the Brezhnev era).

Among other things, the elder told him:

- You will see that the USSR will soon collapse.

Mr. D. objected:

- But such strong power, Geronda, who will be able to destroy it? And they don’t dare touch his nail.

- You'll see!

The elder predicted that Mr. D. himself would witness the collapse of the USSR, despite his advanced age.

The elder continued:

- Know that Türkiye will also fall apart. There will be a war that will last two halves. We will be winners because we are Orthodox.

- Geronda, will we suffer damage in the war?

- Eh, at most, they will occupy one or two islands, and Constantinople will be given to us. You'll see, you'll see!

One day I met Elder Paisius, who was somewhat embarrassed and upset. He treated me and started the conversation himself:

“Some people came here and began to tell me that a war would begin, the Turks would enter Greece and drive us six miles to Corinth (this is how they interpreted the prophecy of Cosmas of Aetolia with their corrupt thoughts). <…> Although I don’t like to talk about prophecies, they forced me to explain to them the meaning of the six miles that Saint Cosmas speaks of, and this is nothing more than six miles of the sea shelf. This is the topic over which we have been squabbling with Turkey in recent years and over which we will eventually “fight.” However, they will not enter Hellas: they will advance only these six miles, and then a great disaster will come upon them from the north, as the scriptures say, and all their plans will collapse[5].

Today, reading prophecies is the same as reading a newspaper: they are clearly written. My thoughts tell me that many events will happen: the Russians will occupy Turkey, Turkey will disappear from the map, because a third of the Turks will convert to Christianity, a third will die and a third will go to Mesopotamia[6].

One day, a group of children - students of Athonias - decided to go to the Elder and ask him whether the Greeks would take Constantinople and whether they, the children, would live to see these times.

They came to Father Paisius’s kaliva, took some food, but were afraid to ask their question. One made signs to the other, and that one to the third. But in the end no one dared to ask the Elder. Then the Elder himself said to them: “Well, well done? What do you want to ask? About Constantinople? We’ll take it, we’ll take it, and you’ll live to see it too.”

The children conveyed the words of the Elder to the teacher Konstantin Mallidis, a good Christian and ardent patriot. The Teacher, very interested, came to the Elder to hear the same thing from his own lips, but the Elder answered him: “Leave these matters, Kostas: all this is not for you and me. We need to prepare for relocation to another City.”[7].

These words of the Elder foreshadowed the upcoming death of both himself and his interlocutor, because soon they - first Kostas, and then the Elder - moved to our true Heavenly Fatherland, to the New City, to Jerusalem on High.

Türkiye will fall apart. Its allies themselves will contribute to this[8].

* * *

There will be a war between Turkey and Russia. At first the Turks will think that they are winning, but this will be a disaster for them. The Russians will win and take Constantinople[9].

* * *

An Orthodox service will again take place in the Church of Hagia Sophia[10].

* * *

Türkiye will split into 3-4 parts. The countdown has already begun for her. We will take our lands, the Armenians will take theirs, and the Kurds will take theirs[11].
